Low level crafting needs some love. I wanted to create an epic or legendary piece of gear around level 10-11 and it was going to cost me about 7 gold to craft unless I grinded out all the materials myself. I ultimately gave up on that because I realised I could just hit level 20 and just use green/blue gear which gave around the same stats as a legendary lv 10 piece if not more, but cost almost nothing.
After hitting 20 I revisited my crafting options only to find that some of the legendary components I gathered on my levelling journey were no longer useful as they were not needed in the lv 20 crafts.
I feels like the best option in the current state of the game is to just sell almost all materials on marketplace to build up a gold pile and then invest at max level.

LOL you think 7gold with let you craft a legendary gear? Who are these bots?

As of now you can’t craft high level gear which is best. You want level 10 because you can craft leg and enchant for better stats than 20.

this take is 100% spot on. Great job, keep up the great work! (I plan to GM Mining and Metal Processing)
I've spent HOURS grinding my mining to level 30... through the dead of night while most sleep. (Bard 19.75)
I know good places to hope to find copper and I have (to a very limited extent), but it is Severely limited.
Mayors with flying mounts fly across the land looking for copper and swoop down to mine and fly off.
My metal processing is now at level 8, and perhaps I have enough materials stored to get it to level 12.
but it is very difficult to process metal in stacks of 5,,10, JUMPS to 25, 50. when you have SOOO many levels of rarity.
then I can't just sell the metal frags because I need to use them to make Armor. (I plan to Master Armor smithing)
the gold sink of processing copper and zinc and turning them into useable materials to make armor is real.
my armor smithing is still level 1, and when I do finally begin to make armor, it will be useless and vendor food.
all to build my ranks in an attempt to one day craft something worthy of keeping, let alone sell to others.
I don't even remotely dream of a day when I will craft armor that I can sell for profit... that's crazy talk.

Making low level craftable items used to upgrade a node might help a lot. Making basic stuff a town will need would fit narrativly and as a means of making it worth the effort.

@@forloveofthepage2361 You also get tickets for turning in the requests which can be used to buy a couple pieces of gear like a cloak.
That being said, there needs to be more than just the upgrading of the node/builds for the low level materials. Otherwise, in the long term these will barely be touched outside of when a node is destroyed and a new one rebuilt. Which, long term will also render it hard for new players to join the game and feel like what they are doing is still relevant.
As mentioned in the video, the low level materials need to be incorporated into the higher tier crafting as well for the long term health of the game.

I stopped playing phase 2 because of this exact issue. I was under the impression the launch of phase 2 was to test nodes and professions. Clearly that will actually come later. I'm a profession main and after 100 of grinding I have come to the conclusion that early game professions have no place in the current build AoC. Once the systems are updated to make artisans viable, then I'll be back. Hopefully it is in a much better state before phase 3.

You've nailed most of the details of what's needed in crafting right now. And without crafting the rest of the game is done. The entire game was built around the idea of crafting being the central point for all other gameplay loops.
As a crafter/gather main, I do agree that at end game crafting will be BIS, however, if that's the only use for crafting outside node buildings/leveling, in the long run this will hurt the game. Because new players will not feel useful until end game, which means you won't get new players coming in years later, or even just months later possible.
I simply think having low level materials incorporated into higher tier crafting will help this and help the health of the game long term. Could go a step further by having crafting more useful at lower levels as well. I mean last phase level 10 gear if crafted to Lego was BIS, (too OP IMO), but when they nerfed it as hard as they did, it instantly made crafting nearly useless at this stage in development. Which means less testers for the crafting which I'm sure is NOT what they intended.
I'm also not too worried about it overall, as I'm confident that it'll be addressed and tuned to be much better for the finished product. I'm still enjoying myself even with mostly just gathering, processing, and caravans (despite them being bugged to shit... I learned to fly a caravan just the other day lol).

  • @henryhussey

Until we reach Journeyman in P2 crafting won't be needed or until the leveling after level cap gets higher and content gets so difficult it's worth to get crafted items . My legendary Apprentice Jewelry can be farmed just as easily in Carphin or another high level area. I'm lvl 20 miner and lvl 11 Jewel crafter, 17 Stone mason. Did the same in P1. The cost of processing and crafting a crafted item is less that what a person is willing to pay for some items which is unfortunate. Also, novice level crafting will always be a grind and a money sink imo. You can level to 10 in a few hours, why buy low level gear? I was able to get to 10 by running silly amounts of maps, i've started so many alts to run maps once my character got bugged.

To be honest, crafting felt pretty good before they did the rarity stat squish. Now it just feels like a waste of time unless you are min maxing later on. I'm aware the rarity scaling and how it effected stats was unintended, but if they had kept it and added PvP damage reduction and increased mob HP on higher end monsters it would have felt like a better solution in my opinion

Here is how crafting works in AoC:
    1. you only craft heroic or higher gear for yourself.
    2. you mass produce grey quality items and give them to your node for node progression quests.
    3. when level 50 is implemented you will be able to craft the best gear in the game, but since the current level cap is 25 you will be competing with low level drops.
remember that people like me dont craft, so at low levels getting good gear is necessary for every players experience. How you get that gear should be by doing what you enjoy. at endgame crafting BIS items will be your reward.

The cost in both resources and processing fees to level crafting skills up to apprentice and journeyman are crazy, take weapon smith as an example, you are going to have to make hundreds of novice weapons and both options suck, you either need a ton of cooper, the rarer of the two novice metals, and make copper weapons no one will buy at the price you need to keep your crafting up, or you make sanctus weapons which are better then copper but require sanctus emblems that don't drop super often and have to be farmed, likely you will end up having to buy them off players for an exaggerated price there by not making it a viable option either. Drop rates on all of these materials really need to be looked at. Would love to see a dev actually try to craft on a live server. They say they don't want mega guilds, but realistically, only those in mega guilds that are feeding a select few crafters are really going to profit. A small group is def not going to be able to compete at the level of cost and scarcity they currently have in the game.

I think people dont grasp correctly the crafting system, if you guys deep into lineage2 (where ashes get's most of their direction in some system).
Crafting on lineage2 was the greatest crafting system in my experience so far.

    • @dizzydwarf502
      @dizzydwarf502 17 дней назад

Yes, but this is not the same as crafting in L2. In L2 the very basic materials you got from mobs at level 1 was used in massive amounts at level 61+. In this, in it's current form, most of the first tier materials are either not use or barely used at tier 2 crafting.
These are still very different crafting systems, despite AoC getting most of it's concepts from L2 and Arch Age.
It's still got a long way to go, but I'm still having a ton of fun despite the bugs and the work still needing to be done!

Drops are way too common and way too high rarity for crafting to have a place at the moment. Only real use for crafting is for lategame BIS gear (hero/epic/lego 10+). They would need to nuke drops into the ground for low level/low rarity crafting to be anywhere near worth it. IE complete items drop rarely as grey-only from mobs, extremely rarely green from bosses.
