Sheesh, that took long enough, but at last I've received my Limited Edition of Cold Steel 4, 1 month after release! EU got it bad this time around.
But that's all done now, and finally I can share it with you guys.
And since it's an unboxing video, I decided to also throw in the Japanese Limited Edition for good measure, so you guys can get a good idea of the differences between the two.
Obviously Cold Steel 4 has been on our shores now for just under a month, and a lot of fans have been getting the chance to try it out, with opinions varying quite significantly. Despite that though, and despite my annoyance at NISA for botching the EU release, I cannot deny that they make some excellent Limited Editions, and the CS4 one is no exception.
With the final chapter of Erebonia complete, here's hoping we'll be getting Hajimari no Kiseki very soon... oh yeah, and YS VIII too!

It’s finally here!
Took a while, and I moaned a bit more than I’m proud to admit, but it’s all in the past now.
Happy times - time to unbox us some Limited Editions!
Just finished CS4 10 minutes ago and I gotta say that it was AMAZING! Can't wait for the western release of hajimari!
Grats on finishing the game! I've just started my second playthrough (this time in English of course).
@@TheKisekiNut Ugh! - We poor PC gamers have to wait, and avoid any game-play on RUclips and other channels to avoid spoilers (yes I skipped the second part of the unboxing too, I probably watch it in it's entirely after several months from now). We get to play the game when all the PS4 gamers are already long done with it. I feel sad now.
I get it that it is difficult to release a game on several platforms, but they could have done the same thing CDPR is doing now with Cyberpunk. The PS version was not ready for release, so they hold up the PC release until they can release for both platforms. It would be a nice touch if the same would have happened for Cold Steel IV.
Anyway - Enough rambling here. Nice unboxing (at least the part that I could watch spoiler-free)...
yeah but hajimari has clear save bonus from CS3, CS4, Zero and Azure (All PS4 version). If they jump forward, we will be missing out on the Crossbell clear save bonuses.
I hope we get it sometime next year
@@jclosed2516 console versions still not ready lol. Sony just pulled it from the store and started handing out refunds.
The three og protagonists of Zemuria later C being the fourth protagonist
Cool unboxing
Altina being one of the best characters to use
I'm so glad you finally got your copy TKN! (And glad you actually got the game included too!)
The actual full product is a great limited edition. The artbook was def a nice extra surprise 😄
And silver-haired daughter is def an amazing character~
Nice to see a side by side unboxing comparison. I think NISA releases some of the best, if not best, limited edition goodies to regions that aren't Japan. Cuz we know just how amazing JPN lmtd editions always are lol
Tell me about it Lady, it was a looooooong wait!
But it is an awesome Limited Edition, they always are from NISA.
Hope you're enjoying it so far! :)
thanks mate for unboxing the japanese CE as well now i finally got to a decent quality insight on the content ❤️ since i got no intention on opening mine ever 🤣
I make these sacrifices for you man! :)
@@TheKisekiNut much appreciated you're the best ❤️
Congratulations on 7k subs :)
Cheers bud! :)
Great video as always.
Now I didn't finish the game yet and I have gotten into act 2 (Got Angelica back), and I don't see any of the complaints having any merits (atleast so far)...to me it just shows that no matter how high quality something is we will still get people finding crap to complain about.
Im just waiting for it to be on steam
same lol
Just wanted to say TKN, When I was thinking if I should start the Trails Series around January of 2020, your video was the 1st thing I saw, and I now look at that time with nostalgia, Now I'm here 9 games finished (CS4 was mind blowing). Best Decision I have made. Thank you for all the content that you do. God bless you my friend.
Glad to hear my videos got you in to the Series bud! You're in for the long haul now, and the new game just got announced in Japan. :)
@@TheKisekiNut I Know! I will forever be grateful for that one video you had about world building at that point I assumed Bioware or Age had the best mix universe games with good world building (mass effect and Muvluv respecttively), Have complicated feelings about the move away from Turn based combat though, it feels like its going to become like Ys at this point. Which I am not a fan off hopefully I am still alive before this series finishes. my only regret is I now do not own any collectors editions since I got into Trails only this year think they would do something big for the 20th year anniversary? like a lookback serires box similarly done by FF and Street fighter?. Im hoping they do so at 2024 (would definately race for that by then). CUrrently you and reddit are my prime sources for news about the Kiseki series. Thanks Again!
The letter from Altina is basically talking about her life in Thors II and how she would like to have tea with Millium some day, in a tsundere way.
Typical Altina, love her!
Wow, that was quite the delay. I'm glad it eventually got to you safely. I remember getting the delay email from NISA, but ended up getting it on time thankfully. The special edition is good quality and my favorite part has to be the cloth poster. Such a cool image of Rean, LLoyd, and Estelle. Of course the small hardcover artbook is high quality and will be great to look at further down the line. I think I preferred the CS3 special edition slightly more due to the box being the Einhell Keep and getting a Mishy plush. I just finished my playthrough of CS4 and loved it overall.
It was one heck of a delay, but at least it did get here eventually. North America were originally going to get a delay, but they got away with it in the end. EU got pushed back even further.
Me, a normal european dude: "Yeah I definitely have all the time I want, I mean they're not gonna run out of CS4 limited edition copies a month and a half before it releases, right?
It didn't happen last year with CS3, so there's no way it's happening now"
The harsh, cruel world: "I'm gonna end this man's whole career"
2020 strikes again.
oh the japanese CS 4 box looks amazing. i may have to get that for my collection
Damn sad to hear it took awhile for you to get it but glad u finally did. I hope you can do a favorite character list now once your done the latest entry! Id love to know your favorite characters.
That video is actually on my list to do. I've got a few others to do first, but hopefully won't be too long. :)
@@TheKisekiNut ooo excited, cant wait. I havent even played any of the games yet but saving for a pc to play
Altina is definitely top tier. Fie was my number 1 but Allie during Fragments broke my soul and nearly edged her out.
also the “Romance” with Allie is so wholesome. She deserves the world.
She grew on me massively during CS3, but CS4 was her moment to shine. Can't wait to witness it once again.
That's some great looking limited editions I pre-ordered the switch version of cold steel 4 I can't wait to get it.
You pre-ordered... wisely.
I think the Switch LE is near on similar to this one.
@@TheKisekiNut I think it is exactly the same only thing that will be different is the size of the steel book
Heh... i'm not getting CS4 on Switch sadly. I bought CS3 for the Switch and based on that port i fear CS4 will be just as much of a flop of a port. Namely, CS3 on Switch has some serious problems with overheating the Switch and causing it to freeze. This becomes painfully evident with the noticeable fps drops in crowded areas like Crossbell. Seeing as NISA has never given Switch CS3 any sort of performance patch it's likely CS4's Switch port won't fair much better.
Nice dual unboxing
Very nice..
Got mine after 11 days
Pretty cool steelbook
That's a nice special edition. Also, there's a mistake in the description when you mention YS VIII when that one is already out
Oops, I meant YS IX!
I've had this unopened since early-to-mid 2023 after I became a Trails junkie.
I'm finishing CSII now and just got the rerelease of CS3/4 from NISA. Not sure yet if I'm going to open this and my collector's edition of CS3.
It's great. tosee what's in the case that's sitting sealed on my shelf. 😅
I live In the USA and I got my NIS America special edition the day before release. I've really enjoyed the game and I've almost completed it.
That's some pretty cool stuff. I wish I could have gotten the limited edition but NISA online store doesn't ship to Australia. Well, I didn't really want to wait for it to come and the frontline edition is alright on its own. I would have liked to have the poster and steel book.
Very nice 👍 thx for the feed back
i want that rixia figurine.
anyway does anyone know what written on that letter? kinda curious actually.
My limited edition took about a month as well. Completed Cold Steel 4 three days before it arrived
Well at least you had something to look forward to even after playing.
Do you have any idea what the size of the poster is? I want to get a frame for mine.
If I had to guess, maybe B2 sized? It's big, but not as big as the YS VIII one. I'm just taking a wild guess there though.
@@TheKisekiNut Thanks dude! I'm excited to hang it up. Also excited to get the metal print that NISA has of Rean as well. That hasn't shipped yet though.
Dude that's awesome I'm jealous, I just got the regular version
At least you got the game on time!
@@TheKisekiNut True. I'm enjoying the game so far, wonder if we'll be getting Hajimari next year or maybe the Kai versions of Zero/Ao
Sure wish I could've snagged a copy of this, didn't realize it was gonna be such a limited release
It sold far quicker than the CS3 Limited Edition, I think some people were caught off guard.
Ever since I started cold steel 1 when I asked awhile back what this game was like 1 or 2 years ago in one of your videos I’ve loved this game it’s actually made me a long time player off tales of games love this game more I’ll be getting a computer in the coming weeks and heard you can buy trails in the sky all 3 games on steam gonna play them all and hopefully get crossbell ark on computer to can’t wait
You'll love the Sky arc I'm sure. Even a potato computer could play it to be honest. Zero can be played with the Geofront translation, and hopefully Ao isn't too far behind. So you'll have the full collection to get stuck in to!
@@TheKisekiNut nice thanks I’m planning to get a computer that can play Star Wars Old republic so yeah gonna have the power to play trails game
Still working my way through the game. Is it worth it at all to even bother messing with the super bosses? I finally managed to beat the one in Eerie Woods after weakening and retrying at least 5 times and, in my mind, the reward sucks because I never use arts. I never use regular crafts either. Just s crafts and regular attacks and lots of healing. I find that super boss battle was a major waste of time.
If I remember correctly, the added bosses must be done if you want the True Ending to the game.
RIP vermilion knight drew the short end of the awakener straw. More importantly I’m glad we can finally see the end to reans bullying
He really got screwed in the second half of Cold Steel. It's nice to see his story end nicely... if you got the right ending.
what do you do with your posters im still trying to figure a way to hang them
I keep them in the boxes for now and just use them for backgrounds in some videos. Don't really have the space to put them up 24/7.
@@TheKisekiNut ah same im still trying to figure out what to hang then with kinda wish they came on a tune and string
I really like cold steel 4 I will ranked 4th on my list still like cold steel 3 a little bit more.
The game is my nº1 trails game now.
1. CS4
2. Ao no Kiseki
3. CS3
I'm very sad that I never got that box set, but it looks really cool
It sold far quicker than CS3, I think a lot of people were caught off.
I'm basically done CS4. Just going through the final dungeon again, to get the true ending. Then it's going to be a long wait for Haijmari. But hey, we've got Ys IX coming out February I believe. I've genuinely enjoyed CS4 more than CS1, 2, and 3. Now granted I had a rocky playthrough of CS1. Where I felt like I had burn out. But I still pushed through, which made my experience of CS1, 2, and a bit of 3, kind of disappointing.
The burn out happened because I set expectations too high for CS1, after finishing Trails in the Sky the 3rd, and the fact that CS1 had a slow start, it didn't help at all, as I was still hyped after finishing the 3rd, but it slowly died down. Looking back on it now, I should've probably gone on to Zero no Kiseki right after finishing the 3rd, because that burn out feeling, carried over to Zero and Ao as well. Which I regret a lot.
It is something you need to be careful of. Lots of Trails games is good, but if you blitz through them it can be a bit much. I went to Crossbell about a month after I finished Sky for the first time, and it was amazing. It's good to take it in moderation if you feel the burnout is coming on.
@@TheKisekiNut I played CS4 in moderation, which helped me enjoy it more. Now that there is a gap in between the releases, I will be able to play future trails games in moderation.
Also, it has been two years since I started the Trails series. I finished all of Trails in the Sky in a month. Now, I did say that I played Cold Steel right after the 3rd, but it was CS1 that I originally played, without having any knowledge of any of the other games. I made it to the Roer field study in my first playthrough, heading to the mine, and then for some reason I just stopped playing, and this was played on PC.
I reassessed that I had to play Trails in the Sky to get the full experience, and that's where my true journey began.
Amazing
Sadly here in Brazil something like this would cost like 1000$
Nao cheguei a ver pra comprar, qual site?
Here I am can’t even find r1 version for the frontline edition cause it’s all sold out here, just last year cs 3 didn’t sell out like hot pancakes but this year sigh
It did sell very quickly this time around.
@@TheKisekiNut ya but I guess its a good thing since it shows more people buying it 😅
Still waiting for that PC version, while avoiding spoilers like a fucking Reimu on the EX stage
I think the Switch release of CS3 is the best one. Why? Because it had a Mishy plushie! *UNFORTUNELY I ALREADY HAD THE PS4 VERSION!*
I’m still mad NISA didnt process my order after I preordered the game
man i'm so jelly i really wanted to get that Limited edition but by the time i got into the Trails games it was sold out so i had to settle with the Frontline edition
but yeah CS4 was a fantastic game imo and my fav Cold steel game (not my fav Trails game tho that's still Sky SC tho it could change as i haven't played Azure or Hajimare as of yet)
Hah - For me the Crossbell dualogy is the best. I personally had a hard time to decide which one I liked best, because they came very close. But in the end Crosbell wins. That said - The Crosbell dualogy is only really good if you played the Sky trilogy first, so maybe it's fair to say that only the whole package is great...
@@jclosed2516 I haven't played Azure so I can't say for now but I did really enjoy Zero so I may love the crossbell games the most time will tell of course haha
hey kiseki nut where can i get that rixia figure
E2046 - but it's a garage kit. So you'll need to assemble and paint it (or get a commissioner like I did).
Dude i was so pissed when i unboxed mine! The black records are not really the black records. I wanted an actual physical copy of the offical games black records
I think most people loved cold steel 4. the metacritic is over 80 and the only bad review is from RPG site and they couldn't even be bothered to unlock the true ending, so opinion is invalid.
that being said, it does have it's problems but I'd rate it around Zero/Azure
I finally managed to get a JP Limined Edition today! The JP version destroys the Western one IMO. Not much of a fan of the Western version!
Good on you bud! The fact you managed to get one was lucky, they've pretty much disappeared in recent times.
i got two copies
7:26 You should have warned us that there will be spoilers. Some of us are still waiting for the steam release you know
I think it goes without saying that a CS4 unboxing will have some spoilers. Not to mention the packet had a spoiler warning on it.
@@TheKisekiNut well the moment I saw "spoiler warning" I immediately stopped the video. I'm watching Ladyvirgilia's stream so I haven't been spoiled by anything from this video. Btw, great collab you had with her on the CS2 summary
@@ntluck1592 Yeah - I did the same. We will see the rest of it several months later when we are finally able to play the game. A bit sad really...
Persona 5 royal streel case
maan wished these books were in english
They're a very nice item to have. Lots of reading material there!
thats a really sweet CE, if only the game was any good
My party consists of female characters....
I think im sexist....
Waifus are the best
@@musse4925 Aye right there m8
Im on fire
Let's say it straight - this is the worst Trails game in the saga. Still ok to play and enjoy, but far from it's predecessors and successor. I'm sure you've played it already as most of us did JP version, so you know what to expect. I'm glad they fixed many things in Hajimari. Enjoy goodies from this LE!
I mean it comes down to opinion. It's actually my second favourite game in the Series, but it's divided opinion since the initial release back in 2018.
