Michael Rosen Describes The Simpsons

- So, I guess Michael Rosen memes are back, probably not for very much longer. Also, these are all just my personal opinions, if you actually like season 23 for some reason, that's fine.
Damn, I had no idea so many people liked series 11.

Doesn’t look the great, hardly know the series though
I would give it an all right, maybe even a fine. The downhill had already started by then tho.

Season 19 was almost the last season. Personally I think it should've ended there because then the Simpsons would've been a show that ran for a long time, had some ups and downs, but ended on a high note.
edit: How is it that this one comment I made on a random video has more likes than all of my videos combined?
I don't think it would be good to end on 19 maybe 20
Holidays of Future Past was also going to be the finale due to the cast going on strike over pay and honestly that would've been a great ending as its one of, if not the best episode of the HD Era
Longer than spongebob 💀
Should have ended in the 90s which is when south park overtook as the best cartoon
it should have ended at the movie or holidays of future past
Something that really annoyed me as it declined was how Lisa went from her normal character actually smart and trying to be more mature than she really is to gradually just getting more and more annoying. You know it's bad when they make an entire episode on Lisa's mental issues after Marge calls her thick once because of medication she had to take making her fat.
The problem is that the original writers wrote the child characters based on their own childhoods and then wrote them based on their own children, so they felt realistic to a certain degree, but then the new writers just generalised all of the children under stereotypical gender-z kids.
@@OneFiction666 gender-z?!
@@OneFiction666 ah yes Gender z

@@Mortalfarmer No, absolutely not.
Once the YTP content flows again… it will be only moments before the new era of memes, The great Meme Renaissance
The season 13-18 Renaissance is still underrated. 9-12 with Mike Scully as lead writer was like the fall of Rome.
Nah season 14 onwards for me is when the show proper became stale and unfunny. Even if the plots are very mental and the quality had drastically fallen from the golden ages, Season 9-12 still makes me laugh and 13 was the only decent season since Jean returned for me
Season 9 is way better than anything after 12
What scully do🥺
18 is my favorite season after the first 10. They found a second wind around the time they were working on the movie.
It all started to derail when Scully took over as showrunner and drugged the writers by doing an episode where Homer buys a computer and ends up with the family drugged up on an island or subterranean elves.
I'll give Scully credit for doing behind the laughter as this episode carries the entirety of season 11
Season 9 and 10 is a roller coaster but still good
Season 33 I think is good despite having a good slice and a slice of meh episodes
Season 11 was good but I didn't like behind the laughter or any of those episodes where they do flashbacks or just get meta. Id rather normal episodes and season 30 was just terrible like all the new seasons
@@h.d.5194 He said 33 not 30, Season 33 was a big step up. And there's good episodes mixed in with the newer ones, you are blinded by nostalgia.
@@zs4580 you are delusional to think that there is a step up. You are desperately trying to defend a show which was once good but now hard to watch due to the characters seemingly like imposters of themselves and bad jokes. Also I am 18 and grew with the Simpsons so when I started watching it it was way past the golden years. So I fail to see how I am nostalgic. What it actually is is that I am able to differentiate funny and good writing from unfunny and bad writing. Also I think you are the one who is secretly nostalgic as you want to defend a show which is currently bad just because it was once good. The Simpsons is one of my favourite shows and because I am a fan I know when it is good and bad and the show is still bad
I like to write off “The Computer wore Menace Shoes” as a Non-Canon episode
@@PlushyAnimations why? I don't understand why you would want to do that. Just because the original commenter said it's bad doesn't mean it is. That was a good episode and as funny as the rest in that season so I don't see why you suddenly dislike it.
When your show spans over 30 seasons theres bound to be an end to creativity
Unless your South Park
I've hated a majority of the new seasons because it feels like sitting there watching your parent's argue on the brink of divorce every time Homer and Marge are on screen, I don't understand the appeal of having them hate each other then go "But we'll stay married because we love each other!" at the end of every episode lmao
Seasons 1-9 were peak, then you could basically skip most of it and just watch the occasional funny episode.
Either that or just go 1-9, and then the movie.
The movie was good, yeah
yeah, the first nine or eight seasons are fantastic and the movie is a good close to the show in general
The latter is basically what I did. I fell off for good around season 11, then watched and enjoyed the movie.
I'd add season 10. There are some good episodes but also really terrible ones like the Alec Baldwin one. It's a good litmus test to see if you'll enjoy the direction the show is heading, which imo is not a good one.
The movie is awesome!
This is 100% on point
The Season 10 description was perfect.
Everything to the middle of season 20 was great. After season 20 to season 25 it was okay. Since season 26 I wouldn’t watch Simpsons (except for THOH Episodes. That‘s my opinion to the Simpsons
I think the treehouse of horror episodes have mostly devolved into film parodies, many of which don't have anything to do with halloween, which is quite sad given how amazing they used to be.
I like season 33 it might get good again

Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind really stood out to me, being one of the best episodes to release in a decade.
They did parody two different films, but the execution was very well done
The suprise boat reveal was kinda stupid, feels like something from a kids show I think a more grounded reveal that still kept the impact would've made it a lot better. Barthood and A Serious Flanders are two other really good standout modern episodes.
@@randomguyontheinternet7940 Yes a kids show would have a suicide fake out gag. (sarcasm) Maybe Looney tunes might when tyhey took suicide gags less seriously.

I heard that Holidays of Future Passed was supposed to be the series finale of The Simpsons. The Simpsons really should have ended there.
agreed
I think Lisa’s Wedding and Homer’s Enemy are really good final episodes too, if not for the fact that there are good episodes after them.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that
I think it should have ended with "Behind the Laughter."
@@DevineInnovations That would be a really meta ending. If they took the series seriously it should've ended at holidays of future past.

Its horrifying how accurate this is, and how much I never realised I needed this.
(I would swap 9 and 10)
The best of these Michael Rosen memes.
Since everyone else is sharing thier history with the show, I might as well join in. I watched the movie alot when I was younger, but never watched the show itself, until Disney+ rolled around. I watched the first 9 seasons and, yeah. They're great. Season 10 is when I realized I started to laugh less and less. I watched two episodes everyone recommended as a great finale, and one that was unanimously agreed to be the worst, those being Christmas of Future Passed, and Lisa goes Gaga. I watched them back to back, and my word. The contrast is so large. I don't plan on watching the other Seasons I skipped out on, but maybe during a big Simpsons marathon, then maybe.
in my opinion season 15 is really good
Lisa goes Gaga is a good episode. I don't understant why people like the Micahel Jackson one but not this one.
@@icecreamhero2375 ... you don't understand the laziness, the blatant awfulness... I'm just kidding, you're entitled to your own opinion but there are still many good reasons for people to hate. I bet there are many videos talking about the episode if you're interested

Nah but the recent years have been some of the worst things I've ever seen. I hate it, I don't care if thay means I'm mentally unstable, I hate these episodes of a tv show with a passion. When ever it's brought up it ruins my day.

Season 31: And everything was lovely once again wonderful
The Simpsons Movie: ‘And everything was lovely once again, wonderful.’
You're telling me that there are 30 seasons of this shit? Holy crap...
It's more then that now try 34 seasons.....
It's so weird that they picked Troy McClure to represent Season 30, considering Phil Hartman died over 20 years ago. The only silver lining to that is we never got to see his characters ruined like others.
When Michael Rosen said I don't care at season 29... I felt that lol
Watched some episodes from the latest season and they are surprisingly good!
People keep saying that but I think its the worst it has ever been. Season 1-26 is awesome. After that it becaome hit and miss. My biggest issue with 33 is that they have dream sequences way too often. They used to be every so often now they cram several into almost every episode.
It's actually up to season 34 now, even the treehouse of horror episodes suck ass now.

Nailed it. Everything after Arman tamzarian was shockingly bad
weirdly enough, Season 33 (The most recent season) seems to try to shake things up once again, the modern era bad episodes are still there but there are some REALLY good ones as well! together with a lot of big changes for the simpsons and the status quo

4-9 Golden age The writers were at their best, which not only allowed for a string of high ratings, but also allowed for the birth of several memes. (If you watch the Latin American dub, you can find more) Laughing is easy here
9-12 Era Scully Birth of Jerkass Homer, Scully puts the Simpsons in the shark jump experience, the original writers leave, Scully as showrunner puts drugs on the writers allowing the existence of meaningless episodes like the elves or those where the story starts normal and ends up a way where the person stands TF? Out of respect for Scully, he and his team wrote episodes that can be considered from the golden age as the behind the laugh, 30 minutes about Tokyo, HOMR and TOE
13-20 Al Jean comes back with good episodes but the drop in quality is now a black spot, many underrated episodes are on the loose and the ratings drop is notable, the jokes are hit or miss, the characters become a parody of them the same and the series falls into the habit of reusing stories
20-31 Don't cry because we're already dead Few are saved like the "Final" episode, Barthood, the whale episode and the Legos episode, TOH was bait for me as it started with a good intro, but the segments are meh not to mention the celebrity spam and plot of Homer and Marge on marital problems
32-33 I thought it would be the same There are good episodes, there are bad episodes, here the Simpson family's Flanderization even got lighter, TOH were good except for some that even had potential, it was good to see Moe have a healthy ending after the constant times he tried to commit suicide and I call those seasons of "Average Simpsons"
Is that fucking Timmy Turner?

I would say late season 3 - early season 10 was the golden age,
I would say once both Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz and other classic characters started disappearing (for different reasons) that was when the golden age started to slip away.
Season 3 honestly felt like the beginning for the golden age for me, you had classical gags that landed, as well as a criminal season due to Disney+ taking off the first episode “Stark Raving Dad” due to obvious reasons with Michael Jackson. It also lead to the loss of a few characters from Season 1 and 2.
The Principal and the Pauper was definitely the beginning of when the golden age started slowly slipping away, though atleast the episode did not cause any major damage (such as completely removing Skinner entirely) but has definitely left a dent on the series.
The Simpsons started to have less emotional moments like:
- Homer finally reuniting with his mother, only for her to go back on the lamb
- Homer having all of Maggie’s pictures at his workstation to help patch up the “Don’t forget you’re here forever” plaque.
- moments where Homer was not a jerk-ass, but also where he wasn’t “typical Homer” such as standing up for Flanders, or people he doesn’t get along with. You can definitely see this in Season 3 Episode 3 where at first you had Homer being all sinister wanting Flander’s business to fail, but once he saw the troubles, he jumped in and dialled the people of Springfield to support Ned, helping out his financial problems
- Bart at first denying the motherly-actions Marge does for him, such as tucking him in, making him breakfast, but once he did a wrong, he realised that once Marge completely changed her ways with him, leading to Bart missing the things she did to him that he was once annoyed of. And then we see later in the episode he does something to make Marge proud of him again, which patches that hole from the incident (*cough* shoplifting) this is in the Season 7 “Marge not be proud”
- Another Season 7 Episode where Marge meets a old friend who is in a country club, and Marge wants to fit in
With them, with a new dress, and she soon starts to show more attention to both them and the dress more than her own family (similar to the episode where she always went to Burns’ casino and gambled too much) and like that epsiode she realises the bad example she sets for the family and ditches the dress and the country club.
But you get the point, golden age Simpsons also had a ton of emotional episodes / moments where they made tons of people tear up to (especially Season 7, yikes there’s a lot of emotional episodes in that season)
30 seasons?! Awesome!
Season 1 - 8 was peak simpsons
