@@Sleeperdude You're bringing back memories of my family trips in the early 90's. We had a 86 Buick Century, with 4 of us in that car. My parents and my brother and I, plus a poodle (Benji yes after the movie) . So my dad had to buy a Sears clamshell to put on top of the car, so we could fit all of ours stuff. Did we go out to eat? Nope, Mom packed our lunches, though I think we did eat dinner out. Sleeper dude, my father watches you all the time he has demnita and he justs loves your show and I just want to thank you for putting your video's up. Giving my dad a chance to watch a great car show and family show.
I love the paper maps also. T. A. Truck stops have small atlas's . Get yourself a magnifying glass a yellow highlighter.i use paperclips to hold your page on the map book. Oh if you go to the truck driver side of the truck stop by the logs they have little flat rulers with milage scales, for calculating miles. I'm a Commercial driver,of 24 yrs . Hopefully those tips will help, save you time. Time is precious 👍. Thanks again guys. Enjoy that trip❤️👍👍.
My parents and papaw took my brother and me out west from WV in the early 90's for 18 days. We took a 1991 f-250 regular cab with a topper that had bucket seats out of a mustang bolted to a sheet of plywood in the bed of the truck and a small camper mattress for napping. We stayed in tents at KOA camp grounds most of the time. I was 11 or 12 yrs old at the time and I'll never forget the trip. Your kids will always remember this trip forever too. Great parenting done by you guys!!! Have fun!

We lived in Dallas Texas. Just about every weekend we loaded up the station wagon and drove 18 hours to my grandparents in Missouri. I remember stopping at rest areas and churches would be giving travelers coffee, water and bologna sandwiches and chips We would stop on the side of the road and mama would spread out a blanket for us to sit and eat bologna sandwiches and chips. Daddy would sometimes crawl in the backseat to take a power nap. Daddy and Mama would work all day Friday and come home to pack the station wagon and hit the road. My older brother and I would sit in the very back with the rear facing seat. I have so many wonderful memories of those trips. I’m praying for continued blessings on all of you. I am also a old west historian. We were in tombstone just a week ago. It’s awesome!!!! Oh gas in California was over 8 dollars
If you are going from Tombstone to the Grand Canyon, I hope you decide to go through Globe and Payson rather than through Tucson and Phoenix. Less traffic and a lot cooler. Plus tons of history and old buildings.
The First part of your tip is close to my heart. I grew up along the MS gulf coast, went to College in Mobile, AL, spent a lot of time in New Orleans and worked in a most of Texas. And that old 1972 Vista Cruiser reminded me of my time washing Oldsmobiles during my High School years of 1971-1973 for an Oldsmobile dealership where the owner chose a Vista Cruiser as his personal car. I am now disabled and retired and can no longer travel, so seeing these locations refreshed a lot of old but great memories. Thank you very much for putting together these videos and sharing your travels. Looking forward to the rest of your travels.
My parents had a 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 station wagon with the faux woodwall siding and we went on a two week trip through Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California when I was younger so this brings back a lot of memories for me 👍 They didn't have Dollar Generals back then but, my brother and I use to count VW Bugs on our trip..........Lol Love your recreation of your Great-Granpa's road trip and I'm looking forward to seeing the next video of your trip !!! Stay safe and watch out for those drunk drivers 😅
Well i watched the whole thing in one sitting and i am looking forward to the next installment. Thank you for allowing us to come along on your adventure. Be careful out there and have fun!
In 2012 my lady and I rode our bicycles from DC to NOLA, camping the whole way 2300 miles. Nola was still kinda wrecked from Katrina, We used dollar generals all the time! Thanks for sharing, great to see some of the same places we saw. What a great trip for your family!
Family vacations are personal especially tracking the routes and experiences of your ancestors. So thank you for sharing a very special trip with the public, us viewers. I have a lot of respect for you Josh sharing, filming and editing. God bless, L& R Grandfather John
You should have a running total of how many times Josh says “cool or “wow”😂. It’s great to see a family nowadays that can even go on a trip like this and have everyone get along as well as they do. Next trip you should head up north to New England. There is lots of history up here.
My mom and dad bought a 82 caprice wagon in blue back in 86. Loved that car. My sis and i would sit in the back. We'd put all the seats down and sleep on long trips. Fond Memories.
My Dad was a truck driver for 33 years so liked to drive. When I was growing up in the late 1950s to late 1960s we alternated every other year going from Central Illinois to Florida or California, with one year to Expo 67 in Montreal and did New England and the east coast that trip. My folks always had station wagons, mostly Fords, with a rear facing back seat. They would put that down for early morning starts and make a bed for my brother and me in the back and carry us, still sleeping, and put us to bed in the back. We would wake up later in the morning when we would stop for breakfast at HoJos, Smuckers, or some other restaurant. We always stayed at motels, probably chains, but don't remember which ones. We did Rte. 66 several times and saw all the sites along the way, got fresh peaches in Georgia, saw Indian ruins in the South West, the Grand Canyon, Ausable Chasm, the Petrified Forest, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Four Corners, St. Augustine and so much more, went through dust storms, hurricanes and more. Have quite a few home movies of those trips that I put on DVD. Great memories. On the negative side, I saw lots of car accidents and human drama as a child.
Can't wait to watch, I remember trips with my grandparents. Both smoking & they would only barely open the window a crack and then pulled over for coffee and cigarette breaks every 3 hours. And the only snack was life savers..LOL
Awesome video brought a tear to my eye remembering my family road trips back in the 70s . So glad your carrying those traditions forward. You have such a wonderful wonderful family. Enjoy the trip can't wait for the next video. 😊😊
Isn't it amazing how say the world is crowded but yet some many abandoned places which can house a lot of Homeless Veterans and citizens! OORAH Keep Moving forward!!!
I grew up a Military brat, and we went everywhere by car. In 1951 my parents had a 1950 Mercury, but soon traded up to A series of Ford station wagons. We went from Illinois to New Mexico, to Maine and the Alaska by 1955. We drove to Washington and flew MATS (military air transport). Whenever we were transferred my dad called igoing on vacation! He and I would rebuild the engines and off we would go. We ran Fords up to To 1965, and the changed to a Buick, out first V-8. I love to travel by car, truck or motorcycle. I have travel to every state in the union. Visited every National Park, and Monument and Battleground. Most recently I took one of my grandchildren (age 31) to revisit the Little Bighorn. You can now drive through it. But the best will always be Gettysburg. There is no more beautiful park than Bryce National Park. And lastly no greater natural treasure than Yellowstone! Law
Looks like Y'all are having a great time! We went to Biloxi about 7 months after Hurricane Katrina hit and most of what you see wasn't there. The building with the giant shark head was gone and before Katrina the building was on the ground not up in the air. Cruisin' the Coast will be the first week in October this year down there, that might be a great event for y'all to go to!
You missed the best part of Texas, west Texas. If you go thru on the way back stop in Amarillo and see the world famous Cadillac Ranch, and Palo Duro canyon, second largest canyon in the US. Y'all have fun!
Thanks for bringing back the matching family Hawaiian shirts for a road trip! And the roadside stops to eat lunch! How well I remember a vacation to St. Augustine. We were crossing the Bridge of Lions and my brother decided it was a good time to act like a lion and smart mouth THE lion of our home. My daddy saw no cars behind us so he stopped the wagon and told my brother to hop out. And he did! I wouldn't recommend it today but I'll never forget looking out that back wagon window at my brother as we drove away. All us girls started crying. And Mama said Daddy was going to go back and get him "but he had to learn not to talk back to his parents." We picked up a humble teenage boy that day on the Bridge of Lions and took him home. Looked like my brother.
Awesome video Josh can't wait for part two! I had a 75 AMC Hornet Sport about wagon and loved it! Thanks for sharing your vacation video with us, love it. I know the kid's will remember this trip for a long time!😊
Thanks for bringing us along on your nostalgic trip! Grampa and Gramma would be proud...and I'm sure they are smiling down watching the Sleepercrew reliving the family adventures in a station wagon! Safe travels and make sure the Vye-annas don't explode in the back!
I love the 2 claps and a Rick Flair whenever you cross a state line. That’s super awesome! My kids and I are gonna have to come up with something cool like that on our road trips!
Videoing and editing may be murder but man I love these long vidyas. That car is flat knocking down those miles. What a call. So proud of your choice on plan B. It looks like everyone is in a great mood after close to two thousand miles. God bless and as they used to say in the seventies " Keep on trucking".
My husband and I love New Orleans!!! Riding the trolley is cool but swamp tours are really cool too! We also did tours of the town to where they tell you all about the cemetery and past. Bourbon street is awesome but definitely not kid friendly at night. When my sister graduated from the Air Force (she was in Texas) we went to San Antonio and we did the River walk and the Alamo, the history there is amazing
Great video! So glad you're spending time together exploring our great country! You can pull a nice little travel trailer easy with a wagon, we do with our 57 Chevy. Stock brakes 4 speed and it handles it absolutely fine with 4 adults and all our luggage. Tent trailer is easier to pull, they don't have a high profile. Love our wagon, always have had at least 1 wagon in our family, they're perfect to travel in. Even the big wagons of the early 70's are way smaller than the huge trucks and SUVs everyone drives now.
Who would have thought watching 2 hours of someone’s home videos of their family vacation would be so enjoyable…? 😂
I knew... It always is. Cars are good, but trips in cars are even better. 😊

Just watching this. I'm from Texarkana Arkansas and have been to a lot of the same places in Biloxi, New Orleans and San Antonio. Love your videos and the family connections. Don't change a thing!!
It took a couple videos for me to get used to the editing style and I’ve gotta say it’s pretty much a staple for sleeper dudes and I absolutely love it
I’m so glad
Can't believe I watched nearly 2 hours of a stream. I must of enjoyed it.
Cheers from Australia.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy hump day sleeperdude fam! Love y’all ❤
Same to you!
Well Josh you did it.. My Wife and I are going on Vacation to Visit Her Brother in Moreno Valley California, we both have Jeeps (a Wrangler and a Renegade) ,She has me Looking for a Station wagon..Here we go..
Thank you so much for posting this my uncle Philip Larkin Merritt watches you everyday and he loves following you guys keep up the good work!!! 🙏💖🎉💻🎊🎉🎉🎉👌🙏💖🎉
Sleeper-dude, I can honestly say you and your incredible family are what America supposed to be.
Long live the wagon! Have all the fun, folks!
Exactly
Finding a wagon is as rare as trying to find a small 4 cylinder truck.
💯
If you are going from Tombstone to the Grand Canyon, I hope you decide to go through Globe and Payson rather than through Tucson and Phoenix. Less traffic and a lot cooler. Plus tons of history and old buildings.
Ok good tip thanks
That was awesome! What a great family! What a great trip!
Thanks for bringing us along!
Our pleasure!
Wow what a cool story. I’m glad you liked our video
Glad you enjoyed it! More coming soon
We traveled in a station-wagon across country in 1977. It was green is all I remember lol. ARE WE THERE YET? 😂
Exactly
Thank you so much for this.
What a fantastic trip, taken by a fantastic family, in the coolest car. Can't wait to see part 2!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Take the pics in Black and White aswell . Keep safe👍
Ralph looks like he got him a haircut for the trip!
Yeah we both did
In 2012 my lady and I rode our bicycles from DC to NOLA, camping the whole way 2300 miles. Nola was still kinda wrecked from Katrina, We used dollar generals all the time! Thanks for sharing, great to see some of the same places we saw. What a great trip for your family!
Oh wow! Very neat
Family vacations are personal especially tracking the routes and experiences of your ancestors.
So thank you for sharing a very special trip with the public, us viewers.
I have a lot of respect for you Josh sharing, filming and editing.
God bless, L& R
Grandfather John
Thank you so much i appreciate that
@@Sleeperdude You're welcome 😊
You should have a running total of how many times Josh says “cool or “wow”😂. It’s great to see a family nowadays that can even go on a trip like this and have everyone get along as well as they do. Next trip you should head up north to New England. There is lots of history up here.
That’s funny. I would like to do that
My mom and dad bought a 82 caprice wagon in blue back in 86.
Oh laws
My English not so good but very bad your grandmother used the crack
Awesome video brought a tear to my eye remembering my family road trips back in the 70s . So glad your carrying those traditions forward. You have such a wonderful wonderful family. Enjoy the trip can't wait for the next video. 😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it
As somone not living in the US, seeing you guys doing what i would love to do is so amazing. Thank you for doing what you do! Love from Norway
Thanks for watching!
Isn't it amazing how say the world is crowded but yet some many abandoned places which can house a lot of Homeless Veterans and citizens! OORAH Keep Moving forward!!!
I grew up a Military brat, and we went everywhere by car. In 1951 my parents had a 1950 Mercury, but soon traded up to
A series of Ford station wagons. We went from Illinois to New Mexico, to Maine and the Alaska by 1955. We drove to Washington and flew MATS (military air transport). Whenever we were transferred my dad called igoing on vacation! He and I would rebuild the engines and off we would go. We ran Fords up to To 1965, and the changed to a Buick, out first
V-8. I love to travel by car, truck or motorcycle. I have travel to every state in the union. Visited every National Park, and
Monument and Battleground.
Oh wow
Loved this video! Felt like I was right there along for the ride. :)
Thank you
I"m soooo excited for the next video! Didn't want this one to end!! lol
Love it . San Antonio was great. Thanks for bringing us along
Glad you enjoyed it!
You missed the best part of Texas, west Texas. If you go thru on the way back stop in Amarillo and see the world famous Cadillac Ranch, and Palo Duro canyon, second largest canyon in the US. Y'all have fun!
We had a 1967 ford wagon with a back facing rear seat. Loved riding in it. Good memories
That’s great
Wooo. Have a great trip, have fun reliving the Great-grand parents journey. 2x👍
Awesome thank you
Keep them coming sleepers love your videos mat uk
Thanks so much
Hope y’all liked it down here in San Antonio, the city still doing construction on roads but besides that it’s a good city
Loved it
@@SleeperdudeI was born and raised in San Antonio and never been inside the Alamo but the bridge yall point at i never know how old they are.
I know the kid's will remember this trip for a long time!😊
Thank you, I hope so
That's incredible I had no idea scooter was such an exceptional editor
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for bringing us along on your nostalgic trip!
Grampa and Gramma would be proud...and I'm sure they are smiling down watching the Sleepercrew reliving the family adventures in a station wagon!
Safe travels and make sure the Vye-annas don't explode in the back!
Thank you I hope so
Woohoo!!! Love the family video's, have a wonderful vacation!
Awesome
58:12 As someone who just moved into a new house less than 30 minutes away from Lafayette, Tennessee, I thank you for pointing this out!
No problem
I love the 2 claps and a Rick Flair whenever you cross a state line. That’s super awesome! My kids and I are gonna have to come up with something cool like that on our road trips!
Yes you should 🤣🤣
Videoing and editing may be murder but man I love these long vidyas. That car is flat knocking down those miles. What a call. So proud of your choice on plan B. It looks like everyone is in a great mood after close to two thousand miles. God bless and as they used to say in the seventies " Keep on trucking".
Thank you I appreciate that
What a beautiful tribute Sir
Thank you
Been looking forward to this video! I will be watchin it when I get in from work! Always a thumbs up for my TN neighbors!
Awesome! Thank you!
Ok good to know thank you
Great video!
Awesome thank you
