Shades of Mario means 'Super' Mario Lemieux, retired player who compares to Wayne Gretzky. That last goal by Rick Nash is considered as Top2 goal of all time in NHL.
To your question the techniques themselves are doable. Most players you see in the NHL *can do them. In practice, stationary or moving slowly around someone who isn't a skilled player. Doing them at high speed, against other elite players, midgame with the fatigue, under pressure is a completely different thing.
I'm not sure if you know this about that McDavid goal but that goal was in his rookie season. but early in the season on November 3rd 2015 he broke his collar bone which he was out until February 2nd 2016. In his return he scored that amazing goal against the blue jackets which also explains why the announcer said welcome back.
Yes Adam he is still allowed to hit him without a stick. In fact that is the correct play. He should have hit him and let the other defender get the puck. If you take the body there you wouldn't end up on a highlight reel.
"Shades of Mario" refers to Mario Lemieux, who is one of the greatest players to ever play, was also a Pittsburgh Penguin, and who was famous for moves of the kind Malkin pulled off.
Yes, you can still check a guy if you lost your stick, provided it's a legal check. In this case, he (mostly) missed the puck carrier with the check, but say he was able to slow down the puck carrier, and the defenceman's teammate got the puck, that would have been fine. There was nothing illegal about what he did.
Been playing hockey almost 30 years. Well, not consistently since I was 18, but I've never been able to do most of these. Most people can't anyway, so I'm not too upset :) Last I checked Datsyuk retired from the NHL but still plays in a Russian league
If you really love watching the dangles GoPro has a series called "GoPro: On The Ice" that show off how much of a "JOKE" some of the moves are in the NHL and gives a POV of what they are seeing on the ice. Features Crosby, Patrick Kane and more. Patrick Kane one is my fav one. Check them out Cupcake!
I was a goalie so I never learned to dangle. What’s so underrated about these moves is they can do it, and not look down the whole time. Because if you dangle with your eyes or head down, you’re gonna be in a video about getting loaded into an ambulance.
To answer some of your questions, Adam 1. You´re still allowed to tackle without a stick, The only problem without a stick is scoring a legal goal 2. They have not announced the realese date for NHL 24 yet but in tradition it´s always realesed 2 weeks before or after....EA Sports FC 3. Pavel Datsyuk doesn´t play anymore, He retired from the NHL in 2016 and retired full-time from hockey in 2021 after a couple years back home in Russia
0:21 - Alexander Barkov 1:05 - Nathan MacKinnon 1:41 - Andreas Athanasiou 2:00 - Claude Giroux 2:30 - Morgan Rielly 2:57 - Tomáš Hertl 3:54 - Connor McDavid 4:26 - Evgeni Malkin 4:49 - Evgeni Malkin 5:18 - Alexander Ovechkin 5:35 - Pavel Datsyuk 6:03 - Patrick Kane 6:27 - Connor McDavid 6:54 - Bobby Ryan 7:28 - Rick Nash
On the second goal by a young Evgeni Malkin of Pittsburgh, the comment "shades of Mario" referred to Mario Lemieux, who had just retired or was still playing at that time. Pavel Datsyuk left the NHL in 2016 when nearly 38 years old and played 5 more years in Russia. A defender without a stick will still be called for penalties like holding, so he's not very useful.
Played hockey my entire life learning how to do the dangles takes lots of practice but you do get the hang of it. What’s impressive is their playing against the best defensemen and goalies in the world and can still pull them off that’s the most impressive part being able to fool professionals the best of the best
nhl 24 is coming out October 10th almost definitely. Reveal will be around the end of August like last year. nhl 23 came out oct 11th nhl 22 came out oct 12th nhl 21 came out oct 13th Note that those are all the pre order release dates, which are all on tuesday, the regual release was on the friday
I'm sorry, but the regular release was always on Tuesday. Most of games release on Tuesday or Thursday, NHL always been on Tuesday. They say it's friday to get more pre order and let you play Tuesday, but the real release is suppose to be Tuesday. It was before studios start offering a fake 3 days shit 10-15 years ago. Pre order release date are regular date and the friday, is a 'late release date'. Everything is about statistic and numbers now, pre orders are important for them. Of course for you i'm wrong... But when you buy your video games Day one, at Tuesday everytime for 30 years and one day, they decide it's a pre order release date, i'm sorry but that's bullshit...
2:41 as a player I can say that I have some moves. But the thing is that everyone’s moves are relative to how fast the game they’re playing is moving. Since the NHL is the fastest league, the speed at which they pull their moves is incredible. They are easier to do moving slower, lol. 3:50 the word is: “undressed” 7:25- yes, the stickless D can still play the body.
2:27 I'm a hockey player and where I play, one of my teammates and I are actually notorious for having great stickhandling and nasty dangles. The amount of breakaways I've completed and the amount of coast to coast goals my teammate has completed are crazy. That's another thing you should react to, NHL Coast to Coast Goals.
"shades of Mario" - Mario lemieux - One of History's greatest. Might have been the greatest if not for injuries and illness (cancer). Look for his highlights - OMG. Cheers!
I could pull these moves off but not in a game usually only when me and some friends would rent out the ice and just have some fun, my best moves came when I didn’t care about getting benched
The new NHL24 better fix the basic sh-t that's broken. Ever try to call for a pass or a drop in EASHL from the computer when entering the zone? Like WTF!!!! The penalty countdown clock is non existent and the list goes on. Basic sh-t that they don't fix. FYI LOVE the videos Adam....
Yup you can still play and body check if you somehow lost your stick. Only thing is that you cannot score a goal without it. Everything else goes. It has to still be within legal guideline rules tho, body check wise. No grabbing and hauling down 🙈 oh and the new NHL 24 is coming out early October. Like 13th or 14th. I forget. One of those days for sure tho. Shoutout from New Brunswick, Canada 🇨🇦 Home of hockey!!! 😜
i can do some of those moves/dangles BUT not against NHL'ers obviously "Shades of Mario" refers to Mario Lemieux one of if not The best player that has ever played for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Yes you're allowed to tackle the the other team if you lose your stick as long as he has the puck
MLB most wanted ejections next pls, trust me u will like it. It is umpires (referees of baseball) kicking out players that are misbehaving from the ball game. Besides the most wanted ejections, in the same video watch Don Zimmer (former manager of the cubs) fight with umpire in 1989. Thanks! 0:14 , u mean best?
Is dangling hard? Not really. Is it hard going full speed against the best players in the world? I’d imagine so lol. It’s just another reason why McDavid is out of this world, he does it regularly.
Also I play hockey but I can't dangle through players very well. I can dangle the goalie when I have a breakaway or a shootout but I'm not very good at dangling through other players. And I play defense and can't defend very well either. And when I do I get a penalty almost every time 😂
the term "Dangle" has changed it's meaning since I was a kid... when I was younger and played, Dangle meant the ability to skate faster with the puck than the rest. "He can Dangle" was basically saying that he can skate just as fast with the puck as he can when he doesn't have it. A bunch of people at some point must've misunderstood, and now it means something else completely. I was a goalie when I played, but I could play any position. When I played "unorganized" hockey on the pond or outdoor rinks, being a member of the "goaltender's union", people were always amazed at how good I was playing skater positions, and yes, I can "dangle" - both the old meaning and the new one. Haven't been on skates in over a decade though.
and adam, go to a trial training with the belfast giants.. they show you some tricks.. and that will be a great youtube video too.. everybody wants to see you on the ice... come on big boy.. you can do this...
You need to come over the pond to Canada to see some games live, you think these videos are impressive? Watch mcdavid against matthews in person, I’ve never been to an NHL game, but I know people who have, and they tell me the same thing, so I had to tell you lol
I remember that rick nash goal as it were yesterday i was at that game as a small boy and iy was just mesmerizing watching rick nash just decimate those defensemen to score that beautiful goal
When you lose your stick you are allowed to body check and gain possession of the puck using your feet. You can pass but it is illegal to score with your feet
I never knew anything about soccer, but loved hockey. My kid played soccer, and I realized how similar these two sports are. I get why people are so passionate about soccer now
The coach was using terms like, one-timer, we had an offense that used speed at the wing an shifted the ball horizontally across the net to a vertically moving center, making response tome to attacks minimal. Something we did on hockey. That's one examlle
As an ice hockey player yes I can do those mainly cos my dads favourite player was datsyuk and he wanted me to be the same sort of “showman” should I say
Adam what are the odds we can get you to the states/canada for a hockey game. If you come to an Islanders game, I will make sure to go and buy you a beer
The goal @ 2:02 is Claude Giroux. Him and Crosby had a beef you should watch the video on. It made for some great hockey. Sid undoubtedly won that battle but G is definitely worth checking out!

Can I make you a new Channel Logo Adam? Where can I send it to you?
I can do dingleberries
Shades of Mario means 'Super' Mario Lemieux, retired player who compares to Wayne Gretzky.
That last goal by Rick Nash is considered as Top2 goal of all time in NHL.
SO much fun watching them together in Canada Cup in '87.
Pavel Datsuk dangle... dont remember did it end up in the net, but defender looks stupid... Maybe a bit disrespectable - if that is a word.
As someone who plays nhl 23, yes I will get the new one, it should be coming out around October
Adam talking about McDavid and MacKinnon lol you gotta love it.
Wouldn't be a vid without Ovi.
Btw shades of Mario means shade of Mario Lemieux who used to play and was a legend on Pittsburg. The commentator was comparing mario to him
I was there live for the 6:29 McDavid goal and the 7:29 Rick Nash goal. Two of the most incredible goals I have ever seen.
You travelled to Edmonton and Phoenix to watch the BJ's?
To your question the techniques themselves are doable. Most players you see in the NHL *can do them. In practice, stationary or moving slowly around someone who isn't a skilled player. Doing them at high speed, against other elite players, midgame with the fatigue, under pressure is a completely different thing.
Adam! Even without your stick, you can still check legally.
I'm not sure if you know this about that McDavid goal but that goal was in his rookie season. but early in the season on November 3rd 2015 he broke his collar bone which he was out until February 2nd 2016. EA usually doesn't announce their hockey games releases till last minute for some reason. Release date is normally mid September to early October
Yes, you can still check a guy if you lost your stick, provided it's a legal check. Adam: "I can watch these all day"
Adam, 1 minute later: "I can't watch this" 🤣
Been playing hockey almost 30 years. Well, not consistently since I was 18, but I've never been able to do most of these. Most people can't anyway, so I'm not too upset :)
Last I checked Datsyuk retired from the NHL but still plays in a Russian league
I can do the dangles! ..At a much slower speed ......and while stationary, but yeah, I can do the dangles! 😂

If you lose your stick I believe you're allowed to do all the things you normally would. It's just an inconvenience for yourself.
EA's NHLs tend to drop 1st or 2nd full week of september iirc
Let's gooooo
Yessssss let's goooooo!!!!! Lol
NHL games usually come out on the 2nd Tuesday of October, with that being said it should drop on October 10th
Pavel Datsyuk plays in the KHL in Russia now
That goal by Rick mash is called undressing the player
Datsyuk has some of the dirtiest dangles of all time, and it’s not even close. There’s a reason he’s called The Magic Man
Dude if you do not know who Rick Nash is then you absolutely have to do a reaction to his highloghts
7:28 - Rick Nash scored one of the best goal ever !!
To be honest you should rename the title: players prancing and dancing and breaking ankles 😂
datsyuks greatest deke isnt even in this. you have to see the one where he makes the guy fall over
I play hockey it’s an awesome sport
I was a goalie so I never learned to dangle. What’s so underrated about these moves is they can do it, and not look down the whole time. Because if you dangle with your eyes or head down, you’re gonna be in a video about getting loaded into an ambulance.

I can do them but not in the speed that these guys do them at
0:21 - Alexander Barkov
1:05 - Nathan MacKinnon
1:41 - Andreas Athanasiou
2:00 - Claude Giroux
2:30 - Morgan Rielly
2:57 - Tomáš Hertl
3:54 - Connor McDavid
4:26 - Evgeni Malkin
4:49 - Evgeni Malkin
5:18 - Alexander Ovechkin
5:35 - Pavel Datsyuk
6:03 - Patrick Kane
6:27 - Connor McDavid
6:54 - Bobby Ryan
7:28 - Rick Nash
i play hockey, not there quite yet.

"Undressing" a defender is skill that can't be taught. These guys see the game at a different speed than normal.
Thanks again for reacting to my video! Please do more

Adam,call 911, I'm having stomach seizures
nhl 24 is coming out October 10th almost definitely. Reveal will be around the end of August like last year.

7:25- yes, the stickless D can still play the body.
Hockey players can skate up to 20 miles an hour the fastest up to 25. So everything you see here is happening very quickly.
Of coure we can, jst like Auston Matthews, 🤣are you fucking kidding me
Next video suggestion: "Hockey Meets Soccer" (hockey highlights with soccer commentary).
Connor McDavid is the best hockey player right now but Gordy Howe is the best player to man kind
@AdamCouser u should watch trevor zegras. such a spectacular player. Great dangles and skills.
Adam.. you're an NHL game player... you tried to play real hockey game ?... just trying i mean !
"Shades of Mario" refers to Mario Lemieux. Captain of the penguins. Was the Crosby of his time.
hi
hi
NHL 24 comes out October 12th or 13th
I can do most of them
2:27 I'm a hockey player and where I play, one of my teammates and I are actually notorious for having great stickhandling and nasty dangles. The amount of breakaways I've completed and the amount of coast to coast goals my teammate has completed are crazy. That's another thing you should react to, NHL Coast to Coast Goals.
Incase you didn’t know: a goalie making a miraculous save is what we call getting robbed. Because he robbed you of a goal.
Bro check out Connor McDavid. Bro pov your the goalie and the entire defence going against McDavid 💀
@adamcouser Rick Nash is gross I remember growing up watching my team play the jackets and being like that’s the only guy I’m really concerned about.
Check out jordan Eberles game tying goal against Russia in the world junior tournament! The best last minute of hockey you'll see
Yup you can still play and body check if you somehow lost your stick. Only thing is that you cannot score a goal without it. Everything else goes. normally the new NHL game comes out around September, October. I'm not sure of the exact month for this year
Can you watch some pavel bure...i remember when i was younger he was my favourite player.
I play... the answer is nope, can't do the dangle. Maybe thats why I stick to defence.
i can do some of those moves/dangles BUT not against NHL'ers obviously "Shades of Mario" refers to Mario Lemieux one of if not The best player that has ever played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Yes you're allowed to tackle the the other team if you lose your stick as long as he has the puck
nhl games always release around the beginning of the regular season (Octoberish)
MLB most wanted ejections next pls, trust me u will like it. It is umpires (referees of baseball) kicking out players that are misbehaving from the ball game. Bro... you may aswell just put hockey fan in the title. i know u were watching playoffs live like 2 years ago
Also I play hockey but I can't dangle through players very well. I can dangle the goalie when I have a breakaway or a shootout but I'm not very good at dangling through other players. And I play defense and can't defend very well either. And when I do I get a penalty almost every time 😂
How dare you call McDavid a joke. He is very serious. Very serious! Joke yourself, jokester!
Datsyk's feet smelling like strawberries is an excellent tshirt concept btw lol

NHL 24 should come out October 13th but if you buy the most expensive one to get a 3 day early access
Haven't seen any nhl23 release date. I believe they're usually end September/early October
Go check him out greatest hockey player ever Mario Lemieux
I can do dangles like that I wouldn’t say I score goals liek that but Fs can do em
and adam, go to a trial training with the belfast giants.. they show you some tricks.. and that will be a great youtube video too.. everybody wants to see you on the ice... come on big boy.. you can do this...
McDavid might seem like a joke but check out his plus minus
Nhl24 comes out October we should be getting alot of news about in the coming weeks probably next week we know who is on the cover
You need to come over the pond to Canada to see some games live, you think these videos are impressive? Watch mcdavid against matthews in person, I’ve never been to an NHL game, but I know people who have, and they tell me the same thing, so I had to tell you lol
NHL 23 is pretty fun. Playing it right now
Suggestion: Cale Makar dancing on the blue line.
I remember that rick nash goal as it were yesterday i was at that game as a small boy and iy was just mesmerizing watching rick nash just decimate those defensemen to score that beautiful goal
Can you do jack Hughes highlights plz ❤
EA is a copy and paste game imo. Just roster updates every year basically.
When you lose your stick you are allowed to body check and gain possession of the puck using your feet. You can pass but it is illegal to score with your feet
do you play nhl on xbox or ps? Usually NHL come out around October!
I never knew anything about soccer, but loved hockey. My kid played soccer, and I realized how similar these two sports are. I get why people are so passionate about soccer now
Similar? How?
The coach was using terms like, one-timer, we had an offense that used speed at the wing an shifted the ball horizontally across the net to a vertically moving center, making response tome to attacks minimal. Something we did on hockey. That's one examlle
Bro hockey is better then football
Oh I agree, I'm a life long Backhawks fan, but I've learned to appreciate soccer
@@Erkkiiithe way the sport is played tactically is more similar than you would think
As an ice hockey player yes I can do those mainly cos my dads favourite player was datsyuk and he wanted me to be the same sort of “showman” should I say
i can do all this dangles against a puppet.. no problemo amigo :D thats why i play in the beer-league .. yes sir

As you can see by my avatar. I'm the one who always gets dangled :/
nhl 24 date hasn't been released yet but they usually come out in September
slapshot rebound is much better than any nhl game
