- I am Bradlie Jones also known as Jelie, pronounced 'Jel-eye'. I am CU Denver alumni as I have received a Bachelors of Science in Recording Arts. Whether starting a business or starting a RUclips channel it can be hard to cut through the noise and negativity of American society. There are always questions about whether or not college is worth the money and time sacrifice. There are also always questions about how a college education applies to the real world. The path I chose helped me to pursue my passion in a variety of ways, from writing a business plan, choosing a business structure and finding work after college. There are no cut and dry guidelines to start a business but there are 8 guidelines to running a business that I have developed along my journey.
Bradlie is one of many Denver Scholarship Foundation scholars elevating Colorado. Jelie, also known as Bradlie Jones, started rapping at age eight. By 16, she was performing in venues around Denver, and by age 19, she had launched her own production company, Kickback Couture.
As the only black female rapper in her graduating class in college, Jelie had to make school work on her terms, as there was no audition track for rap. She was not fluent with any instruments nor was she educated about where she could take her skills for commission. As a rising artist, her education laid the foundation for her to create a successful business.
Jelie knew that college would give her the skills she needed, but as a first generation college student, she needed outside support to help her get there. Denver Scholarship Foundation helped make Jelie’s college education possible.
While her story is her own, she says that she is just one of many talented young people going against the grain today. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

"Move away from the concept of finding jobs and into the concept of creating jobs." Excellent description of an entrepreneur.
I don't leave comments often on RUclips at all. But I had to let you know that I'm very grateful for the stance you've taken on the importance and value of music/artistry/passion. I deeply appreciate your courage to dream and effectively take action with your goals. Keep striving. I hope to see you very successful in your endeavours. Be sure to hold on to the passion and drive that you have and ensure everything that you're involved with is truly what you want for yourself. You're an inspiration. Your energy seems genuine. Be blessed.
We love You Jelie, keep up the Great Work!
On your way to greatness!!

Im 53 friggin years old and been watching her for years. Im not tearing up because I learned alot from her because I do work, Im tearing because they gave her a chance to tell her story. Ive always wondered who she really was. Regardless, im glad she got her chance and I enjoyed this. I make music like every six months that amounts to nothing but I always come back to her.
LETS GO JEL!!!!!
This should have a million views, wonderful artist and knowledge sharer

That Lyrical Game is A1
This is awesome! Keep moving forward!
Great Ted Talk! You make a lot of great points. Artists most of the time DO create their own jobs. And teaching music is so rewarding in it's own way. "Find your passion and the rest will be fail proof" Love that! Thank you for an amazing lecture!
THIS MADE ME CRY I CAN RELATE AND EVERY ARTIST CAN TOO IT HARD BUT IS REAL BUT IS WORTH IT
When I tell you this was beyond amazing…ever since I tapped into your page about a year ago I’ve been glued to & have saved damn near every video on your page lol…I used some of your techniques in Reason before I went to compete in last years Battle of the Beatmakers and I ended up being one of the top 4 producers. Thank you for every video you post and the work you put in daily for us producers. Thank you for your words of encouragement in this video, you truly are a hidden gem! - Chef Coldy 👨🏾🍳
This is so dope, I'm glad I stumbled upon this. I didn't even know you did a TED talk. Congrats again, and much continued success!
This was excellent, definitely keeping the fire burning...extremely proud of you!
This is honestly one of my favorite TED talks. I remember many that I've watched, but I don't remember one that I've enjoyed watching as much as this talk.
Edit: I also have to thank Jelie for this talk as it allowed me a year later to realize that I've always wanted to pursue a career as a musician, yet created my own obstacles to the fulfillment of that desire. Talk about an inspiring talk. Not a single word out of place. Well spoken like a beat poet. Even a drop the mic moment.

I just discovered you Jelie... glad I did.
So inspiring. Thank you
Jelie, dope talking as always !
Wow you on TED talk that is so awesome congrats
Well spoken and illustrated Jelie. I am grateful to find your channel on youtube while searching for other reason producers. Your content and the context that you provide is inspirational and refreshing. I do not create for others but as an outlet for my own inner voice, self discovery, and passion. I love to create, dialog and work with other artist whether digital or live. Again, thanks for holding your own and standing on your square.
🔥
Jelie the cutie on duty... love her!
@Kickback Couture Great speech
This is dope. As long as you have steady income there's nothing wrong with pursuing your passion. I wish I had a chance to study music in school. Music still ended up shaping my life as far back as I can remember so I guess I received an unorthodox education so to speak. My family always said I would never make it in music. Whether I make it or not as long as I'm doing what I love I'll be happy.
Smashed it fam!!!
Great speech and great explanation of your decision. I create beats as a hobby and I have been watching your videos over the past few years. You do a wonderful job and I truly appreciate you breaking down REASONS! Great success on your journey!! Love!!
Excellent points, very well done talk! I hope this video leads a lot of new people to your channel.
