NHL 22 GIVEAWAY LIVE NOW! www.twitch.tv/adamcouser
5:58 There's 82 games in an NHL season, so 41 is basically half a season.
Can you reak to video Finland-Russia2014.vladimir shipazov insane hit to Pekka jormakka.it's veri bad and Pekka Jormakka ded on hospital
He ves My dad
And it's dirtiest hit in hockey history
Still waiting for the.... "How Are They Not Dead??" Shirts. Lol
The Matt Cooke on Marc Savard injury basically ended Savard's career and damaged his private life for about ten years. The Vancouver Aaron Rome hit on Nathan Horton completely derailed Horton's career and he was never the same.
As a Bruins fan, I still remember that so clearly. Everyone had a Savard jersey in grade school. Definitely a sad time and a potential amazing career cut too short 😕
@@ExpertAssass1n I remember it too. He had such a future ahead of him and instead of that he struggles back, gets cheapshotted again, but the damage from Cooke was so much that that was it. The rumors had it that he basically had to exist either nocturnally or with full blackout curtains with his family for years after. He did just pick up a coaching job, though, so here's hoping Matt Cooke becomes a pillar of salt and Savvy can translate his offensive skill into coaching.
I also can't fathom anything but shock preventing Looch and Z absolutely wrecking Cooke every game afterward.
@nth Savard was on the path to be with Berg, Lucic, Krejci. Etc. He was a 1st line player. Absolute disappointment whay happened. He was bound to be a legend.
I agree with Savard, but as far as I know, Horton's career was cut short due to a never-ending back injury, whereas the Rome hit "only" gave him a concussion (it's still a dirty hit and wrong on all points, but I don't think it affected his career)
There are 82 games in a season so being suspended for 41 games is being suspended for half the season
1) At 4:18, Dale Hunter received a suspension of 21 games, one-quarter of a season. I believe it was the first suspension that long.
2) At 5:27, Max Pacioretty suffered a broken vertebra in his neck and a severe concussion. Thankfully, he is still playing at an elite level for part of this season.
3) At 9:31, that's current Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron lying on the ice after suffering a concussion in 2007. At age 36, he is still regarded as the best "two-way" center in the NHL, meaning that he plays excellent defense in addition to scoring goals.
4) At 10:19, it was the second player in white, Nazem Kadri, who delivered the hit which led to a suspension.
5) At 10:36, that's Scott Stevens knocking Paul Kariya unconscious with a hit to the head. It was both legal and dirty. Now it's illegal and will get a player suspended.
6) I would say the last hit with no fans in the building was definitely dirty, but not the worst we see. He was just frustrated that his team lost, which is like a child throwing a tantrum.
Mostly true, but I’d say the last one was a charge at most. It wasn’t high, it wasn’t from behind. In the playoffs, I’d say that doesn’t get called.
Also, I don’t think it was frustration. If he had got there a milliseconds earlier he would have saved a goal, and by the time the MTL player scored, he was already barreling towards him at high speed. No way out of it. Winnipeg still had like 45 seconds to turn it back the other way
@@benc.3128 delusional take
@@XxlivexlovexhatexX It’s a 1 goal game in the playoffs, if you think schiefele, or any player in the NHL is slowing down and not going for that charge, YOU are the delusional one lmao. Hit wasn’t high nor was it interference, he’s right, the only rule that was broken was charging, because he took multiple strides toward Evans.
It’s not even a take, those are the rules.
5) Kariya returned to that game and scored the winning goal somehow
@@DavusProductions Both are no longer allowed--the hit by Stevens and playing with concussion symptoms (they didn't bother having a doctor check back then).
1:52 When a player gets knocked down like that, and his arms are straight up in the air, you know he's not conscious.
You should watch the bruins Shawn Thornton beat the socks off Matt Cooke the very next game they played the penguins. Thornton wasn’t a big guy but he was ready to go to war for his team and he made Matt Cooke pay
After he got ripped in media for doing nothing about it during game it happened.
As a penguin fan who absolutely hated Cooke, it was wonderful to see, truly.
I was at that game... didn't feel like nearly enough, especially now knowing what it did to Savard
Thornton wasn't a big guy but he was one hell of a fighter. Enforcer for the bs for years.
???
Shawn Thornton's 6'2. He's pretty big. He's not freakishly tall or anything but he's got 3 inches on Cooke.
It’s so cool seeing Adam’s progress with understanding the sport. The way he knows Wilson and Domi is awesome!!
The hit at 5:35 changed how the glass and beams around the benches are.
Indeed it did, but I don’t agree with it being in a “dirty” hits video. Chara threw a check and the banister was unfortunately there.
@@mackataz1605 It's a toss up. If it was Wilson or others of his ilk it might've been on purpose. I'm not sure with Chara considering how huge he his.
@@mackataz1605 you are insane if you don’t think that’s dirty, he’s clearly riding him into the Stantion. There’s no way chara doesn’t know it is there and if you think otherwise you are a Boston homer. It’s a disgusting predatory hit. You can see his gloves pushing him.
@@knightfall7534 right - a hit is when both body collide - chara just pushed him straight to it - when u hit someone you dont give a push on his back
Good 'ole Raffi Torres. One of the most notorious headhunters in NHL history. He injured many. 41 games is half a season.
2:12 Claude Limeux hit on Kris Draper. Draper suffered a fractured skull and missed around a season. This incident is the most prominent in a whole string of things that culminated in the Infamous March 26 97 Brawl at the Joe that you reacted to before.
That game played in March is literally called "The Blood Game"
That Chara hit on Pacioretty makes me wince every single time. I mean I still to this day cannot believe he didn’t break his neck and die on the spot with that hit to the turnbuckle like that
same i remember how bad i felt when it happened
He did break his neck
1:56 Nathan Horton was an extraordinary player, he was never the same after this hit. He came back and tried to play but this was the hit that destroyed him physically.
Still miss his presence on the ice with the black & gold 🤍🤍
2:44 same goes for Marc Savard. Never recovered and this was a devastating injury. This hit changed things with the concussion protocols, and the Bruins organization learned from this incident (they rushed savard back to playing, where he sustained another concussion that was the true nail in the coffin for Savard.. but it did help us to learn more about concussions and the devastation they cause)
Adam. You remember a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away you reacted to Brawl in hockeytown? Between detroit red wings and Colorado Avalance? The goalies fought, alot of brawls, just a mayhem?
And you asked what did he do to deserve that?
2:03 that's what he did.
Came here to find this comment exactly!
@@curtismyers597 I was surprised it wasn't more comments about it. I doublechecked and sadly I wasn't first. :( There is 1 other comment saying it.
They get concussion and it can be serious sometimes. We had here in Sweden in SHL short for Swedish Hockey League a young player that got hit so hard that i never came back from. He ended up with injures in his back. He is now in a wheelchair and lives a normal life if you can say that
Rule 48 (they made 47 rules before considering hits to the head) was new for the 2010-11 season. Before that hits to the head were legal.
The NHL regular season is 82 games. The minimum number of games that a team has to play to win the cup is 98 (if they sweep all 4 rounds of the playoffs). Maximum number of games from the beginning of the season to the presenting of the cup is 110.
Been playing hockey for ten years and never knew about that rule
My recollection is the Cooke-Savard hit was the impetus for the headshot rule. People were calling for discipline but the Messier-Modano hit was precedent for legality.
@@Statinthehat I think it all traces back to other rule changes that decreased the payment that a player had to pay for taking a head shot. Instigator rule is just one that I can think of off the top of my head, but Bettman added a ton of rules that had the unintended effect of making it less safe to be on the ice. You would be less likely to take liberties if you knew that you would have to answer to Bob Probert, Tiger Williams, Dave Manson, Chris Nilan etc.
Currently there are 82 games in a season at one point there was 84 fun fact a couple players have played 86 games in a season due to being traded to a team that had more games left in the season
"Is that that dirtball Tom Wilson???" And on this day I fell in love with Adam Couser.
Adams commentary always makes me laugh 🤣🤣🤣
There is 82 games in a season so 41 games is exactly half the season.
At 2:35 you ask if there’s any serious injuries. The hit that’s being shown at that time stamp as you ask was a career ending concussion.
Gotta get Couser to the states for a game. I wanna sit with you mate
Tom Wilson is right up there as one of the dirtiest, up there with Matt Cooke in my time watching the nhl (Last 20 years). 82 games for a full season btw.
Love it! Keep it up man 🤙🏼
That hit on Nathan Horton ended his career
No.
He played two more seasons in Boston, even scoring a goal in the famous Toronto Game 7 comeback, before signing for Columbus. His back ended his career.
The Cooke hit on Savard, OTOH…
Still don’t understand why in these videos they don’t include the hit Oshie took that broke his collar bone in the playoffs, blatant boarding penalty that wasn’t called, that led to Ovi taunting the refs the rest of the series.
I was SO PISSED when that happened! Total miscall by the refs for sure, that derailed the team hard
@@rosellacobiskey2484 but at least we got to see Ovi knock a guy out with his fists in that series
Adam, you have the BEST reaction videos on RUclips.
82 games in a regular season so 41 games is half the season
2:03 Lemieux also refused to apologize to Kris Draper publicly or even privately, which made the Red Wings's anger fester even more
Tie Domi was the dirtiest player to ever play the game.
not cooke, torres, hunter, or samuelsson? surprised not to see ulf here.
no mcsorley?no marchment?stevens? oof
2:19 That was the hit that started the downhill spiral to The Brawl in Hockeytown. Lemieux never apologized for the hit and basically got a slap on the wrist in punishment.
5:40 he was suspended for 41 games so he was suspended for half the season theirs 82 in a season 👍 hope this helps m8 💙
Matt Cookie could have a compilation all to his own.
Oh Adam you are very consistent at making me smile, laugh and get very thrilled just to see you my dear friend 😊 😀 😘 love you so much 💓 stay well
Awesome Video My Man! you actually remind me abit of my channel there :)
Adam's intro: Well, these hockey injuries keep coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming
I love how he still calls Ovechkin “chicken”, can we make that his official nickname?
You're back!
That scheifele hit was disgusting. Really sad he had to do that, and honestly the league took mercy on him for his punishment since it’s his first offence, they shouldn’t have but they did.
2:03 The hit that sparked the Blood Feud.
Yup... the answer to Adam's question about the history that sparked the Brawl in Hockeytown .
2:24 That hit by Matt Cooke ended Marc Savard's career. He never played again. He officially retired 7 years after this hit. He is now the head coach of Windsor Spitfires. He is, also, as far as I know the only player to his name on the Stanley Cup (after the Bruins petitioned) despite not playing in the required number of games.
He actually did return for a couple of games only for someone else to give him another concussion
that hit on Paul Kariya, amazingly enough, didn't take him out of the game, he later scored in that same game, and Paul freely admits he doesn't remember it at all.
he didn't remember game 7 either. imagine if the ducks had won and he wouldn't remember it. he never got close again.
back in 68 a hockey player named bill masterton died during a game due to a hit he muttered never again before losing consiousness and was taken of life support by his parents
man, you cracked me up when you said, the referees should have a gun to keep from people fighting and shoot it towards the sky lol
Paul karyia has had plenty of those type of hits led to 6 concussions in his career I recommend Scott Stevens hit on him what happened after was unbelievable
Second best call ever... I'm an Avs fan so admittedly I'm a bit biased for "And after 22 year RAYMOND BOURQUE!!!"
Little fun fact. The small community I grew up in also produced "Randy Jones".. They named a road after him. The street sign gets regularly spray painted because folks are NOT proud of him. He's a G D disgrace!
"These refs in the NHL should carry a gun" 😂
the hit on nathan horton left him unresponsive until he got in the ambulance. he would play games here and there but that hit basically ended his career. he never officially retired but the surgeries he needed wouldn’t have allowed him to play anymore
That hit on Draper resulted in a decade rivalry between the redwings and avalanche. March 26 1997 was the Redwings pay back. Would be interested to see you watch that game as a reaction.
I’m going to hell for laughing when they dropped that dude.
Nathan Horton (the bruin player who got smoked at the blue line) i dont think he played again unfortunately.
Edit: 41 games (Raffi Torres suspension) was half the season (Season is 82 games)
3:20 hit on Dean Macammond by Steve Downie, resulted in Dean missing 10 with a concussion, and Steve getting a 20 game suspension. The game was a pre-season game
Stupidity at its finest
8:34 it's a really old RDS (French Canadian version of ESPN) so that should tell you everything you need to know
For the 7 min mark where the player in the stretcher falls over, unfortunately those older stretchers were prone to that. Even newer ones can still do that because when they are at the highest point they are just so top heavy the even rolling over a big enough pebble or a wheel gets stuck on a small crack and it can still happen.
If you remember watching fight night in hockey town, that hit from behind against the boards is what they were retaliating for
The stretchers, while they can look concerning, are often just a precaution. If a player seems disoriented or showed clear signs of a concussion like a 'fencing response' (example at 1:50), they can't risk moving the patient since there is a higher likelihood of a cervical spine injury. Causing further damage to an injury like that can paralyze. Even if the chance is minimal, it's better to just crack out the stretcher, get their neck in a brace, and have it x-rayed to be on the safe side. As for the stretcher falling, that looked like the locking mechanism gave out. I saw it a while back and always thought they just dropped him but I think it was an issue with the stretcher itself.
NHL season is 82 games, followed by 4 best of 7 series for playoff tournament of top 16 teams.
FInn Balor watching hockey is amazing.
The last hit I saw live on TV and was so horrified and shocked, I couldn't beleive what I ajd just seen. That winepeg player should've gotten more than just 4 game suspension. That was such a dirty hit.
When Claude lemuiex hit Chris draper, draper had to have facial reconstruction surgery. It started the biggest rivalry of all time. Avs vs red wings..
And 41 games is half a season. The NHL plays 82 regular games, then if you make it to the playoffs, it could go into triple digits
5:24 in Montreal they tried to charge Chara with assault for that hit
#9 Paul Kariya (Anaheim Mighty Ducks) hit by Scott Stevens (New Jersey Devils) @ 10:49 (visor fogs up when he "wakes up") came back to score the game winning goal in that game... AFTER THE HIT 😳
In my opinion, Matt Cooke was the dirtiest player in the last 30 years. He was sneaky, dirty but most reprehensibly, he made legitimate attempts to not only injure, but end careers, regularly.
These hits are brutal
i swear im a good person but when they made him fall off the stretcher i cried laughing
I remember watching the Bruins/Canadiens game live and was absoloutley shook by the Chara hit and what made it even worse i was still very young
Same the fucked part is that he didnt eve get suspended
The hit on Savard on the Bruins basically ended his career
The sad thing is that I know why savard coached not plays still because of those hits im from Peterborough his hometown and knew and played hockey with his son
The reason no one hits chicken like that is cuz they bounce back. I recently saw him play football (soccer) and the guy tried giving him a shoulder check, instead he found out the hard way that if you ever try to check a hockey player as a soccer player it shouldn’t be Ovi, he didn’t even notice either
Not only is it an elbow but the elbow pad is like a cap on it that is solid plastic
You should do a next highlight video of Andrei Vasilevskiy 🦁 the big cat Vasy. Basically the McDavid/Crosby/Ovi style of goaltending. He’s an elite star in net and he’s only 27 with 2 cups already and a Conn Smythe (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP).
If you haven’t already, you should react to Dirty Players Getting What They Deserve. It’s very satisfying to watch players like Tom Wilson forced to take the pain they dish out!
At 5:26 Max Pacioretty broke his neck and suffered a severe concussion.
Late to the party here but…the hit on Red Wing Chris Draper resulted in serious injury. The Hockeytown fights were a result of this hit on Draper.
The thing is... A lot of those hits weren't "dirty". Some were, no question. But most of them were just huge open ice hits that knocked some people out.
For more information, elbow pads contain lots of padding and hard plastic.
I was waiting for the reaction to the gurney drop 🤣
Reminds me of "Monte Python and the Holy Grail", the Black Knight
That second clip basically ended Hossa's career. He came back to play. But was never the same
The hit at 1:58 stunted Hortons career. He never played the same after that hit. Before the hit he was developing into an all star.
You would make a good Pens fan..." that dirt ball Tom Wilson" my favorite moment so far of mine on NHL22 is when Wilson came flying from center ice to challenge me and I knocked his ass out
The bruins player Mark Savard #91 got post concussion syndrome, came back for a bit but in the end it ended his career
Edit:41 games if half the season BTW each team plays 82 games per season.
That hit on Hossa in the second clip pretty much ended his career
After watching this... I need to watch NHL acts of kindness videos
41 games is 1/2 of a NORMAL NHL season. The full season for a team to not make the playoffs is 82, a single team can play up to 98 games a year if a team makes the cup and goes 7 games in each of the 4 series. So every team plays between 82-98 games per year.
If you haven't already, you need to do a react video to the Detroit Red Wings vs Colorado Avalanche fight from March 26, 1997 (aka Fight Night In Hockeytown)
The last one broke zero rules in the NHL rulebook, so technically clean. It should be changed tho
These hits and injuries are mild compared to zednicks and malarchucks injuries. Sorry if I spelled them wrong.
I'm surprised Marchand didn't make the list. dude can have his own highlight reel of dirty hits.
If a Ref fired a gun at a Hockey game all that would likely do is empty both benches and you'd have a good old time brawl.
It's not a joke. They freaking dropped Mike Modano when they were putting him in the ambulance, live on TV.
BTW, those elbow-out hits are most definitely illegal. Also head contact even using the shoulder is generally drawing suspensions now (it didn't used to) as is leaving their skates (jumping into the hit). Also checks from behind into the boards are a penalty. Clipping somebody with the elbow out like Tie Domi did to Scott Niedermayer would nowadays draw a hefty suspension.
Missing Chris Simon swinging his stick into Hollweg's face.
At 1:45 Nathan Horton took a high hit that would lead to the end of his career. He was never the same after and had to retire a year or two later.
"Couple shots in the air and people will stop fighting." Oh my poor sweet Summer Child. You've never been to a Hockey game over here in Canada, have you?
We Canadians are polite until we strap on a pair of skates.
10:06 Not to make you feel any cringier about it, but that wasn't his teeth moving... that was his JAW. His jaw was broken clean in two, needed to have surgery to glue both sides back together.
Stevens was a clean back in the day. Kadri, Cooke and Claude Lemieux should’ve got pummelled so bad they couldn’t play again
Not a Jets fan by any means, but it is insane that Scheifele got suspended for the hit at 10:55, should have been a pat on the back and a sizeable bonus instead. Talk about a backcheck
I’m sorry but “it could’ve decapitated the man” to Zednik… also Zednik with the skate blade. I’m sorry but I couldn’t help make that connection lol
I don't know if you are familiar with the penalty levels in Ice Hockey. Even if you are, I put them here for others.
2 minutes is given for standard penalties. You can get two of them slapped on you if you are severe enough or do more than one at one time.
5 minutes is for fighting and more severe versions of the two-minute variety.
10-minute misconduct penalties are given for extreme versions of the others, disrespecting the officials, or major unsportsmanlike conduct fouls.
Game misconduct is for the most egregious fouls. That is the same as getting a red card, and not only are you out of that game, you are suspended from playing in the next one.
React to NHL Goal Horn accidents
The Bruins hit on Pacioretty actually broke his neck. He’s back and playing still though
1:54 I can’t really feel that bad for dude after I watched him try to rip another guys mask off who had a broken jaw. I don’t wish for people to get hurt but I can’t really feel bad for him either lol
