Sejun Park used Pachirisu because it was a restricted Dex format and he didn't have access to things like the Clefable and Togekiss lines. Pachirisu was one of the very few Follow Me users in the format available then, along with Amoonguss. Pachirisu was picked because it has Volt Absorb, which is very helpful for Sejun's Mega Gyarados, as well as access to Super Fang giving it much better offensive presence compared to Amoonguss, along with Nuzzle for spreading Paralysis. It was a niche but pretty legit pick for the job it was supposed to do. It wasn't brought to VGC because it was someone's favorite Pokémon...
I think I remember hearing he used Pachirisu because people were prepared for Amooguss, but not it. It only did so well because it caught people off guard.
Yeah amoongus can't redirect grass types and is completely destroyed by safety goggles. Also, it has bad offense nd super fang let's you do dmg irrespective of attack stat which can be used to invest in bulk. That's how it survived a draco meteor lol
Pachirisu is also faster than amoonguss, has higher defense and special defense, and better typing defensively, since electric only has one weakness, while amoonguss has 4 weaknesses. The ability Volt Absorb at the time was better than regenerator at supporting the fellow team mates, since his most powerful team member was weak to electricity. Grass types aren't affected by rage powder, so pachirisu is better in every way
It was not volt absorb but lightning rod volt absorb cannot redirect moves it just absorbs the move which is thrown at the mon lightning rod can redirect it to the mon with the ability like for example if someone uses a thunder on gyarados in a double or triple battle lighting rod will redirect it and raise the SpAt by one stage
But it does seem like a good strategy and just haven't tried it online so yeah someone should test if using a level 100 baby Pokemon against not level 100 Pokemon it just sounds like a cool troll
For the Snivy vs Pikachu battle, you could argue that Pikachu lost because of what Zekrom did to it. By messing with Pikachu's electricity it messed up Pikachu's entire internal power fluctuation. Not only could Pikachu not use any of its electric type attacks, but it also couldn't get proper power built up for Quick Attack or Iron Tail to deal any meaningful damage.
Even if zekrom messed with Pikachu's electricity There is no excuse for Pikachu to get three shot by a level 5 starter when just took down a regice and a latios And the damage it dealt isn't the same thing as it getting hit
One of my other favorite RUclipsrs actually figured out the Ultra Necrozma strategy all on his own; he had a Zoroark on his team for his first Ultra Sun run and the fight was so much easier for him than the others that I watched play US/UM.
Never forget that Ash tried to murk Mewtwo in the first movie and Mewtwo felt he was so strong that he put up his barrier to prevent him from landing that punch.
Please do that video. I literally remember Ash dying and then just coming back. Through the power of love I guess Edit: Thank you all so much for the likes! I don't think I've ever gotten this amount before!
In the games, a mention could be made for Lv. 2 Weedle abusing Poison Sting to defeat Lance's Dragonite. Because of the how the AI works, Dragonite will always use Barrier and thus Weedle is immortal. In the TCG, a big broken card was Neo Genesis Slowking. When being localized, its Pokemon Power was changed to allow for an unlimited number of Slowkings to require coin flips to play Trainer cards. This basically meant battles came down to who had more Slowkings and got lucky (or unlucky) with coin flips to use Trainer cards. The card was banned almost immediately.
Wow Ash being a Pokémon in disguise would explain why he never ages, handles Charizard's fire, Pikachu's thunder, heavy Pokémon on his head, throw trees, jump high and fly. Yeah...it's believable he's a Pokémon in disguise
Funny enough, there are other sure-hit OHKO move setups you can still do on your own, though they're a bit more niche and not as automatic as Machamp would have theoretically been. Articuno has had Mind Reader and Sheer Cold in its level-up learn list ever since Gen 3, though the levels you get Sheer Cold at vary based on generation from 78 to 99, with Gen 7 and onwards being any level due to new Move Reminder mechanics. In the days of Gen 2, there existed a Poliwrath set that featured Mind Reader at Level 51, as well as the Fissure TM from Gen 1. A Poliwrath through Time Capsule would have been able to learn the TM in Gen 1, then move up to Gen 2 before Level 51 so that it learnt Mind Reader, and you could use it to funny effect in Stadium 2. As of RBY being on 3DS VC, you can now transfer up Fissure Wrath and make the set there instead. Lastly, there's actually a list of Pokemon that learn Role Play through the USUM tutor, that also have a OHKO move in their movepool. When paired with a No Guard teammate, this gives you the ability to use sure-hit OHKOes near freely. These are: Alolan Vulpix line, Snover line, Machop line, Pawniard line, Landorus, Mew, and Tauros.
I can confirm that Goldeen is indeed overpowered in Meleee! I swear I saw my opponent got knock out several times when I get a Goldeen. I’ve been wondering for years and now it make sense.
Happiny in the games is literally one of the worst Pokemon, tied with lowest attack with its evolved form Chansey and tied with second lowest special attack with Magikarp (and Darumaka). Yet the anime portrayed it as an pink destroyer who could smash anything in its path.
@@Venemofthe888 Good for you but for the majority of other people she was hell. Stupid attract, milk drink and rollout. And it’s stupid high defensive stats.

Probably because they always self destruct in caves tbh
About the Snivy vs Pikachu battle, it was stated and showed that Pikachu was weakened during the fight so idk if its applicable to place Snivy on the list
Another Pokemon could be Articuno which can learn mind reader and sheer cold. Mind Reader makes it to where your next move has 100% Accuracy and sheer cold can hit any type since it only some Pokemon have resistance against ice and no Pokemon are immune to ice.
#10 made me realize why you can't use any item to revert Pokemon from hidden ability to regular ones, I initially thought it could be done with the same item used to give it the hidden ability, but his turned out to not be the case, and that situation explained there was probably the reason.
For the snivy beating pikachu, pikachu was at a clear disadvantage as he lost all of his electricity which probably weakened him a great deal because of Zekrom and pikachu main moveset is his electric type moves. So snivy had a HUGE handicap in that match up, if pikachu was at full power, he would’ve destroyed that snivy in a heartbeat.
5:35 I did the same in Ultra Sun, put my Zoroark disguised as Ampharos, while rest of my team was owned by Necrozema in previous tries. 🤣 It owned him when i killed it with the single dark Z move.
About Machamp, it's never using it's full power actually. They always have a belt that restricts their strength to not be as dangerously strong. That belt may just look like a wrestler's prized possession, but in reality, Machamp and Machoke use it to limit their power.
That Snivy: That was when the rebooted the anime making Ash 10 years old again and just starting out with Pikachu and it was suffering from an encounter with Zekrom.
The biggest object I remember Happiny in the anime picking up, seemingly without a struggle was that like entire crater of solid ice that it just threw at one point, honestly one of my favorite running bits of the show tbh Oh fuck you actually mentioned it lmao
