Totally agree and for sure what makes me come back to them. I’m 35 and I’m about to take out my 35mm and start my street photography , thanks for the inspiration 🎉
luv this jefe Sean, humble, motivated, efficient even tho he said 'he's lazy',😂... I would say self critical evolves into personal motivation. bless ya Paulie, best binge material on the YT!
Im only half way through the episode, but had to take a break to congratulate you on the episode and this whole series. I have not found anything like this elsewhere. You are building a community in New York but also online. I was at the Aipad show on friday, and there were fantastic photos (too expensive for me), but i would rather support contemporary street photographers like you and your guests. Would live to see a couple of episodes of darkroom process both b&w and color. Thanks, John
I think NY street photography can be great and each different artist lends their own perspective but I think it's also important to document where you are and not feel like you need to be in a certain place to be a street photographer.
Love your videos ❤ I think you should do a series where you meet NEW photographers & interview them right on the spot. I think you have the power and platform to help others achieve recognition out there in the streets.
I love all these videos, it really shows the range of different street photographers and there's really nothing that stops people to go out and just shoot. I do wonder though, how does each of them support themselves financially, how many of them can turn their photos into profit, cuz films are really expensive these days, and it doesn't seems to me that easy to make a living by street photography.
Man that regret is shared--I wish I would have bought that SLR instead of the camcorder I got going into the Air Force =/ Shot like two tapes with that stupid thing and that's it. Now it's probably either in a thrift store bargain bin somewhere or the trash.
I always stop what I’m doing when a walkie talkie drops. Awesome interview I always learn a little more about the struggles of street photography. Curious if you think about traveling to the west coast or Chicago to do some interviews.
Tough thing for me (a whack landscape photographer) about shooting in the same locations is that you often end up with "This is nice, but just a worse version of a photo I already took" photos.
Are modeling releases needed for these images? I also have a darkroom but it's black and white. Currently everything is in pieces, but it's all there. This was an awesome video! Thank you!!
Hey Paulie, Love your videos, great content.. love the vibe in NYC.. Your sound quality is great.. Can I ask a couple of questions - What Mic set up do you use and Lapel Mic ? and do you record audio separate and sync audio after or just connect the mics to the GoPro? thanks so much,. Mark. :)
Hey Sean. Cool to meet you man. I’m in Hampton Bays. Suffolk county! And a professional drone cinematographer. Maybe collab one day. Be safe brother. …..ha! Literally this stupid idea just came into my head……a rubber skin to fit over Leica cameras so it looks like a $10 Kodak disposable camera. Cause thieves know Rolexes & Leicas.
So I’ve just come across your channel and I love this series. But I’ve noticed something kind of cool. This woman at 5:49 is the same lady from the walkie talkie you did with Tommy Wisecup. I remember her because Tommy was in the middle of changing rolls when he noticed her, had to pull his second camera out to get a picture of her. But I’m dubbing her the “polka dot hat lady”. Unless she’s a well known like the green lady.
After seeing the 100th video of people taking absolutely boring photos of gas stations and parking cars, this was really interesting to watch! Thank you!
I binged watched your entire WT series! This is my first episode that I had to wait for! If you want, I can go to NYC, take my Hi Matic 7s with a 50mm that I am still practicing on and give you a guy WITHOUT a Leica!
Hey Pauli, I really enjoy your Walkie Talkies, the way you talk to the photographer, the editing etc. But after 22 episodes it gets tiring watching people taking photos, mostly with all the same setup. Not that I mind them using a Leica (M6) but also the same focal length. I'm just a stranger from the internet so who am I to judge, I don't know how much is behind these videos, the organization to meet up with the photographer etc. It would be really refreshing to see a Walkie Talkie with someone who uses e.g. a TLR, or idk- a super wideangle lense. The video where you interviewed Jerry Pena is a really good video, very interesting and something new, something many people haven't seen before. Another photographer with a 28mm and most likely a Leica gets tiring. But again, who am I to judge. Take this as constructive criticism, the videos are great but I'd love to see more unique photographers :) Greetings from Germany!
Hi -- thank you for the comment and watching. Although the set ups are similar, to me, the philosophies, stories, and approaches vary. Again, I never ask or know what cameras people are going to be shooting until I hit record. It's always about the community I'm in and the photography, not the camera/lens. I'm not a gear channel, the conversations rarely ever talk about gear/specs - I'd recommend checking out channels that like to experiment and talk about different cameras because that's not what we do here.
Paul, I love learning from you and your friends, but sometimes I respectfully disagree. Not with any one photog, but more so with the "apparent" current trend of street photography. The quality of photos I see are great (shout out to leica again and to each shooters developing process), yet there seems to be more emphasis on collecting shots than creating specific narratives and/or connection with subjects. Obviously, a high quantity of shooting is paramount in creating high quality work. I do like the hunting/fishing question, but this a gathering (taking) process rather a narrative/storyline (creating) one. Granted, Capa's advice rings in my ears all the time ("If your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough..."), but maybe he meant connectivity as well proximity to the observed. Is it possible the reason "nothing's happening out here today" is due to a singular focus on the hunt? Is it possible the great works of both the past and present have elements of both? I hope my words don't offend. I self evaluate constantly and strive to create and recreate my work all the time. I look forward to more lessons from you and your colleagues. All the best, Pete Hopkins
Everyone’s different. Me personally, at this moment, i just like taking pictures & don’t try to put too much pressure on “creating a narrative “. That said, some people live for that & that’s cool too.
i love that you have the photographers photos in the videos intermittently, it makes it much more engaging
Totally agree and for sure what makes me come back to them. I’m 35 and I’m about to take out my 35mm and start my street photography , thanks for the inspiration 🎉
lmao the audio being lowered @ 13:17 killed me haha
I could watch these all day I hope they never stop
So happy to see him on here finally. One of the best real dudes I met when I was out there.
🤝 Sean’s the best

So cool seeing you in action! Your desire to contribute your photography to the history of this great city is an admirable.
I think NY street photography can be great and each different artist lends their own perspective but I think it's also important to document where you are and not feel like you need to be in a certain place to be a street photographer.
Totally agree, a bit boring to only see pictures in Manhattan. Other places would be cool🙌
his darkroom work is neat, excellent.
my favorite one yet. i like this dude
Epic video again.
Love those roof shots, pity he moved on, maybe he can do both.
Thanks for sharing, loved every second !!!
Thanks RS! I'm 95% sure Sean still takes roof shots, just doesn't share them.
Let’s go Sean! Super talented. Great interview.
Thank you for watching Daniel!
Love the in depth interviews as always!
Appreciate you Cherry - thanks for watching!
Love your videos ❤ I think you should do a series where you meet NEW photographers & interview them right on the spot. I think you have the power and platform to help others achieve recognition out there in the streets.
Bro got some good shots in real time no joke
It's such a great dialog filled with insightful info. Thanks for the great walkie talkie... cheers!
Another great episode. Can't get enough of it 🙂
Thanks for the video. It's nice to see New York alive again. Ottawa Canada here.
Thanks for Watching Rick!
I'm also a sucker for a cowboy hat
Sean is fucking good

love Sean's work and im so glad that you guys were friends first because it made this walkie talkie so sick to consume
Glad you enjoyed the video Nazir!
Love to see our boy finally appear on Walkie Talkie! You need to get out to his darkroom for a print day video sometime!
I’ve been slacking on getting out to Sean’s darkroom for suuuure
Thanks for this episode Paulie and Reuben.
Man that regret is shared--I wish I would have bought that SLR instead of the camcorder I got going into the Air Force =/

lets gooooo its Sean!
Another great one, Pauli.
Bought my first m body January 2020 so I feel that
I grew up in Oceanside, Westlake Ave.
Sean the man !
Been waiting for this one! Great episode.
Great guy, inspiring and entertaining video!
I always stop what I’m doing when a walkie talkie drops. Awesome interview I always learn a little more about the struggles of street photography. Curious if you think about traveling to the west coast or Chicago to do some interviews.
Appreciate you taking the time and watching Kevin. Yes taking Walkie Talkie on the road is in the plan/works! Stay tuned!
Sean!!
Always excited to see a new video from you man
Always appreciate u Rob
love this episode!!
When he started to sing in the end lmao, i am dead 😂😂
Gotta respect a man who develops and prints himself in a darkroom 😎
Another killer episode, Paulie!
Thanks Hugo!
13:19 After he said „bad sound“ the sound turned bad😂😂
Tough thing for me (a whack landscape photographer) about shooting in the same locations is that you often end up with "This is nice, but just a worse version of a photo I already took" photos.
And respect for talking about those days when you come home feeling like you got no keepers.
Ye bro another solid interview!
Thanks for watching Cameron
Are modeling releases needed for these images? I also have a darkroom but it's black and white. Currently everything is in pieces, but it's all there. This was an awesome video! Thank you!!
Good shit, Paulie👌🏾
did no one tell the jets that he sacrificed his entire hobby for them haha
Another great one
Buncha dawgs!!!
Didn't know you're Filipino til I checked your IG bro. Really great content here. Hopefully I can get some motivation from your videos. Cheers
these vidoes inspire me so much so i thank you, honestly. start a patreon
Thanks for watching them Josh. Actually started a patreon last month which you can find here: bit.ly/PaulieBPatreon

Great episode, Paulie! Did you color grade the footage to be a little flatter/washed out or is my monitor messing with me?
Thanks! Yea definitely flatter than usual. First Walkie Talkie filmed solely on the R6ii which I’m still trying to figure how I like to color grade
@@PaulieB Thought so! It’s not bad but it made Sean’s skin look a little gray and sickly.

he need to show us the bikes!
Yeiii!
It'd be awesome if you came to Europe! You'd have a field day in London and Paris I feel, and I'm always available to show you around Madrid :)
If all goes well, I would love to take the series to Europe and even Asia, South America, Africa, etc etc!
Next eps. Walkie talkie with kazu
smart guy
Manhattan is good place to take photos like his...
Yes
OSIDEEE!!!
Here for the chapstick
After seeing the 100th video of people taking absolutely boring photos of gas stations and parking cars, this was really interesting to watch! Thank you!
What is the sling bag he is carrying?😊
Found it. The herschel seventeen!

If Joe Greer and Robert Patterson had a kid
His pretentious hobby is a shared hobby we have
he the steve buschemi of street photography
good video, why is your autofocus constantly refiring jesus
I love your channel! Just subscribed. Question, street photographers typically don’t make a living from this? It’s more of a passion?!
You got it- 99.9% of street photographers make their living from other jobs/careers/types of photography
nice darkroom bro!
I'm pretty surprised by the amount of people featured on this channel who use Leica cameras.
This is a great channel, do you have a Twitter account?
Thank you! Yea I do have one but have yet to tweet anything, it’s @PaulieBPhoto on Twitter

@@PaulieB totally true. apologies... sometimes i get on a soap box. too much late night coffee? anyway, good vibes to everyone. P
At least it wasn't a Leica M6 😂
crazy right
@@PaulieB I'm guessing it's considered like the Skyline GT-R of film cameras.
I shoot on a CANON AE-1P, have a 1.1k followers, and born and raised in NYC. Let's do it for the budget episode.
Is it really that hard to find someone that uses a Nikon or Canon rangefinder ! Or even a lowly nikonos. This is turning into a Leica channel
It’s harder to make videos that aren’t about gear without people obsessing about the gear being used.
if a photographer wants to "control" everything, thencreate your own film, or else your NOT controlling everything
WTF with your color grading?? oh its just overexposed😅
what
So obnoxious with these leicas
I hope you’re able to survive
Lol. They talk about gear for like 5 seconds and the rest of the video is about taking photos.
Soo obnoxious with the gear obsession.
Leica...leica...leica.....leica.........pure snobbery...
