Tobirama LITERALLY found a way to resurrect the dead. Not only that, but when perfected, it was a form of resurrection that was essentially better than just being alive; infinite chakra, virtually invincible, with optional mind control feature. That is _probably_ the single most impressive thing ever achieved in Naruto without some kind of Kekkai Genkai, or a Bijuu.
Never hated Tobirama, admired the man for his strength, genius, and ofc DRIP!! Seriously, not enough people talk about HOW unique his design is in the Naruto-verse.
One thing.. if he studdied madara after he died, then how did the whole story about madara using isanagi, using a shadow clone and escaping.. either way tobirama should of known he wasnt actually dead
@@WilliamBoyd-q5b yeah but he studied him, when i hear about some one studying a corpse it involves some cutting, which would then make the shadow clone disappear
I think Tobirama is the strongest "No hax" shinobi, no sagemode, no jinchuriki, no "eyes power". He pushed the series basic combat system to its absolute maximum. Godtier intelligence. Pragmatic in its politics, and incredible proficient in all jutsus. He is up there with hashirama and Madara with no overpowered "hacks" He laid the groundwork for much of the series, either through his politics or his jutsu creations. My favorite kage, and one of the coolest characters in the series for sure!
I think Minato is just a straight up better Shinobi though. Like Tobirama 2.0. He's a battle genius too, pragmatic and proficient. He mastered Tobirama's jutsu and made them better, along with his sealing techniques and rasengan.
@@Emot10nsminato couldn’t control every chakra element though, while Tobirama could. And ‘improving’ someone else’s technique is not as difficult as coming up with the idea and building the foundation around that technique. It’s like Building a house VS decorating the inside to make it as good as possible
@@goom3103 ohhh yeah okay like he wasn't born with a "power boost" and was still a badass. I like Lee bc he is sort of like that too. No ninjutsu or anything particularly special but he's the most badass bc he can still keep up with all of the rest
I think Tobirama has a minor capacity in wood release as one of its components is water release of which he is a master of plus both brothers actually mastered all 5 elements, but its nowhere near the level of his big brother or Yamato which is is why he focused on what he is good at more
one thing you didn't mention that i really think is central to tobirama's feelings about madara is hashirama nearly killing himself, just because madara asked. he's tobirama's last brother, and he clearly admires and respects him even through calling him an idiot. seeing the control madara had over hashirama must have been terrifying, and i really can't blame tobirama for his distrust
This is an interesting thing I didn't think about. It must have been difficult and confusing to see just how obsessed Hashirama and Madara were to each other
@@rosesweetcharlotte atleast Hashirama was interested in fostering relationships. Madara sulked, plotted and planned after a SELF imposed exile. Hashirama was earnest and naive but he had the power to back his ideals.
Yeah, because I can imagine, that if Hashirama ignored Tobirama's advice, and pushed with Madara being Hokage, Madara's first order would be the death of Tobirama, both because of his grudge over Izuna, and also because he is concerned over Tobirama knowing how to pose a political threat. And I can't help but think about how Hashirama was willing to give Madara chance after chance, after betraying the village several times, but the moment Tobirama suggests killing Madara after the nteenth time he stabbed Konoha and Hashirama in the back, Hashirama threatens to kill Tobirama. I can't help but think, that if in such a position, that Madara as Hokage, ordering Tobirama to be executed, that Hashirama might just step aside and let it happen. Sure, the one time he offered himself, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't happen any other way... Plus, the clans loyal to the Senju such as the Nara and the Hyuga would have been wiped out, or chased out, in order to survive. People tend to blame Tobirama for causing all the problems... But I think that Hashirama naively let everything happen, because he wanted to believe in the good of people, which resulted in endless messes because of Madara's machinations, and then you had Tobirama, Hiruzen, Minato and Tsunade to play damage control, and wipe Hashirama's ass for that one, fatal mistake. Hashirama choosing Madara over Tobirama. That, is what caused all the problems.
I think Tobirama is the most underrated character in all of Naruto. He's a savage, he was a leader, he had the brains to charge other villages of the tailed beast. He was the brains who build the systems of the shinobi world, he did above and beyond for the world of Naruto.
@@international645 Yeah, they're absolute powerhouses. The only way the beach division could beat them was by taking them off guard and sealing them with their own tools that were stolen from the brothers.
I wish he had a sage mode like some ice power or since he was so good at water release maybe like a waterbender’s blood bending or something that he could only use ever certain amount of years
I wish there was a prequel about Tobirama Senju. We know barely anything about the Second Shinobi World War, The First Shinobi World War. Seeing Kagami, Hiruzen and Tobirama getting a lot if screentime would be lowkey dope.
It’s kind of sad when you think about it that Tobirama genuinely chose to die. Someone as smart as him probably kept or could keep reanimated corpses inside a scroll in preparation for anything. For him to choose not to do this or choose not to use it, says a lot about his staunch adherence to his own personal values
Most underrated character in Naruto, in seeing how his jutsu developed, by people not as smart its clear to see where his potential was heading, a true senju in the sense he mastered everything
Tobirama was always one of my favorite characters. I wanted to say THANK YOU! You actually covered his death right without acting like he was a weakling who got killed by nobodies. The gold and silver brothers especially when not in their nerfed edo state while accompanied by so many S rank jonin isn’t a baby level threat. Either way great video about a great character.
And tobirama was low on chakra coming back from a mission realistically he could have teleport his whole team away maybe he even just wanted to just get rid of threat of the gold and sliver brothers so he sacrificed his self
@@sipenarekbecha7193 he may have killed one of them as kakuzu says they only time he saw ginkaku go berserk was when his brother died. but even so Tobirama but real terror into them lol and showed them that their titles meant nothing to a man prepared to die for his beliefs
@@Crow-me6kt you do realize that was fabricated by Danzo. The uchiha formed the coup because they were tired of being treated like shit. Watch the series from the uchiha POV rather than konoha. Konoha had no proof of the uchiha being responsible for the nine tails attack either. They accused the uchiha on the basis of nothing. Tobirama also said itachi was a good shinobi, so he is apparently fine with genocide. Then again; what do I expect from the man who used human sacrifices and created the impure world reincarnation jutsu? That was never created by orochimaru. That was created by tobirama. How many did he sacrifice just to create such jutsu? Tobirama also killed izuna so he can fuck himself with his hypocrisy. He wasn’t intelligent. He was a racist asshole who caused more problems and even hashirama called him out for it
@@Crow-me6kt They weren't always that was a plot during Fugaku's time because of the way they were treated by the village and, not during Madara's and Kagami's ( the clan even ostracized Madara when he left them and that was still not enough for Tobirama). He enabled the treatment that Sarutobi later continued and now there are 3 uchihas in the world. Sure he was genious but his own bias made him of the worse kage's in terms of politics, arguably Hiruzen being the only worse one.
Always rated Tobirama as the best and most realest Hokage. Tsunade would be my second best Hokage. Thanks for the great explanation with logic and common sense that is missing in the anime and real world.
Tobirama was pretty cool.. I think people hating him because he didn’t like the uchiha for a good reason was a little much and uncalled for. Tobirama was honestly very underrated and happy to see a video of him uploaded
well he came over his part of hating the uchiha and danzo did not see that and that created the danzo we know, and if it wouldnt have been for danzo the village might not have been destroyed by pain as if he looked at his good side he wouldn't have killed the messanger toad. Now u can say that he did it cuz he wanted to become the hokage and that couldve come from his "friend" hiruzen and idol tobirama and it couldve so been jealousy but that does not mean that danzo should let the village get destroyed, don't get me wrong, i am saying that he was influenced by his so called friend and idol and jealousy and he looked at the darker side of things but he did not grasp looking at both the sides of a person or a thing. And he just had this goal that he had to achieve, even if he meant dethroning the one who was chosen by the jonin council and the village elders and he did that logically when the 5 kage meeting was to happen where he could be chosen the hokage "illegally" (tho its kinda legal) by the other 4 kage. Kishimoto couldve sent naruto for the 5 kage meeting as he was stronger than kakashi and many other jonin if he used sage mode
It's because a good chunk of the fambase is uchiha fanboys or never really understood his character and only know about his ideals at surface level. This man was right about the uchiha yet he's called a racist for not kissing their asses like Hashirama did
Yeah, and also I'd like to say people sometimes forget that there was a long war between Senju and Uchiha. They were enemies. And you know, it's an easy thing to start seeing your ex enemy as a friend or something. I feel like that's all because a lot people just can't understand what is war: people don't live during war (what is a good thing) and they just can't fully understand the people who live(d).
I’ve always liked Tobirama. He was a product of his generation (even then it wasn’t hard to see where he was coming). Not to mention he was an ultra powerful badass who made almost all of the best jutsus in the show.
I think he was an amazing Hokage and a great leader. I love him. He was probably the only person who understood Uchiha better than anyone, even Hashirama. Many people blame him for killing Izuna which was the beginning of Madara's madness but I think he was not responsible for Madara's choices. They were at war and not killing Izuna might have cost him his own life. The fact that Madara was not able to cope with his grief was not his problem or concern they were enemies forcibly turned to allies who tried to give a chance to the peace everyone wanted and he as a shinobi and later Hokage did his best for keeping that peace and the village they had created through blood, sweat and tears. People blame him for telling Hashirama to not appoint him as the first Hokage and that was another reason for Madara to fall for madness but it was not like Madara was fine all along and everything was okay with him and only because Tobirama voiced his distress about him, which by the way, has always been known, even Uchiha didn't trust Madara any more. Tobirama's point of view was normal and understandable because in the whole Senju clan probably only Hashirama saw Madara as a friend, he was not an approachable person in general, especially next to always sunny and cheerful Hashirama. I can not blame Tobirama for being weary of him, you just don't magically trust your former enemy, maybe he really saw where Uchihas power lay and that Madara was falling apart after his brother's loss before anyone. Even if that was not the case, one person can oppose and don't like another one and it's not like he hated all Uchiha or treated every one of them with hatred. He worked with them he gave them power in the village making them responsible for the village's inner peace, it's not his fault that Uchihas are not good with handling power or tend to be explosive. Then there was the fact of Curse of hatred among the Uchiha and Tobirama was ironicly the one who later explained it to Sasuke, which means he had already new about it when he was alive and that is a grave reason for a sensible person to be wary of them. Besides, many Uchihas were power hungry take for example Izanami and Izanagi, even the fact that their visual power was directly connected to their emotions was true. To conclude, Tobirama's suspicion and distrust towards Uchihas was logical and understandable, it was not a baseless hate. He was a practical person, a scientist, that was why he worked with clever and faithful Uchihas as well. If he was a bigot he would have done all in his power to destroy the Uchihas, especially when he was the Hokage, but he gave them chance, he had been at war with them since his childhood, it's easy said than done, to build a home with your yesterday's enemy and to trust them not to kill you in your sleep living next door, yet he gave them power even after Hashirama's death and Madara's betrayal, he could have used Madara as yet another reason to restrict the Uchihas but he did not. He didn't see them as a threat for the village. The fandom simply is too enamoured with the Uchihas, probably because they were mercilessly killed in a night leaving only the young Sasuke with his pain to constantly remind them about the tragic, to logically see their flaws of the clan and whoever says anything even logically true about them people immediately call him hater, racist etc, etc.
Beautifully said (or written? Idk 😁) But may i add just 1 thing? Imo Madara were never had any real chance to be the Hokage whatsoever, i don't know why some fans thinking that "Tobirama sabotage Madara becoming The Hokage"??? Konoha was founded by an agreement between the Fire country and a shinobi alliance led by Hashirama (consist of Senjus, Uchihas, Sarutobis, Akimichis, Naras etc) so the leadership position obviously decided by a committee from the fire country and Konoha representatives exactly Like Tobirama said If anything appointing Madara as the Hokage was nothing more than Hashirama's impulsive personal decision and that would've been a catastrophic error because if we look at Oonoki the 3rd Tsuchikage's flashback Madara acted on his own defying Konoha's decision to offer peace to the Iwagakure and instead he wanted to conquer them by force (i suspected that was one of the catalyst of the 1st ninja world war)
Not only that, he also admitted that during his time as hokage he tried to be in the middle between Hashirama's and Madara's way of thinking. Like... he even saw good in the one Uchiha he probably hated the most.
Tobirama became an unexpected favorite of mine on my second rewatch of the anime. I love that he's not clear cut good or evil. He's not clear cut cold and calculating either even though those traits are are the forefront. There's plenty of emotion there even though he's trained not to let them rule him. There is something very endearing about the way he's both proud and irritated when he sees the jutsus he created being used by future generations, especially when he's not given credit. Him smilingly calling Hiruzen "Saru" also gives a hint of a warmer side to that grim personality. He's a super impressive, mega powerful and very serious genius for sure but sometimes he slips and loses his cool and that contrast makes him a great character to me. He's so very clearly a younger brother who took on the role of the responsible one because Hashimara was the way Hashirama was... (as an older sibling raised by a disapproving younger sibling I recognize the type) Awesome video, I learned some new things so thanks for that!
Him being very internet popular in Japan, being fascinated as “the guy who hyped up the arc every time he’s on the screen(panel)” (and other nicknames) with his remarkable intelligence (analyzing Obito’s power 2 seconds after Obito telling them of his new “unfathomable” power), jutsu creating skills (and him claiming his copyright XD), his sarcastic remarks against the sixth path sage, and his tsukkomi skills against Naruto and Minato, imagine my surprise when I find out that he is legitimately hated over in comment sections and forums. The whole “damn uchihas” jokes and him rising from the dead to stop an Uchiha from being Hokage, although finding it not very funny from the start (except the photoshop images of him getting out of his coffin XD), I can’t even smile to them because I don’t know if they genuinely mean it and think he’s a racist. ( or clanist??) So what I mean by these elongated never-ending sentences is that I really appreciate you taking your time to clear things up and make an analysis on him! Thank you and awesome video!!!
And people thinking of him as the stern narcissist that doesn’t have emotions, while he compliments the hell out of Naruto and Minato (also sounding genuinely happy about it) and sacrifices himself for his disciples, drives me insane. This man really loves the village and the later generations.
@@cngotham4111 Not only that, but they are literally not a race. He just fought them at war, lost family members against them, and became allies but there was a degree of distrust. That is normal.
I personally think Tobirama created Edo tensei for Madara. To me it makes sense. Madara knows everything about the jutsu after being revived and I would guess Tobirama wanted him and Madara to be on good terms so he shows it to Madara to revive Madara’s brother. But Madara hates the idea of it and dismisses Tobirama’s gesture
@@Grivian damn that's a different look at it wow I guess u def right there lol bc u use izanagi on me and I die well I'll just get reanimated come back and whoop ya lol 😂😂😂😂
Tobirama is my favorite hokage, he's rational, extremely smart, sharp and calm in fight, his love for the village knows no limits, only Itachi can compete with it maybe. he invented some of the greatest Justus that appeared in the series, his extra caution from the Uchihas is understandable considering the fact all of them imposed a threat on the village at some point(with the exception of Itachi,Kagami and Shisui), with the the fact he actually took the time to educate himself and studying the sharingan, he's the most awesome contra to his brother and yet they are such a beautiful and heartwarming duo. AND he's HOT AS HECK . The only thingthat I think that's lacking is him and Minato being father and son, they work so well together and he complimented Minato and Naruto few times. I think it could be a nice closure with Naruto fixing his grandpa's "mistakes" (I don't consider them mistakes) Imma Tobirama fangirl for life
Shikamaru:I'm one the smartest ninja around Tobirama: *my brother in christ, I brought people back to life, discovered a pocket dimension, and cloned myself*
Some people still try to claim Minato and Orochimaru are more intelligent than Tobirama, simply because they improved apon his jutsu. They don't understand its alot it's a lot harder to create a Jutsu from nothing, then it is to modify an already existing jutsu. Tobirama created the foundation, that they simply built upon. Tobirama further displayed his Superior intelligence over Minato in the Obito fight. Tobirama was constantly thinking of strategy while Minato did f*** all. 1. Tobirama came up with the plan to mix ftg to increase its speed. 2. He was able to deduce that Obito was using a mix of shadow and light style. 3. He was the first to notice Minatos arm wasn't coming back (which Minato should've realized it before Tobirama considering it was his own f****** arm) 4.He also noticed that sage jutsu was effective, before Minato did (despite Minato being a sage)
Minato is overrated. Not because he perfected FTG Means that he is stronger than Tobirama. Orochimaru's even admits that he admiree Tobirama. Tobirama's battle iq is beyond Minato. Minato looks like a lost child during the war.
Never hated him personally I thought he was one of the more relatable characters. Reminds me a lot of shinobu from demon slayer. Even tho she hates demons with her entire heart (like tobiroma hating uchiha) she still tries her best to not hate them and help nezuko because of her sisters wish. Tobiroma does the same thing even tho he hates the uchiha (which if your in war time and tons of your own family die I would hate them too) I just find tobiroma one of the most relatable characters
Here's where you're wrong, he doesn't hate the Uchiha, he hated Madara Uchiha. He wanted peace, and it could be argued he wanted it more than hashirama but wasn't a naive moron like hashirama
Tobirama never exclusively hated the Uchiha what so ever. That is entirely a dead running joke in the Naruto fandom. Tobirama specifically hated the curse of the Uchiha.
Let me just say, I have a lot of life interests. I’m a musician, gym rat, and college professor to name a few. And you my friend are one of the best speakers I’ve come across anywhere in life. It doesn’t shock me that your channel blew up rather quickly and I wish you nothing but further success in any endeavor you may venture into. I’m sure you will be successful in anything you do.
Favorite Hokage. Always thought he was the most interesting individual to hold the title, and from a governing perspective he was probably the best Hokage. Or at least one of. As you said, Hashirama founded the village, but Tobirama built it.
I like Tobirama because he feels like a real historical figure. We can all remember looking up to the founding fathers as kids and the growing up to discover that those people weren't the best role models.
@@adrianmacklin418he said tobirama is like real historical figures like real role model.. normally who r shown to us as role model are actually aren't role model
@@tingle2323 Yeah, still doesnt answer the question... how was Tobirama not a good role model? He ws a great leader, cared about his village and actually was against keeping "bloodlines" pure and he was completely right about Madara. He worked hard, was stoic but had a lot of compassion and sacrificed himself in the end to save his subordinate and the future of the village.
Tobirama is my favorite Kage and favorite Naruto character. I am very glad to see someone give him the proper respect and understanding that he deserves. I always felt he was underrated and misunderstood by many. Thank you NC Hammer for this video!
Watching this series, I was prepared to hate Tobirama because of how people portrayed him in the internet. But then he was reanimated and every second he was on screen I loved him, dude did not belittle and actually respects Naruto, probably the best supporter during the war, one of the best hokages for the hidden leaf, made so many jutsus that he was bound to make some broken ones that needed to be banned, hella intelligent, and also immaculate drip. Do I think he's perfect? nah, he probably could have done a bit more to prevent the Uchiha's hatred, but considering he's harboring the generation he's fought against almost his entire youth, he's done a pretty good job actually. Heck, It was Hiruzen's reign that drove the Uchihas into the corner when he relocated them to the outskirts of Konoha after not letting them defend the leaf from Kurama, that was not Tobirama, so no Tobirama is not responsible for the Uchiha massacre nor their cycle of hatred. Funny how he's portrayed as the racist when all he did was try to find the best outcomes for the situations he had at the time, and he was also friends and acquainted with a lot of Uchihas. It was everyone else(mostly Madara) that broke the shit that Tobirama tried to build.
I blame American memes for that. It's the same as people taking seriously the "Piccolo is black" meme in Dragon Ball when he is literally green. But again, Americans think Argentina is part of Mexico and that Spain is in Latin America.
THANK YOU HAMMER. Ive always wanted to know more about tobirama senju since we dont see much of his abilities besides water style. Im grateful you made this!

When Shisui said that he's not near Kagami's calibre, I think he was talking about him as a person not necessarily power-wise. Hiruzen also stated that Shisui reminds him of Kagami after Shisui showed a particular personality that reminded him of Kagami.
I think that it's also worth mentioning that when Tobirama was going to kill Madera, he was also fufilling his part in the honorable way to the end of a shinobi. It's not crazy to think that looking how he was raised under his father's ideals and his father said himself that a shinobi dying on the battlefield is an honorable death.
I do think every time that the village needed both Hashirama & Tobirama. Tobirama had the skill to build a village and Hashirama had the inspiration to bring everyone together and make them believe in the dream, you need both
Finaly someone who sheds some light on my man Tobirama. Hes for a long time been one of my fav naruto characters and I really dont like how some of the community represent him and boil his whole life and personality into this Uchiha hating racist. Thanks Nick
I really enjoy how you break down these characters and situations it really gives you a different perspective when you get vids that are actually well informed and unbiased
Even before this video I thought he was the best hokage because he was the only hokage who was able to handle the light and dark of the Leaf single-handedly. Everyone else had someone to handle the dark. For Hashirama it was Tobirama. For the 3rd, 4th and 5th it was Danzo.
I’m fairly sure that Madara told Hashirama to either kill Tobirama or himself. Hashirama chose to die. Tobirama is, without a doubt, the best of the Founders. The smartest, the most creative, and the best suited for the position of Hokage. I’m always happy to see people acknowledge that he didn’t just hate the Uchiha blindly. He respected them as an enemy but was wary of how they handled their emotions. Really glad to see his accomplishments being brought up. The academy, the Anbu, the chunin exams, and the police force. Especially the police force. The Uchiha were perfect for the police. The only reason it backfired is because he had such a bad reputation with the Uchiha and made it a clan exclusive group. He could have made it something for the Uchiha to establish for a specific time and them had them open it up to others like the Inuzuka and Aburame clans. Missed opportunity there. I’m not really happy with him choosing Hirizen for Hokage though. Or more like, I was dissatisfied with how quick he chose. I would NOT trust the kid that puts his friends above himself that young. Self-sacrifice is not nearly as noble as people seem to think. It’s martyrdom at best and underestimation of your own self worth at worst. Tobirama should have flat out said he would be the decoy and watched his students reactions. The one with the best argument on why he shouldn’t be the decoy and that it should be them should have been chosen. Or the one with the was most understanding of why he Should be the decoy and why no one else could do the job. Tobirama was the most qualified, the one with the best chance of actually surviving, and the one with the least at stake. He has no known kids, no known wife, and he is the oldest of the group. Logic says he’s the best decoy. So someone would have to show they are thinking ahead to prove to him that they can be trusted with the village. His legacy. Thinking on what would be best for the village should have been the how he chose his successor, instead he got sentimental at the end and chose a much less charismatic or optimistic Hashirama. Hiruzen dropped the fucking ball and bungled a lot up. Not to say he didn’t do great things for the village or that he was necessarily a bad Hokage. He was just the Worst of them. Like, the worst at the job itself. He would have been much better as an elder on the council. Most of his mess ups were because he valued his team mates opinions to the point of stupidity. Valued them enough that he chose them to be his council. You never work with your friends like this, especially when your supposed to be in a higher position than them. Your friendship suffers and as shown, they don’t always respect you. We don’t know enough about Kagami and Torifu to know if either of them would have been any better. We know for sure that the other 4 weren’t. That’s what I consider as Tobirama’s one solid mistake as Hokage.
another reasons for Hiruzen to be chosen is because he was trained by Tobirama and Hashirama since he was a Kid, and besides that Hiruzen Father's was a Legendary Shinobi, and The Sarutobi Clan were respected by all the other Clans.
@@RNvideosedits I will concede those points. Family legacy can always be counted on in the Naruto world to give you an edge. I will retract one of my prior statements though since I thought about it more. We do know more about Kagami than I remembered. And Danzo wasn’t necessarily the worst choice of the 6. We know nothing of about Torifu and both Koharu Utatane and Homura Hitokato are shown to be easy for Danzo to manipulate to his side. Out of Tobirama’s 3 students, Hiruzen is the strongest, with the most prolific reputation even during the 2nd war. But we have seen that others that aren’t students of a Hokage have been considered for the position in Dan, and Fugaku. Danzo, Torifu, and Kagami all spent time with Tobirama as a team during the war, and were the same age group as team Tobirama. It stands to reason he was a bit of a mentor to them as well. Otherwise I don’t think Danzo would consider himself on equal footing (or better) to Hiruzen. That means he saw those three under enough high stress situations to make out their characters and their abilities as shinobi. He probably trained with them to be a cohesive team in the field. They were viable candidates for the Hat too. My problem is with How he chose. The decoy idea was Kagami’s ( I do think Koharu had the right idea though, unless the team was really on their last leg I’m fairly sure they could have taken out the Ginkaku Force, even if a few of them would have either died of been forcibly “retired”) Tobirama decided to make it a test to see who would sacrifice themselves so the team could get away and chose Hiruzen because he volunteered. While I can see his reasoning, I wouldn’t consider this a good thing. Being Hokage has a huge political impact on the status of your clan. The Senju and Uchiha were the founding clans, the Sarutobi were already the 1st clan to join them, and the Akamichi was a Noble clan. The Shimura were not very prominent and I’m pretty sure the Mitokato and Utatane families were civilian. The best Political Move would have been to chose either one of the students from a civilian family, Danzo, or Kagami. While I don’t think Homura or Koharu would have ever been Viable, Danzo and Kagami were. For Danzo we know he wanted power and was jealous of Hiruzen for being such a good Shinobi. To curb Danzo’s more fanatical patriotism being Hokage means being watched by the council and the Village at large. He would have most likely had Hiruzen on the council purely to rub it in his face that he got the Hat and Hiruzen wouldn’t have cared because he would have been happy for Danzo as his friend. The things he did would have been more public too. Would have had to go through the elder council and the Shinobi council. I think if he had gotten a bit of what he wanted earlier in life he would have slowed down too. His life could have taken a very different turn. He would no longer be living in Hiruzens shadow and would have to be jealous because he was finally acknowledged. He could have maby even settled down with a wife and kids at some point. HE might have taken on Jiraiya, Orochimaru and Taunade and taught them with Hiruzen the same way Hiruzen was taught by Hashirama and Tobirama. I feel like A younger Danzo could have been pretty good. He’d bee morally warped by war the same as the others on the Escort team but I think he also wouldn’t have fallen so far if he had had more of the actual responsibilities of Hokage. If he had to be the Face of the village. I also think Danzo wouldn’t have been half as bad if someone besides Hiruzen was chosen. Even if it wasn’t him. While he did envy the Uchiha years later, I don’t think it was as bad when he was on a team with Kagami. As for Kagami, we see after Orochimaru revived The dead Hokage, that Tobirama considered Kagami one of the few Uchiha that would always have the village’s best interests at heart and compares him to what Sasuke said about Itachi. Hiruzen compares Shisui to Kagami as well, citing it as a good thing. With the war going on, and Tobirama’s uncalled for reputation as a hater of Uchiha after his death. We can safely say he had to have had some of that reputation before his death as well. His best political move would have been to chose Kagami. Showing the rest of the village, that as a founder, he had faith in at least 1 Uchiha. And showing the Uchiha, that while he was wary, he did see them as part of the village. While it would have clashed with the Uchiha heading the police force, Kagami was not a member of the main family and so never in the running for chief. Kagami could have also most likely had the police force opened up to other clans in order to eliminate any criticism regarding the Uchiha “taking over the village”. He wouldn’t have let Danzo get away with probably half the things Hiruzen forgave him for either. If he was anything like Shisui, his probable grandson who tried to stop a coup, we can safely say he wouldn’t have just stood by while Danzo worked behind his back. Though, like I said, I don’t think Danzo would have been half as bad if Kagami got the hat instead of Hiruzen. A lot of the things he did were motivated by his jealousy and want for power. He might have still been power hungry, but he also feared and revered the Sharingan. Konohagakure would have been a very different village in either case, the whole landscape of the Shinobi world could have been different if Tobirama had chosen someone besides Hiruzen. But Tobirama made his final decision by choosing someone too much like himself and Hashiram combined in the most ill fitted ways. He knew he could have died in the war. He could have been preparing all 6 of them and had his choice ready before ever even stepping onto the battlefield. He should have been ready because Hashirama, the greatest Shinobi of his generation, died at the start and wasn’t ready. Hashirama got Lucky that Tobirama was probably already a Hokage candidate. Already endeard to the village for his help as a founder and position as second strongest in his clan. For a man so smart, he made his decision without thinking ahead. Made it on sentimentality, but that’s no surprise. Tobirama is a lot more emotionally driven than most fans tend to think, but he was also a Thinker, and this decision was made more with his heart than his head. This is one of those things I don’t think Kishimoto did very well. Hiruzen wasn’t a bad Hokage. He did amazing things for the village during the wars. He was just the worst out of any that have taken the Hat. Mostly because he put it back on after Minato’s death. Out of all the powerful shinobi from Minato’s generation, I’m supposed to believe that there was NO ONE else that could step up? There was No back up? When Minato had such a huge target on his head? The war was only over for a few years after Hiruzen stepped down and Minato stepped up. If Hiruzen hadn’t let Danzo run amok, I’m fairly sure the Uchiha would have been in better standing in the village, would have been a part of the evacuation effort and fought Kurama. If Minato still died with Uchiha backup, Fugaku would have been the most likely candidate. There would have been no rumors about the Uchiha. He would have had to step down as chief of police. Might have even opened the police for for the same reason I said Kagami would have. I would have considered Hiruzen better if he had never tried to come out of retirement.
@@RNvideosedits would you be comfortable with me posting this reply chain to my Naruto Tumblr? I’ll link the video itself and also make sure people know what screen name I’m using so they can see the original as well.
This video does such a good job showing how awesome Tobirama was. I’m always annoyed with how much hate he gets, and now I can bring up this video whenever I find myself defending him. Good stuff!
Dude, you're so damn talented. I thank you so much for this content. I didn't think this would happen, but I think you just made Tobi my favorite character. I thought he was basically, uh you know the meme, racist against Uchiha. But also, I didn't realize I previously underestimated how smart he was. He was the first Kage of peace, if you will, that had to deal with many of the decisions Hashirana may not have been equipped to deal with. I never really thought of him like that. Fascinating stuff man. Please keep up the great work!
Tobirama isn't racist. He doesn't like any clans that would try to harm / oppose his clan and the Uchiha's just so happened to be a clan that fought his. The Uchiha also killed 2 of his brothers.
To be fair the Hyuuga would also make awesome police. They can see concealed items better than anyone, and their taijutsu is designed to nonlethally shut down a ninjas chakra network, and they are very effective trackers. Their defense isnt lacking either.
This video is really well done! Tobirama was my favorite hokage and now even more so after learning more in depth of his character and contributions to Konoha!! Im glad I found your youtube channel 😁
Already know I'm gonna love this since Tobirama is probably one if not my favorite Naruto character. And i commented this twice already but i would absolutely love a video about the Root/Foundation. And it seems that im not the only one.
This is why I love these kinds of videos. They go into deep discussions of characters you usually take at face value and can turn them into one of your most favorites in the series that they’re in. In short, damn fine work my man. 👍🏻
Please do Jugo his power is sooooo underrated when you dig deep he's low key OP also his the only one in the Naruto universe that wasn't able to actually train and develop his skills let be real 🤷🏿♂️
He is THE best water user of them all, he literally can create oceans. It is sad that at the end "ninjutsu is not effective" became a thing 😬 it would be so cool to watch him in anime being like in the Ultimate Ninja Games.
The hate that Tobirama gets is a classic example of how toxic the Naruto fanbase is. Because so much of Shippuden has been revolved around power housing and hyping the Uchiha, the fanbase starts loyally aligning themselves on riding them and the bandwagon so people who are shown to have an antipathy against Uchiha characters like Tobirama gets irrational hate, and that moniker is forever attached to their legacy. For example, People hate Tobirama for "hating the Uchiha", even though he had multiple good reasons to like idk, both of his brothers being murdered by them, but LOVE Madara, who openly hated the Senju and solely wanted to kill Tsunade because she was a Senju. This is the double standard we see throughout the fanbase and unfortunately, when people hate a character, they tend to downplay and undermine both their feats and their strength, like Tobirama, Sakura, Danzo etc. Tobirama is still one of the strongest Kage to exist, easily in top 5, and characters in general.
I agree with anyone that states the fanbase is toxic. It's just a fact. The hate for Boruto is incredible and I'm sure most of the people that hate on it haven't watched it since the first Arc or two. I always wonder why the fanbase is that way. I'd love to see someone make a video about it
Tobirama is the most underrated character in the show. Of all the shinobi in his generation, he was the one who impacted the shinobi world the most, even more than Hashirama or Madara. His idea of the Anbu and shinobi academy was copied by other villages. His justu that he created, for better or worse, had the most impact in the shinobi world. The flying thunder god justu resulted with Konoha's Yellow Flash. The shadow clone justu resulted with the savior of the world, Naruto. The edo tensei resulted with the military force that Shinobi Alliance fought against in the Great 4th Shinobi War. And the shinobi that started and ended that war were that of the lineage of teacher student of Tobirama.
I actually think that Tobirama is best hokage. He views shinobi system realistically and awknowladges its flaws, but still tries to improve on them. He also doesnt hate Uchihas, he just knows better than anyone else that their short temper and powers could lead to disasters(and he is right, Madara and Obito did irreversible damage to konoha in future, so Tobiramas fears were proven right)
Tobirama is a total favorite. Smart, powerful, fast, and generally awesome. He also has a super great design. I totally love this character. His voice too!!!!!!!!!!! It is a shame we have not seen active on the screen in war enough
He is the best all around Hokage hands down His strength only inferior to Hashirama and Madara His intellect helped bring Hashirama's vision to reality like Ninja academy, 4 man Genin unit, Chuunin exam, Police force, Gokage meeting, The distribution of power among 5 great villages etc His Jutsu are still being used and developed all the way to Naruto's era which is Edo Tensei, Kagebunshin and Hiraijin, those are the signature Jutsu of 2 Hokages and 1 Sannin (2 Sannin if you includes Kabuto) And the best thing to me is that He was the only Hokage to ever tried fixing the Uchiha problems which means that he tried to give The Uchihas sense of belonging and bond to Konoha by appointed them as the military police force
Tobirama is my fav Hokage both look wise and ability wise. I find it funny that the main jutsu that Minato and Naruto use were created by him. His worst mistake was clearly making the reanimation, which i couldnt even begin to fathom where to start on those experiments.
Some of the worst mistakes saved the day. The reanimation jutsu caused the war but also allowed the Hokages to come back. 3rd could have killed Orochimaru but who would have brought the Hokages back? Putting the 9 tails into Naruto cost him a comfortable upbringing but it gave him everything he needed to become the Hokage in the end.
Tobirama is my favourite hokage he is the legendary creator he is well disciplined he’s an analyst he’s collective sure what happened with the uchuia was bad but he always had the village best interest at heart
I love that you break these down, it’s one of my favorite anime! However I run a full time business and i am part time performer so hard to keep up 😂 thanks bro!!! Keep it up
This is exactly why i love Tobirama, he is a good example of a great leader and his bad made up image and his true story serves as a good example of the word "if you rush to conclusions then you will lead to conclusions". My favorite hokage is actually Minato but at the same I love Tobirama as crazy hell in term of who my favorite hokage should be bcuz that guy is an excellent genius with the power level of a monster but the heart of a true great leader. BTW my favorite character is Naruto but none of the hokage can do half d greatness to the village that Tobirama did during his lifetime and all that Uchiha hating guy was just pure shit to me.
People dismiss Tobirama because of how things with the Uchiha turned out... But I'd say that it's more Madara's fault. Madara has shown that he is powerful and unstable. He is also vindictive and petty. Had Hashirama handed Madara the title of Hokage, Madara's first order is likely to be the death of Tobirama. And I wonder if Hashirama would just step aside. The fact that he was willing to give Madara chance after chance, even when Madara Uchiha betrayed the village, but when his younger brother, Tobirama advised him to strike down the Uchiha head, Hashirama threatened to kill his own brother. That's an important detail that many forget. That's a mistake that haunts Konoha, and Tobirama, the Second Hokage needed to prepare for that. Madara would have also become a warhawk of Konoha, and wished for expansion, and to use the Tailed Beasts as WMDs. He would have also pushed the Senju aside, and when Hashirama dies, Madara is likely to wipe out the Senju, initiating a civil war, causing the various clans to take sides. The Hyuga and the Nara would side with the Senju, but who knows where the others will side. Cause if there's one thing about Madara, is that he is good at manipulating people. And Tobirama knew this. Consider how Madara broke Obito, who was all heart, and more pro-Konoha, than pro-Uchiha, and loved Minato and Kushina as if they were his own parents, turned on them in an insane way, manipulating every incident... And that this isn't an isolated case. He is very capable and willing to manipulate the Uchiha to get his own way. And with the control he has over the Tailed Beasts... Tobirama set up the election to vote in his brother, causing Madara to sulk and ditch. After he became the second, he set up the Konoha police force, and put the Uchiha in charge of it. This was done for various reasons, but the Uchiha didn't realise the power they had over the people. They could have been the kindly benevolent police force, ingratiating themselves with the people, with a velvet glove, then slander the Hokage, and following that, pull a coup, with various clans... Instead, they weren't bright enough to realise they could have done that. Yeah, Tobirama kicked the can down the road, but it was bound to happen. Madara would see to that. And studying how the Sharingan works, he knew the unstability of the mental state of the Uchiha. The Hyuga learned self-discipline, but the Uchiha never truly put behind their ambition to overthrow the leaf. Then, selling the Tailed Beasts did several things. First, it helped fill the coffers. Next, by keeping the Nine Tails, it guaranteed that he had the biggest weapon. Next, in the event that Madara were to try to take over, he wouldn't have all of the Beasts in one place. Not that it stopped him. He violated the Fourth Mizukage's mind, and mind controlled him for years, before killing him. As much as Orochimaru (Whom is a Nazi mad scientist style lunatic, who does perform human experimentations that would make the SS squeamish.) and Hashirama criticise him, Tobirama made the correct calls. There's a reason why he wasn't surprised, and was actually calling his brother out on being to soft and naive. People say that Tobirama caused many problems with his policies... But in truth, it was Hashirama that caused all those problems, even if he didn't mean to. He was so focused on peaceful resolution, and thinking everyone could get together and hug it out... That he didn't consider what would happen if they said no. And sadly, that left Tobirama and Hiruzen to clean up after him, but making the hard calls that needed to be called; hard choices that Hashirama didn't wish to do. It also caused suffering for Minato, with the Nine Tails attack. Hashirama... The example of no good deed goes unpunished... And for his kindness, Konoha had to suffer Madara's megalomania... Tobirama had 3 choices... Allow Madara to rule Konoha, and die because of a grudge... Let the Uchiha on the council and give them political power, allowing Madara to manipulate everything, creating a deep state to rule against the rest, slowing pushing out the Senju, and the clans loyal to them... Or remove them from direct power to ensure that they can't pull any stunts. Had Hashirama allowed his brother to kill Madara, Tobirama probably wouldn't have felt it necessary to alienate the Uchiha.

Its kinda a Senju x Sarutobi drip

I think Tobirama is the strongest "No hax" shinobi, no sagemode, no jinchuriki, no "eyes power". He pushed the series basic combat system to its absolute maximum. Godtier intelligence. Pragmatic in its politics, and incredible proficient in all jutsus. He is up there with hashirama and Madara with no overpowered "hacks"
He laid the groundwork for much of the series, either through his politics or his jutsu creations. My favorite kage, and one of the coolest characters in the series for sure!
Best comment up in here 👍👍👍
He's basically Shikamaru if Shikamaru wasnt lazy and had the talent to use more than one technique style
It would be easy for him to create a new sage mode.
I think Minato is just a straight up better Shinobi though. Like Tobirama 2.0. He's a battle genius too, pragmatic and proficient. He mastered Tobirama's jutsu and made them better, along with his sealing techniques and rasengan.
@@Emot10nsminato couldn’t control every chakra element though, while Tobirama could. one thing you didn't mention that i really think is central to tobirama's feelings about madara is hashirama nearly killing himself, just because madara asked. he's tobirama's last brother, and he clearly admires and respects him even through calling him an idiot. seeing the control madara had over hashirama must have been terrifying, and i really can't blame tobirama for his distrust
I never thought about this before, must be linked to the whole Indra/Ashura reincarnation plot line
@@Keiji555 wow, I wasn't able to encapsulate my feelings on Hashirama & Tobirama's relationship myself, but your comment really sums things up.

Uchiha were meant to be hated
True, he did have a good reason too hate them, but he did not hate all of them.
Thats what I think.
True, he is one of the best person in NARUTO

Beautifully said (or written? Idk 😁)
But may i add just 1 thing? Imo Madara were never had any real chance to be the Hokage whatsoever, i don't know why some fans thinking that "Tobirama sabotage Madara becoming The Hokage"???
Konoha was founded by an agreement between the Fire country and a shinobi alliance led by Hashirama (consist of Senjus, Uchihas, Sarutobis, Akimichis, Naras etc) so the leadership position obviously decided by a committee from the fire country and Konoha representatives exactly Like Tobirama said
If anything appointing Madara as the Hokage was nothing more than Hashirama's impulsive personal decision and that would've been a catastrophic error because if we look at Oonoki the 3rd Tsuchikage's flashback Madara acted on his own defying Konoha's decision to offer peace to the Iwagakure and instead he wanted to conquer them by force (i suspected that was one of the catalyst of the 1st ninja world war)
He's one of Kishimoto's best characters by far.
( or clanist??)
So what I mean by these elongated never-ending sentences is that I really appreciate you taking your time to clear things up and make an analysis on him!
He made it into the top 15 or 17 in the Naruto99 popularity poll so I wouldn’t be surprised 😭😭
Oh he is popular in Japan. That's good to know people there are good at watching animes
Yea I like the jokes but if people think he's literally racist then man they missed alot.
Hmmmm that’s interesting
Damn that would make sense
The one question I had after watching this video, swiftly answered in moments. Bravo.
I'd think he would be terrified of madara using it to revive more Uchiha and bolster his numbers for more war.
Or he wanted to revive his own 3 dead brothers, like hashirama, or most likely he wanted to revive strong enemies for konoha
He created flying raijin to counter sharingan and mastered water release to counter Uchicha's fire release. Tobirama is the most racist ninja 😂

I think it could be a nice closure with Naruto fixing his grandpa's "mistakes" (I don't consider them mistakes)
Imma Tobirama fangirl for life
Shikamaru:I'm one the smartest ninja around
Tobirama: *my brother in christ, I brought people back to life, discovered a pocket dimension, and cloned myself*
3. He was the first to notice Minatos arm wasn't coming back (which Minato should've realized it before Tobirama considering it was his own f****** arm)
4.He also noticed that sage jutsu was effective, before Minato did
(despite Minato being a sage)
Minato is overrated. Not because he perfected FTG Means that he is stronger than Tobirama. Orochimaru's even admits that he admiree Tobirama.
Tobirama's battle iq is beyond Minato. Minato looks like a lost child during the war.
@@kylemma33Frrr vreating something is harder than improving it ! Even Minato tells ir to Jiraiya after creating the rasengan
Tobirama is an example of good writing. He is a man that birthed because of the times he lived.
But the thing is, he doesn't hate them
Here's where you're wrong, he doesn't hate the Uchiha, he hated Madara Uchiha. He wanted peace, and it could be argued he wanted it more than hashirama but wasn't a naive moron like hashirama
he hates the mangekyo sharingan
he's just a very cautious person. Cautious and not paranoid.
Tobirama never exclusively hated the Uchiha what so ever. That is entirely a dead running joke in the Naruto fandom. Tobirama specifically hated the curse of the Uchiha.

Tobirama had the skill to build a village and Hashirama had the inspiration to bring everyone together and make them believe in the dream, you need both
Yes finally a person who doesn’t just simplify characters, I always thought Tobirama was misunderstood.
Finaly someone who sheds some light on my man Tobirama. Hes for a long time been one of my fav naruto characters and I really dont like how some of the community represent him and boil his whole life and personality into this Uchiha hating racist. Thanks Nick
I really enjoy how you break down these characters and situations it really gives you a different perspective when you get vids that are actually well informed and unbiased
i liked Tobirama already, after having watched this video... he might actually be my favorite hokage in the history of naruto
Even before this video I thought he was the best hokage because he was the only hokage who was able to handle the light and dark of the Leaf single-handedly. Everyone else had someone to handle the dark. For Hashirama it was Tobirama. For the 3rd, 4th and 5th it was Danzo.
He was 3rd of my top aside from Naruto hokages lol

It also shows that the fanbase dont play attention to larger picture in the show
I agree with anyone that states the fanbase is toxic.

I wish we we would get mini series on these characters 😭
Damn I always liked him but I didn't know it went that deep
Dude this guy is one of my favorite characters. I didn't even know there was hate out there - shows how blinded by awesome I was.
Thank you! Finally some love for one of my favourite characters and finally someone who understands him.
He is the best all around Hokage hands down
His strength only inferior to Hashirama and Madara
His intellect helped bring Hashirama's vision to reality like Ninja academy, 4 man Genin unit, Chuunin exam, Police force, Gokage meeting, The distribution of power among 5 great villages etc
His Jutsu are still being used and developed all the way to Naruto's era which is Edo Tensei, Kagebunshin and Hiraijin, those are the signature Jutsu of 2 Hokages and 1 Sannin (2 Sannin if you includes Kabuto)
And the best thing to me is that He was the only Hokage to ever tried fixing the Uchiha problems which means that he tried to give The Uchihas sense of belonging and bond to Konoha by appointed them as the military police force
He’s always been my favorite hokage, I feel like he’s really slept on
I love you for making all this content so often
Boutta listen to this at work rn to pass the time 🙏💆♂️ thank you
I loved the way the animators made him look like such a badass. He always talked so deeply and stoeich.
*stoic
Keep it up
He wanted to make Konoha great again
This might be the most persuasive video of an anime character I have ever watched. No hyperbole here, this is a masterpiece.
The older you get the more you realise Tobirama was exactly what the Leaf needed as a leader
These videos make my day, this guy is amazing
This video is amazing and complete destroys the narrative with pure logic and facts. Much respect ❤️
BTW my favorite character is Naruto but none of the hokage can do half d greatness to the village that Tobirama did during his lifetime and all that Uchiha hating guy was just pure shit to me.
he's my #1 hokage because he was the one most equipped to make tough decisions. Any leader needs that.
My favorite character in the series. Love that guy and I hate to see him get misrepresented like he is.
Thank you so much for making these videos man. Life gets stressful and its great to just turn on one of your videos while i drive and just immerse myself in Boruto’s Dad lore! Thank you 🙏
I liked Tobirama before this video. But after realizing the true feats I think he just became one of my favorite characters.
Thank you for this one ,tobirama is the best and didn't get the love he deserved ,the dude was on God mode
With Kabuto being my fav character and Tobirama being my 5th favorite it feels great that you made a fully in-depth videos about them. Like seriously thank you for this they are underrated.
Yes yes more senjus integrating into the village im here for it.
I do know quite a lot about tobirama senju though lmao
Thank you for bringing this up . Many people under estimate him just because he lost to Madara !
One of the best videos on this topic, if not the best I have seen until know. I really enjoyed it all the way through.
I love that you made this video. Tobirama gets slept on criminally and his character design is the best in the whole series
