- In a full-on session I catch plenty of good size fish including Barramundi and Giant Trevally. I castnet for prawns / shrimp then find a likely fishing spot. I finish the day with cooking a small giant trevally and enjoying a fish wrap.
I absolutely loved making this video and am thankful I can share it with you.

Holy Barramundi! You just caught a lifetimes worth of Barra at on spot. Amazing, and no crazy screaming and carry on. Just 1 man, 1 rod, 1 cast net and a really good knowledge of your environment.👏
Thanks for the compliment! I have spent a lot of years gaining knowledge of this environment. I am fortunate to fish in a such a healthy ecosystem!
This is what we need more of. No lures, no bs.... just fishing. Well done Sir
Thanks for your support it is greatly appreciated!👍
See how you do clean and cook almost every time that's a popular topic, showing the viewers how to properly catch clean and cook them up keep them coming good videos
Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I love the live baiting, dont see that in alot of videos, usually lures, i need to get out to townsville for a sticky beak, its only 120kms haha
I agree, definitely more of trend towards lure fishing than live baiting. Hopefully you find time to come for a fish in this area soon. Cheers, Brad!👍
These lovely fishing tours , could be continued with cooking tours for tourists attractions. Lots of people will join ya mate...
Thanks for your comment I genuinely appreciate it! I actually use to run tours of this nature and loved it! I often give it thought to do them again! Cheers
Good job father
I appreciate your comment!👍
What size kale hook you using?
Number 2 ball sinker ?
I vary the size of hook and sinker depending how big the bait is and how much tide is flowing. Usually a 4/0 to 6/0 hook and a number 4 or 5 ball sinker gets the job done! Thanks for your question!👍
Great vid thanks for that!
How to setup the line like he does? I only know the basic: sinker, swivel, leader and hook
The basic rig you use is very effective for catching a variety of species! Thanks for your comment!👍
I would pay for thatt😂
Is that place close to Townsville I love it thereive court mangrove Jack out the front of that place
It is just to the south of Townsville. Great to hear you caught mangrove jack. Enjoy your fishing. Thanks for watching!👍
hey mate what brand of cast net you using?? and what size??
It is a custom made drawstring net and I don’t think they are available anymore. If I could get hold of them I would buy another for sure. It is a 9ft drop. Thanks for your question!👍
Cooking on the beach in croc country. Man that's scary..
It is not any different to having a picnic on any beach or Island in Northern Australia. It is croc country and the risk always exist regardless of the activity we engage in.
I really appreciate your comment and being mindful this is croc country. Take care!👍
Hey mate.
Great video. What river system was this in?
I appreciate your positive feedback and glad you enjoyed the video. I was fishing the Haughton River system. Have you fished this area yourself?
@@returnoutdoors2210 haven’t checked out the Haughton yet. Next on my list.
Good luck. There are plenty of great fishing options.
What braid?
When I live bait around snags I usually fish 10 to 15kg braid. I don’t have any particular brand I prefer. Thanks for your question.!👍
why are you throwing away fish which appear to be the legal size?
I was satisfied with the amount of fish I had caught. There are also bag limits on the number of Barramundi it is legal to keep. Thanks for your question. Cheers!
Braid
Thanks for your question! I use 10 to 15 kg braid when live baiting for barra.
