The biggest slap to the face for Blizzard and other Ice type moves that can freeze is the fact that they all, currently, have only a 10% chance. Meanwhile, virtually every other status condition has moves that have higher effect rates. Even worse, the normal type move, Secret Power, has a 30% chance to have a special effect depending on the area, and in snowy and/or icy areas, that means freezing things. And better yet, Secret Power is affected by Serene Grace.' So, yeah, the best move to use for freezing Pokemon is a normal type move in the right areas.
@@forgerofsouls9126 it freezes cause it’s used in snow. It’s 30% because Secret Power is always 30%. I think it would be too much of a hassle to change it to 10% just for the snow area. Could they? Absolutely. But I wouldn’t expect them to. That, however, brings us the irony of a normal type move having a higher chance of freezing than any ice type move. But it makes sense cause, other than the technical reasons I mentioned, secret power uses the environment to the users advantage. Heck, it even uses Blizzard’s, the ultimate ice move, animation when attacking
@@pokemonftw3652 While that is true, that would not explain why Ice type moves would not get boosted by being in those regions. For, you could say that should also be the case, especially for an ice move's freezing chance. Already cold and freezing? Well, now you are getting hit in the face by more ice! This is basically why Blizzard's accuracy becomes 100% in Hail after all. But, yeah, you are still pointing out what I pointed out, that it is ironic that a normal type move has the better freeze chance. Cause, one thing I noticed about the move, is that it does not change it's damage type, just the effect and animation. So, despite using Blizzard's animation, it is still doing Normal type damage.

Uhm, counterpoint... Dinosaurs evolved into birds. Dinosaurs are reptiles, and birds are not. So for Aerodactyl to become Zubat is not as farfetched as one would think.
Why do people still believe that Typhlosion and the Cyndaquil line changed? Their 3D models have always been the same since gen 2. If you don't believe me, go back and play Pokémon Stadium 2. Even their animated sprites in HGSS show their flames coming in and out, which show that Typhlosion's flames are not permanent like Moltres or Rapidash. His flames always come out when he attacks or taunts.
Everyone knows that the Cyndaquil lines flames aren't permanent. I think it's because they look cooler and more battle ready if they're flames were out. Personally I don't mind Cyndaquil either way, but I like Quilava showing off his flaming mohawk and Typhlosion looks ready to kick ass with his neck flames.
@@Eerie_Buneary I get your point and I agree with you. I just don't understand why people complain about it so much. It's the same with the Cyndaquil line, only with flames. I can also well imagine that the blood used in the Old Amber resurrection of Aerodactyl came from an ancient Zubat that had fed on Aerodactyl's blood in those times. That's why the DNA of the two Pokémon combined in such a way that Aerodactyl resulted from it and has so many similarities.
Then there the biggest nerf of all. Glaceon got nerfed at the same time the most useful ice type move in competitive battling, Frost Breath, was introduced

Not only that, but her air speed got nerfed really hard, her run speed got buffed(doesn't change much tbh cuz tripping is an issue) and her grounded options which already sucked, sucks even more cuz in brawl, ground game is really bad due to the heavy nerfs on grounded movement, jigglypuff's sing no longer works, and the worst is how her only good option got banned. So jigglypuff got the biggest nerf in smash history. Kirby's nerfs are nothing compared to Jigg's
Pichu was nerfed really bad in Ultimate. Going from B rank to F rank and once again, ending up in the lowest tier.
Turtwing's evolution induced nerf in the anime really pained me, a child whose very first pokémon ever, was a Turtwing.
dobbs: typhlosion has no more flames, nobody likes him anymore
hisuian typhlosion: *coinflip*
There is a problem with the Aerodactyl Crobat thing. Logic. Aerodactyl is a Reptile, Zubat is a bat, and Bats arent reptiles.
Uhm, counterpoint... Dinosaurs evolved into birds. Dinosaurs are reptiles, and birds are not. So for Aerodactyl to become Zubat is not as farfetched as one would think.
@@Odinfrost But bats are mammals...
@@tedstrange4486 Yeah, but your argument was that a reptile could not become a non-reptile
@@Odinfrost and yours that dinossaurs evolved into birds. Thats untrue. They Just have more simmilar ancestors with birds then Krokodiles ae
Think about it this way; Blastoise's cannons are out in his sprites but we all know he pulls them out when he attacks and back in when he doesn't. It's the same with the Cyndaquil line, only with flames. I think people who haven't played any of the old school 3D Pokémon games such as Stadium 2, Colosseum, and XD: Gale of Darkness, have the misconception that Typhlosion is always on fire like Moltres or Rapidash.
@@ariceagaandros True, you do have a point. Maybe people complain about it a lot because without the flames Typhlosion looks too simple. Especially for a final evolution of a fire-type starter. I mean Blaziken doesn't have flames but he looks cool enough on his own. Typhlosion looks like an angry upright Quilava.
@@Eerie_Buneary I can't argue with that. Typhlosion sure looks naked without his flames coming out. 😅
you shoulda swapped jiggs with pichu honestly, pichu at the beginning of ultimate was omega broken and got the single handed biggest nerf list out of any character and still got nerfed even more thru her hitboxes multiple patches after
Whiling the biggest nerf of Ultimate's lifespan yes, Pichu was still usable in Ultimate before they reversed the recoil (it is never the same without that once broken f-tilt tho)
Jigglypuff (among many characters in vanilla Brawl) were fucking unusuable for one reason or another, if not multiple
and that (as well as the gameplay of said vanilla Brawl itself) is why Project M / + and it's variants (like Legacy and EX Remix) exist
In my school vr game goalius has a nerf where in the og campaign his behemoth blade is A instant kill on enemy’s with nanolaminated armour and behemoth shield was a unbreakable shield and in the reboot he got a major nerf first origins change where in og it was created when Goalius encountered the sword and shield legendary Pokémons and they upgraded goalius crucible weapons in the reboot they where created by reboot typhoon and second goalius behemoth blade can be knocked out of hand in goalius brutal assault cutscene where gets shot with a els round loses a arm by pikachu iron tail and then was kicked out of his hand by airtalon to use to completely disarm goalius and kidnapped him she been keeping goalius behemoth blade for a long time now and his behemoth shield is bad first off it shattered by the barbatos lupus Rex massive club thing and secondly it can’t protect you from shades banshee a automatic assault rifle that’s also a sniper and a scythe
But Chronologically, Legends: Arceus set in the ancient era. So typhlosion in other Pokemon games is actually the newest design.
YOOOO he's back with content boyysss
Then there the biggest nerf of all. Glaceon got nerfed at the same time the most useful ice type move in competitive battling, Frost Breath, was introduced
Dobbs the Goat is back!!
Came from the future. Pokemon Legends: Arceus brought back the Typhlosion's flames.
Though I do agree with Turtwig being on the list, I do think it has more to do with story progression than marketing though I guess it too had a lot to do with it as well.
My favorite of the Sinnoh starters was and always will be Turtwig! I love my Continent Tortoise!!
Dobbs is that like the real Dobbs of hybrid
Haze was another way to remove the frozen status. However, it was trash in Gen One so it was never used
Decent analysis & list video! Thanks for uploading!
And thanks to smear gel playing with dark void in vgc not only smeargle became unviable but also darkrai itself because in Ubers with this nerf it become completely unviable in gen 7 Ubers because of the dark void nerf from 80 percent accuracy to 50 percent accuracy is a huge blow to darkrais uber viability and that sucks because I was really looking forward to trying it and now I don’t get to try it it’s sad 😢
actually, ashes turtwig got bad cause when it evolved it got lots of weight
It's Dobbs, Here with another Acetastic Video.
Wow thats why i picked black 2
The reason that tangela got nerfed is because a gamefreak employee got swept by a tangela on the showdown ladder
Honestly they could have made torterra win. Like the rematch against pauls homchkrow in the lake acuity or his aggron in the league battle to show off his tankiness.
Bruh I hate that they nerfed Torterra because I just realized that it has never won against any of Paul's team considering that it is grass and ground type and it could have learned earthquake it would have freaking destroyed Paul's Gastrodon, Agron, Drapion, And heck even freaking Electevire. Sigh I am just upset about the fact that Torterra could have gotten all the glory but they just gave it to Infernape even though he already had a fire ace, Charizard.
The areodatyl zubat one i wouldn't call it a nerf look how plentyful they have become thats a win in evolution
Ayo he did not talk about how they nerf the games difficulty
A nerf in my opinion is mega sceptile because it went from 5 weaknesses to 6 weaknesses and one of them is a 4x weakness also it only gained one type I would say if they just made it a grass/rock type or a grass/steel type would've been better for him
Little surprised as Khangaskhan wasn't mentioned as it lost its mega going to Gen 8 and several nerfs going from Gen 6 to Gen 7
Pokemon Black was the kid trying to get an A, Pokemon White was the kid just trying to pass the class lmao
That zubat one was stupid it's just all speculation on your part and I have never heard anyone think that before
i thought psychic was weak to ghost type in the first gens. u needed it to defeat sabrina
I love the border of this video. I would love to make one with Kabutops, Shiby Crobat, Blaziken, Shiny Weavile, Golurk, Shiny Aegislash, Incineroar, and Shiny Obstagoon,
Crobat is actually very good in nuzlockes, its super fast hits hard and has a pretty good movepool
Yes! Finally a kinnie! Crobat is my fav poison type! It's so underrated!
@@MoodyBluesRequiem80 it is and it isnt, regularly its a strong mon that people dont use too often because zubat is just everywhere and annoying but in the nuzlocking community its used all the time for the reasons i mentioned prior and it being easily obtainable
Sandslash. They changed the mechanics behind the moves Slash and Fissure which made it a beast in gens 1 and 2, saddled it with two weather dependant abilities, almost never updated its movepool, then nerfed weather
The zubat and arrodactyal part was a massive stretch
I think one that wasn’t on this list was Trainer Red. In Gold and Silver he was unstoppable but in the Alola games he only had three Pokémon and they still haven’t evolved his Pikachu, which I think was needed.
I LOVE that 8 bit Mimikyu! 😍😁
Great video Dobbs. Keep up the great work. Love your videos and personality.
Top ten nerfs in pokemon except ima skip to number 1 number 1 hisuian forms
Every single nerf to Blizzard:
1. Freeze chance lowered to 10%
2. Accuracy lowered to 70%
3. Weather dependent accuracy checks
4. Steel-Type resistance added in GSC
5. Freeze status nerfed in general
6. Blockable by Wide Guard
7. Power lowered to 110 in Gen 6
The weather dependent accuracy check was a buff. Before then, Blizzard had no way to hit more accurately, so it was stuck at 70% the whole time(90% at Gen 1, but even then, 90% is less than 100%)
@@ThisIsntARUclipsr I consider it a nerf because other weathers are better than hail & in those weathers it’s accuracy drops to 50%.
I always somehow thought typhosion's flames only used when attacking or powering up lol
the biggest nerf of sleep from gen 1 to gen 2 was the fact that it took a turn to wake up. gen 2 foward you could attack the turn you woke up.
ABout sleep talk rest: did it reset the 2 turn assleep counter? i dont remember...
7:16
It was at that moment that I realized
The pokemon I'm the left are pokemon from each region and since Psyduck is advertised as his fav pokemon, I believe that these are his fav pokemon from every gen
Also this is the 151st comment
"Bug Types has gotten stronger"
*Shows Lurantis*
btw i think the aegeslash nerf was also quite big it went from uber too uu ( 10 stats in defence and s.defence + now kingsheild own reduces attck to -1 it did -2 )
Fun fact typloison in battle in the Pokémon games coming on 28 it we’ll always have it’s flames
Megamence with its aerilate spamming STAB + 30% Boost "Return" was pretty broken in ORAS All such type changing abilities including Sylveon & M Gardevoir's pixilate were hence nerfed to 20% boost in gen 7
Typhlosion can turn on its flame it is a choice
So what if typhlosion doesn't have it's neck constantly on fire? I believe that's better, could you imagine how hard would it be to have your pet constantly on fire? He still uses his neck fire when he attacks. So does the cyndaquill, even in the amine he only lights up when attacking. Is not a nerf, that's how it was supposed to be.
good point
True. The reason why his sprite had fire in the beginning is because they didn't have animations so that's the only way to show it off. It was never meant to be on fire all the time
I always thought typhosion's flames only used when attacking or powering up lol
One time I used a smeargle and a mewtwo in a double battle together just so I could get psystrike on my smeargle, it worked
Fun fact there’s one line in every Pokémon the magikarp line
Did Dobbs jump into the Helltaker universe?
FUNFACT: "Dark Void" is called "Schlummerort" in german which translates to "Slumber Place" ... so i guess this move was nerved by translation
Jigglypuff was being used more than Kirby. Sakuri had to put a stop to that 😂🤣
Tangela evolves into Tangrowth though. Is it still that bad?
Dobbs?? Bro didn’t you used to have like over 1 Million Subs? I saw your subs today and why is it under 1M?
I have been watching all of your videos from past 2-3 years i guess..!!
And you and that Lucario guy are my favourite Pokemon Channels ❤️
Loved to name my gen 1 execguttor Bernkastel
Blizzard: That was necessary in my opinion, since 30% freeze chance was very broken and unbalanced.
Typhlosion: This one is purely on an aesthetic level, so not really a nerf in my opinion.
Gale wings: Another nerf that was necessary.
Kind of feel bad for Turtwig, getting all those kind of development then getting wrecked later in the season.
No mention of Taurus?
It was the best Gen 1 Pokemon that doesn't have Mew in their name, and look at it now.
Ash should should have given Torterra rock polish to solve it's speed issue.
i find it stupid they nerfed dark void, because look what would happen it was used through metronome.
I get executor being on the list but tauros was nerfed more because in gen 1 it had 70 base special and used blizzard very effectively and was know as the best pokemon in the game other than mewtwo
Thankfully Hisuian Typhlosian will have flames.
Honorable mention: Luxray's entire lifespan.
Love the new line of Pokémon sprites
It produce extra-cold poop. Yeah cool
Hisuian Typhlosion got it's flames back
Twin needle wasnt nearly as bad as people say, yes it wasnt a good move in the slightest but if the first hit managed to get a crit, the 2nd one would match the damage of the first hit, essentially doing 2 crits if the first managed to crit. There's a reason it was a common jolteon move. Along with the 20% chance to poison, its gonna hurt if the rng is on your side
