It might not just be a result of builder incompetence, but time. Maybe these builders have been given an unrealistic time frame to build a home, and end up cutting corners, and making mistakes. I think this is something worth considering. Good luck with your dream home!
@@kubabooba548 i'd disagree with that. They give their own timelines. You don't walk in to a property of land and say i want this house and i want it built in this time frame. They sell you homes off plans with their own timelines. I would love to do this for my trade, its terrible
@@supmikey123depends who you employ. Most will give you a quote with the timeframe. They will then employ tradies to complete the job. If there's a shortage of tradies are you willing to wait 5 months to get it done? I think not.

The only difference between the buildings and the rubble pile in the yard is that the buildings have been assembled to allow people inside it more easily.
Are all the protruding nails in the roof framing not a safety issue? Excellent work, your opening up a lot of people's eyes. This needs regulations enforced from the top down. If council inspectors don't enforce rules, then there's no pressure on those they inspect! This is costing owners. Plus the building industry its reputation. 😢
If you have any defects or non compliances, you must declare them to your home insurance or claims will be denied. They may offer insurance, however they will insist that rectifications are undertaken. The implications of the cowboy builds, has so many implications for a home owner.
The issue you have is inspectors that if the have a certificate of compliance from tradesmen then they won't check that area. Most won't even look in the roof cavity.
Can I suggest that apart from showing the "non compliance" issues that you also comment on why it needs to be compliant as in with the sarking not going into the valley that any water at that point will go under the valley and onto the timber substructure and potentially further. Might be obvious to some but other people watching may not understand the obvious.
Great video thanks again for exposing this sloppy craftsmanship. Can I suggest you add a lazer pointer to your audio key chain. A lazer would be handy to point out faults inside the roof that you can’t get too and would go with a Star Wars like light saber type theme on the key ring. Just a suggestion. Laser pointers with a power output of more than one milliwatt are now prohibited weapons. You must obtain a permit to possess or use a laser pointer. You can freely build the biggest heap of **** in Australia. but will be prosecuted and fined $10,000 for using a Laser pointer over 1mw.
how likely is it that we can get you to visit and inspect some of the completed houses on The Block (channel 9, pre-sale but post-completion in October 2023) located on Charming Street, Hampton East VIC 3188 ?
The cable crossing the joist where there is more than 600mm clearance above is in breach of AS/NZS3000:2018 Section 3 wiring systems. Anywhere where there is a clearance of 600mm vertical is considered likely to be disturbed. There are other details within this section but that adds to that specific part of the video. I thought roof tiles in fire prone areas were banned and that metal was the requirement. I am in rural Act fire area and all are metal for that reason the tiles lift under wind load and the embers get in also why in our climate are the tile roofs of dart colour really bad for heat retention

G'day, Both houses: the roof spaces. Absolutely terrible, insulation all over the place. But did anyone notice no other trades people in site. They must have been hiding under the piles of rubbish. Both of these houses will be showing signs cracking to the plaster with in 6 months. I feel sorry for the people purchasing these homes.
After Watching only 4 of your videos and for someone who knows nothing about building/construction, Its VERY CLEAR the Government needs to call for an AUDIT into all the inspectors who approve these terrible homes and have their licences pulled, (and bring in a new law that requires 2 or more separate inspections from different people/companies. (i suspect many are being paid off by the builders,approve a bad building and next week annonymous cash payment made into account - Untraceable fraud)
My current house (rented)has metal frames in roof. After beign up there and seeing the structure, i dont think i would build with anything else. Saying that, the house I own has wooden trusses, but being built in 1979 has been done properly and still stands well.
It would be good if you can name and shame the actual building companies that build this garbage as it would act as a deterrent. This is must watch for any new home buyers.
All the wooden rubbish and debris directly against the wall are a termite concern to me especially with a veneer house. I've known similar houses to become riddled with the buggers

At 6:00 the chisel work for the door hinge, what'd the chippy use, a butter knife? Question are painters using quality paint or imported non standard? Some dodgy painters are using bait and switch, they put bulk paint into 20l name brand tins and turn up on site, looks legit. As soon as you smell it OMG! It also goes on badly and provides lousy coverage.

It may be as simple as cutting ORG riser down to 150 mm below shower waste, but often the ORG height can be difficult to achieve due to where is convenient to achieve compliance is not a satisfactory location from an aesthetic point of view or path of travel obstacle whilst maintaining minimum falls. It could also be as major as digging the whole sewer up and starting again. It sounds elementary, but ORG height really needs to be known and calculated in at subfloor drainage stage. The ORG is a very unassuming item, but really does stop shit hitting the fan when required.

The person who issued the Occupation Certification should have his license removed. Seems like Australia has the same issue of poor quality workmanship as we have in the UK. Time for new build contracts to have a retention clause to withhold full payment from the purchase price until the completion of all defects and non-compliant work. This needs to be a Federal and Government statutory requirement for it to work.
The problem is you are paying $450 a week in rent and a mortgage on your uncompleted new home. Although this case looks like pure fraud in my opinion as it is impossible to move in. Are any prosecutors out there with enough gumption to take on the corruption?

12:13 The air conditioner might be too close to the wall depending on the brand but normally 150mm minimum. Blockage of the rear vent will cause high gas head pressure and compressor failure. The warranty will be declined by the manufacturer even if the fault may have been a normal failure.
That's what happens when the fascia and gutters go on before the brick walls are built. They have to adjust the cavity of the walls to line up with the fascia
Hi….what about independent building inspectors which builders use for their jobs… I called my inspectors and they said any issues will come on them and not the builders … not sure who to trust now after looking at this :( … I was only planning to do a final inspection at the end due to the costs involved… will final inspection be able uncover all issues ? I can't believe the rubbish on the sites. We had to keep our sites clean. At the least tidy up at the end of the day and rubbish in a skip.

The tile at 3:40 was in fact fastened in place, it had a friction fit. Oh, my mistake, that was a fiction fit.

Is there a reason why you some times go on the roof and other times you use the drone? Is it a wind/safety thing?

That's what happens when the fascia and gutters go on before the brick walls are built. They have to adjust the cavity of the walls to line up with the fascia
By no back blocking inside the roof, do you mean there should be wood across the seam to secure it more?
You need to place plaster over the plaster joins in the roof and they must span from joist to joist....I think 😂

Hi….what about independent building inspectors which builders use for their jobs… I called my inspectors and they said any issues will come on them and not the builders … not sure who to trust now after looking at this :( … I was only planning to do a final inspection at the end due to the costs involved… will final inspection be able uncover all issues ? Structural and compliance ?
