    Thanks so much. This is a great tip that no one talks about. This literally fixes my toss problem that I've been trying to fix for years. I usually toss the ball when my weight shifts backward, and most of my tosses ended up behind me to the left. It takes some practice to get used to this new rhythm. But the end result is astounding.

    “Toss with your weight going forward” is a brilliant insight. Prevents toss falling behind your head ! Wow! Thanks a ton Nadim.

    This just confirms my suspicion that the more stable I am milliseconds before hitting the ball gives me more consistency, accuracy without sacrificing power. Thanks for the tip!

    Amazing help. When you toss afer loading the toss becomes very easy as well as cracking the ball. Tossing at any other time throws the whole serve off. This video makes the art of serving so much easier and consistent.

    Great tip! I’m one of those who tend to toss while still transferring my weight backwards. I’ll be trying this out in my next training!

    Very insightful and careful analysis of the importance of weight transfer and good balance during the serve. Well done. I especially liked the emphasis on leaning forward before beginning to move backwards. I teach ten and under kids, and I have them start like that, "looking over the cliff" I call it, and it really helps with the momentum and creating more effortless power.

    Great tip. Thank you. Could you also incorporate the thinking of, as you are going through the forward movement, how you incorporate hips and maximum knee bend to generate extra power?
    Thanks for your time

    Nadim, if you release the ball as you’re going forward this means you have to reload your back leg. If you don’t reload the back leg there’s no momentum going into the serve. By releasing the ball going forward ( equal weight on both feet ) you then have to double hitch to reload the back foot because you’re releasing the ball as you go forward. This doesn’t seem like a smooth motion; I have to double-clutch. Surely, I have to return the weight to my back foot to load up my serve because all my weight is headed back in the direction of my front foot. This means my toss has to be very high in order for me to return to the loading phase. I have a lower toss ( as you advise ). Releasing the ball with all my weigh headed back towards the front foot means I have to reload the back foot (again) the to get momentum going into contact. So, what you’re advising seems to add a hitch into my serve motion. Maybe I just misunderstood. My question: After I release the toss going with weight headed forward ( weight equal on both feet ) don’t I have to reload my back foot under the toss? From the video it doesn’t look like you do this. Please advise!

    • @peterrattenbury8608
      @peterrattenbury8608 Год назад

      I agree. It may not be correct, but I toss the ball with weight on the back foot so that when I go into loading phase more weight is on that foot.

    Lots of servers, even on the tour level, have suspect tosses.
    4:05. "if you toss the ball up and you can pick up either leg, you're balance is off." Many many pinpoint servers mess this up. You'll see it when they have a kind of double-bump flow in their serve. They actually extend their body up twice in the motion: once to toss, then they load, then they serve. Their tosses are all over the place.
    4:44. You're right, it happens all the time. Shapovolov has a terribly disjointed toss from the rest of his motion. It's actually not that uncommon. His toss is all over the place at the moment, and he's double faulting like crazy.

    This is nonsense. The weight should be on the back leg for a powerful serve as it is for a powerful throw. This is simple physics of which tennis instructors are completely ignorant. And another example of such ignorance with this video.

    • @gd3714
      @gd3714 Год назад

      Totally agree with you,, Rick Macci and Kovacs are right on that topic. No power if you start initiating drive to contact point of the front foot, and only purpose of the back foot is for rhythm as opposed to horizontal weight transfer, and vertical torso rotation,, agree - nonsense
