When you say "PvE" in this video you mean "single target", cuz for farming Abyssal Contracts (also part of the PvE) or whenever you need aoe dmg, Vicious Fury w/ the fire aoe dmg spec "Explosive Fury" is essential IMHO, not only because of its aoe damage but also for activating Javelin Inferno for even more aoe dmg. You can melt big mob groups in a few seconds.
Honestly, it's STILL worth using that combo against bosses. Just boost your attack speed with Da Vinci buff and Gale Rush and your Deathblow and Guillotine will go off faster than you believe and you can burn through Explosive Fury and Javelin Inferno crazy fast too. I use Javelin to deal skill damage while all my others are on cooldown. Each throw deals 1500 or so damage a throw.

Great video, I didn't realise the first skill hits 4 times instead of 2. I would say consider swapping Sentinel for Blood Devotion. The base dmg is much more substantial than heavy attack chance which people are more able to stack easily now with field general 2 piece being cheaper, 50 str etc, as Blood Devotion is base dmg. It also lasts longer (with a longer cd) so it''s easier to line up for team burst windows, and you can hold it to save a monkey ally going to get himself killed. Playing without davinci is too painful as a SNS/GS main too :D
davinci is actually not that critical once you get use to the spear rotation. spear passive gives 15% attack speed, and the skill on 12s cd gives 6 second insane attack speed buff. Attack speed is no longer the issue with this combo, but cd on the other hand...
There seems to be a problem with the questlog for the gear. The low level rune ones have higher damage for some reason? And the regular builds don't show the rune synergy's active. Thanks for the great guide, though!

Here's a detailed comparison using my exact build on Questlog: The Ultimate outrider build • Added Attack Speed: 39.4% • Dexterity: 60 • In-Game Attack Speed: 0.322s • Questlog Attack Speed: 0.27s Based on my calculations, the Questlog calculation is correct, whereas the in-game calculation seems flawed. if is for boss you can maximize dmg removing AoE dmg from Guillotine and Damage area Charge from willbreaker and use those points for Damage increased on Stunning blow and Charges damage for death blow, nice guide!
Im a bow wand main and just recently started pairing the wand with the spear 😅 it's a great combination if you wanna survive solo content but because of the support nature of the wand I slotted like 90% of the spear in 😂 my book is for fashion now x.x Sadly I couldn't really find a build that adds those two together
You missed a big aspect the passive that gives you 600 crit after a rapid spear ability so you could feed the following ability this also is applied through violent brawl this coming from a top gate runner as well, love your videos though dude, that passive is significant, only ability you don't care about that bonus crit for is the spear stun cause there is a built in crit effect which should go to guilitine Hey new update i just want to say i went and tried your build verse mine and you beat me by 10 secs on statue in stonegrad thanks ! tech works confirmed!

Hey, I have a question. Is there a specific reason why you dont play Da Vinci? Are the 15% more attack speed a bit of an overkill for you there and you wanted more utility? I like your build a lot and changed it just a bit but the missing of Da Vinci left me curious. I do understand why you want Abyssal Cleave in your build but isnt the Skillcooldown a bit too long for a stun? Especially considering that you cant prolong the Shock Duration with Heavy Attacks like Stunning Blow. I wasnt sure about it myself thats why i wanted to ask ^^. My consideration was instead of Abyssal Cleave Da Vincis Courage and changing the Block to the GS to have another opportunity to apply Shock. Usually Tank has davinci and with 2-3 deadly maker in the Team he has a 100% uptime on it. Usually compleltly useless in the most dungeon groups as DPS. Shock duration is compleltly broken in this build and you want to have a near 100% on it -> abyssal cleave really good If timed well
when we need this man to update his pvp tank builds and even make sns/spear builds and explain to us why and how he disipears like avatar in his ice cube aaaah pls come back mister grobs
if u swap abyssal cleave for rising slash , u can use rising slash to do extra damage to mob who has the ignite debuff , i always swap when doing world boss
I think i will try spear + greatsword. But what i wanna try too would be spear + sword and shield. While i think that would not as effective as spear and greatsword, i like to tank :D . The only high synergie i see with sns is provoking roar and spectrum of agony and then stab the boss with the spear dozens of times.
Is the brutal fury skill bugged atm? Even with 5 burst stacks, I can’t reuse the skill. When I turn off the brutal fury specialization, I can recast vicious fury 2 more times w 5 burst stacks. Doesn’t work with brutal fury???
Just curious, the runes on the accessories; the bonus to performance to bosses is definitely note worthy but would it not make more sense to get the synergies so that you get bonuses for all content. I can see why bonuses against bosses is "optimal" but your sacrificing performance in all other aspects.
for PVP? of course there you need other runes but for all other content you dont even need runes in the first place :D so this is always the best choice

If you want an extra 100 hvy atk and 5% atk speed then use greatsword. If you want a slightly faster attack speed and more skill dmg boost (just like daggers vs greatsword), then use your spear. The passive weapon masteries only activate when you are holding that particular weapon, so just pick from your favorite weapon mastery passives. You can visibly see this by simply switching your weapon and viewing your attack speed stat, your crit damage in the case of daggers and bow, your skill damage boost, and your heavy attack chance. They will vary just by swapping :)
@@grobsXO Thanks for the video! I recently made two skill sets, 1 bosses and 1 for creeps, best desision i made, except when i forget to switch them after the last mini boss and have to wait for all my skills to cooldown.
spear/gs offers more to the party and better damage overall for longer fights, gs/staff will run into mana problems on long fights regardless of which version of the build you run making you have a long downtime using the mana skill to regain mana to keep doing dmg in some cases especially dimensional trials

this version of the build no but a different version of spear/gs can outscale any other dmg build in the game currently if played right mainly cuz it makes use of deadly mark better then other builds can
Ok at 534 you say cyclonic fury but you post the icon for phoenix barrage, neither of which have a tool tips that says anything about being boosted by hitting a shocked or stunned target. So I'm gonna need you to explain that one please
I was referring to the upgrade from Cyclonic Fury, which we will include in our build: Phoenix Barrage. However, the specific skill upgrade we choose doesn’t matter, as the correct skill specialization will grant us additional damage against stunned or shocked targets with this skill
Yes, Explosive fury and inferno javelin is needed for pve. I use sns so I can have the agony passive to do more damage with that. The first skill he uses is to boost the 2nd skill. He has more single target skills.
davinci + sentinel is best permanent attack speed/health boost and regen and 200 heavy attack buff for 10 seconds with maybe 2-3 seconds downtime if you have a good party, better to then replace abyssal cleave as it has no real value cuz you will have your rotation back together with stunning blow anyways and the cooldown on abyssal is insanely high compared to the rest of the skills and never lines up well
In this case, it doesn’t really matter too much. The game will automatically use the mastery from the respective weapon except for the small mastery points...those always come from your active weapon (yeah, super confusing, I know :D). Since I haven’t leveled my weapon yet, I’ve been running with the greatsword in my main hand, but even later, the difference won’t be that significant.
@@grobsXO i have GS 15 and Spear 10 and when I swap on the profile stats I get a bit more CDR, Atk spd and crit chance by using spear but 100 less melee heavy attack chance and 30ish skill dmg boost.
If you use a spell from your secondary weapon, it also swaps the weapon in the moemnt. At that moment, the major masteries of your secondary weapon are active. For example, if you have a spear as your main weapon, you have 100 less heavy attack chance. However, if you use a skill from the greatsword, it will also apply those 100 heavy attack chances because it uses the mastery from the greatsword. If you look at your stats in the character menu, you will always see the stats based on your main weapon, but if you use a skill from your secondary weapon, it will still apply the mastery page from your secondary weapon.
With the right gear and team comp? 100%. The build scales insanely well with meta groups full of bow players running Deadly Marker. Deadly Marker gives tons of crit chance and cooldown reduction on every hit, but GS/dagger players can’t abuse it nearly as much. Daggers already get so much crit from the weapon itself (basically wasted in a good setup), and they hit hard but not often, so they don’t really take advantage of the cooldown reduction either...
Tried ur build and i dont like that u have 2 3 sec gaps between the next skills being off cooldown, i think you are missing alot of dmg by having periods of juat autoatking. Im running a different build that requires mana pot and omlete active to stay 80% mana always but its way morw fluid and i dont have any downtime between skills
Switch the points from perception to wisdom its gives more base damage and cooldown speed perception is useless in pve when you Stack strength and dex i crit about 70% and get always the Max base damage as scaling point so
I really tried this one for boss and just doesn't work well like mine. I don't know why... DaVinci > Sentinel' Bastion > Precision Dash > Frost Cleaving > Willbreaker > Cylconic Fury > Stunning Blow > Guillotine > Flaming Arc > Death Blow > Explosive Fury > Javelin Inferno This worked better for me for some reason. I'll keep trying to improve with your rotation. Lmk what you think about mine if you want to test it.....
if it feels better for you go for it but this is a low damage rotation. you cant use javelin in PVE its way too low damage and most ignite skills in general are just lower damage when it comes to single target. For example explosive fury deals 2520% DMG against monsters and brutal fury deals 3780% DMG. Why? Because one is more for AOE and one is more for single target. Its look cool yes and thats it. Its not good in PVE.
Hi , im a tank SNS/GS and would like to invest in a dps build purely for pve purposes ( single target peace world boss ) , i have now Dagger mastery level 10 and Spear mastery almost level 10 , between Spear/GS and Dagger/GS which is better for what i want which is single target pve ty.
Grobs, did you test Malice Surge? 5% chance to get 100HA chance buff on taking skill damage, bosses and mobs do skill damage since the stat skill dmg resistance reduces the dmg
tested it and in pvp and mob farming it can be great but against bosses its genuinely not worth it, instead relitory strikes can add some crits here and there to boost your ignite stacks and dmg consitency instead because with gs/spear you have relatively low crit without
In PvE, burst damage is never the priority...it's all about constant DPS. I gave this skill a try but the damage output feels far too low to be effective.
You’re probably referring to the patch in Korea, right? That was just a tooltip fix. It originally said you could use Vicious Fury 3 more times if you had 5 burst stacks, but you can only use it 3 times total. They just updated the tooltip to match how it actually works. 😉no nerf is coming here ^^
you don't use javelin where are those stacks going? So much wasted damage. you also contradict yourself when you say why you should do ignite on cyclone, but burst on fury. 'single target damage is better in PVE' so confusing. I'll just stick to my build that I have that's doing some pretty crazy damage.
It's potentially 10 crits which means an ignition will happen, and if it doesn't you still get the passive effects, and using it with the burst stack damage boost as well makes it scale off of up to 14 stacks (15 would explode), as opposed to just 9 stacks (10th exploding). As for the javelin, you can only deal about 7500-10K damage with all 5 inferno javelins and it takes a while if your attack speed buffs aren't active by the time you get to them, assuming you've prioritized your heavy hitting GS moves and spear moves first. Great for clearing trash, but terrible for single target. The brand javelin only results in a miniscule skill damage boost which is the equivalent of crit dmg up for x seconds.

Dude, I literally cover this exact topic for 5 minutes in this video. Yes, you can’t stun bosses, BUT you can shock them. For skills like Stunning Blow and Abyssal Cleave, if you use them on a target that can’t be stunned (like a boss), they’ll still apply shock.If you play without shock in dungens you lose so much damage :S
side note, while stats are king for boosting your damage, a diverse allotment of stats is also good. if we're pushing for the most damage possible then: 1. you don't need as much dex because you get massive crit rate from spear passive which will be up for basically every skill because you hit so much 2. wisdom becomes a very good damage boosting stat because it hasnt been hit with the diminishing returns of boosting its stat yet. i do think there are stat diminishing returns because i have a similar build that isnt fully maxed out (accessories are still level 6 and 7) and i use shadow pants with field boots instead of the other way around. so i have less stats over all and yet i have 474 max damage, not to mention your world boss weapon build is 468 max damage and im using the budget duke gs and severing spear. just putting some stat points into wisdom im doing more damage overall. coming from rank 1 in both last week and this weeks secret dungeons. will be rank 1 for next week dungeon after work. for my server of course. my times were about 4-5 seconds off the xbow dagger heretics

Javelin Inferno on single target is literally useless. The guy stated it's a single target focused PvE build.

Because the spear can buff the heavy attack chance of the whole party its probably spear/gs

If you want an extra 100 hvy atk and 5% atk speed then use greatsword. If you want a slightly faster attack speed and more skill dmg boost (just like daggers vs greatsword), then use your spear. The passive weapon masteries only activate when you are holding that particular weapon, so just pick from your favorite weapon mastery passives. You can visibly see this by simply switching your weapon and viewing your attack speed stat, your crit damage in the case of daggers and bow, your skill damage boost, and your heavy attack chance. They will vary just by swapping :)
So this is preferabbly for huge single-target damage with GS and Spear, right? Awesome.
I would always go full AOE skill set in PVE, which means getting the Ember aspect for that Spear Throw AOE and that Rush Skill that Explodes 5x
its just really not good in Dungeons :S

So in your opinion which is better Staff Gs vs Spear Gs ? For pve
spear/gs offers more to the party and better damage overall for longer fights, gs/staff will run into mana problems on long fights regardless of which version of the build you run making you have a long downtime using the mana skill to regain mana to keep doing dmg in some cases especially dimensional trials

this version of the build no but a different version of spear/gs can outscale any other dmg build in the game currently if played right mainly cuz it makes use of deadly mark better then other builds can

Ok at 534 you say cyclonic fury but you post the icon for phoenix barrage, neither of which have a tool tips that says anything about being boosted by hitting a shocked or stunned target. So I'm gonna need you to explain that one please
I was referring to the upgrade from Cyclonic Fury, which we will include in our build: Phoenix Barrage. However, the specific skill upgrade we choose doesn’t matter, as the correct skill specialization will grant us additional damage against stunned or shocked targets with this skill
Except neither cyclonic fury nor the barrage state that they are granted bonus damage from a stunned or shocked target?

Yes, Explosive fury and inferno javelin is needed for pve. I use sns so I can have the agony passive to do more damage with that.
The first skill he uses is to boost the 2nd skill. He has more single target skills.
Why not davincii over sentinel or Willbreaker? Attack speed is huge for Spear and GS.
davinci + sentinel is best permanent attack speed/health boost and regen and 200 heavy attack buff for 10 seconds with maybe 2-3 seconds downtime if you have a good party, better to then replace abyssal cleave as it has no real value cuz you will have your rotation back together with stunning blow anyways and the cooldown on abyssal is insanely high compared to the rest of the skills and never lines up well
you're using gs as your main weapon? does it matter that much?
Mastery applies to the weapon only for rn. Any buffs to Crit or Heavy Attack chance from your GS mastery will only apply to your GS, not your spear.
In this case, it doesn’t really matter too much. The game will automatically use the mastery from the respective weapon except for the small mastery points...those always come from your active weapon (yeah, super confusing, I know :D). Since I haven’t leveled my weapon yet, I’ve been running with the greatsword in my main hand, but even later, the difference won’t be that significant.
@@grobsXO i have GS 15 and Spear 10 and when I swap on the profile stats I get a bit more CDR, Atk spd and crit chance by using spear but 100 less melee heavy attack chance and 30ish skill dmg boost.
If you use a spell from your secondary weapon, it also swaps the weapon in the moemnt. At that moment, the major masteries of your secondary weapon are active. For example, if you have a spear as your main weapon, you have 100 less heavy attack chance. However, if you use a skill from the greatsword, it will also apply those 100 heavy attack chances because it uses the mastery from the greatsword. If you look at your stats in the character menu, you will always see the stats based on your main weapon, but if you use a skill from your secondary weapon, it will still apply the mastery page from your secondary weapon.

With the right gear and team comp? 100%. The build scales insanely well with meta groups full of bow players running Deadly Marker. Deadly Marker gives tons of crit chance and cooldown reduction on every hit, but GS/dagger players can’t abuse it nearly as much. Daggers already get so much crit from the weapon itself (basically wasted in a good setup), and they hit hard but not often, so they don’t really take advantage of the cooldown reduction either...
They're both extremely good. Both also have super clean gate of infinity times
Tried ur build and i dont like that u have 2 3 sec gaps between the next skills being off cooldown, i think you are missing alot of dmg by having periods of juat autoatking. Im running a different build that requires mana pot and omlete active to stay 80% mana always but its way morw fluid and i dont have any downtime between skills
If u check out 0:11 u can see u have 3 whole seconds that u just autoattk
Switch the points from perception to wisdom its gives more base damage and cooldown speed perception is useless in pve when you Stack strength and dex i crit about 70% and get always the Max base damage as scaling point so

if it feels better for you go for it but this is a low damage rotation. you cant use javelin in PVE its way too low damage and most ignite skills in general are just lower damage when it comes to single target. For example explosive fury deals 2520% DMG against monsters and brutal fury deals 3780% DMG. Why? Because one is more for AOE and one is more for single target. Its look cool yes and thats it. Its not good in PVE.

Hi , im a tank SNS/GS and would like to invest in a dps build purely for pve purposes ( single target peace world boss ) , i have now Dagger mastery level 10 and Spear mastery almost level 10 , between Spear/GS and Dagger/GS which is better for what i want which is single target pve ty.

Grobs, did you test Malice Surge? 5% chance to get 100HA chance buff on taking skill damage, bosses and mobs do skill damage since the stat skill dmg resistance reduces the dmg
tested it and in pvp and mob farming it can be great but against bosses its genuinely not worth it, instead relitory strikes can add some crits here and there to boost your ignite stacks and dmg consitency instead because with gs/spear you have relatively low crit without

In PvE, burst damage is never the priority...it's all about constant DPS. I gave this skill a try but the damage output feels far too low to be effective.

You’re probably referring to the patch in Korea, right? That was just a tooltip fix. It originally said you could use Vicious Fury 3 more times if you had 5 burst stacks, but you can only use it 3 times total. They just updated the tooltip to match how it actually works. 😉no nerf is coming here ^^

you don't use javelin where are those stacks going? So much wasted damage. you also contradict yourself when you say why you should do ignite on cyclone, but burst on fury. 'single target damage is better in PVE' so confusing. I'll just stick to my build that I have that's doing some pretty crazy damage.
like javelin is probably the worst pve skill you can use lol
It's potentially 10 crits which means an ignition will happen, and if it doesn't you still get the passive effects, and using it with the burst stack damage boost as well makes it scale off of up to 14 stacks (15 would explode), as opposed to just 9 stacks (10th exploding). As for the javelin, you can only deal about 7500-10K damage with all 5 inferno javelins and it takes a while if your attack speed buffs aren't active by the time you get to them, assuming you've prioritized your heavy hitting GS moves and spear moves first. Great for clearing trash, but terrible for single target. The brand javelin only results in a miniscule skill damage boost which is the equivalent of crit dmg up for x seconds.

Dude, I literally cover this exact topic for 5 minutes in this video. Yes, you can’t stun bosses, BUT you can shock them. For skills like Stunning Blow and Abyssal Cleave, if you use them on a target that can’t be stunned (like a boss), they’ll still apply shock.If you play without shock in dungens you lose so much damage :S

side note, while stats are king for boosting your damage, a diverse allotment of stats is also good. if we're pushing for the most damage possible then:
1. you don't need as much dex because you get massive crit rate from spear passive which will be up for basically every skill because you hit so much
2. wisdom becomes a very good damage boosting stat because it hasnt been hit with the diminishing returns of boosting its stat yet.
i do think there are stat diminishing returns because i have a similar build that isnt fully maxed out (accessories are still level 6 and 7) and i use shadow pants with field boots instead of the other way around. so i have less stats over all and yet i have 474 max damage, not to mention your world boss weapon build is 468 max damage and im using the budget duke gs and severing spear. just putting some stat points into wisdom im doing more damage overall.
coming from rank 1 in both last week and this weeks secret dungeons. will be rank 1 for next week dungeon after work. for my server of course. my times were about 4-5 seconds off the xbow dagger heretics
