@Ravecat27 I agree with you and I would like the twins back, but they have already laid the foundations differently, I don't think they will dig again to restore the base of the tower to make it exactly like 1wtc :(
3 and 4 wtc are not mini skyscrapers...they're supertalls...literally both above 900 feet tall and 1 acre floor plates. 2 and 5 will follow the trend…that’s not a mini skyscraper…
I don't really understand why after 1WTC/FT was built, they prioritized every other WTC but #2. To me it seems clear 1 and 2 should have housed most businesses then the rest of the WTC's could have been built on a "by demand" basis.
I agree with this sentiment as well. But I think One WTC is owned by the Port Authority so they had to build it on speculation because ground zero had to be rebuilt. The rest of the buildings are privately owned by Larry Silverstein and each needed an anchor tenant depending on economic conditions. My guess is that most tenants opted for the shorter buildings once the designs were released, towers 3&4, because of the fear of a future terrorist attack. The WTC seems like a perpetual target of anti-American sentiment, with 1993 and 2001 being such examples.
The one with the diamond top? Or are we talking like the original tower design cause that is a huge no go by todays architecture standards plus the attack had exposed its major weaknesses.
I hate how they are cutting corners. The spire is a downgrade in the final design. 3 World Trade Center getting rid of the Pinnacles. I like the original design but prefer a twin Freedom with an outdoor observation deck instead.
There was footage of someone checking out the underground shopping mall of the World Trade Center and of the exits leads out of the unfinished 1st floor of the 2 wtc.
I think what they mean by "finished" is, things like subways or underground retail are all there so that there is that portion in service for connectivity waiting for the building on top.
As someone who goes to the WTC site often, from what I understand the basement levels of 2 wtc are probably used as maintenance levels for the rest of the site and the part of the first floor that is in operation *I think* just connects to the underground mall
At the risk of alienating myself from half of those who read this, that is one thing I can agree with him on if with nothing else, adding that the glass version of the Twin Towers looks so nice. He actually wanted to add a few additional floors (115 vs the original 110), but that fades into irrelevance if the occupants have no way of getting out safely in the event of another terrorist attack like the bombing of the parking garage in 1993 or 9/11 in 2001.
They should’ve made them more castle like, at least 2,001 feet high. Place a giant spire similar to the one atop the Empire State Building atop the north tower. But gothic instead of art deco, and they can place a giant eagle sculpture atop the south tower. With smaller spires at each corner, that would look great.
they should’ve just rebuilt the twin towers in glass behind the memorial pools that way it could’ve still been somewhat of the same layout as before and still have a memorial that’s just my opinion at least
I think the problem with 2 world trade center is that 1. There's no tenants to lease out the building. 2. The design would be dulled out because of 1 world trade center automatically. 3. I think the stump should be turned into a park or an entertainment complex filled with restaurants and retail stores or something just to liven up the place at night.
I'm sitting on a bench right next to the world trade center right now watching this video it's just a Subway entrance and an entrance into the station/mall. It looks like they already built the staircase underneath that would go into the skyscraper from the station like WTC 1 but it's obviously not built.
No matter what they would have done it was not ever going to make everyone happy. If it were up to me I would have kept the reflecting pools just as they are now on the original footprint. Then I would have erected two very similar, more modern, higher and safer Twin Towers shuffled over but with their same orientation, (North and South). I would have rebuilt another Marriott Hotel, added an underground museum and memorial, and since I like the design of the Freedom Tower I would have built that across the street as Three World Trade Center/Freedom Tower. Any other buildings would be comparatively smaller. I like the diamond design. I do like the step design but it needs to be less slanted and more like a spire without the guant block at it's base. An image of a building toppling over is not a good aesthetic for that area.
Im confused on why they aren’t building 6 WTC since it wouldn’t be the same without all of them, and besides, 6 WTC was more important than 4 or 5 WTC since it was the US customs house.
Much better than that hideous BIG (stacked leaning blocks) design! Would be probably one of the worlds ugliness building if built! This one is a BIG improvement.
THANK GOD they dumped that Lego pile! I have said from the beginning that grotesque look was hideous, brutal and would not age well. But at this time, whatever is built will not be occupied by one major corporation. Price Waterhouse Coopers will never be downtown again, but wealthy connected professionals will always want to be in the financial center. So that means apartments, condos, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Business is evolving into home office venues, so we must install stores, eating establishments, entertainment spaces and areas for indoor entertainment and physical exercise. It will be an entirely different downtown. But it must also include affordable housing for the people who service all the luxury business spaces. Integration, diversity of race and financial levels, and the joy of affordable homes and green spaces will bring new brilliance to a place that has left such sadness to us from 9/11. Let's not just build. Let's build UP!
Your video completely misses the problem that the already started basement of World Trade Center 2 causes. It was started with the assumption that a certain design of a sky scraper would be build above it, but when construction stopped and now they’re looking at different architectural designs, it might be necessary to completely tear out what’s already been started before a different design can be started, which would exorbitantly increase the costs, which is why construction is moving at the snail’s pace you say it is moving at.
3, 4 and 5 World Trade Center are not Mini Skyscrapes in Lower Manhattan, God Twin Towers destroyed on 9/11, 7 WTC kind a like being a mini skyscraper.
understandably one must consider what should be considering much of the cities in fact the nations future. These sorts of building go up without the intent on coming down so great planning must be in the works. They cant be singular task specific like building of old. Office buildings built for one purpose. And should that purpose stray then you end up with what we already see in the city, alota empty office building since the finical and incentives to remain in the city has plummeted. The pandemic gave business and industries just enough time and more than enough validity to reassess their assets, their foundations even a companies location. NewYork city, built as one of the nations original great cities. but today people want to enjoy their lives and not be situated someplace they hate, but only for the fact that their industry and thus place of work places in locations they'd rather not be. Even places that are great but have become to much of a financial loss. Youve labored long and hard to reach higher heights in live occupation and income only for the city to rob you blind for the sake of being their. people have had enough. and the pandemic provided that opportunity for change. Ironic that the very places they've decided to relocated are the very places they've long bashed on a regular frequent basis. places like Florida.
This new WTc 's so generic, there's no uniqueness... The shapes, the facades.... Everything 's boring.... The Freedom Tower 'n the Westfield Mall 'r the only good things in this new WTC
Just build the same as wtc 1 tower but without antenna…
I agree

For 6 WTC it can be PCNYC

I agree with u , sometimes the people behind these projects are slow
I really wish the original design was built. It looks so much better for the overall WTC site than the newer proposals

They could change the design based on the tenants needs so the new one isn’t the final design
Kinda resembles the idea of the original twin towers and we have them times two! Looks amazing.
I think its an ugly design, I like the stair step design best

Only if a major Investment Bank signs the lease will they build the diamond design because it's tailored to such an anchor tenant

There is a mall in the basement of 2WTC. It is all the shops on the North side of the Oculus. There is an Apple store and a Starbucks there.
This whole rebuild is an embarrassment. The Trade Towers should be back taller, a lot safer, and more modernized for us.
You basically quoted Donald Trump

4:03 If that ends up as the design, then they should name it "the stairs to heaven" Since it looks like a set of stairs that leads up to the sky.

Where is 6 World Trade Center?
It’s a shame, I personally liked the diamond design. That graffiti looks like a ghetto.
Either build the original diamond design or just make it a park. This limbo status is puzzling.
