Fantastic performance form the Polish quartet considering how far behind they were at one stage; just goes to show that time and time again sprinters go off too fast and then flag in the final strait, inexperience or should I say, experience ( talent) always prevails at the end. I guess because in the US we have so many people to select from its easy to throw together a 4x400m u23 team together to run sub 3:30 from a national pool but to throw a team together the same size as a over populated state it becomes more complicated with a smaller pool of athletes only states such as TX, FL, CA, VA, GA, MI, NY, NJ, MD, DEL, CO and a few others could I with confidence put team together to compete with the top 3 teams here or confidently say the time will be sub 3:30. Poland, the UK, France and a few others for having a smaller population to pick from you guys develop some amazing Athletes. India you have a huge untapped resource, if you were able to have get a better sample of the talent there would be amazing
You are 100% right, mate. 🙂 The U.S. has 330 million people to choose from. For comparison, the population of Poland is 9 times smaller. Even the black population of the USA is bigger than the whole population of Poland. But two Polish teams that won at the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2013 and in 2017 were able to run sub 3:30. So sometimes it is possible.

The British 3rd legg runner fall at the passing the baton might have been intention to cause the obstruction at the point where UK team was leading the race..
GBR should have been stripped of the medal cos of one of their athlete - Liverpool, falling down to slow the rest of the teams during baton handover. Kudos to the Polish Team for overcoming it.

oh fuck off. This is the U23, not the national teams. And the world record is bullshit anyway, the entire Soviet team was on a state administered PED program, just like the for record holders East Germany. All those times and records from the late 80s should be thrown out given the overwhelming evidence that has come to light about their doping. The best 400 meter runners in the world to this day barely break 50 seconds, the Marita Koch record of 47.60 is preposterous and obviously from doping.
