I’ve been on Duloxetine now for 7 years. It has been a life saver, literally! It helped my therapy sink in, improved my mood, and allows me to feel normal. I hope to never get off of it. I’ve missed a dose before, the next day I always feel AWFUL until my next dose kicks in.

My husband was given Cymbalta for nerve pain after a surgery and chemo.
He had a few episodes where I would describe him as "not being himself". I'll leave it at that just to be nice about it.
Turns out his VA oncologist DID NOT titrate the medication and he just went straight to 20 mgs a day.
Listen to pharmacist people! Find yourself one that is eager to answer your questions and suggests questions to go back to your doctor with.
Thank you for this video 😊

Thank you for this informational video! I was recently prescribed Duloxetine for anxiety due to my job and took it for 2 days. It made me feel so weird/ out of it/ weak/ dizzy/ and ZERO appetite for 48 hours. I'm relatively fit and exercise regularly, so I knew I would not be able to continue with my exercise routine feeling like this. I was also incredibly TIRED/SLEEPY. The second dose literally made me sleep on and off the whole day. I'm on my 3rd day and have decided I'm not continuing with this drug. I'm still very tired today and I had a good 9 hours of sleep ON TOP OF sleeping on and off all day yesterday. I am also taking Bupropion, which I've been on for over a year, but my doctor thought I needed something more due to my responses to her wellness questionnaire. I will admit that I don't know how well Buproprian works, but I think it does help some. I'd rather just keep on with the Buproprian and manage my stress/ anxiety through exercise, getting quality sleep & drinking alcohol in moderation.

I agree with most people here saying thank you for this video. I’ve had many of these side effects that were so bad I had to go to the ER cuz my stomach started changing negatively and I always got a vasovagal response so I increased my fiber dramatically and that seemed to work but I never new when I would have that issue again and beg for ice. Lol
The dehydration is killer and it’s annoying as all hell also. I just don’t recommend ever taking this for depression. The sweating in my face is annoying. Also, It caused more problems for me cuz I’ve been on it for 6 years. My body won’t let me get off it due to withdrawal symptoms which would cause the vasovagal response all over again and fall over in pain, sweat and near pass clean out. Plus, I have high blood pressure. 😂 I tried to get off but doc said it doesn’t do under 30mgs and if I ever went cold turkey I feel chronic motion sickness, anxiety, and pain through out my body. I don’t feel the same at all.

Cymbalta is one of the hardest things I have ever quit. Quitting adderall wasn't as hard. The withdrawals are no joke. I'm not suicidal at all like some but the withdrawals from this stuff makes you feel like you're dying. You will get jitters, brain zaps, burning sensations, bad dry mouth, and facial paresthesia. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. Try something safe like Prozac or Lexapro. Even switching from this drug to Prozac gives you severe withdrawals. LIKE SERIOUSLY... DON'T TAKE CYMBALTA.

Either the OP's experience was an outlier or they are confusing this with the separate SNRI meds venlafaxine or desvenlafaxine (Effexor or Pristiq, respectively) which are known for their truly harsher withdrawals. My own anecdotal experience, having tried both duloxetine and (des)venlafaxine, is that the former is harder to get on than off (insomnia), whereas the latter did not seem affect me significantly and its therapeutic efficacy was (perhaps atypically) very underwhelming.

I know it may sound dumb but have you looked into alternative meds like CBD? It's hard stuff to look into because there's a lot of bullshit people trying to sell snake oil, but if you keep researching hard you may just find something interesting and people who aren't scammers. Every area has its medicinal plants growing in the wild, but very few people know how they work, and even fewer know how they interact. If you're in a big city look into chinese medicine shops. Just watch out if you're taking chemical medicine, as natural meds can still have bad interactions.
