To be quite frank, it does make sense that the legs would be the weak point of the mechs called Metal Gears. In order for such automatons to move as they do (along with any suit of armor, including plate), they need points of articulation, which we call joints. And those provide gaps in the armor that can be exploited, which we often see being done in history concerning armored knights.

That picture of the Barretta M9 Double Action during the intro (92F is the civilian model) was the most well drawn thing I have ever seen 8-bit hardware achieve. It looks every bit as good as the same weapon stills in Resident Evil for the Playstation/Saturn. Here is what always bothered me about this game and the entire MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ Standard. Why didn't Sega ever attempt to get ports of MSX games for their Mark III and Master System? The Master System and MSX Standard share so many similarities it would have been easy to do. Can you imagine Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid for the SMS?! That would have been huge and given how Kojima felt about Nintendo a possibility. Damn. Addendum- "NASA Special Forces?" What? NASA does not employ military or paramilitary forces. They do not have spec ops at all. Are they supposed to be fighting aliens? Kojima must have meant NSA. Hey, the MSX standard is not to blame for Sega incompetence. :) But what you said is mostly true. But much worse nowadays, for homebrew games. Konami was tethered to Nintendo at the time of SMS' relevancy on the market and third parties had to effectively swear allegiance to Nintendo if they published on the NES/Famicom, otherwise they had to outsource programming of SMS ports to Sega themselves (something Capcom did by the late 80s/early 90s). Konami also didn't want to lose revenue on a system that was overwhelmingly unpopular in the States and especially Japan, where the system was killed off as early as 1989. And "how Kojima felt about Nintendo a possibility" ? Kojima had nothing but admiration for Nintendo considering SMB was the game that convinced to work in video games and is a friend to Miyamoto. His only animosity was towards the shitty NES port of Metal Gear and the liberties his colleagues at Konami took with it.
I've been reading up on the people in the credits. We all know Hideo Kojima had a huge falling out with Konami and now works independently. I believe Isao Okada is still one of their senior programmers. Yoshihiko Ota is the principal of the Konami eSports school in Ginza, Tokyo. Kazuhiko Uehara is currently chief of administration and public relations.
Wow....I cannot believe how detailed this game is in some aspects. For example, during a transmitter discussion just before the fight with "Night Sight," Snakes favorite fan tells him some facts about his upcoming battle. Now, I have been a firearms collector my entire adult life and I have never heard of this weapon. Oh but it truly is... It is a Chinese made Norinco QSW-06 suppressed pistol. The gun replaced the old Chinese Type 67 for clandestine operations and features a built-in suppressor. The entire weapon is built around the suppressor and when used in conjunction with subsonic ammunition is whisper quite. When fired with said ammunition the only thing that can be heard is the action of the slide. That's not only terrifying but also an incredible feat of engineering. I hate tipping my hat to Communists for anything but they did a great job there. Now, I wonder if the pistol holds together after long-term use or is it made from substandard materials? Hmmm... Addendum- My God man, that guy takes like 50+ rounds to drop! Screw his stealth camo and crazy suppressed Chinese gun...I want his Kevlar. Oh and the group Fox talks about being apart of "Renamo" is very real.
Gray Fox looks like Tom Berenger and Roy Campbell like Colonel Trautman from the Rambo movies. Not sure who Holly is supposed to look like, Kim Basinger maybe?

What a needlessly difficult game….aside from the cut scenes and dialogue that looked like an absolute chore to play…that backtracking was something else eh!?
If you noticed, in the MSX version of MG2: Solid Snake, all characters have the faces from actors of Hollywood, for example, Solid Snake have Mel Gibson's Face but in the HD Collection and Master Collection, for evade the copyright, was redisigne all faces of characters from 0, that is why Solid Snake looks identical in his own version of Metal Gear Solid from PS1.
It's a nice walkthrough, but besides the English patch, it would be better to also have applied the turbofix patch and have run it on a MSX Turbo-R. It's a much smoother experience. :)

BTW, I forgot to mention Columns. It's also worth checking.
Thanks for the upload. Your guide for MG1 has been immensely helpful, and I'm looking forward to using this one to play through MG2 as well :]
Watched that on 2x speed in one sitting and I'm feeling pretty weird.
This intro translation seems much closer to the official one Konami did for Subsistence. I approve.
Thanks for an awesome guide, again. I loved the first one, but this? Such mechanics, OST, dialogues... 1990. No words
Make me want to watch Fat Albert now.
My favourite computer game.
Great job! Thank you very much especially for timecodes.
Great walkthrough! Never would've finished the game without it!
Thank you for your videos man this is so helpful saw your Metal gear walkthrough too
Glad you like them! :)
These MSX Games seriously should get a modern remake! IN 3D
One of my favourite games EVER
Was so hard beat it, the history is AMAZING, and the soundtrack... No words!
Thank you Kojima sensei!
Merry Christmas to Metal Gear fans! 🎄🎄🎄
Thanks for making this!
Playing this through the collection and this guide is extremely helpful.
2:46:14 yet Snake still considers him his friend years later
Fox made it right by sacrificing himself to take out the radome in MGS1
Great video again mate - your video on Metal Gear helped me out yesterday and this one for the MG2 was excellent too. Thanks again for the hustle mate
Snake modeled to look like Mel Gibson? And Big Boss looks like Sean Connery
They look same but un spanish versión look diferents,
In the original version they were modeled to look like Hollywood actors. They changed it in the version included in MGS HD Collection
Petrovich also looks like Einstein
Gray Fox looks like Tom Berenger and Roy Campbell like Colonel Trautman from the Rambo movies. Not sure who Holly is supposed to look like, Kim Basinger maybe?
@@robins5798 I think she looked more to Sharon Stone
It's looks similar than GBC game ( by the way one of the best ones) but different story. Great job man.
i love this game better than the first. Great job overall.
Big Boss looks like Sean Connery with an eyepatch
Boss 1: Black Color - 23:42
Boss 2: Running Man - 54:44
Boss 3: Hind-D - 01:09:00
Boss 4: Red Blaster - 1:27:06
Boss 5: Ultrabox - 2:46:50
Boss 6: Predator - 3:01:52
Boss 7: Night Sight - 3:18:34
Boss 8: Drago Pettrovich Madnar - 3:31:22
Boss 9: Metal Gear D - 4:15:55
Boss 10: Gray Fox - 4:18:07

Yet again thank you so much for this guide I found both of these mgs arcade games super difficult without it 😊
"i really, really hate men with guns!"
.
[walks away and pulls out gun]
Watch the whole thing at 1.75x speed for the best experiance
Thank you. This game is unbearably slow.
This is my favorite metal gear!
Good thing this game is returning as part of Metal Gear Solid Masters Collection Vol 1.
Just finished the game, your guide helped a lot, thanks❤
lol
Awesome walkthrough thank you
I can not believe this game it’s from 1990 , That was unbelievable amazing great
Thank you for this! You got me through the game! I never got around to checking these out on the HD collection on PS3 but gave them a proper shot on the PS5 collection and loved them.
That being said, how the hell did people complete these back on the MSX? I would not have been able to do them without a walkthrough 😭
I wish they would remake this. Imagine Snake VS. Gray Fox - a key part of the MGS story
- with MGS4 boss battle mechanics.
poor guy playing this long, he deserves more subscribers
16:12 How do you salute the gustava in the metal gear solid master collection version?
2:28:12 What is the cassette for? I skipped it and finished the game without it and had no problems.
It's for distracting guards
Thank you ♥️
Thank you !!! Finished mg 1 thanks to your guide and now this game too
if this game had scrolling and a little bit better frames of animation this would be favorite game of mine
if u play the mgs3 subsistence version they made the frames ALOT better
Thanks man, really helped me out
Was those graphics running on an 8-bit or 16bit system? Either the way, it is such a beautifully made game. The music really got me into it too lol
This is a massive step up from the first one, great soundtrack aswell.
merci pour ta vidéo,grace a toi,j'ai pu retrouver le chemin vers le 4f pour congeler la broche pour enfin acceder a la suite,le casier, apres le boss scientifique, merci beaucoup ^^
If they had made a movie of this, Sean Connery would've had to have been Big Boss, since the game has him looking like Connery with an eyepatch.
Metal gear 2 solid Snake is legendary with Spectacular graphics and STUNNING gameplay
Starring mel Gibson, Richard Crenna and Sean Connery
Snake's favorite being "Lucky Strikers" made me giggle
I've been playing this one and it's amazing and it deserves more credit than it got! I know snakes revenge isn't canon but I enjoyed it alot also!
Not Chevy.
I was trying to beat the game without walkthrough, but I get stuck at 34:44. I thought it was me who doesnt knew what to do, but this boss wont appear for me, I enter there, walk around every room and nothing happens
Thanks for these walkthroughs. I got lost alot
0:32 this theme is in smash brawl
If Sean Connery was alive, he would of played a great Boss.
Masterpiece!
2:00:11 why is there an elevator in the women's bathroom?!?!?!?!?!?
This game is so cryptic, idk why people like it
I hate that the modern art doesn't show the characters lips move when they talk. It's minor but it helps to see who's speaking.
47:03 Joe Rogen!!! What the heck are you doing here?
he's MAGA
What a needlessly difficult game….aside from the cut scenes and dialogue that looked like an absolute chore to play…that backtracking was something else eh!?
Great walkthrough. My god the bosses are such bullet sponges.
Thanks bro por your help, im finally finishing this game too ❤
If you noticed, in the MSX version of MG2: Solid Snake, all characters have the faces from actors of Hollywood, for example, Solid Snake have Mel Gibson's Face but in the HD Collection and Master Collection, for evade the copyright, was redisigne all faces of characters from 0, that is why Solid Snake looks identical in his own version of Metal Gear Solid from PS1.
Thanks! exited near the half point of the game without saving first... had to watch it on yt after that
It's a nice walkthrough, but besides the English patch, it would be better to also have applied the turbofix patch and have run it on a MSX Turbo-R. It's a much smoother experience. :)
This gudie is super helpful well done.
How did you get the original versions translated to english? The MGS3 versions have different character sprites.
4:47:17 This was a very memorable feeling after all the calamities faced 33 years ago . But this is still giving me tears
Thank you so much for your guide 🎉
can't believe how many pixels thus game has!!!!!!! the graphics are amazing!!!!! "frfr no cap" as they say!!!
Thanks again! Just completed this rigorous gameeee.. pheww.. 😮💨
