I suspect this is the closest we'll get to a Skaven tutorial on this channel, which makes me very happy as the proud father of several hundred rat minis
Sorastro, I want to give you a huge thank you! I only started painting minis a few months ago with Star Wars Legion then switched over to Zombicide Black Plague. In that time I've moved from no experience (and wondering how am I going to paint a very detailed mini) to very much enjoying my painting time and I've learned so much from watching you. How did you thin the paints for the bases? I know you're using a wet pallette but I'm amazed they stayed wet for the wet blending - I find some paints dry relatively quickly. Rakarth flesh (which you use) is one that seems to dry for me even on a wet pallette. Do you use a retarder or is it just water?

@@Sorastro I've already painted the Ablobmination, and I'm about to finish the abominatroll, but there's always room for new ideas. I really liked the yellow tones on the blisters, and the colors you used for the face, I wouldn't have thought of starting with pale blue.
I LOVE your videos but i'd prefer if you didn't show the completed version of the model in the beginning of the video. It ruins the excitement of seeing the process step by step until the final reveal at the end. The thumbnail is fine since you can barely make out any detail with such a small image. I also don't think you need to lay out the step by step process before you start. Your pacing is already so diligent and precise, I find it really easy to follow even without it. This is a subjective opinion of course. I'd be curious what other people think about this. And before anyone says it, I know I can just skip ahead, I already do; but since the completed model is the first frame, I can't always skip fast enough for it not to be spoiled for me.
Hi Jamie! Thanks for the kind comment and well-meant criticism! I’d also be interested in what other people think, but I personally feel it’s quite important to show the completed model at the start to establish what it is we’re aiming for (and I guess also to entice people to watch to find out how to do it!). I also like to think the steps overview at the start is useful for newer painters, but like I say, I’m certainly open to hearing other views.. 😀
Sorastro's Painting I see the appeal of his suggestions, but I really like the format as is. The one suggestion I would make is to have you compile snippets of your existing videos in to 15 minute segments on specific techniques, like zenithal shading, flesh tones, metals, washing, dry brushing and so on. I love watching all your videos, but I’d like to go back and see primers on techniques I’m about to try out
Sorastro's Painting Personally, I want to see the completed model at the start, because I am not watching 20-30m video if the end result isn't something I'm interested in. In videos that don't have it, I'll jump to the end to see the completed model first then decide. Not a huge deal either way.
I agree with the OP and have thought this many times while watching your videos. I’ve taken to just closing my eyes until the beginning part is over lol

My rat is on it's way, this video will be quite helpful.
Oh great! It's such a fun monster to paint 😀
@@Sorastro I've already painted the Ablobmination, and I'm about to finish the abominatroll, but there's always room for new ideas. I really liked the yellow tones on the blisters, and the colors you used for the face, I wouldn't have thought of starting with pale blue.
That's a nasty mold line on the top of the skull here...
Thank you...? 😀
Sqweeee!
@@drelt I do the same thing :) Jump right to the end first, then I watch the video
Gawd that thing is hideous.
Ha ha - yep, sure it :)
