"Dixie", also known as "Dixie's Land", "I Wish I Was in Dixie", and other titles, is a song that was popular in the Southern United States through the 20th century. "Dixie" had originated in the minstrel shows of the 1850s and quickly became popular throughout the United States. During the American Civil War, it was adopted as a de facto national anthem of the Confederacy. New versions appeared at this time that more explicitly tied the song to the events of the Civil War.

Lincoln loved this song. I can’t blame him. Lincoln is from Kentucky and by mere coincidence so is Jefferson Davis the CSA’s President. So if you count Kentucky as the South (eventhough KY was neutral during the Civil War) Abraham Lincoln is a Southerner.

One thing is for sure: Illinois and especially Indiana’s claim to Lincoln are invalid.

I am here because apparently this was Lincoln's favorite song. "I have always thought "Dixie" one of the best tunes I have ever heard."

It took y’all 4 years to kill a nation with basically less then half of your population and half of your soldiers with a tremendous industry as well and immigrants traveling from far and wide and dont bring up the slavery argument we are talking about something else y’all always try to shift it to slavery which yes was obviously bad but it’s not the entire reason the war started

Before anyone even thinks of calling a Confederate soldier a traitor, you bring Jane Fonda up on treason charges for her actions during Vietnam, when she went to North Vietnam. That’s why she’s called Hanoi Jane.
