    I keep my tetraodon schoutedeni with crystal shrimp, Amano shrimp, otocinclus, Pleco and a few other things in my 85g. He's so peaceful, only has eyes for ramshorn snails.

    • @BecauseYourFish
      @BecauseYourFish  3 года назад

      I’ve considered Bolivian rams before with my puffers but have never tried them but I will keep that in mind. That’s super interesting. I’ve only ever had a cory cat take a bite but both fish were going for bloodworms. Maybe ram fins look good to a Spotted Congo puffer. Thanks for the info!

      yh i was thinking the rams fins may resemble blood worms with there thin red lines, the ram was a easy target he didn’t even flinch

    I have a 150 gallon with a couple of Koi and 5 medium sized 3-4 inch goldfish and two common Plecos. I was thinking of adding a Spotted Congo Puffer after my pea puffer died of old age in a separate tank. Have you heard of someone having Koi and goldfish with them?

    • @BecauseYourFish
      @BecauseYourFish  2 года назад +2

      I haven’t heard of that. The puffers you would probably want to keep in the high 70s to low 80s in temp so maybe that’s an issue. Also the puffers tend to be timid and scare easily and that could also cause problems with goldfish and koi. Those are my thoughts and I am not a professional or anything so good luck in whatever you decide to do. Thanks for watching

    Hello i have a 300L or 3ft tank with to eels & 16 Tiger barb & a lot of Pleco & a Albino Bichir would this Puffer fish be ok with them in my tank?

    • @BecauseYourFish
      @BecauseYourFish  2 года назад

      Not sure if that would work. I’ve never kept eels. I like to keep these puffers with smaller community fish that don’t compete as much for food. Thanks

    • @RobertJeffers-ms6uz
      @RobertJeffers-ms6uz 10 месяцев назад

      That tank is way too small for the bichir. They grow quickly and reach 14-18 inches in length. They also try to eat everyone and everything eventually regardless of the other fish's size. They are great fish but true predators. I don't know why they are labeled as semi aggressive.

    • @RobertJeffers-ms6uz
      @RobertJeffers-ms6uz 10 месяцев назад

      @@kaptainkpop6750you're correct. They typically are only concerned with fighting amongst their same species during breeding time. At least with mumbas. Haps can be a different story and very by the fish. The great thing about cichlids is that adding aggression ultimately makes them all more peaceful

    • @BecauseYourFish
      @BecauseYourFish  3 года назад +1

      Hey, good question. I am not sure about that since I don’t have any experience with eels. I’m not sure how they’d get along. I prefer small community fish as tank mates because they don’t compete as much for food. I’m all for trying combinations of fish as long as I have a good backup plan but I’m not sure I would try that combination. Good luck on whatever you decide and thanks for stopping by! I have a spiny eel that I have no clue what it really is bc it wasn't a zig zag any way I was wondering the same thing. I know my eel likes to snuggle my loach and that snuggling behavior isn't good if the puffer has toxins. But I'm not sure if this species is toxic.

      I don’t have experience with Amazon puffers. I hear they want to be in larger groups but that doesn’t mean a pair wouldn’t work. You would maybe just need to try and have a back up plan in case it doesn’t work. Thanks

    Hey Seth do you have any problems with ypur SCPs getting cloudy eyes? My water is changed and filtered with an fx4 but my SCP still has a cloudy look to it's eye or eyes sometimes.

    • @BecauseYourFish
      @BecauseYourFish  3 года назад

      First, I am not a vet so I can really only give you my opinions and advice. So, I haven’t had any issues with cloudy eyes but I have heard of that happening. I notice that my SCPs eyes have a “hazy sheen” that I believe is normal.
      Is it just one eye that is the issue? Because if it’s an old injury than there might not be anything that you could do to fix it.
      Another suggestion would be a vitamin supplement, I like vitachem on freeze dried krill. I know vitamin deficiencies can cause eye issues, along with other issues. Puffers can be susceptible to deficiencies in the aquarium hobby because we usually limit their diet to snails and worms.
      Last suggestion is lighting, I prefer lower light settings and some floating plants with my puffers. I don’t have any evidence that harsh light would harm their eyes but they have huge eyes and no way to shut them.
      I hope there’s something useful there for you. Feel free to reach out if you need.

    Hi, I’ve just recently bought a male (I think) spotted Congo puffer and I’ve added him to the tank 5 days ago, he was in a small tank with 7 other spotted Congo puffers, he’s on his own with a few tetras and a few bottom dwelllers, but he’s in his own corner of the tank and doesn’t swim much, he doesn’t look like he is ill or has a disease, he eats whenever I add food he quickly attacks it but then retreats back into his corner, i was wondering what you think is making him do this? Maybe if I get a make for him? I don’t know, there are caves gaps for him to hide, tanks a 40 gallon at the monent, any thoughts?
