@@CarCoachReports hey, I could very well give the truck a 2 review, but that would be a lie. And, oddly, I was able to fold myself into the NEW 22 Frontier. Can't do that in a Ranger without modifications.
Had GM trucks for 30 plus years. I drove the Frontier and traded the next day. This is a fantastic truck, great ride, unbelievable comfortable front seat, and great looks.
Test drove and then went home with a 2022 S trim 48 hours ago. Immediately noticed that the steering - heavy or not - was not an issue. Rides and steers nicely. I feel like I'm in a luxury car, although bumps are felt, but it's overall smooth and always in the right gear, and steering is easy.
I purchased the SV model a week ago. I have Ranger as a work truck. Set aside the bells and whistles and I will say that I’m glad I went for the Frontier…much better ride and much improved insulation from road noise over previous frontier model.
This is one of the best reviews in detail I’ve seen by far, great job!!

I purchased a used 2022 Frontier SV just a week ago. So far, I love the truck. Rides great and seems to have plenty of power. May be taking a road trip next week, so I'll see how it performs on the highway.
Thanks to Ms. Fix's Presentation I bought a 2022 Frontier in Deep Blue I had 2017 Frontier. This truck is just a joy to drive.I just return for a 1600 miles trip and the Frontier performed beautifully on the trip. I would hesitate in recommending this truck.
An excellent presentation. I have one because my brother in law had one and he said it is an excellent pickup. So I rolled the dice with the 2022 SV 4X4. I hope it last, at least 16 years.
I bought one a week ago, went to one dealership and they weren’t offering any incentives, went to another, they gave me top dollar for my 2021 accord, and gave me $500 military discount and a $500 Nissan loyalty discount, i walked out spending $30k for my SV model with 6’ bed
That is really good! I recently went to a dealership and they were offering me SV models $37,000+. My sister has been a loan officer for 12 years and advised me that I can definitely find better offers. Nissan also does a recent college grad deal and I’m definitely going to mention the ‘conquest deal’ now. I really just want a SV 4x4 Deep Blue Pearl with a rear window short bed
@@edward6749 i went with a dark metallic grey S model, with technology package. I didn’t see that point in paying the extra $ for the sv, bc i put my own spray liner in, bought an inverter and put my own electrical connection in the bed and my own led lights, i got the S quad can shirt bed 4x4 for $28k after the positive equity came off my car, and i spent maybe $400 on all the things i mentioned above, next is wheels and tires.
Great full review ! BUT.....if you would include a a real time fuel economy test one at 75, and one mixed at 60mph I it would be a complete review. Often the trucks information screen is not accurate to the tank of fuel and with today's prices its become a predominant concern when purchasing
EXCELLENT REVIEW. I wanted to buy the pro -4, BUT .. . I LOVE THIS ONE !!!! I've owned 2 brand new XTERRA'S PRO -4, but they stopped selling them in the U.S, I wanted to get as close as I could and I think this is it, The Frontier. I like the short bed much better. Thank You for this wonderful review!!!!
I got my Pro X in March. I am loving this truck so much. Best buy ever for new vehicle purchase. I highly recommend this truck over all the other mid size trucks.
Great review Lauren, I just ordered one. When someone finds the perfect truck with all the missing items and little upgrades they wish it had for 38K, please let the viewers know.
Thx Car Coach you have made my decision easier when it comes time to trade in my 2016 Ford F150, I am definitely going to have the Nissan Frontier on the top of my list . 😊
Great review! I'd been waiting for this new Frontier, just didn't come quick enough for me, but so far I'm loving my Ram 1500. It's just much more truck than I need. If I can find a deal and get a beneficial trade-in value, I'd highly consider going for new Frontier in a minute. The initial impression I had on the styling wasn't overly positive, but it has quickly grown on me and somewhat reminds me a bit of the old Hardbody era trucks w/ its blockier shape and interior design -- quite clean and simple. I'd say it's one of the best styled trucks in its class, hands down. I've driven several previous generation Frontiers and loved the sound of the 4.0L VQ engines. They sounded like music as they wound up, and always seemed to want to rev more. They were also surprisingly torquey; and like noted by Lauren on the new version, have plenty to offer, even at speed. And let me say, when an engine sounds that good in a vehicle, why wouldn't you want to hear it. I do miss the lack of a manual transmission, too. I've have several manuals, 3 of the 4 Rangers I owned had stick, and it made driving them so much more enjoyable. I do have some experience with automobiles having worked at numerous dealerships covering several manufacturers, so I can say if this new version is anywhere near as reliable and bulletproof as the previous generation, it's money well spent. Additionally, when considering the purchase of a new vehicle, I often question if I should opt for an extended warranty w/ that vehicle -- trust me, even many of the service/parts employees have opted for them as the cost of replacement parts can become ridiculous -- but the Frontier was one vehicle I believed I could quite safely bypass the extended warranty on. I cannot say it is on the new generation yet, but I'd still feel it would be a safer vehicle to do so.
Thanks for your comment. I would add that if you put the monthly extended lease payment amount in a separate account you will see it makes more sense than 99% of the warranties. They have deductibles, some things are not covered and sometimes not factory new parts.
My Wife is almost 60 and she never complained about the heavy steering. I think it drives rather easily. Has a nice solid feel. 22.000 miles on her already in 1 year.
Really good review I like your channel! Personally for the money I'm buying the pro4x lol both are very nice trucks tho. But I already bought the Tacoma 2022 with a 6-speed manual so I'll be good for a while lol.
🔥 I have a 2022 Nissan frontier crew cab, 2 Wheel Dr. If you’re not carrying a load of any kind, you will find the chassis very stiff, especially with going over parking lot speed bumps. I wish they would’ve given it a bigger and better sound system with Moore Ispeakers. I put air horns on my truck. You can’t see them unless you know where to look and I put a toolbox in the bed with a complete air compressor system in a 2 1/2 gallon air tank. Over $2800 worth of air compressor system is in the toolbox. If you have a flat tire I can fill it real quick. I don’t feel the brake lights are very bright on this truck, so I added additional brake lights underneath the rear bumper that are extremely bright. They’re actually twice as bright as the factory tail lights. I do like giving people a heads up that I’m going to slow down or completely stop. That’s why I put the additional brake lights underneath of the rear bumper. I do like the fact that it has the 110 V AC receptacle in the bed of the truck and a switch that you can use on the left side of the dash to choose the amperage that you want 110 V system to activate that does work very well. I have 35,000 miles on it now I had to replace the battery under warranty and I had to replace the hood struts. They don’t last very long. I also modified my truck, so it’s extremely easy to change the oil. The filter that I had on my 2018 frontier is the same filter for this truck as far as changing the oil I’ve had mine about 14 months and I’ve acquired close to 35,000 miles on it may be a little more it’s a great truck at first I did not like it but now I wouldn’t trade it for a Toyota I would not trade it for a Dodge. I would not trade it for a Ford or Chevrolet of any size. Nissan did a good job the more I think about it I wish the springs on the rear axle or softer. 🔥🔥💰
Lauren, this is my favorite review so far. I love the rating system. I am driving a 2006 frontier Nismo and I want a new one. I want a Pro 4x loaded, but I have to decide on bed lengthiest so hard to sleep in the back of a 5’ bed. No 6 foot bed and no telescopic steering column is a bummer. The heavy steering is awesome and better for off road.
Lauren makes a lot of other RUclips truck reviewers look amateurish. She is technically savvy, to the point and doesn’t ramble on about insignificant details. Lauren does very focused reviews.
I’m really liking the new frontier. Ive been interested in the Maverick but Nissan looks like they have a great lease deal currently so for the features I want which this one has all included make it the same approximate payment as a Maverick with the same features. Plus more power, higher towing, satellite radio (which is only available on the Lariat Maverick). I currently have a Sentra, so would I be able to get the loyalty bonus ??
I just bought a 2023 Nissan Frontier SV crew cab 4x4 with a 6ft bed. It’s a great truck my biggest complaint is the turning radius other than that it’s a pretty good truck. I got it as a do everything truck, I drive it to work and when I’m not at work I can do dump runs or go to Home Depot/Lowe’s, or go and have a couple loads of mulch dumped in it to do some yard work and now I’m ready for winter to haul some pellets for the pellet stoves.
Another great Lauren review. however, the updated truck still uses the rear ,cheap/ antique/ leaf springs suspension. my Datsun truck back in the 70s used the same rear suspension. disappointed that they improved the engine and transmission, but not the suspension. :(
I come from a 2019 Nissan Frontier and the 2022 Nissan Frontier is a nice upgrade. Main thing I didn't like about my 2019 Nissan Frontier was that fugly steering wheel. I looked at the Toyota Tacoma, but I just hate the way they pull a trailer and the constant looking for gears with the transmission. Both are still good vehicles.
I’m currently looking to get a Frontier pro 4X. I have right now have a F-150 ego boost opps 🤪 eco boost. My first New truck I ever bought was a 2003 Frontier so really wanna go back to Nissan 😁
The best review is time. And I'm not ready to trade my 07 tacoma yet. I do like the new frontier a lot but we'll have to see what a couple years on the market says about it.
Test drove this and a ranger tremor. The tremor felt quicker and had a nicer interior (seats way more comfortable) I liked the Frontier but the cameras had the resolution of a 2004 digital camera and were unusable. Also some things like the grab handles on the pro 4-x felt cheap and wobbly.
I test drove one last year and hated the heavy steering and the infotainment system. They had me sold on the looks and i liked that it still had a V6 / simpler power plant (no turbo, but i think they could have done better with the interior / tech. That said, it is still a consideration
I love the new frontier. My best gas mileage was 28.4 mpg. That is car like fuel economy numbers. The new engine and transmission makes a big difference.
May I ask if there's a package option that allows you to have the LED headlights in the SV trim? I've only seen it with the midnight edition. I'm interested in purchasing one like the one you test drove with the long bed. Thank you for the video
There is an SV premium package that has LED's, leather, sunroof, etc. (Only on the short bed though, unfortunately for me, I'm interested in the 6' bed)
My brother bought this 2022 Frontier same one like in this video the blue color , he likes it over the other brands and likes the hydraulic steering the styling and V-6 engine wish it had 2 more cylinders a V-8 but it is good . I am going with him to pick it up Friday April 8, 2022 as of this comment.
Needs auto up down for the rest of the windows and get rid of the stadium seating for higher front seats and better visibility since we don't haul passengers very often . also need to add power to front passenger seat. that's all for now👍
I recently purchased same model pro4x luxury in boulder grey. I am worried about long term reliability of vq3.8dd engine. I have heard it is direct injection and not multi port fuel injection. I am worried about carbon buildup in cylinder heads and valves. I am thinking did I made the right decision and worried about the overall brand image of Nissan at the moment. few disappointments no lumbar support and no passenger side automatic seat adjustments. no wireless apple car play, no telescopic steering. few positives, great looks, comfortable seating, good fender sound, wireless charging, leather seats and sunroof. smooth 9 speed automatic transmission.
I am looking at one to buy. My current frontier blue book value is higher than when I bought it. With the Feds planning to raise interest rates to curb inflation I wonder if used car prices will start to come down. So now may be the best time to jump on a deal.
Question 🙋♂️ mrs car coach ….. looking to get this my business 👨💼 and personal use does this have 3 things 1. Zero gravity seats 💺?2. Can you get it with the Around view monitor? 3. Did Nissan show off any cargo cover or something? But anyway I like the look of the SV trim better then the Pro4X I am more of a street look then a off road look . What do you think about this and the idea of a parts truck and alternative to getting a cargo van
So the Ranger is a 4cyl turbo, gets better fuel economy, faster, has a higher tow rating, and payload. I have towed with the Ranger and it is adequate but I would prefer a v6 if towing alot. Frontier just seems kinda cheap in materials and cost cutting in other areas. My friends that have bought one do seem to like them alot. I of course own a 2020 Ranger and really like it, even after 22,000 miles no problems. For the price I'll stick with the Ranger for now.
If the SV was available with the LED headlights in 2022, it no longer is in 2024. Even used 2022 SV's don't have that option. To get the LED headlights you have to go up to the Pro-4X
Note, 0-60 in 7.3 seconds and the qtr mile in 15.6 at 90 mph. Source, Car and Driver test of the PRO4. The Chevy Colorado. 4x4 crew with it's LGX V6(308 HP/275 LB ft tq) went from 0-60 in 6.1 secs, with a qtr mile time of 14.8 @ 95 MPH.
I purchased this very truck, good not great but miles better than the Chevy. Traded in a Z71 Colorado (loaded) with near 20 K miles, couldn't keep it out of the repair shop. In 5 times for GM's crap 8 speed trans. The V-6 started to knock when starting at 15K with all mobile one synthetic oil w/ GM filters every 4K. No more GM
Why did they do away with the driverside handle? It was the first thing I looked at and needed when buying my 2012. I hate having to pull myself in by the steering wheel. Glad I got my 2012 paid for will be my last truck
I love nissans new frontier but I think the ranger is the best all around tbh and the ranger is the quickest truck in the midsize class and it's 7500 towing with gas engine the Colorado only beats it with a diesel and it has best in class payload. Every other truck beats the ranger interior!!
Those safety features are NOT standard. They are in the optional technology package for $990. Also, many features aren't available at all on the SV and even fewer features on the SV long bed. I've always loved the Frontier. I've owned 2 of the previous gen and I plan on buying this new one eventually as well, but the way Nissan structured the trim levels and option packages on this new model is downright infuriating. It almost makes me want to buy something else.
That's how I feel, coming off buy a 1989 hardbody and 1993 and the 2005 Frontier . I think 2019 might be the way to go. This summer I'm looking to buy if things get better with the biden inflation and the chip deal. So I'm on the fence with Nissan ,Ford Ranger and Gmc At4 . Any thoughts? I'd take back my 1993 Nissan Se V6, Man it was loaded 31inch tires. I'd buy a used one if I could find one!!! Brad.
Great review. I really wish a diff locker was available as an option on every model NOT just the Pro. The Pro red trim inside doesn't doesn't go well with the every color. TELESCOPE steering please, not everyone is 5ft 8. Also WHY the cream colored headliner on the S and SV?? They should be black across the ENTIRE line. Two tone black and off white inside just makes it look cheep. For these reasons alone I'm waiting for the new Ranger. Crappy turning radius, poor mileage for a DI engine, little thigh support in the back and too upright seating positions aside. There's too much to address and too few options available on this thing for it to be worth above $40k. Looks OK though.
If the locker was available in all trims fewer buyers would step up to the Pro. The different trims are set up the way they are in order to nudge you into a higher trim to get that one feature the lower trim doesn't have. The SV long bed is even missing a ton of features that are available on the SV short bed. It's infuriating but it's by design, of course, to get you to spend more.

Oh yeah, i wasn't impressed with the power either! Definitely doesn't feel like 308hp. My 2007 xterra felt alot faster/ better response.
I love the new frontier. My best gas mileage was 28.4 mpg. That is car like fuel economy numbers. The new engine and transmission makes a big difference.
How was that mpg possible?
can you take the rear headrests off for better visibility ?
Much better interior, ride comfort and noise levels than tacoma. Even the engine and transmission are more refined.
I prefer the feel of the hydraulic steering better than electronic. It feels more solid and less sensitive than electronic.
Superb review!
Needs auto up down for the rest of the windows and get rid of the stadium seating for higher front seats and better visibility since we don't haul passengers very often . also need to add power to front passenger seat. that's all for now👍
Nice review, do you come with the truck for that price?😆😆😆
Looks about size of 1st gen Titan. Much bigger than 2001 Frontier Crew Cab I had
Yup
Today’s midsizers are as big as full sizers in the 90’s.
I know its crazy!
I believe it does have driver lumbar, on the right side seat back section
Driver side does have lumbar
I am looking at one to buy. My current frontier blue book value is higher than when I bought it. With the Feds planning to raise interest rates to curb inflation I wonder if used car prices will start to come down. So now may be the best time to jump on a deal.
1:37 “V6 LITERS”? What exactly are v6 liters?
I’ve had mine since jan 4 2022 it’s a nice truck only thing I did not like was the muffler
I'm sold.😀
Question 🙋♂️ mrs car coach ….. looking to get this my business 👨💼 and personal use does this have 3 things 1. Zero gravity seats 💺?2. Can you get it with the Around view monitor? 3. Did Nissan show off any cargo cover or something? But anyway I like the look of the SV trim better then the Pro4X I am more of a street look then a off road look . What do you think about this and the idea of a parts truck and alternative to getting a cargo van
😊
1. this has the zero gravity seats.
2. The Around View Monitor is available on higher trim level
3. Yes there is a cargo cover
The SV is the better ride for the street. If you are off reading then go PRO4-X
@@CarCoachReports I wish Nissan had a SL trim with all of the things you could get on the sv or pro4x.
I agree
@@CarCoachReports Yeah I feel like some people might want the look and feel of the SV but want some things from the Pro4X so they buy that one.
I love mine and the power is awesome compared to the four-banger I traded in.
The frontier needs an adjustable steering wheel period. It would be nice to have side mirror blinkers .
Do you think Nissan will bring Telescopic to the steering in 2023 ?
Yes , i iwill buy one , look amazing
If the SV was available with the LED headlights in 2022, it no longer is in 2024. Even used 2022 SV's don't have that option. To get the LED headlights you have to go up to the Pro-4X
Good review, thank you. Nissan has improved this truck a lot, but I will stick with my Tacoma.
Nissan is well known for dependability and reliability.
Does Nissan offer any navigation on info center
Note, 0-60 in 7.3 seconds and the qtr mile in 15.6 at 90 mph. Source, Car and Driver test of the PRO4. The Chevy Colorado. 4x4 crew with it's LGX V6(308 HP/275 LB ft tq) went from 0-60 in 6.1 secs, with a qtr mile time of 14.8 @ 95 MPH.
got it. Thanks
Note, Nissan Frontier has a great reliability score. Colorado/Canyon does not.
@@simonpini5835 We have an 05 5 cylinder with 248000 original miles. So, whatever you might be reading? It's not all that true.
@@CarCoachReports I would mind owning this truck.
Much improved but hard to over-look the Honda Ridgeline.
I like the Ridgeline but would never buy one with the Variable Cylinder Managment feature on their V6 engine. Causes problems long term.
No more GM
Thanks for adding this in.
Is it a good truck?
Too bad the Pro4X trim is not available in a LWB. That is what I would want.
I agree that would make this truck even better
I bought one to replace my 2000 F-150 it had some nice tech but still feels like a truck that will last.
Will there be a video on the 22 Taco SR5 Sport ?
Yes as soon as I can get one
Why did they do away with the driverside handle? It was the first thing I looked at and needed when buying my 2012. I hate having to pull myself in by the steering wheel. Glad I got my 2012 paid for will be my last truck
I know you can get an aftermarket
I love nissans new frontier but I think the ranger is the best all around tbh and the ranger is the quickest truck in the midsize class and it's 7500 towing with gas engine the Colorado only beats it with a diesel and it has best in class payload. Every other truck beats the ranger interior!!
Last two new Frontiers I looked at and drove MSRP around 36K dealer wanted 50K for them.
Which mid size truck is your favorite?
GREAT FRONTIER.
any modern mid size truck with a wheezing 4 banger turbo is a TURD
I cringe at the 0-60 before the truck is broke in.
That's how I feel,coming off buy a 1989 hardbody and 1993 and the 2005 Frontier .
Brad.
@@brad4527 You lost me at "biden inflation" That kind of brainless partisanship is what's wrong with this country.
@@dlg5485 saying what's "wrong with this country", is what's wrong with this country!
@@mikekrause910 Come on. You can do better than that meaningless nonsense. Try harder!
Where is the roof rack?
No AC/Heating outlets in back
Yeah a major miss...
My 2022 has it
Waiting to buy when those extra charges are gone!
Did you say, $43,000??? . . .So then how much is the PRO -4???
Great car
Needs rear AC vents.
Agreed!
they have ducks under the driver and passenger seats, witch works great, they started that in 2005, my Frontier got like heat box in Winter!!
My 2022 does have rear a/c ducts
Can you get the pro4x with the long bed?
Thumbs up!!!
Thanks again!
@@CarCoachReports No, thank YOU.
The SV is to my liking. But the ProX 4x4 is better for me.
This woman knows how to review a vehicle.
I want the pro 4x it has more features
Doesn't have option of 6 ft bed.
Agreed
