Scotty, I'm looking to buy a 2021 tundra for my first ever truck. I saw in a video that they don't have a transmission cooler in this model, but I still want the V8 instead of the newer models. What do you think about longevity for the 2021 Tundra?
Scotty , how about the new German Marla or Mala Electric Car motors and Batteries that claim to beat Tesla ?
Atomic Explosions Don't Exist Scotty.
@@daltonlawson7081I wouldn't I have a 13 5.7 TRD off-road 4x4 crewmax and it's my second tundra and both have been huge money pits. It constantly blows the head gaskets and reverse keeps going out in the transmission. Also the parts and regular maintenance on these things is outrageously expensive and I do all my own work.
Love that supercharger...the sound, the power, the excitement.... totally AWESOME! Thanks for sharing, Scotty!
Toyota could dominate the 1/2 tone truck market if they brought back that engine as standard equipment. At least for people that need a truck that can work, tow, haul.
My 2UZFE is now 350K miles with the TRD supercharger installed at 200K. No issues whatsoever. This engine is bulletproof
It only makes 490 crank HP … not enough power to break anything
What supercharger did you put on?
Long shot I’ll get an answer, but how is the tundra and supercharger doing a year later?
Any updates?
The air injection pump went out in my 2007 Tundra and my dealer charged me over $2,300 to replace it… and that was 4 or 5 years ago!! After hearing Scotty say the part now costs less than $600 and takes only 1 hour to change out; I got ripped off for sure!!! 😡
wow
Dyi everything yourself
They must have had three or four snail 🐌 mechanics putting your on.
My dad had the same problem with the wheel bearing and they charged him $2100 when they quoted him 800 for it but I went to my local mechanic and they quoted me $180 never go to a dealership unless you plan on buying the part there, and if you think it’s manageable, DIY yourself
No way Scotty can change the air injection pump in less than an hour. It’s located right on the firewall, just about where the transmission and engine mount together. There’s no space for a easy removal and install
There is a lot of people that I got the new Tundra and wish they kept their old V8. 😢
My buddy's FJ Cruiser made to 260k with a supercharger. He's having it all rebuilt and starting over.
You can only supercharge the pre-2010 FJs.
@@VideoArchiveGuycool story bro
I love "The EVIL Scotty". You can tell when he said "sleeper truck" he was up to NO GOOD. That's awesome!
The Magnuson direct bolt on gets you immediately 550 Crank HP and 550 Twist, with a little tune, reliable 620 Hp/ 600 Twist.
Today! My 2008 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7L it turned 400000 Miles.
That TRD supercharger cost $6,400. Without installation.
It’s worth it
No one ever said supercharging was cheap!
Go big or go home. Love it.
Who sells them? Have a 2020, only seen Whipple, No TRD Super chargers
@@kevinowens1732Back in 2007, when he bought his Tundra, the only place to get them was Toyota. I had one of my Tacoma.
I've looked up superchargers recently for Toyotas, they're not TRD, but they cost almost $7,400.
This guy is a real treasure!
my dad is a mechanic 40yrs
told him about scotty and sent him a couple videos.
god bless scotty !
Nice to see the AJT-Designs climate control knobs! My '09 Tacoma SR5 DLT (Dad's Last Truck) now has AJT-Design's screw-back fob cases, 4-pack climate control knobs (in case I want to change the 4wd selector), battery clamp and billet shift knob. Sound deadening installed in doors with upgrade speakers, single-DIN stereo receiver, and looking forward to installing LCE Performance Street Header kit (10% more hp, same mpg as fuel efficiency is related to weight). Thanks, Scotty!
I love your videos about tundras. Looking to buy a used one in the near future. 👍👍
Awesome. I had no idea Toyota installed Superchargers.
Scotty is the coolest dude on RUclips.
We need a video on what plastic parts that need to be replaced on late models of Toyotas and Hondas.
You should review the new Tundra and Sequoias with the new turbo V6 hybrid combo. The CarCareNut reviewed it and determined Toyota has gone German in how complicated and potentially problematic this new powertrain could be long term.
Superchargers are very cool but you can almost see the gas gauge go down when you punch it :)
@rickroemer8391 you don't even need the supercharger for that just turning the key you can watch it go straight to empty. My 13 5.7 TRD off-road 4x4 crewmax with 4inch lift 33.1250x20 gets 6mpg and that's babying it $515+ a week to go to work and I don't have a supercharger but will be installing a turbo setup.
@@speeedy95 Wow that's some wicked gas mileage
@rickroemer8391 Yeah, it sucks I wanted an 83 crew cab 4x4 4 speed manual 454 squarebody. Found 1 in excellent shape with all records and 110,000 original miles $4,500. My dad wouldn't let me get it because he said it's a gas hog. Well, he's been regretting that decision as my Tundra is just as much of a gas hog as a 454, and it's also a money pit. Everything for these trucks is outrageously expensive. Mine keeps blowing head gaskets and constantly losing 3rd and reverse in the transmission.
@@speeedy95 Nonsense!
Those things drive so nice. Like driving a car. Great truck.
At 7:50 Scotty Like that one the Traction Control Light was flashing on the Dash 🛻💨
I have a super charger in my 01 lightning and I smile like that too cause it is a cool sound. I never listen to the radio in it. Great channel! Thank you
I supercharged my manual 03 3.4 v6 Tacoma at 240'000 miles and now have over 300k and it is still reliable and rips!
Okay, I want a Tundra with a Supercharger. Put that in my list!
Holy Crap! A fellow Tundra owner with an ARB Bumper on it. That is the second one I’ve seen! Mine being the first. Now I just need a supercharger!
An old car and the lovely manual transmission. Will run forever, so nice. And can take the super charger extra power, too.
Scotty always puts a smile on my face. His grandson is a lucky kid.
Damn 5.7 engine with super charger!
My cousin had a supercharged 2008 tundra. Done by a company in texas for toyota. With a tune and exhaust 13.5 @101 in the 1/4 with stock tires
On my tacoma, the secondary air injection pump has a foam filter inside it that will deteriorate over time and funk up your system. To avoid this, you remove the old filter and put on a small pod filter. I used a small k&n.
Can someone take Scotty's rants and put some music to it? Would make a good tune/rap.
"My friend Bernie in Albuquerque..." It's right up there with "This one time, at Band Camp..."
The f 150's of the 90's with the 5.0 litre were the first trucks I've seen with a charger. You could do burnouts up to third and fourth. But mind you those tires will bald so fast. The rears will be gone before the fronts.
I love this Tundra 😀, I wish I had one but I would have to have a fortune just to keep gasoline in the tank
I wanted that Toyota TRD supercharger when I bought my new Tundra back then . But they told me that 2017 was the last year Toyota would install the actual factory blower , with the included factory warrantee coverage . They offered a custom aftermarket blower but that wasn't covered under the Toyota warrantee .
I have the Carhartt seat covers in my truck and love them.
I remember when the last one came off the line here in Indiana when they moved them to San Antonio. They didn't make the column shift Tundras very long before they all went to console Shift.
My 2010 Tundra 5.7 with 221k miles is within 1% of perfect on the fuel trim on both banks. Thinking the supercharger may be causing the 3% variation.
Also Hewitt makes a little black box that is a plug-n-play solution for secondary air system issues, and costs about $400.
Good afternoon scotty ✌️
I love your shows Scotty your great man. You make me laugh. Your great 👍.
And don't forget the Air filters at least once a year. If you're on dusty roads I'd change it twice a year. And you don't need a K-N filter unless You actually keep it washed and reoiled or whatever is sprayed on the outside the 🧐.
AEM DryFlow filters don't need oil.
Just clean them twice a year and dry overnight.
ScotSter.. TURN your Volume Down! LOL.. Luv YA!!
Hey scotty, I seen you on a car show long time ago talking about gear vendors. Do guys put that in there trucks still over there? I've only found it in 80's Era ford 250's with a 4 speed.
Hey Scotty I saw one of your videos about the Chevy blazer and how bad it is. I was wondering how Chevy s10s compare to the blazer
Thanks Scotty
Scotty looked so happy when he put his foot on the throttle
That’s pretty cool I never thought of a supercharger with a tundra!
Yes Scotty! I ❤️ my Toyota Tundra crewmax limited 💪 on my way to the million miles Tundra club 👍👍
I’m obsessed with his banter. Hilarious
I'll never understand why Toyota replaced the 32v 350c.i. with a twin turbo hybrid to give you 1 more MPG, and if you put your foot in it, you don't even get that 1 MPG. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot...
It's about emissions and planned obsolescence.
the trick is to sell the number.
You WILL get better MPG out of a smaller engine, if you drive slow.
You WILL get more horsepower out of a turbo-engine, if you step on it.
So, they sell you both the MPG and the horsepower - but, in reality, you get neither!
You can't have fun on the road because it's illegal and you are stuck in traffic anyway AND nobody really drives slow enough to get the better mileage :D
The turbos produce insane torque numbers for towing.
I’ll keep my 5.7
@@todorkolev7565 you are also forgetting about the 10sp and rear end ratio that truly saves the mileage. 4.30 rear on the V8 trucks is insane compared to anyone elses offering these days haha. Gee how did they manage better economy with the 22+ variant? Haha.
@@davidmann2988I'm gonna turbo my 5.7
Would you be able to do a video to show us how to change the air injection pump on a 2007 tundra 5.7liter? I'm having the same issue and the dealer is no help even though I got the warranty paperwork which unfortunately cut off at 150,000 mi or 10 years.
@ 1:41 what seat covers do you have Scotty ? I need some durable weather-proof seat covers for 1st Gen. Highlander.
Scotty is speaking facts! Forget the new tundra. I'm keeping my 5.7 and supercharge it.
Looks very close to mine. I don't have a supercharger. I have a 2013 5.7. I even have the same shifter like this one. Love it. Got her used in 2021 with 110K. Runs like a clock. She loves gas though lol.
I got a 13 last year it's a crewmax with the console shifter 6mpg and it's been nothin but a money pit constantly blows head gaskets and loosing reverse in transmission.
@@speeedy95 That sucks. Sounds like you picked a lemon. Hope you get her all squared away. Or get rid of it hehe.
@CrowT I'm stuck with it ain't nobody gonna give me the $24,000 I still owe on it. 198k miles and it's 1 thing after another. As soon as I got home from the dealership the day I purchased it 4x4 immediately broke needs transfercase. Warranty kept screwing me over wouldn't fix it. To make it start you have to bang on transfercase and starter cause when you turn the key on it immediately starts beeping and flashing 4lo. It thinks it's in 4lo when it's in 2wd. My last 1 was a 06 4x4 and it was junk 2. Constant steering and 4x4vproblems and at 200k miles the frame literally fell out from underneath the right front of it.
They sell bypass kits that allow you to remove those annoying O2 pumps that fail and keep the related codes from coming back.
My ex’s 4Runner had that exact same code
I had a 1993 T-Bird super coupe with a supercharged V6. Cracked head gasket and blew two different radiators.
Ya my 1996 Tacoma just cracked the radiator (thankfully at the top). Big deal around here is finding a place that will fix a 20+ year old car.
anyone know the valve cover torque specs and sequence for 2008 dodge charger sxt I’ve been trying to find it but idk if I found the right one cause it seems like everyone is different does it really matter or no?need help lmao
Air injection pumps?? Reminds me of the dreaded smog pumps at the beginning of the smog era. LOL
I have a 2008 Honda Accord with 212,398 miles. The AC is cold sometimes when I start the car. Sometimes it's hot. What causes this?
Scotty, I hope you treat yourself to a nice vehicle. I know living modestly is probably where it's at for you though. I believe you can work hard and live modestly all while buying something good for yourself once in a while. You get the benefits of both
I believe there is a bypass for the secondary bypass
Hey Scotty,
Toyota replaced my the air pumps on my 2010 Tundra in about 2017 with over 200,000 Km’s on my truck
Pretty cool Scotty, bet it's a lot of fun to drive. 😎👌👍
My tundra was recalled for the air pump. They claimed it was a software issue.
Tundras are the best truck ever made
Decaf my friend. Almost had a seizure with all the camera bouncing around.
I used new after market ones with genuine Toyota switching valves, for less than 600 bucks, and that was both pumps and updated trumpets
Toyota Matrix is my dream car !✌️😎
I had the same truck there is a recalled on those pumps. They wanted to charge me to $500. I got it done for free.
Evening Scotty !!!
The car seat covers will interfere with the side airbag I would believe
Where to get the seat covers like in your wife's car. We need some for a 2015 RAV4
Well they sell a supercharged Cadillac Escalade from dealership I bet it’s properly tuned similar to the ford raptor so clearly Chevy does make good engines too
Can't really blame Toyota for the new engines. The government gets involved and ruins everything. 5.9 Cummins, 300 straight 6, 7.3 powerstroke.
I don't even know how much you paid for it, but I know for sure you got a steal of a deal. Got a 2010 Tundra with 280k miles with 0 issues.
Toyotas are built to last but it's sad that car manufactures are moving into electric vehicle nonsense.
The only electric cars I like are my Traxxas models
It's not nonsense, ppl just don't like changes.
Electric cars are the future so, yea.
@@lordofphotographyI know, these sheep can't be helped.
@@ThomasKing19933 yep just fall in line to their own demise because the people telling them to do so says it’s for their own good 😂 worse for the environment, less distance traveled, more expensive, California says you can’t charge during peak demand times.
Less is more in the car world. Everything Manuel operated. Only extras I need is an ac and a turbo on the diesel with mechanical pump. What it ain't got can't breakdown.
Mr. Scotty, would you consider making a video of the 1st gen nissan titan? We of all the titan lovers would love to hear your opinion about our truck preference. Considering there have been a lot of bad reviews from the 1st gen but overall there also many of us has a good experience about it. I love your channel and has been a watcher since 2017.
Titan v8: more power than Tundra v8 and a little better mileage, though still thirsty. Nissan engines usually are very tough too. And sound great.
Media lives to bash Nissan, but owners love them. Been driving them over 40 years now, but can't afford gas for Titan, so I have little Nissans.
I put that ATS gas and oil stuff in my Cadillac XTS and ended up putting a couple Grand into replacing plugs and gaskets and PCV valves and hoses and then found out the valves were gummed up with carbon so I had those cleaned sort of... It ran good for about a week and then I came off the highway and suddenly hear this loud ticking and a complete loss of power. I was told that some part above the lifters or rods had cracked! So I had a choice of rebuilding the entire crappy engine or putting a used one in. Cost me another four grand because I just can't afford getting into something new. When I tried to find out if anybody in the Midwest had their system for cleaning the rest of the intake your buddies in New Mexico hemmed and hawed and wouldn't tell me what repair shops had their equipment for that! I think they're a scam and I'm considering taking them to court for screwing up my motor.
@Howard Luke’s it sounds like your Cadillac motor was bad in the first place. Scotty has used this on many cars with no issues, and if his customers has horror stories he wouldn’t be famous. Your Cadillac engine was probably worn out already. Ask Scotty, he’s probably say the exact same thing as I just did. It’s pretty common on those Cadillac
Yeah, Gm also had a design flaw with their secondary air injection pump hose, where it was too short and water would get in the pump and corrode them, and there was never a recall on them, so I have to replace it myself on my 2000 Sonoma.
The guy has a supercharged engine, and baloony skin tires. Nice deadly combo.
Woah that baby takes off
Your camera shake is giving me motion sickness!😂
Scotty or ? What other seat cover is worth the money for durability?
So, who does the bell toll for ?
"Don't listen to advertising it's a bunch of crap". Lol Go Scotty!
Hey Scotty, are any of your kids or grandkids mechanics??
i have been lucky checking batterys first
Hay, Scott 03 envoy check engine light on nobody know why can u help?
Scan tool....use it?
That is one sweet Toy.
My son has a 2011 Tacoma TRD with a V6 and dealer installed supercharger since new. That and the 6” Fabtech lift gives him an off-road monster. In his business, he has a need to go deep in the backcountry, so that extra HP really comes in handy.
Hey Scotty I just bought a new battery charger and it says it has a desulfator Does that really work ?
Read the charger reviews????
CTEK chargers appear to be able to bring new life to a lot of batteries that otherwise would be "dead" from sulphation......
At the very least they completely charge batteries which can extend battery life especially in winter conditions...
Love my ‘11 Crewmax. Only 77k on the odo. Local stealership wants 10k for the supercharger, installed. I can live without it. I offered 7500 and never heard back.
A Scotty joke: "My Toyota Matrix is a sleeper too! I can fold down the back seat and sleep in it!
I have a Tundra. Great truck except frame is rusting out. I participated in the factory inspection some years back and was told all was good. Now the mechanic at Toyota dealer tells me all is not good. Am unsure what to do. The frame for this truck is no longer available from Toyota.
Did you get that "good" opinion in writing?
Wish I had one put on mine when it was new. Still love my v8 tundra
The guy that got the new Tundra wish he kept his old V8.
My volkswagen has 100k miles on it, and it still runs flawlessly. No problems
