Even if I don't build one of these amps, its worth watching your video because I love your guitar style and your songs and or riffs. Great sounding and enjoyable to listen to.
I realize this is an old video but I built it from schematic at your website. It sounds great! The 500K ohm potentiometer is correct. I tried a 100K and it cut the volume to about 1/2. Very good video...
I built a couple of noisy crickets, incorporating the bass mods, and it didn't cost too much either. I may try building one with a valvecaster for a preamp, as soon as I figure out exactly how... lol. Nice video!
Cool just subbed hey looking for an amp like this but both ac/dc voltage outs with the speaker out like you already got plus run on a 9 volt battery would be awesome
Thank you sir. That is the madbean upper decker based on the wampler triple wreck. I have a build report and sound demo of this pedal on my channel if you want to see/hear more of it.
at 5:09 what is that thing with the buttons and knobs? (Only thing in the video I couldn't figure out! Driving my nutty!!) Sounds great with the Soul Bender, btw - can't wait to build one of these, maybe to splice into the speakers in my car... could open the hatch and play guitar with the car off using a 9v battery, right?!
Think of building one of this (already have all the parts) but I might include a Obliviator in front and in the same enclosure probably - madbean's circuit for Bajaman Sonic Stomp. Could be a interesting tone control for this.
You are saying, that it makes a loud sound, but do the components get hot, when you are playing? Because this would make a nice portable battery amp, but it should be efficent for that ^^
I don't see any answers to questions here, but maybe someone will have an idea... I'd have two things I'd want to do with this: 1. Add one or two effects to it--like, say, chorus, delay, or reverb. Would that be doable while still keeping the thing small? 2. I'd like to actually wire it into my guitar--route out a cavity for it, put it in as a headphone amp. (With controls for volume or gain, and whatever effects can be squeezed into it.) Is that possible?
The second one is possible, although I'd recommend having another output jack straight from the pickups, so if you decide to hook the guitar up to another amp you won't be using two amps at once.
Thanks buddy. I cant remember this video, it was a while ago but i believe its the upper decker (search my channel for a demo / info). Yep its a DIY project :)
Very nice! Just something that's not clear to me: this amp will work by plugging the guitar directly into it? Because usually, you need a preamp stage and then a power amp stage, but it seems like you're going in directly. Like when you're playing before turning on any of the pedals before it like the EQ or the Reverb.
Hey, bro, first off, thanks for the pointers. I wonder if you could tell me how to make a bass guitar amp. I'm clueless on electronics but I can put everything together if directed. Which components would I need for a bass guitar amp?
It doesn't sound remarkable despite how few components it has. It sounds remarkable BECAUSE of how few components it has! This is one of the 10 commandments of amplifier design. The fewer components between the source (guitar) and output (the speaker) the better. What you then hear is basically the true sound of the guitar and the speaker. Every guitar player should learn how different guitars sound without a load of crap between them and the output. Besides these aren't really guitar amps in the traditional sense. They are really just preamps with just enough power (maybe 1 watt) to drive a full size speaker but not to any significant level. They really are headphone amps. They can drive large speakers with a 9v battery but rapidly deplete the capacity of a small battery. But they are great if you want to plug in a good set of headphones and get great earful of clean guitar sound. Any guitar player who really wants to learn how different guitars sound would be amazed at how many different colors one can get from just the different pickup combinations and tone settings on say a Strat without any effects at all in the signal path. Without the other half of a traditional guitar amp (the power output or second stage) you're not going to drive a Marshall Stack with this but if you want to hear what cleanly amplified guitar really sounds like these things are a revelation. I've played guitar for forty years and recently built one of these $10 Radio Shack 386 op amp based puppies and it sounded so much like an original Black Face Twin that it was uncanny. And I should know because I had a friend who had a brand new Black Face Twin in the late sixties and the sound of that amp is etched in my brain. Also with a battery there is also no coloration from AC power supply components. Just pure clean sound.
How does a wah pedal sound through this amp? I built an amp with a LM386 and it sounded very good witha fuzz and had endless sustain but didn't sound good with a wah.
Hi Paul, DIY Pedals, Nice little amp. The TDA series of chips are a great choice for "Chip" amps. I may have mentioned before, but, John Audio Tech on RUclips is an excellent channel for chip amp construction and reviews, very knowledgeable. Also, I've have suggested building a Runoffgroove.com Ruby 1/2 watt guitar practice amp that works great and with the 1K gain pot, sounds like a lot more than 1/2 a watt. You can easily drive a 12" speaker and have seen up to 4, 12" speakers. I would use 12 volts for that, usually 9 volts, 8-ohm's and your golden. However, you can use 4 to 16 load impedance with the Ruby. The Ruby uses an LM386 audio op-amp and an MPF-102 J-FET, the MPF-102 I have found to be the best. Schematic at Runoffgroove.com or Google Images. Try one, they Rock. Take care, Cheer's, C.
Wow supprising how much drive that little thing has . Got burgled just before cristmas they took guitar and amp so I will have to have a go at making one thanks.
Hi Dean, huge delays with couriers and the mail system at the moment, im getting reports from customers of some very lengthy waiting times. Hoping yours arrives soon!
I have tried to get the mpf102 but couldn't find it anywhere. Someone suggested that i could use a 2n5484 instead, however the output sound has a background static. All the other ic/cap/resitor are similar to your schematic. Any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks Gerardo. Do you mean the Upper decker (white pedal with knobs)? That's a madbean pedals project. You have to be a forum member to see the project file, its under "madbean -> extra projects"
+-TheSpifire- Probably sounds like other songs but these are just chords I have discovered and enjoy playing. Melodic is my style, glad to hear you like them!
I have an old Marshall MG Cab with the original Celestion 12" 100W speaker. I wanna make something basic and straight forward like this. What chip would you suggest and will it power my cab?
now i have to learn scematics lol. probably knew more when i was little kid than i do now. smokey amps can be fun. i had two and the second one was much worse. the first one is in storage somewhere. it sounded so much better but can't compare to this at all. punch amp time!!!!!
Nice job buddy, Is there any advantage in the sound quality of this TDA over the TDA2003 that used in famous Anderton's practice amp? Since I was going to build a low watt practice amp, I'm wondering which one is the best choice: TDA2003 or TDA7052 or MOSFETs like IRF510,610,...Please share your opinions.

Even if I don't build one of these amps, its worth watching your video because I love your guitar style and your songs and or riffs. Great sounding and enjoyable to listen to.
could you do a vid on exactly how you built this? Definitely subbing.
Thank you very much for the compliment, nice of you to say so! I'm not in a band or record music though.
That triple wreck you made sounds crazy. Damn
Just love that Prismatic Reverb sound..
I realize this is an old video but I built it from schematic at your website. It sounds great! The 500K ohm potentiometer is correct. I tried a 100K and it cut the volume to about 1/2. Very good video...
Bro can you please give me the link to the schematic
WOW! That is impressive. It sounds amazing coming through that Fender. Good job. I'm subscribing.
I built a couple of noisy crickets, incorporating the bass mods, and it didn't cost too much either. I may try building one with a valvecaster for a preamp, as soon as I figure out exactly how... lol. Nice video!
Yeah i saw your post on the thread. I havent had any trouble with my tda. My punch is running at 9v's though.
Im building the beavis noisy cricket now. costs around 25$
I will check out this as well, it sounds good !
Hi! Great sound!
Please, it's not clear where the volume (or gain?) pot should be soldered.
Thanks!
That hum at the end though!! I was sold.
@thegreatjonzini many jaw has dropped on hearing the sound that comes out of that little tin
7:37
Great potential here with the right EQ
Nice tone with lots of punch
Dude that riff was Epic !
I'm a woodworker. I believe I'll be building some of these!
Zen ‘exactly the same’ is the answer.
Zen hmm. Honestly I have not seen shielding being used inside amps, so I don't know...
Cool just subbed hey looking for an amp like this but both ac/dc voltage outs with the speaker out like you already got plus run on a 9 volt battery would be awesome
If your powering large speakers something that adds treble might be needed (as in my case).
very informative, thanks man! also that entire riff section with the amp distortion simulation on was pretty badass \m/ cheers
What was that white pedal at the end?! Sounded KILLER.
Thank you sir. That is the madbean upper decker based on the wampler triple wreck. I have a build report and sound demo of this pedal on my channel if you want to see/hear more of it.
wow! have you also designed a more powerful amplifier? 50/70 watts?
Great one! You should make a video on building a talkbox! Really thinking on building one myself
aha i built this and my mum was yelling at me because it was like really late at night when i finished it and i started playing and it was loud
For every mom is too loud, even if you have headphones ;)
you might wanna consider the tube cricket. great little project
i loved the 7:30 to 8:16 part, it reminds me of a band but i can't put my finger on it.
Could you come out of the amplifier circuit and go into an effect circuit within the amp to create different " flavours " of amplifier ?
Awesome video and great playing. Really like the metal riffing you were doing towards the end!
+Ian F Thanks Ian, appreciate the feedback!
could this be used as an amp for a cab sim pedal using impulse responses? Say the Digitech Cabdryvr?
guitar input to punch amp to speaker
is it like this?
at 5:09 what is that thing with the buttons and knobs? (Only thing in the video I couldn't figure out! Driving my nutty!!)

Could be a interesting tone control for this.
hi! great video, and very nice playing :) Juste one thing, can i use it with my bass? or do you think it might me dangerous for the amp?
What is that pedal at 7:37? Says Amp Emulation Distortion, could you post a link to it?
You are saying, that it makes a loud sound, but do the components get hot, when you are playing? Because this would make a nice portable battery amp, but it should be efficent for that ^^
Just change the input and output cap values to something a bit higher so you will get more bass freq.
Nice tunes.. sounds awesome...
Nice job.
Hi, I am interested in the amp emulation distortion, but I couldn't find any video of it in your channel. Could you help me?
Hey I checked out www.diystompboxes.com and cant find the thread for the punch. Really want to check out the schematics that you used
hey m8 sounds pretty good...i'm rockin some $10 cheap pc speakers and there's nothing at all wrong w/ the sound. it's very good. good job -cheers
Any way of getting a point to point wiring diagram? I have trouble with the schematic and knowing the connections and parts.
Seeing as you're using the Fender Twin speakers, does that essentially make that tin a head? It sounds amazing!
Rowan Vincent Correct! The tin is the head and the speaker section of the fender twin combo is a "speaker box".
I don't see any answers to questions here, but maybe someone will have an idea...
I'd have two things I'd want to do with this:
1. Add one or two effects to it--like, say, chorus, delay, or reverb. Would that be doable while still keeping the thing small?

The second one is possible, although I'd recommend having another output jack straight from the pickups, so if you decide to hook the guitar up to another amp you won't be using two amps at once.
Where you exactly connect wires for guitar jack, it's my only problem
you certainly get a thumbs up from me.
one question: what is that amp emulator/ distortion you use? is it a diy project?
ok, that was 2 questions...
Thanks buddy. I cant remember this video, it was a while ago but i believe its the upper decker (search my channel for a demo / info). Yep its a DIY project :)
I followed the schematics how its shown but my Volume pot doesn't work. It just bypassed it . Any help?
Please ask your question on the forum. this is not my design. I've just built it.
Does the sound come from your monitors?
WOW at the 7:50 mark, what were you using to get the drive so fat?
guitarguts666 Hey mate, thanks for your comment! Its a Madbean upper decker based on the triple wreck, pretty wicked amp simulator.
Very nice! Just something that's not clear to me: this amp will work by plugging the guitar directly into it? Because usually, you need a preamp stage and then a power amp stage, but it seems like you're going in directly. Like when you're playing before turning on any of the pedals before it like the EQ or the Reverb.
Think I'll attemp to build one of these when I get more time...
I'm sure people have asked you this before, but do you record your own music? I notice I always come back to your vids just to hear you play.
could i add a transistor preamp infront of this? like a 2n3904 type preamp
What sort of adapter would I need for the bare copper power wires to female dc port? Feel free to share a link
I like this tune! Could i ask what you were playing?
Hey, bro, first off, thanks for the pointers. I wonder if you could tell me how to make a bass guitar amp. I'm clueless on electronics but I can put everything together if directed. Which components would I need for a bass guitar amp?
you have some smooth playing there mate. thanks for posting these videos. i have to try these.
Thank you sir! Have fun :)
which effects are you using at 2:00? :)
great vid btw! ;)
Rippn Vid Mate ! Been wanting to built something like this to play around with .
10" Eminence... do you think changing C1 will make a difference?
Would this amp be able to drive a reverb tank?
It doesn't sound remarkable despite how few components it has. It sounds remarkable BECAUSE of how few components it has! This is one of the 10 commandments of amplifier design. but how can I get a nice case and be able to colour it myself
I have done all the things according to your diagram...but nothing is working.. plz help me, am frustrated..
How does a wah pedal sound through this amp? I built an amp with a LM386 and it sounded very good witha fuzz and had endless sustain but didn't sound good with a wah.
Can I get a working link so I can buy this kit?
Link added to description
Holy hell, it still sounds better than a Marshall!
Cheers to you friend! Another great video!
Can you make a Bass amp in a similar way?
What's the orange OD you're using? Sounds nice.
Schematic please
I wasn't on a thread by chptunes. The thread on DIY stompboxes was by tca.
what is the song you were playing in the video?
How bout bass guitar amp?
What chord progression were you playing???
I dont get it, why put it in a can if youre using it with external speakers ?
Hello. I loved this video it was great!! What was the name of the song you first played?
tyler french Thank Tyler! Nothing special just riffing :D

Ordered the kit, waiting.....somewhat impatiently! There's not much to do these days.
Hi Dean, huge delays with couriers and the mail system at the moment, im getting reports from customers of some very lengthy waiting times. Hoping yours arrives soon!

what songs did you use in your examples?
how many watts can it power?
Oh God I love the tin-like tone of this boy when clean~
Quick question: Can I use 2x 4-ohm drivers and swap the IC to the TDA7052?
Mate nice project, but what is the song that you just played ? thanks in Advance
Thanks Carlos! Oh just messing around playing some of my fave chords :)
No man, thank you, cool project and nice reef ( I think that how its said) hehe
song name and artist are this riff from 2:34
Darude-sandstorm
Where can i find the amp emulation distortion? or how to build it. Great vid mate!
Thanks Gerardo. Do you mean the Upper decker (white pedal with knobs)? That's a madbean pedals project. You have to be a forum member to see the project file, its under "madbean -> extra projects"
thank you :) also i am having a hard time finding the schematic does anybody have the link or the schematic on hand?
That's really cool! Nice 👍
the TDA7052A is quite rare to find these days. I've tried a few ebay sellers but they were selling counterfeits. Do you know of any trusted sellers ?
can you tell me the capacitors model number.
hello, please can you tell me the chords you play 2:00 minutes
Darude-sandstorm
+tu vieja en zombie Sounds like Through the Glass chords from Stone Sour (not the real, but i looks a lot !)
+-TheSpifire- Probably sounds like other songs but these are just chords I have discovered and enjoy playing. Melodic is my style, glad to hear you like them!
I can't find the punch amp thread in the diystompbox site, it says not found. Anyone have a good link to the scamatic?
Link is in the comments

Can I connect the speaker output to a line-in port on my computer?
I wouldn't, I'm not an expert but it could damage your computer.
Yes you can, you wont blow up anything. You must fuck things pretty much impossible up before you'll blow up something.
