- Here are ways I made my game Frog Corral feel alive! All through coding techniques and not any practiced art skills. Let me know in the comments if you have any other ideas!
I'm an indie developer making a cozy little game about rescuing frogs and solving puzzles. I'm here to show my progress and offer some game design tips. Don’t miss out on these devlogs :)
It's called Frog Corral. You must rescue a group of frogs by bringing them to water. Use your little frogs to help each other and solve puzzles along the way. My goal is to release this game January or Februrary 2023!
And now it’s released!! Play it at: radnyx.itch.io/frog-corral

Oh god from the title I thought this was gonna be another "Using an AI to help make a game" or whatever, but it turned out to be way cooler! You've earned a sub from me my friend.
make the plants swing left-right based on their UV's V coordinate, so the higher the pixel in the texture the more motion.
this makes the bottom most pixel stay in place.
Can't wait to play the finished version! I'm so glad you're making a comfy froggy game 💚
This reminds me of an old mobile game about taking care of frogs that i liked as a kid. I don't remember what it was called but it was nice
This is so so nice, I love finding little gems like these on my recommended :D
Good luck bro with your game
Very cool game. I like the art
me too
me three
@@idontwannatypeaname lol
Froge game looking *juicy*
Can you make this a series? Teach us more ways to add subtle effects to make the games look better?
add a bonus fly for collection in each lvl and get it when a frog eats it
Bro is criminally underrated, so glad I found you on my youtube recommended list!
lol the frog jumping sounds sound like the bedroom
Looks absolutelly incredible! It really does feel alive
great simple well editted video
Only 220 subs and you're making some pretty great videos man. Keep it up.
ooohh ive seen that gradient over screen thing in TUNIC before. except its like a gradient between blue and orange. i didnt know this is a frequently used technique
This game looks amazing! Love the work you’ve put into and I’m just here to say keep going!! Push it to the finish, you’ve already come so far. What’s the worst that can happen?
Bro just watched ALL your videos and I love them! (+1 sub) Man I wish I could stay motivated on my games..
i just tried your game and its awesome, well done on the art too, AD is super dope
welcome to the algorithm tho :)
Very cool to see this topic being brought up. I mean have you seen "Subnautica without fog"? It just break the entire feel of the game.
subnautica without frog
i loved the game in crazy game! i hope it will continue! 💚😊
Thank you for the tips! Always wondered what that darkened border effect was called :D
Good video m8, subbed you, interesting guy.
Awesome and very interesting way to improve the graphics in simple ways.
Yay
I like watching this video when I need to calm down (frequently)
thx for the tips man
Great video!
I love this game!
omg I played this on hooda math lol
I really love vignette. it works anywhere whether its video editing, graphic designing or game designing
Cool Video Man
Blows my mind you did it without knowing much about art
Hello hello, game looks really nice. I noticed the hovering platform area, looks a bit empty, at 0:54 , I suggest put some mud or snakes kind of creatures in the mud to make it appear deadly instead of just a hole. All the best :)
What engine do you use? whatever it is, it sure looks amazing!
Thanks! For this game I used Phaser. It’s light-weight, good for web games.
Though you can achieve all that and more in engines like Godot or Unity.
Thanks I want to learn coding but I have no idea what to start with I might try phaser out! ❤️
Cool! I will say Phaser will involve a lot more coding upfront. But it’s all a journey anyway so don’t stress which engine you start with. Just get a feel for making games and have fun with it :)
so underrated
Frog game😍
Duly noted. It may not require art skills, but you definitely have an artist mind to make it look so nice.
sick game but i think it would be awesome if there was a level creator and a level browser so you can play other peoples levels!! (games with unlimited content are by far the best and keep the playerbase active)
you'd have to verify the level first before being able to upload it similar to Geometry Dash and Super Mario Maker 2
i think in user-generated levels, buttons should be color coded to the doors to be less confusing for the player. (if two buttons are connected to one wall then the colours could be half half or there could be a small plate ontop of the door showing all colors of the buttons which are inputs to the door on the small pockets found on the plate. limit the maximum buttons connected to one wall to about 4 because people could spam buttons and it could be really annoying)
another suggestion - i think you should have an encyclopedia, and every time you find a new obstacle and complete a specific level which teaches you about it, it should appear in the encyclopedia and the player can understand what it does more deeply. (i have no idea what pink buttons do...)
hope you're thinking about adding these into the game!! good luck on finishing it too
Haha a level editor would be fun. Thank you for the feedback!
I’m wondering if there‘s a bug? Currently pink buttons go with pink doors but maybe they didn’t load correctly.
Wow, looks fun! If you need any music for the game, I could make some.
Thanks! Music for the demo is pretty much taken care of. But! do you have a Soundcloud I can follow?
The link in description seems to be broken, mista frog dude.
Love me some frogs!
I love froggies
doing my part for the algorithm :)
🐸
cool
What tech are you using? C++ and SDL?
I’m writing it in Typescript using a framework called Phaser so it can be run in the browser :)
Witch game engine are you using?
I ended up using a web framework called Phaser. In hindsight I think Unity would probably have been the way to go lol
the art so cool, mind giving tutorial?
Sure! I can absolutely make some in depth videos.
@@radnyx_games that's great

"WITHOUT Art Skills"?
Uh, mate, these ARE art skills! Simple ones, to be sure, but art skills nevertheless.
