Great explanations, as usually, thank you Russel. The only thing that seems a bit complicated for me it to resize the video frame. I am applying your teaching tips for my French classes, and sharing your training videos with my teacher friends in other countries.

@@ttvRussell thanks so much will certainly do. I am setting up an open E-learning platform for institutions that can't manage to setup own LMS in Malawi (Africa) skeleton of the project system is on elearnmalawi.org So institutions will be registered as departments, etc I have figured out on the restrictions to ensure everyone has access to the right content for their institution and multiple institutions using same Moodle. it's going to work just fine I would have loved if each institution had a specialized cloud server but since am currently sole financing the project the best I can do is explore the shared aspect. Embarking on sourcing funds for trainings, your videos will help in the project if funding will be available after hands on training I would provide links to your videos for further tutorials.
Thanks Russel. Great video as usual. One quick question - how were you able to get the title of the topic (Flipped Classroom Unit 1) to vertically align with the image? I am unable to do that. In the video (3:52) you seemed to click somewhere, I didn't get that. What exactly did you have to do to vertically align the text?
Hi Sabyasachi Nag. It looks like I did a simple cut and paste'. I wanted to get the topic text 'flipped classroom' into a different place next to the image before going on to use the Moodle editing tool. Try again yourself. Russell.
Hello Russel, thank you for the great video! I was asked to help design the layout of a Moodle course for doctors but it's my first time using Moodle and for some reason my settings/controls are different to yours. I don't have the option to change the colour of the fonts and I'm struggling as I have such limited editing options, as far as I know it is just a regular Moodle account. Do you know why that could be?
I am really sorry, that seems very odd. There are different templates but normally the actually editing options are the same. I can't help you. It may be something to do with the text editor that is being used in your version of Moodle. Speak to the admin people.
Hi Russel, thanks again for a simple and effective explanation! I would like to set up my home page with all the different modules in my course, sort of like a blog, with large rectangles for each module that have the title and a background photo behind the title. Sort of like when you arrive at a blog home page, they often have a lovely large photo at the top of the page along with the website name. Is that possible in Moodle? Thanks in advance!
Sharon, I am not sure you can do that. You might need a certain template or you would have to be quite tricky and do a work around using images but you would need to go into the HTML. I am sorry, I can't help but I have never tried to do that, though you have got me thinking!!
@@ttvRussell Oh well, thanks for letting me know! I am not tech savvy at all, so if you say it would be tricky (or not possible) then I'll try a different design. Thanks for replying!!
@@ttvRussell Hi Russell, a couple of questions: 1) What theme are you using? 2) what plugin did you use to get the activities to list horizontally? Thanks
HI Russel - really appreciated your videos! I'm wondering which plugin you used to horizontally display the activities. I love the ability to save space but they still have the completion box acess!
I don't know of any. All I do is delete all the stuff in the side bar so that the main content is what shows on the page and it looks tidier. I am only using Moodle with the standard set up and I use one of the basic templates.
Hey. It was an informative tutorial but I have a query. In this tutorial, like you are manually adding images and course name as heading ,description and lot of stuff. But I have to repeat this thing again and again for every course. But I want that whenever i add a new course in moodle, it shows a same background image on the top for each course automatically so that i don't have to set image again and again for every course, and whenever i add activities in any course, it shows name and description of that activity automatically. How can i do that?
As I don't do many many courses I don't know the answer and it is a fair question. I think this depends on the template you use. For example at some places I work the templates they use for the Moodle courses take away a lot of my work, Speak to your admin people regarding using a template
Hello, I'm new to Moodle and your videos have been very helpful. I copied the embedded code and pasted it. The video shows in the edit screen but when I click save and look at the live screen, there is no video just a large blank space where the video would be. I'm using a Mac but I don't think that matters.
