I did feel like Harding/Davrin's body going missing and their fate being uncertain was kind of an idea they may have had since they literally vanish into some weird blight pocket, out of our sight. It's like they say for movies as well "If you don't SEE someone die or their body afterwards, they're probably not dead." It's sad that we didn't get more clarity on that in the finished product. I also feel like it if it was a classic Bioware game we could have maybe had the option to choose to dive in after them and attempt to save them (or leave them to die to be more pragmatic), but alas, we may never know.

This is third time EA screws up Dragon Age. They crunched to hell Dragon Age II, they messed up with Inquisition which resulted in very boring MMO-lite/badly understood TES gameplay .. now they just screw up DA 4 even more by constant reboots, wasting time and money and not giving it back just telling BioWare to salvage two different builds of game ...

@@cracmar03ah I see the elephant in the room your one of the infamous origins fanboys. DA2 and Inquisition were great games you origins only glazers never stop. Inquisition while the writing was lower quality than origins did many things better than origins did. Origins maps were bown or grey not interesting and overall dull. Gameplay was atrocious, character animations were bad. Gameplay was very clunky and the AI got stuck alot and you had to switch over to them just to work properly. It's dialogue was it's only saving grace. Now Inquisition it was the 180 everything was great except some dialogue. They definitely could have done more but you have to take into account time and resources invested in improving all the areas that origins lacked. Wasn't exactly a fan of the war table but it's tied to the game so its at least presented in a positive way.

I don't understand why they kept Isabela if they wanted to change entire concept and remove everything regarded to pirates and ships. Making Isabela leader of "Treasure Hunters" and not Pirate Fleet Admiral is both slap in the face of Dragon Age 2 fans and political statement about "peace". Also removing every trace of Origins from lore and changing motivation of every villain is writing on level of Rise of Skywalker. 😂

    • @Coratlan

Regarding the “rewriting” i think its too early to say its a retcon. The executors have been hinted at in da2 and in inquisition and could be “pulling the strings” without Loghain or Meredith even being aware. We saw how Solas pulled strings without anyone knowing so its not that far out of reach. I think they shouldve hust said theyve been WATCHING the events unfold and giving a gentle nudge to their plans but its just a little to early to make speculations on that front.
As for Isabela, eh the jump from pirate captain to treasure hunter isnt that far of a reach.

However yeah I don't think Taash originaly was supposed to be non-binary. I am just not sure why they even went with this for her. @RockoEstalon well yes, it destroys the world as we know it Solas even says that there will be survivors just not as many as we would like them to be; and Solas being the one to put the veil up I think he knows what he talks about when he says the casualties but story wise, the veil being torn down, would’ve been a much better ending than keeping it up, which puts the elves of the entire world now worse conditions than they were before all this began so story wise the veil being torn down is a lot better than it staying up and you know the world just staying stagnant and never changing. It’s kind of boring unless they do something in the next game to like make the world change. The world of dragon age is pretty stagnant right now since the veil is still up and with Solas being gone ,and the ancient elves seemingly vanishing from the story all together there is no one to help sav modern of people out of their situation are now gone, and the elves of the DA universe are now at risk of getting hunted down or killed off. Cause let’s face it everyone from the rich and poor from across the country will be hunting and killing elves even if ppl in power say not too cause that’s how the DA world treats the elves before but now it’ll get worse. At least if the veil got torn down the surviving elves would’ve been able to at least life safe lives away from legit SA, murder, elf hunts, slavery ect

Harding, imho, is absolutely alive if you sacrifice her. When she first touches the dagger, gets her powers, and is blasted off the cliff, she rises up from where she fell talking like a Titan Avatar. This sort of thing happened as well (and sets a precedence) to Valta, and from dragon age wiki..."Three pages from Valta's personal journal are subsequently found in Skyhold, although how they got there remains a mystery. She writes that upon being struck down she "fell into a warm light's embrace", as if returning to the Stone. Now the blood of the titan flows through her,..." and then in Veilguard we encounter Valta as an avatar in the giant statue. I believe Harding has had a similar experience rather than death.

Joplin sounds amazing in concept. The caveat is that things do change during production due to things like space or hardware limitations.
"Joplin" would have initially been planned for the PS4. It also would likely have strove to "bigger" than Inquisition. Which means that there would have been a lot of open-world bloat and even more meaningless side content between those awesome moments. Again, some of which wouldn't have made the final game anyway.
It doesn't mean that I think Veilguard is the best they could have done. I just prefer to enjoy what we got instead of lamenting an ephemeral "might have been" game that still would have disappointed half the fan base. Because every game does that now, regardless of quality.

Rook is a bloody sidekick for all the companions and there's an argument to be made for Rook's utter irrelevance for the story, Qunari got dirked hard, new Titan lore makes literally no sense in pre-Veil world, Andrastian faith was completely sidelined and only brought back to be debunked, rules for magic and the Fade are all over the place and seemingly everyone can use it with no fear of possession. This cut content could explain the gaps and jumps in the writing and the overall weird narrative style but it can't excuse it.

4:18 that’s all Rook and Solas until the vhenan part. And I still say the devs took the easy way out and cut the post veil ending. They simply seem to lack any creativity when it comes to imagining a post veil state of the world, and went back to the status quo. All the characters are arrogant, even Solas, when it comes to what that would entail or look like (though Solas has a better idea since he lived in it). All races existed pre veil. No one is going to blow up because the veil came down. The demons would be an issue for sure, but so would mages suddenly reconnected to their magic and becoming more powerful. Not everyone is going into a fetal position after the veil falls. There would be plenty of suped up people defending their homes and cities. The characters in this game defaulting to whining about demons (which weren’t so much an issue pre veil) and thinking they know what will happen when the veil falls ( when they certainly do not) got on my mother-fing nerves.
No one truly knows what would’ve happened with the veil gone. There was no comparison because it’s unprecedented. It’s a bunch of fear mongering and crying about what if. Solas should’ve torn it down on principle to shut everyone up and have them all standing there, alive, reconnected to the fade and blinking with wide eyes at all the colors around them - and say see, you damn babies? Was it really as bad as you imagined it would be?

I mean there were issues with demons pre-Veil if you remember Solas memories. Where he used Spirits of Disruption, he comments to upset Velassan how he did NOT twisted these spirits against their nature, unlike Evanuris would. Twisting spirit against their nature .. aka demons. So we can safely assume Evanuris were fine and dandy making spirits into demons. Then we have some odd statement of Mythal's memory where she rants how Titans were monstrous.
Races existed pre-Veil but races were different then as well. Also I am not sure if Kossith existed pre-Veil. They were confirmed to be some sort of freak experiment by both Corypheus and Kieran.
My real issue is, while yeah Veil needs to stay intact - torn Veil means basically complete DA reboot, and you would get entire fanbase revolting, Solas nor Mythal ever explain what wonderous is about pre-Veil world. Like we could read in Trespasser and see in it, how some of ruins looked .. so we can imagine it, but why didn't Solas picture for us the image of pre-Veil world he envisions all the time ?
Yes companions should be against Veil. Bringing down the Veil will destroy many things and kill many people, them most likely inclueded. Basic survival demands them objecting. We should have instead encounter Solas agents or learn their fates to see mortals who willingly supported Solas vision of world.

What really pains me is not seeing normie gamers defending TV, but seeing Dragon Age fans like me defend it. If anyone should be upset, it’s us, and yet some “fans” will drop to any level to lick that corporate BioWare boot. We waited ten years for a new Dragon Age game, supporting BioWare along the way, and BioWare rewards us by squatting over our mouths and unleashing a deluge of feces down our throats. I think the vast majority of us are rightfully infuriated over such a thing or either still in shock to respond in any way, but then there are those who just lick their lips and ask for seconds. The only miracle is how BioWare still has any support.

Which is a retcon, because in the World of Thedas, published in 2013 when lead writer Gaider was still in the DA team it is explicity written in the Thedas timeline that the first contact between Tevinters and elfs occurred about 300 years after Darinius united the neronenian kingdoms to create the imperium (-1195> -800 something). They met the elfs when they expanded east into the Arlathan forest.
That's in a lore book predating Inquisition, Trespasser, Tevinter nights and the Weekes lead in general.
So I believe they did a little bit of a retcon here.
Edit: nope, sorry, I was wrong: it's in the second lore book (World of Thedas Vol.2, 2015), not listed in a timeline bar, but as the story of Thalasian the destroyer (an archon). The book says they met the elves, sent emissaries and none returned alive. They built a fortress near the border and in a few decades contacts became more frequent and more violent. In the summer of -998 tevinter settlements vanished, people cried out for war and in -981 the war starts.
So it's 2 centuries not 3. My bad.

Have you not played any other Dragon age game? LGTB was always present but canonized in a coherent way into the game. What made it jarring in DATV was the modern terminology and treatment of the theme in a clear medieval fantasy universe. But Dragon age has always been pro lgtb. You could romance Leilana as a woman, and Zevran blalantly tells you he has slept with both women AND men and finds no shame in it. And Origins was released in 2009 so they have beenm like this for quite a while. Nothing wrong to show love has no borders, just make it be consistent with the world.

LGBT stuff was always in DA but it didn’t rub your nose into it. The aggressive lecturing backfired and now I would prefer it all modded away. Every last trace.
