Master Fried Dumpling With This Quick and Easy Recipe | Jamaican Fried Dumpling

Jamaican Fried Dumpling II Recipe
Ingredients:
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Milk/Water
2 Tbsps. Cold Butter
1 Tbsps. Baking Powder (Preferably double acting)
1/2 Tbsps. Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
Method:
1) Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl
2) Add milk or water gradually and mix well
3) Knead dough until it comes together, about 5 minutes
4) Rest for 5-10 minutes
5) Knead for another 5 minutes, the dough should be really smooth now
6) Rest for another 5-10 minutes
7) Form Dough Balls by pulling off a piece of dough enough to make a golf ball sized dumpling
8) In a heavy bottom pan on medium low heat, pour in enough oil to fry #dough balls. oil should reach at least half way the height of each ball for the best result
9) Fry dough balls until golden brown and cooked right through, cover half way through and turn periodically....should take around 8 minutes
10) Enjoy!

I made these with brown stew chicken and ginger saffron rice , my kids loved them , i made extra and rolled them in powdered sugar used an icing bag and inserted homemade raspberry and apple jam into them and had with ice cream for afters , was delicious, going to make some of your recipe for beef patties tomorrow 😋

There’s so much food available on the cheap, hardly anyone needs to starve or pay out the butt for good food.
Only one problem… there’s hardly any nutritional value to flour!
That’s why it’s cheap… an example would be that you can’t get some nutrients that are vital for survival from vegetables, you must eat meat or source the vitamins from meat products and use them as additives
Every steak in the shops is expensive compared to flour, the reason is that good quality food takes a long time to produce
The difference in time for a cow to grow and wheat
Granted the belly wouldn’t hurt but it also wouldnt hurt if you ate finely powdered brick dust or sand
Food with no nutritional value is why people get ill easily
They changed the food plate to more carbohydrates because they get paid from us getting ill by us consuming less vitamins and minerals
And then they get paid from the medicine that they prescribe which only blocks the feeling of the illness not fix the problem
So yeah to one extent you are correct they wouldn’t have starving belly ache but the body would starve of nutrients

Im a Canadian born to Jamaican parents and I must say, this recipe is the best!! Even my mother was wondering how it taste so good! I used to make fried dumplin and it was so hard, but thanks to this recipe, it's so soft and my kids keep asking me to make it. I had to add 1 tsp of salt because the half tsp in this recipe wasn't tasty enough, but to each their own. I love it. Just made some with ackee and saltfish ❤❤❤

Just made this my first time ever and they were a hit! I only had one also I only used one cup of sugar to make 6 and keep all the ingredients the same except for the milk only used half a cup! Very good very buttery and flaky! Just what I wanted!

Been using this recipe for over a month now. It was my first time ever making fry dumpling and they’re perfect. I will say I add a bit more sugar and never use cold butter but the results still yield a soft, fluffy and flaky on the outside dumpling. Great and easy recipe!

Thanks for the recipe. How heavy is two cups of flour? I feel it might be different everytime. Does ut need to be precise? Or can I just scoop it out and use it?
That's true but the margin of error is pretty big with this recipe so an ounce of two less or more won't hurt the final result. Just scoop it
...2 cups is ~250 grams or 8.5-9oz

has anyone found a way to store extra dough for the next day without it hardening?
Wrap it in cling wrap and place it in the fridge, you have to take it out and let it come up to room temperature before working the dough. It's usually hard because it's cold

I made a half batch (1 cup flour) and maybe ended using a little more than 1/4 cup of water so be careful with the flour/water ratio.
Watching this to see how to make mine's soft. Nearly lef mi teeth dem inna sum mi mek the other day 😩

Never cover a pot of oil i tried this and the steam and condensation from the heat created water and almost set my kitchen on fire very dangerous
My thing I'd the baking powder looks like tea spoon and not table spoon you have to be careful with that measurement
Do not cover last time i coverd it almost caused a fire as the steam made water and water and oil don't mix it exploded
