This is the phone I wanted as a teen but never got. Until now! I just had to buy it on eBay! I carry it around as my work phone. I really miss flip phones.
I love smartphones but I miss the exciting feeling of new phones coming out that were so different from each other. And having features that feel manual, like flipping the phone. It was just a cool feeling. But I guess we just can't go back. Those phone designs aren't practical on smartphones. I guess that goes to show to live everyday to the fullest, because there will come a time when TODAY will be a day you'll look back on and would wanna go back. Save your old phones. They make a good time capsule. You see the operating system you used to look at all the time in a certain part of your life, see pictures you took, texts you got and sent, notes you wrote etc. it takes you back to a younger version of yourself in a different time. We look at our phones so often, it's crazy that they can do that. 💕✌🏼
Couldn't agree more! We think alike, I still have my razor from 2006, I got the iPhone in 07 but I destroyed it in 2010 cause I wanted to see what was inside it.. I know I know but I was 16 at the time and stupid lol, I regret destroying it especially realizing how the first iPhone is now a collectors item.
We CAN still have flip phones today With the smart phone technology its just the people that make these phones don't wana do it over here in the U.S in China they have Samsung flip phones with android technology WHY CAN'T WE HAVE IT OVER HERE, SINCE IT IS POSSIBLE WHY NOT
My mom and I both had the Razr starting in 2006. I had a black one and my mom had the Dolce & Gabbana gold one (1:29) because of course my mom had to have the best of all the moms. I was the first in my social circle to get the Razr, my friends all got Razrs after I did. Then I got my first iPhone in 2008 (the 3G) and my mom upgraded to the iPhone in 2012 and while we both love the iPhone, I still miss my Razr days.
EveryThingTech -Nick Ackerman So was I until I received my NIB V3xx yesterday. Ordered a spare V3xx today. Now I hnave 2, V3 phones and 2 V3xx phones. I like the V3/V3xx more than the V9x. I broke 2 V9x phones and still have 2 working V3s from before the V9x. Don't need or want a smart phone. I talk and occasionally text. Call quality on the V/'V3xx is outstanding
EveryThingTech -Nick Ackerman I bought my V3 when the old TDMA system was disbanded. (I still have my Nokia 3520.) My V3 has worked flawlessly, although the SIM did expire, the battery died when I forgot my charger (standard USB cable would NOT charge it), and I can't get any Motorola software to connect to it in Windows 7. I do not have a data plan, so I have no real options for receiving/sending photos/videos. Bought it strictly for its bluetooth capability. I can't bring myself to replace it!
+ZenithZephyroth I saw that teaser video that Motorola released a few days ago that put the rumor mill into overdrive with a new RAZR clamshell. While I really what this rumor to be true, I'm trying to keep my excitement in check and not get to hopeful in case it doesn't
I remember when my dad first got one. I would laugh at the hello moto ringtone and gosh good memories. I miss those days without smartphones when I was little we would always play outside seems like now in days kids are inside with their smartphones or tablet :'(.
I had one early on and it was the IT phone to have, especially as a 21 year old at the time. Its hard to tell you what it felt like to have one but its very similar to the feeling of having an iphone for the first time(2009). You felt like you had the absolute top tier of technology in your pocket and not many others had it(at one time). As opposed to now where everyone has an iphone and its not special to see one anymore. Mine had a hard royal blue case on it. I still miss how basic it was, but it turned heads. Miss my Razr
Still use my V3 as a backup to my iPhone X. It’s great to sometimes just roll with the V3 “dumb phone” rather than the smartphone. Battery lasts 2+ days with very little use, I use a Giff Gaff sim at £5 a month.
I was in grade 9 when I had my first phone in 2004 and it was Moto Razr V3... I was the coolest dude in class for having this metallic style Keypad phone.. being interested in software designs since grade 9 I was tweaking Motorolla software on the phone and added myself video capabilities on the phone !!! I became cooler in the class for doing that lol.. then, of course, Motorolla announced the V3i model that has video taking capabilities and I bought that as well in grades 10 and 11.. ahh those were sweet memories of the past.
Remeber when dropping this phone but nothing really happend to it and it just flipped open like, 'he buddy, I'm just fine'? good old times when phones didnt crack from 1 meter drops.
There was a droid RAZR, they need to bring it back out with an updated design and great specs, the moto x line is good and all but its nothing like having a RAZR
Marsh C True that, I had a black one and my mom had the gold Dolce & Gabbana one at 1:29 because my mom needed to have only the best. She now has the gold iPhone 6.
This was my second phone. Of all the qualities listed, I won't miss texting with it - even if by the end up its update cycle I was getting fairly quick at it. Thanks for this walk down memory lane of this iconic masterpiece.
The phone had a very funny bug: Normally if you closed your phone you ended up the call. But if you turned the loud speakers on while having the phone call and then closing the phone, the call didn’t stop. I remember listening to my Dad and my brother who were starting to make fun about me, not knowing I was still listening :D At the end I was to person who hang up ^^
I wish that they could bring back a retro vesion of this phone. Flip phones are making a comeback, albeit a small share of the market in camparison with their smartphone counterparts, and I would love to have one of these again.
My first expensive phone was this bad boy, i had a bulkier one before this one (nokia black and green screen flip phone ) '02 -'03 but in '04 this was it. It was awesome, screen was "huge" and with color, it had a camera and yes video recording up to 30 seconds!! LoL, but it had very i mean very low memory so i couldn't put music in it. Ring tones were $1.99. It supported up to 3 custom ring tones. I upgraded to the LG Shine in '06 which had expandable memory for music and flash photography on 2 megapixles. Sidekick in '09, my first Android phone (moto cliq) in '11, then the Galaxy S3, S4, and now in '15 the beautiful Galaxy S6.
I had one and really loved it! It was slim, sleek and looked high tech. Then the screen died.....and that was the end of my Razor. I often wonder if they could make a new Razor with the flip style, but with current tech features and function....That would be my perfect phone! I'm getting tired of the candy bar style iphones.
Pascal Significa Me too. But I still have my Black RAZR for emergency use (like when I go overseas and I have to use a SIM card instead of Verizon's CDMA).
Kevin Burgess Me too, mainly for nostalgia purposes but also for when I go overseas and I need to switch SIM cards (which I can't do on my Verizon iPhone).
***** I can use mine now, but I keep it in reserve. The newer smartphones are wonderfully smart, powerful computing devices with hundreds of applications available. However, while travelling they do not have the power to reach further like these old devices. For simple communications no other cell phone was made as well as the Razr V3.
Kevin Burgess I hear ya! I do use my RAZR for emergency use like if my iPhone's battery dies, I have no Verizon reception (both of which are rare) or if I just wanna make a quick call and don't feel like texting anyone. I still love that phone.
aizat27 Just get a case with magnetic flap, problem solved. Flip phones are not optimal for touch controls. I guess they can make 'em dual screen, but no one is going to build a custom OS nowadays, so they'll probably go with an Android, and end up with a lot of compatibility and usability issues, in both dual-touch-screen and keyboard-input-only versions. So unless there will be strong following behind it, only stock and a handful of 3rd party apps will be useful and usable on that phone. Google: _Sony Tablet P_, watch reviews, you'll see what's wrong with that concept (btw, I like it, but it's just not marketable).
I remember I had this exact phone. My mom bought it for herself but then her work have her a blackberry and she gave me the razor. I was like the coolest 13 year old in middle school until somebody bought the first iPhone haha!
actually later revisions did have all that depending on the carrier you used. its cousins the ROKR and SLVR were the reason the RAZR didnt have much of a music player and it needed iTunes.
This was really the last big, popular phone before the IPhone came out in 2007.
Blackberry?
Blackberry curve
This is the phone I wanted as a teen but never got. Until now! I just had to buy it on eBay! I carry it around as my work phone. I really miss flip phones.
Yeah, touch screens are too mainstream. Flip phones are classy.
+toinentyyppi I got one when it first came out for $300+ ..it was a lot of money back then :)
I'm doing same thing . Everyone I know is wondering what is wrong with me - hahaha
I know the Razr was the OG of all flip phones, but if you want to retain functionality, I hear Samsung's new smart flip phone is awesome.
I'm thinking about doing this to unplug for a bit to be honest.

the "snap" to hang up was absolute sass material! and so satisfying!!
I remember the days when I didn't have to look at the phone when I type a message under the table in class :
Yeah we were pro at these things xD
Brings tears to my eyes. Good old days
This phone was basically the iPhone of it's time.
Lmao I had the pink one xD now I love black
Jack The Ripper No it wasn't the iphone of the time cause it worked well.
@@Stella-ke7xb 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I completely agree
@@Stella-ke7xb so true
I agree! Mine was pink and I just bought another one just for old times sake
I'm still using this phone as my daily driver lol

I was the coolest kid in middle school with this phone.
Please Motorola, make an updated Android version of the RAZR flip. I would def buy one
+TheWolfHowling your wish has been granted.. they will release a new flip razr in Spetember 2016

Why not mobile phone companies make smartphones that can flip. Thus, we don't have to worry about phone screens getting cracked anymore.
