As a first time reader of the Dune series (currently reading Heretics of Dune), I appreciate these videos, provides a greater degree of understanding behind the vastness of this world that Frank created and Brian extended.
Dune is such a wierd story. We go from "oh these face dancers are kinda cool" to "they can absorb the memories of multiple other people" thats got some implications to it. All the way to full blown Lovecraft level "omnipotent gods at a level mere mortals can never comprehend"
I really enjoyed this video. Long, sure, but when I noticed it was already ending (noticed when the narrator asked to write in the comment what we thought of the video 😅 One thing that always stuck with me, on the importance of the Bene Tleilaxu, on the scheme of things (and that Leto II certainly was fully aware) is the gholas of Duncan (and that the reformed Bene Gesserit past God Emperor continue without realizing)... The reason, for me, that Duncan was past the Kwisatz Haderach level (more than being THE Ultimate Kwisatz Haderach) it's that his power of prescience didn't came from "other memories", it came from his own memories, he lived enough lives to witness the 3500 or so years of reign of the God Emperor, mastering several expertises along the several lives, himself and not a ancestor, so not only he personally reawakens with all that PERSONAL knowledge and expertise, he's not subject to the risk of abomination from relying on the other memories, all the connections he needs to do are in his head as his own. Even Leto II, who was a preborn, was far from Duncan's fully awaken powers... and Leto II surely knew what Duncan would become, he knew Duncan was the focal point where everything would either make or brake, in the future. I always tought all Leto II did was give enough time and enough slack for Duncan(s) to finally realize his potential.
Cool video, I'd read the original dune series and the prequel trilogy. For what it's worth, I think Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson did a decent job at providing a decent ending, I mean, we may never know what the final book would have been plot-wise , if Frank Herbert had lived long enough to write it in it's entirety.
Well, I know I’m in the minority but the expanded books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson. I consider them canon to Frank Herbert‘s original books. They’re a little messy but and the style was different from Frank Herbert‘s writing style, but I still consider them Cannon again. I know I’m in the minority on that.
Love the dialogue but not the images. I think they are more gremlin like…diminutive and pointy teeth. They say it themselves…they bred themselves to look weak and unassuming yet terrifying at the same time.
i am so sad the way so many hate Brian and Kevin's work Frank was dead for a long time before Brian went ahead to expand the universe so no one has to read the novels if you want your exprence to only be Frank's vision i liked to have an expanded universe that i can take or leave what i may not like
How could the TL’s KZ been stopped by the witch’s daughter? Messiah is only like 10yrs after paul takes the thrown. A 9 yr old managed to stop a KZ? Weird 🤔🤷🏻♂️
I'm not sure these are effective. They just ramble on and on, with waaaaay too much information to digest at once. This universe is quite expansive and too much content at once makes it easy to lose context of why these characters matter in the current adaptations developed or being developed for live action viewing.
The fact that the non-Frank books became such total bollocks is why I don't see them as canon. They are such a complete mess that it feels like they would never have been published if not for leeching off Frank Herbert's creation. They make the entire story a convoluted mess because that directly contradict the Dune novels. They could have had a return to the thinking machines, just have them unable to fully destroy humanity because of how it had been spread across the cosmos. They could have had pseudo-machines that approached the ability of prescience due to quantum bullshit, but couldn't actually have true prescience due to the interference of Leto II. Instead they basically shrugged and went "Kralizec was the thinking machines all along."
This is a damn good video, I think you're the only person with the extended Dune universe explained, thanks.
“Quinn’s ideas” has some great Dune universe videos, as well 👍

you could say there is a few horrors beyond human comprehension...worming around here and there in Dune :D

Good video but Mentats don't have imperial conditioning, that's the Suk doctors

Dune feels like Star Wars on magic mushrooms

damn, all this mess is religion based, the scary part is that this religious cancer is spreading at an alarming rate in the real world.
????????
It's always been here.. always will be.
It's actually a critique on religion. I hate it myself so take my word Dune isn't really preachy about religion
It's not going anywhere so better buckle up

Oh lordy...Brian Herbert really REALLY hurts my head.
what the hell? all this time, I didnt know thats what the tanks were. WTF
Johnny Cage called wanted a stand in evil sorcerer 😜
This sounds like the voice was stolen from Rob from comics explained and turned into a slower AI version.

Too long. I think a 10 min vid may be better
Just right, it is a complex story. That is what's wrong with the younger generation.
😂😂10 min is not enough time to explain any origin of dune
