Yeah, i chalk that mostly up to him being a French invention in a British story. The French wanted their own guy in the story, and for him to be the best at everything, and the ultimate insult to injury was that they could have him cuckold the king.
I absolutely love these videos. I would love if you could do all the knights, but dont stop there. There are a lot of great stories that I would love to hear you tell.
I think the contrast between galahad and lancelot is interesting, lancelot sacrificed everything spiritual for his earthly love, his son sacrificed everything earthly (including his body) for his spiritual love.
Sir Lancelot: A Brave knight who crossed the channel after hearing stories about Arthur. Is renowned throughout Britain as the greatest and most skilled of the Knights of the Round Table. Is a man who become Guinevere's champion. He also has an unstoppable knight and a very relationship with his son, Galahad and his spouse, Elaine, due to the events that led to his conception (treating Gareth more like a son due to his strong friendship with Gawain).
is it just me or is the image of 2:39 is an image version oh lancelot from the game fate grand order which is the reason I'm here to learn more of his legend
Great video, You deserve more views. Im only not sure if its maybe only my screen but sometimes the pictures seem to vibrate a bit? maybe someone else can deny/confirm?
In the Lancelot-Grail Vulgate, The Lady of the Lake actually encouraged Queen Guinevere to consummate her love with Lancelot with a magic shield that was cracked between the picture of the knight and lady on it. After they made love, the crack disappeared. The Lady of the Lake also came to heal Lancelot of his first bout of madness, and she advised Queen Guinevere to love him above all others as he love her above all others Both Galehaut and Lady of the Lady were partly responsible for Lancelot and Guinevere's love affair another thing, in the Lancelot-Grail, there was no last meeting between Lancelot and Guinevere after the battle between Arthur and Mordred Queen Guinevere died before Lancelot was back in Britain to aid King Arthur Mordred's two sons were in control of Britain Lancelot and his men had a battle against Mordred's men and freed Britain from them Lionel was killed in the battle after losing Guinevere and Lionel, Lancelot was very sad and decided to spend the rest of his life as religious hermit and he ended up becoming a priest Hector and Bors joined Lancelot, and they joined him in the religious living shortly after Hector died, Lancelot died I have the 5 Volume English-translated Lancelot-Grail which includes the Vulgate and Post-Vulgate In the Post-Vulgate, Guinevere requested to a woman that her heart be cut out to give to Lancelot after she died, but the request wasn't carried out Like the Vulgate, her death happened before Lancelot was back in Britian to aid King Arthur Lancelot is my favorite character in Arthurian Legend. I really like the character from the courtly love perspective. I view him as the tragic courtly love hero. In the Vulgate, Lancelot did great deeds of arm that earned him the reputation as the best knight in the world all out of love for Queen Guinevere. His love for her inspired him to be a great knight. He helped King Arthur retain his kingdom from Galehaut and saved many of the knights of the Round Table driven by his love for Queen Guinevere. Lancelot considered himself Queen Guinevere's knight instead of King Arthur's knight for it was she that gave Lancelot his sword. Lancelot told her that whoever gave a knight his sword is who's knight he'll be. Lancelot's main flaw was his adulterous love affair with Queen Guinevere. Even though he was unfaithful to King Arthur, he was faithful to Queen Guinevere for he loved no other woman but her. After she died, he didn't want to be a knight any more.
I still like to believe that king Arthur was a roman general that when Rome fell he stayed in Britain and became king, and the rest is misty merky history lol
Can someone help me? It is said Sir Lancelot time period was the 14th century but King Arthur was late 5th to early 6th. Yet they were best friends. This doesn't compute to me lol
From what I know it really depends on what interpretation u read as Lancelot didn’t exist in the original legends so the dates are all different that’s why it’s so hard to pin point when either found them was born and what age they are as it always changes (I hope that makes sense I’m dyslexic sorry)
Playing a dnd 3.5 and d20 modern crossover game set in post apocalyptic Arthurian legend. Our elf bard kept calling my usmc lancelot. My usmc told her I'm not that homewrecker and I'm no knight. She learned how unknightly a usmc can be. We did find a wedding gift from lancelot to Arthur and Guinevere that is on the side burner.
Hi. I am Sir Lancelot as you call me, but Lance will do. I am not alive right now. I am on the astral. I can hear thoughts of everyone. Namely Elaine, who was my wife down but my lover for some time and yes we did have Galahad as our son - one or two years after. Then we had war or else I wouldn't have left her. Lady of the Lake down please, she has nothing to do with my upbringing other than placing me where I grew up for some time and then moved on. As a Knight, I fought hard. I didn't betray King Arthur. Unfortunately, those stories about Guinevere are true. I loved her, she loved me, but consummation never occurred. So, I rescued her as I should.
Just thought I should allow you to know Lancelot's side of the story, so that Guinevere; wherever she may be (God bless her soul); may be freed from the bondage to guilt that has been placed upon her for so long, for she is not worthy of the guilt that many chain her to. And so, suddenly (now), I shall have many enemies...but they are only enemies; they are not Truth.
Interesting comment, especially in phrasing, but Lancelot is used as a literary device to destroy Arthur's marriage, and then Camelot. It isn't until his introduction to the story, by the French, that Guinevere becomes adulterous. For hundreds of years, the story maintained that she was a good, just, and loyal wife and queen.
He betrayed Arthur by having an adulterous love affair with his wife, Guinevere. Lancelot is my favorite character. I like the character from the courtly love perspective. I view Lancelot as the tragic courtly love hero.
Sir Lancelot isone of those characters who gets a lot of love, despite being arguably the worst knight of the round table, possibly barring Mordred.
Yeah, i chalk that mostly up to him being a French invention in a British story. The French wanted their own guy in the story, and for him to be the best at everything, and the ultimate insult to injury was that they could have him cuckold the king.

First Knight ...great movie!!!
Right. I mean, i get why some people don't like it, but it was one of my favorite movies as a child.
@@ParryThis why do people dislike “First Night”. I love that film.
He's terribly sorry, he gets carried away!
Just as long as he doesn't let it happen again.
Very good video. I really enjoy these stories. I think I might like them more than any other series you do.
Glad you like them!
My favorite version of him is Lancelot in Night At The Museum 3 played by Dan Stevens which is also my introduction to the character of Lancelot.
Great video man🤘🏽 just stumbled onto this channel, glad I did
thanks for this video im learning this for class
Glad it was helpful!
The key issue I'm hearing from this story is that Guinevere was for the streets.
Did Lancelot originate in Celtic mythology, was he a continental invention, or did he really live as a famous knight and hero?
French literature in my opinion. They wanted to add their own person to the story, and make him the greatest of all of them, and make him French.
French invention by Chretien de Troyes
Lancelot was the first Mary Sue, at least in his first depiction
What a great story
I already said this but I do hope that your channel grows
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video:)Can you make a video about Morgause please?
I have her on my list, and plan to do a very thorough video about her.
Votan ?.. What would Votan have to do with in regards of this mythos ? 🤔 I'm extremely curious!

what was lancelot blessing is? pls explain?
I really enjoyed the word "shmagagle"

Both Galehaut and Lady of the Lady were partly responsible for Lancelot and Guinevere's love affair
another thing,
in the Lancelot-Grail, there was no last meeting between Lancelot and Guinevere after the battle between Arthur and Mordred
Queen Guinevere died before Lancelot was back in Britain to aid King Arthur
Mordred's two sons were in control of Britain
Lancelot and his men had a battle against Mordred's men and freed Britain from them
Lionel was killed in the battle
after losing Guinevere and Lionel, Lancelot was very sad and decided to spend the rest of his life as religious hermit and he ended up becoming a priest
Hector and Bors joined Lancelot, and they joined him in the religious living
shortly after Hector died, Lancelot died
I have the 5 Volume English-translated Lancelot-Grail which includes the Vulgate and Post-Vulgate
In the Post-Vulgate, Guinevere requested to a woman that her heart be cut out to give to Lancelot after she died, but the request wasn't carried out

That was a very well thought out and eloquent comment.

Ser Lancelot, the simp traitor
Can anyone tell me what was Sir Lancelot's sword called?
Was it Secace?
How is it pronounced?
The only named sword i am familiar with regarding Lancelot is from T.H. White's The Once and Future King, where he wields a sword named, Joyeaux.
@@ParryThis oh... I'm only aware of Secace and Arondight.
Funny story, I'm planning on naming my dog after one of his swords😂😅
This is the same sort of way how shadow did as well no real reason why shadow was being sir Lancelot ! In sonic in the blacknight
The sonic lore is pretty loose when it comes to how they interact with Arthurian lore.

Could Lancelot beat arthur in a sword fight?
If they ever make another King Arthur movie they should have the guy who plays Loki to be Lancelot
They already made a King Arthur movie and Sir Lancelot was a violent psycho who's favorite color is blue.

Lancelot had a years long affair with Queen Guinevere, the wife of King Arthur. That is the literal definition of betrayal.
