Super excited about this new product. I’ve been performing for years live with UAD interfaces and using almost exclusively UAD plugins . Also I’m a FOH ENGINEER for various venues in Denver including a weekly worship gig . Cant wait to employ this in this situation. I’ve already been doing this use case . This product empowers me to do an even better job and most importantly ….if will be more fun!
How some YT channels can already complain about the relevance of this hardware and its use is beyond my understanding. This is such a useful piece of equipment.
Maybe the issue is that people dont understand what it’s capable of. While i love new UA products, not sure how this will benefit studio use. Live usage seems like a great idea. But why replace a current 6 unit Apollo rig ?
It's actually pretty easy to understand the criticism, let me help you out since it's beyond your understanding. The Apollo lineup of interfaces hasn't been updated in 5 years and is outdated in a bunch of different ways and has fallen behind the competition. The release of a new unit in the lineup with all the same limitations is an indicator that they don't have a major update coming any time soon, so people are disappointed. (Edit) To add onto that, the company hasn't released a new DSP plugin in many years and has been ignoring the existing users of their very expensive hardware & DSP plugins to focus exclusively on native plugins for a totally new market of users. So this product is also a little bit annoying in showing that they haven't forgotten about their DSP lineup, but now they're chasing yet another new user segment instead of making any improvements for their existing user base.
I have to disagree. This is a very good step on the right direction but if it's going Dante it needs to be high track count. My Yamaha and x32 and other Dante interfaces can all talk to each other and give me a total of 64 channels of IO id love to see this interface with 24 or more channels of Dante IO. That way I can get rid of the lag fest with waves sound grid. Or integrate my Dante consoles into my studio for more channels. It's a amazing step but needs more to stay relevant. I am going to buy this tho lol 😅
Very useful unit I think we all understand that but the dsp and d to a is the same and that worries a lot of people. If they added an arm chip and upgraded the d to a and even doubled the price if they had to there would be a lot less complaints because arm destroys the shark chips they use by at least 4x.
Any update on the wasapi non ASIO drivers for interfacing with windows applications like discord or zoom so it doesn’t sound all crackley? Can’t use my twin for anything that’s not ASIO, so it’s only limited to recording to my DAW Would love to get one of these, but wouldn’t matter if I couldn’t use that audio with these applications
VB Audio Matrix. Just route the mic output to the VAIO in, and use that VAIO in as your mic input. You can even use a DAW with the output set to the UAD virtual out, and then route that virtual out to the VAIO input. I do that often when I want to add extra processing to my mic or guitar input before it goes out to discord or zoom.
@@casualintrovert207 that’s a great tip and I’ll set that up, but not an excuse for a $1000 interface. And requires you to have the application open, or for it to run on startup which lengthens boot up time Amazing tip though! It would still be better for the company to fix it when they advertise full windows compatibility
3:40 Can you clarify this please? If I already have the maximum 6 UAD devices (3x x8, 1x x4, 2x Satellite), can I still add one or more x16d to add additional DSP? If so, how seamless is it? Do I have to manually route audio back and forth?
can we expect a visual update soon across all apollos that follow the same schema as the x16D, its a small thing but I definitely like the sleeker look on the x16D
To activate the plugins on previous version a laptop/computer is required. Did any modifications made to the X16D to recall the plugins without having a computer readily available?
If you connect a computer's ethernet port to the secondary network port on the interface, how then do you then connect the computer to the internet via ethernet? Do you need a second ethernet port or does the Cat5/6 also connects you to the internet as well as the Dante Network?
@@UniversalAudio I own all UAD plugins… But, a lot of 3D party plugins I use rather (BSA, SSL etc.) Latency is great, but I will not buy x16D, because I can not use my prefered plugins…
This will make your digital mixer sound BETTER. With 16 channels of premium UAD plugins on the LV and other important channels as well as the stereo bus and FX sends, you'll get a mix that surpasses what the built in processing of the desk can achieve. Be sure to get a demo at your local UA dealer.
@@UniversalAudio That's amazing! Has this been tested on PCs with AMD processors as opposed to Intel as well? It would be great to have recommended PC models or PC Builds for Desktops as well Also, I'm assuming it can't be coupled with Apollo USB but has to be Thunderbolt?

No, x16D is an Apollo and will be one of your 6 devices.
It’s Drew!
Oh man!! One day I hope can get a couple of these....thanks again Drew!
I hope LUNA overtakes Protool as the industry standard
My pleasure!

Sorry, we can't comment on any future developments or releases. We appreciate your interest though and encourage you to stay tuned.

x16D is controlled by a dedicated computer via Thunderbolt.
Thank you!
👍🏻

Do you need a second ethernet port or does the Cat5/6 also connects you to the internet as well as the Dante Network?
Using a switch.
@@UniversalAudio I see, thank you! And no need for a Virtual Dante Interface right?
So is this better than my UAD Arrow and UAD-2 Satellite then?
For processing in real time? yes! Over a network? yes! Sats are amazing for mixing in a DAW for sure!
@@UniversalAudio I better get saving then!
I miss Office Hours!! I need support to maximize the use of my X16 D with my Midas M32 board. I am open to comments and suggestions, GO!
what is min. roundtrip latency? Waves SoundGrid has 0.8ms
Ours is the same. .8ms core latency, plus what you set in Dante Controller.
@@UniversalAudio great, but the same problem as Waves - only UAD plugins… :-(
This is a plus!! x16D is rock solid and running the best plugins in the biz.

Wait, Luna works on PC's ? When did this happen. Wawoo (I'm a lil late)
Few months ago we released a public beta.
So I can’t run soundtoys
I don't see reason to buy this when I got digital mixer

Itˋs the copy Version from a Wave Sever
Let me guess... No PC support ? 😒
Works perfectly on PCs. Look in the background, it's running on a Lenovo t490.

@@randomproductioncompany995 It has the same requirements as the rest of the Apollo line. Correct, you cannot mix and match protocols with Apollos.
Einfach die Kopie eines Wave Servers
