That's the thing these companies don't get. If they advertise using the sort of people you can't identify with, you don't feel that the product is aimed at you, and so you move on. In fact, this ad is just 'so bad' it has driven The Critical Drinker to put aside his usual slating of some vitriolic Hollywood movie bs, and he has a video discussing this Jaguar shambles. I watched a video about the Jag ad a couple of days ago, the presenter highlighting the way Jaguar has responded to criticism on its Facebook (or Twitter) page. Some of the replies are a bit - er - weird. One I would say is downright creepy.

100%. Jaguar ceased to exist when Tata bought them in 2008. It’s just been an Indian company trading under the Jaguar brand ever since. Misguided sentimentality over what has ceased to be is mawkish and retrograde mentality. Mourn the passing of the brand, celebrate what the marque USED to be if you must, but investing one’s emotions in such things ultimately serves no purpose So, my opinion of this advert? I think it’s perfect. It speaks eloquently of everything Tata’s ambitions and what they stand for. At least they’re honest enough to admit it. Peace 🏴
@@G58 "Jaguar ceased to exist when Tata bought them in 2008. " - This is utter rubbish. It got more autonomy under Tata than it got under Ford. I know as I worked for Jaguar then later JLR, so saw what it was like under both ownerships. Ford-owned Jag gave us the S-Type and the X-Type. Tata-owned Jag gave us the XF, F-type. For too long, Ford were intent on hemming Jaguar in to a pastiche of old English cars whose market was limited my Aston Martin and Volvo. I admit that under Ford ownership, Jaguar created some great cars and they would have died with Ford. The X300, X308, X100 and the AJ26/27/33 V8 engines were great but the S-Type and X-Type were flops. "It’s just been an Indian company trading under the Jaguar brand ever since. " - This is a blatent lie. I don't know if this brand relaunch was Jaguar's own doing or something instilled by Tata. I suspect the former though.
@ You appear to have a fundamental problem with compression with respect to the concept of ownership. If I own a shop which is operated on a daily basis by someone else, and they place an advert in the local newspaper using pictures of perverts, that nonsense reflects upon ME - the OWNER! However, an no small part because I’m obviously NOT the owner of Jaguar, I have the luxury of sitting back and watching the actual owner destroy their investment. Oh, and past ownership history is as utterly irrelevant as any claims of whatever good products you, or anyone else might regard as good. The simple facts are that once a company destroys its reputation in the way Tata/Jaguar just did (and others such as Target, Budweiser and Harley Davidson have done previously), there’s no way to ever redeem themselves, at least not in the eyes of a discerning buyer. In my previous life, I launched companies, and coined the phrase Corporate Image Construction. I also got involved with business turnarounds. Most businesses can survive most situations, EXCEPT fundamentally destroying their reputations. The only way Jaguar can be saved is by a well backed buyout in the firesale that Tata will almost certainly be forced to have.
Marketing department? No, this was approved by the board. You cant have a logo redesign, and new company image on global platforms without some senior twats at the top approving this.

A Jaguar is a fuel guzzling bank robbers motor, not an electric appliance, that should have died ten years ago.
As a petrolhead who has loved Jaguar since I was a wee lad, I give this opinion with a heavy heart. Jaguar actually died in 1969 when the Socialist Labour government forced Jaguar to be subsumed by BMC, and immediately halted the racing programe and any future developments. Ford did an amazing job of resurrecting the company during their tenure, but when Tata decided to end production of all I.C.E. cars and only build an expensive; p*ss poor milk float, I knew the absolute end had come. This woke crap is just the last kick in the teeth for Jaguar and its heritage and pedigree.
Check your dates. Jaguar ceased to be independent earlier than that, and the deal was inevitable as Lyons had left himself no options for body supply. It was nothing to do with Labour or their politics.

No - this isn't a mistake, it's part of the bigger political assault of Ideological Subversion. Sir William Lyons would be turning in his grave if he could see this. Jaguar survived the clutches of British Leyland Communism and came out fighting in the 80s and in the 90s to 00s made great cars under Ford and was finished off under Tata Motors and JLR.
Probably, but this is the modern "advertising" way. Jag has been purposefully absent from the market, and has had to resort to shock jock ad tactics to get us talking about them again. And, look, it's worked... The problem will be that if the cars aren't absolutely superb all we'll remember is this ad... I can't see that an electric Jag is going to be any good. The world has clearly got fed up of overpriced electric cars, just as Jag is launching something in that category (probably). There were quite a few years under Tata ownership when Jaguar really were great. Tata more than made back the acquisition cost from Ford within (if I recall correctly) 5 years. There was much comment at the time how Ford had screwed up selling up cheap only for Tata to make all the money. This may have been because some of the development started under Ford came to fruition. Let's not forget that Jag pioneered many key aspects of aluminium construction, perfecting constructing monocoques out of stamped Aluminium sheeting (rather than Audi's much heavier frame with panels draped over the top). Aluminium Jags are far lighter than other companies' Aluminium vehicles. Personally, I think Jag have fallen victim to their ambitions to be more "mass market", and screwed up. Had they remained "slightly exclusive", it'd have been far easier (they could have put more engineering in to avoid many of the reliability woes that have brought them low).
@@abarratt8869 There's an awful lot of sense in that. Most of the derisory comments are coming from people who love to slag the company off anyway and know little about them, their history or their plans. They have never owned one and never would, regardless of what they do. Few seem to understand that Range Rover are now more popular than ever, with record orders for the all electric version (which is well over £100k). As you say, Tata have done well with Jaguar, the F-Type is very highly acclaimed by those who know (and sadly underrated by everybody else), nobody makes a 2-seater sports car like it for the price, while the F-Pace has also done very well when everybody baulked at Jaguar making an SUV, and the i-Pace EV has also been well received. I own an XF, having previously had 2 BMWs and I wouldn't swap back. I also test drove Audi and Mercedes before I bought the Jaguar. The company admitted it was a mistake trying to chase BMW and appeal to the masses BUT it wouldn't have been had more people considered the Jag. I think some of the sales problems were not having as many dealers and BMW having a wider range with smaller cars like the 1 Series, and revenue from the Mini series, but there are no real practical reasons to choose something like a 5 Series over an XF or a 3 Series over an XE in my opinion. They also suffer from a lot of sheep writing them off and claiming they're problematic - again most of whom have never even sat in a Jag - well ask Barrie Crompton on here and he'll tell you he has had far more problems with BMWs. Nobody in the market for a new £100k+ EV will care about the logo over the rest of the car. The only concern is if the EV market survives at all, because the way it's going the only way that will happen is if they're forced upon us, and that plan's not going well.
Their only job is to sell cars, why does EVERY company nowadays feel the need to shove politics into everything, especially when they're pandering to weirdos who won't even buy their shit

Correct.
100%. Jaguar ceased to exist when Tata bought them in 2008. It’s just been an Indian company trading under the Jaguar brand ever since. Misguided sentimentality over what has ceased to be is mawkish and retrograde mentality. Mourn the passing of the brand, celebrate what the marque USED to be if you must, but investing one’s emotions in such things ultimately serves no purpose
So, my opinion of this advert? I think it’s perfect. It speaks eloquently of everything Tata’s ambitions and what they stand for. At least they’re honest enough to admit it.

"Jaguar ceased to exist when Tata bought them in 2008. "
- This is utter rubbish.
- This is a blatent lie.

What normal person would ever buy a jag after this.
@abarratt8869
Excellent reply
Indians ruin everything. Stick to cows and rickshaws.
The only concern is if the EV market survives at all, because the way it's going the only way that will happen is if they're forced upon us, and that plan's not going well.

someone then replied to Jaguar, To go bankrupt? Got it
Expect "faguar" to be trending anytime soon
I got a text too from my brother, "you know how I was going to buy a Jaguar? I'm not. They idoits went and ruined it all." He has been waiting to buy one when he gets promoted and on the day he got promoted he saw the advert. He thought it was a prank but nop, it's real and he is livid. Absolutely livid.
What a revolting horrible sight
Jaguar was a gangster brand at one time.
Certainly the Kray gang chauffeur / stoppo loved Jags, especially the lower powered ones which gave him the control he needed, and without being too ostentatious which would have drawn unwelcome attention from the likes of woodentops.
@@warringtonminge4167
The Krays were another bunch of absolute wrong'uns and pervs
Always owned by publicans who were banned for drink/ driving but carried on anyway because the local plod used their pub for lock outs.
The Sweeny too.
@@scaryfakevirus DWD 606C for a start, in more ways than one😉
Jaguar's employees must be in a sublime existential crisis. Maybe this a genius ad and is targeting Starmer for special treatment.
It was a Black Rock ESG requirement to do this otherwise they cant get future investment. Look it up.
Spot on. Blackrock are pushing DEI and SDG via funding* and pressure, Larry Fink is a globalist as we know!
Yes, Blackrock shorts the hell out of the stock and makes hundreds of millions on the way down and again on it's partial rebound
TaTa must have Plot to destroy the brand, then fire sell it in bankruptcy to another subsidiary. Establishing a dealer network for INDIAN made vehicles.
Owned 4 jags and currently driving an F-type as my primary vehicle. The ad’s tag line should have just said “Don’t bother with us, buy a Porsche”
Porsche just released their own woke crap commercial.
@@grumpyweds443 You beat me to it!! Yes, we all know that the new 911 is driven through rural England by young, black gangsta's!!
They are all F 🚬 types going forward.
Contrast with the great Honda advert of 2005, a bloke rides, drives, and flies various Honda products while singing "The Impossible Dream" , it wasn't even pushing a new model, just celebrating its legacy with pride and humour. Jaguar meanwhile, 7 times Le Mans winners, choose to push the self destruct button. New logo looks like it belongs on the side of a fridge or washing machine too...
The crazy adverts won't kill Jaguar, the overpriced ev products they can't sell will.
But Faguar are totally convinced that EVs will be Top Dog by 2026. ( and Not the niche-market buy they are surely descending to.)
Even if they give away the EV`s for free most people will not take them because they are horrible impractical and useless for most people, specially in colder climate. EV`s is not cars, they are toys...
@@a64738 Small EVs can be useful as commuter grocery-getter cars. Of course, you need a real car in the household as well. (Especially for towing! EVs cannot tow without further diminishing their already poor range.)
Let's stop calling it DEI and call it DIE.
I own a classic Jag and this ad has almost made me want to sell it and forget I ever owned one. On the other hand, the Porsche ad for their latest car is absolutely spot on.
1:35 Hate to criticise Geoff but I think you accidentally uploaded a perfume advert instead of the new Jaguar one.
I thought it was a Benetton advert on acid😵💫🤣
i think your right there.....
How ironic that the adverts for Paco Rabanne's 1 Million and Lady Million features .... two E-type Jags in the closing shot
Geoff, these people aren't losing money - they are funded to push 'The Message' by Blackrock and Vanguard, and officially via the ESG fund that rewards box-ticking campaigns. These hugely successful companies haven't suddenly 'forgotten' how to sell their products, and this is not a sudden 'brain-fart' by Jaguar, whose global marketing team is massive AND massively successful - this is PAID-FOR PROPAGANDA, rewarded by huge investments for their compliance.
💯
ESG doesn't sell. Example: some retirement funds don't include any Bitcoin ETFs because of ESG. You can guess the stupid reasons why. And yet, the biggest fund managers have issued Bitcoin ETFs this year.
Yes, to get the Babylonian J-Walker's investment they must first crap in the mouths of the good people - we see it time and again.
Blackrock CEO said, on record, 'If they don't do what we want them to do, we'll make them.'
Precisely. CEOs are bribed by BlackRock to push this woke agenda. They destroy the company and the CEO walks away with millions
The ad is like a parody, possibly on Absolutely Fabulous. I've never seen a car advert that doesn't actually show a car. Beyond ridiculous.
The Labour party must have loaned Jaguar their marketing department.
Red Robos Ghost around?
Was just saying " it's a bud light moment" when you said it....
What a bag of... Dross that advert is...
Go woke go broke....
People have had enough of the crap.
I think Jaguar decided this strategy in year 2020 and then switched off. Now in late 2024 they woke up (pun intended) to a new reality.
Obviously their Marketing Team is taking the English colloquial meaning of the JLR parent company name “TATA” = Goodbye! very literally.
long live the XJR, XKR, F-Type, XJ220, E-TYPE, V8, V12, 4.2’s, Supercharged Jag’s We love you so much!!!!
maybe so...but now it's game over.
How the mighty has fallen.
What are jaguar thinking 😮it’s over
800 people were involved in the design and rebranding 🤣🤣🤡🤡Can I be the one that tells JagGUar(Tata) they've been mugged off big time please?
!!!!! JAGUARN'T !!!!!!
Jaguar executive meeting chairman: ok we’ve practically ensured the end of the brand by going fully electric. Anyone got any other ideas?
Marketing exec: Hold my beer.
marketing exec; hold my bud light! 🤮
Hold my soy milk
Hold my green vegan loop...
Hold my nut sack, oh, I had it removed never mind.
Their downfall began with deciding to go all electric. The ad was just the cherry on top.
