I would say the X-factor in this fight will be Oliveira’s power. Gaethje hasn’t acknowledged it at all and I get the feeling Charles will get catch him with something like how he caught Chandler and then he’ll lock in a sub.
I think Charles doesn't have as much power as he does accuracy. His shots are so precise and proficient. Look back when he knocked down chandler, wasn't a super heavy punch but was perfectly placed. As well as most of his follow up shots
Very possible considering how he fought Khabib, Justin was way too focus of the takedowns and got punched in the face for it but thats What he prefers, rather get punched than taken down. Still think Justin will get the job done
He ran the first round because khabib was over aggressive. Also khabib said he was rushing and making a mistake at a certain point chasing justin. He played his gameplan but wasn't enough just because khabib is a beast and scored a takedown just after a strong low kick from justin, which is pretty unpredictable.
All the disrespect makes me wonder if he’s compensating. Aside from bringing up Charles’ weaknesses from over half a decade ago and making irrelevant comparisons Justin has nothing to say. No substance at all in his trash talk and it comes off as superficial confidence.
That's a beautiful assessment right there and I'm a hundred percent with you, Justin's going to get finished in two and a half round like the last two opponents...edit: I was wrong he did it even EARLIER than that😂
Lmao Gaethje is so delusional. Doesn't think the Chandler fight was a war. Doesn't give Charles the respect he deserves, also highly underestimating him. He's going to lose.
There's tons of comments like yours on videos about gaethje while Charles' comments are all filled with "he's so great omg" but people still think Charles is underestimated lmao
Nothing in my comment even praises Charles you smooth brain. So what comments exactly are you comparing mine to? Because in mine, there is no praise. Maybe you should stop spending all night on RUclips comments.
I feel like he's underestimating Charles. Gaethje couldn't finish Chandler while Oliveira did on the feet. Charles is very durable too as he weathered the storm from Chandler and Poirier to come back and finish them both. Gaethje has dynamite in both hands though and his kicks are powerful. I've got Charles winning but wouldn't be surprised if Justin busts him up on the feet.
@@ST-jy9no only because Tony is a maniac and didn't tap to that armbar in round 1. Charles had another chance in round 3 to snatch an Armbar and let it go cuz he knew Tony won't tap anyway
It's not about finishing but rather how your opponent looks like after the match. Finishing someone might be luck or the guy made a mistake but making your opponent look like a ragged doll will be a more mental thing for him for a long time. Just like what Jessie on Fire said a couple of days ago.
I personally think their striking levels are almost the same if anything slightly better for Charles as he's more well rounded, Justin certainly has more power but this narrative that Charles isn't a good striker is bizarre. Justin has a weird vibe going atm and doesn't seem to be giving Charles any credit which is what Chandler and Dustin done. The only way I see Justin winning is if he puts Charles out early, we seen he was gassed against Chandler and then becomes sloppier. It's an interesting fight but Charles wins this, he's got more of a skillset and is cleaner with his techniques.
And he kinda was talking down chandler and tony like he’s not humble anymore at all I think it’s getting to his head a little bit asking for a title after a loss or I’d be a “disgrace” like bro what
@Let’s B Honest you're an angry fella aren't you lol. Gotta calm down mate it's not going to get you anywhere in life being so agitated. If you fail to see the differences, advantages and disadvantages then that's fine but there's no need to act like a silly bugger. We'll see what happens this weekend and that's that.
Gaethje moaning about Olives for being a quitter even though he tapped to a choke. Obviously nothing wrong w tapping to a choke but there is if you’re calling some other dude a quitter. Doesn’t any1 else think this as well?
@Cornpop no difference at all. The choke, once fully applied will leave no choice. That’s the point of bjj. Let’s say this was true though, tapping because of who the person is is actually worse if you ask me. That’s like saying because Gordon Ryan is Gordon Ryan, I should let him get me into this RNC and then also because he’s him, I should then tap out. 🥸
“Once a coward always a coward. I’m not calling him a coward.” To me it seems like he’s calling him a coward lol. Should be a great fight. I know a lot of people want Justin to win but I predict deja vu like the Khabib fight. Justin doesn’t quit so I think he’s not going to tap and pass out with the ref pulling his mouthpiece out and laying him down sideways. But this might not age well and Charles could be KOed stiff. Best. Wishes to both.
but gaetje did tap against khabib but its a hard fight to call. I like both guys but gun to the head, if i had to choose one whos going to win, its oliviera because he has crazy submissions, gaethje will go for war and his endurance is much better than olivieras in that aspect, but gaethje needs to wrestle or have some submissioms up his sleeve which i have never seen him do. A great example is ferguson, ferguson likes to stand and bang but oliviera wouldnt allow that, and when gaethje gives up his back, i see oloviera winning
Sucks to see Justin have no respect for Charles at all, it’s nice to see him give respect to khabib but him thinking he’s gonna walk through Charles ,its not the mindset to have going into a fight with a killer like Charles. Respect to both it’s gonna be a barn burner on Saturday but rooting for Charles to humble Justin 👍
On one hand, it might be mind games because he knows how Charles always feels like hes gotta prove something despite being the champ. Charles said it himself about how it bothered him that everyone was referring to the Diamond as the uncrowned king and he was gonna get walked through. Also, both Charles title fights were not very impressive if we're being honest. Yes, he won, but he was rocked to the ground both times and almost got tko'd. Justin seems to have the confidence that if he connects, he will be able to finish where Chandler and DP didn't. It is funny that Justin couldn't finish Chandler though, where Bronx did.
@@hatemhammad1995 bro you gotta be a casual, with all my respect... Charles being knocked down and then just knocking out chandler wasn't impressive? Or being a huge underdog against Dustin, and finishing him faster than khabib? I mean...

why did aldo get a gifted title shot his whole career aldo never beat an undisputed champ for the belt in fact he never beat anyone for the undisputed title what a loser now I see why he got ktfo in 13 seconds
He used to say that he went into fights thinking the opponents were always better than him. When he was scheduled to fight Tony he kept talking about how he was gonna get his head split by sharp elbow strikes by Tony Ferguson. What happened to this mentality?
he seems to have gotten a bit of an ego inflation since he's stalled out in the rankings. or maybe all of the damage has sufficiently scrambled his brain
He was within reach of what he wanted when he fought khabib..hes not allowing himself to succumb to the doubt this time around, hence his newlyfound attitude of no one can beat him now..from a psychological perspective
The amount of respect gaethje has for khabib is crazy. Takes a real man to recognise a man who beat you'd greatness, unlike a certain someone we all know.
Sounds like respect, but at the end of the day its self defence. Being told Khabib is "too good to beat" is a big weight of his shoulders. But to Charles he is not giving proper credit because he wants to diminish Charles in his mind to fill his own confidence. He admitted that he does this in his last fight when he was being an asshole to Chandler.
He's the most entertaining fighter and most entertaining interview, too. His unintentional jokes and his mellow IDGAF attitude makes everything he says sound profound. Born to fight.
@Big Bad punisher absolutely. Gaethje was and still is a joke on the ground. Charles is equally exciting whether standing and trading or grappling on the mat. That's why Gaethje is trying to goad Charles into standing (oh he'd better take me down) because he knows he's a non factor there.
I forget leg kicks all the time cuz during fight-nights they're implemented proportionately with strikes, but during ppv's they're spammed and ultimately play a huge role in championship fights. I wonder how many we'll see on this card. Especially considering how well Charles seems to check them, similarly to Petr Yan. I'M PUMPED LET'S GOOOO!
If justin stands in the pocket and charles decides to exchange blows just will chip in the really awkward close up leg kicks. He did them all night to chandler and got a couple in on khabib but we will see how special Charles is after Saturday
@@king.indigo3692 charles showed in the last Poirier fight that he likes to pressurize with this muay tai style clinches where you don't really have that much room, not even for trading in the pocket since your opponent is literally glueing himself against your body and throws knees and elbows from the sides.
@@costinvaly1 true but I feel justin had definitely showed a more improved leg game against chandler and I believe that will transition into this fight might more effectively than Charles muy Thai. Good point though, it very well may end up going that way.
0:30 like khabib has this mythical qualities about him !!😀 Its amazing how people's perception of Khabib changed since he said one day a guy from mountain ⛰ will become the champion!! What a worthwhile all rounder champion in life 👏 🙌 👌
It's going to go down just like the Dustin Poirer fight. Dustin got submitted in two title fights. Once by Khabib and then by Olivera. The same will happen to Justin Gaethje.
Justin is a better wrestler than Dustin, by quite a margin. He can stop the feeble champion from getting it to the ground, but Olive's scrambles are insane; that's the only threat.
Could be, but Dustin was so distracted. I remember dustin talking about a lot of unnecessary stuffs. Talking about what he is going to do after winning the title, talking about broken conor etc. That guy didn't know what was coming in the way. I really believe Dustin had lost the focus and is already into selling his products like sauce, alcohol etc. Guy was totally distracted before Oliveira fight.
@@ryangreen45 I will not tolerate any Charles slander. The guy has been touched by some of the greatest strikers in UFC and hasn’t succumbed. Justin Gaethje couldn’t stop Chandler. Charles Olivera did.
50/50 either justin knocks charles out or charles somehow lands the takedown and basically chockes him out within a few seconds. and i guess charles does not have the same strenght as khabib to take justin easily down but if he manages to do so, we all know how its going to end. Justin really has to fight for his life during those clinch moments like conor did when he fought khabib lol
"I guess charles does not have the same strenght as khabib to take justin easily down" - THIS, is what everyone is missing. They think just because Khabib did it that Olive can do it; that's a terribly stupid thing to believe. The Dagestani is far stronger, and far more technical with take-downs.
Id say 55/45 for charles because of How Justin got punched a lot by Khabib because of the takedown threat. But then Charles has more pop in his punches but a weaker chin than Khabib.
@@truthsouls2003 Nah other ways to lock in a sub. He could lock one in through a clinch situation or on the ground if he drops Gaethje. Also let's not act like Charles couldn't sleep him like he slept Chandler, his striking is just as good, Justin has the power advantage but that's about it.
@@BOZ_11 I agree with you. The way Khabib took gaethje down instantly in a split second after eating his vicious leg kicks. Damn boy that's some ridiculous speed, strength and accuracy from Khabib. I have watched Khabib's take down on gatheje number of times and still can't believe my eyes. Nobody can take gaethje as easy as Khabib did. Also Oliveira does not have the same granite chin of khabib to eat the punches. That's the reason I see it's a 50/50. Regardless of who wins, I'm pretty sure Justin will smash and turn oliveira's face into a pulp
justin has a chance until they get within dirty boxing range, charles is gonna cut him up and bang em up with elbows and knees and if it goes to grappling and ends up on the ground he’s gonna tap, snap or get slept 😭 i want this to go 5 rounds so bad but i dont see it either way it goes its not going longer than 3 i dont think
Bro Chandler almost finished Charles, he just made a mistake by going to the ground instead of finishing with strikes. Gaethje won't make that same mistake.
Come on guys, Justin is a professional fighter, he knows a thing or 2 about it. He knows Charles is a threat, he knows everything these comments are trying to say, “JUsTIn IsN’T rEspECtinG ChARleS”. He’s trying to get into his head and trash talk, whether or not it’s good or convincing is irrelevant, he is going against his toughest opponent yet, hardest and most important fight of his life, the battle starts way before the octagon. He’s gonna try beat him in any and every way and that includes trash talk
I just haven't ever respected Oliveira after he gave up against Felder. Man literally lost the his will in that fight after failing to nab a sub and knew he'd get destroyed in the stand up. Man definitely paid his dues and has enjoyed a great run and may even expand on it, but I want to see the Human Highlight Wheel win.
i was rooting for justin but after this level of desrispect against oliverira and even chandler, i changed my mind. i hope he gets a huge piece of humblepie.
And even Nate, I get it, alot of fighters dislike the Diaz's way of promoting/getting fights, but Justin came off different in this interview. He's usually more humble.
Man people are so confident in Oliveira they’re sleeping on Gaethjes skill and power. Charles could absolutely win but people acting like Gaethje doesn’t have a chance have no idea
yes because he is not giving oliveira single respect , Oliveira is a champion for a reason, look at the fighters he beat, and for that disrespect, we want oliveira to win and and we don't want TKO by oliveira, we want the fight to go to the ground and we all know what is going to happen there
Its crazy to see how Khabib has been in everyones mind after he beat them. He lives in Conor’s head rent free. Dustin let Charles ground and pound him because he was okay was losing the round but not getting choked after Khabib choked him. Justin is also ditching his tactic of playing safe from Khabib’s fight and is apparently going to move forward. Just shows the fear he instilled in his opponents.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Professional athletes learn from their mistakes. Being adaptable and fixing problems is probably most important in combat sports.
Khabib’s retirement allowed for competition in the top 5 of the Lw division. Khabib was taking no damage defending that belt. Only to push islam into his old position😂.
I’ve always been a fan but He’s kind of coming off as arrogant and condescending honestly. Especially with the comments about Charles being a coward and then calling the chandler fight “boring”. This interview might age like milk lol
Funny how Justin brags SO MUCH about never having quit, when he did tap in HIS last title fight. He went out bc Jason Herzog let it continue for too long, but Justin tapped out before being out.
olivera quit against holloway olivera a snoozefest he did nothing against tony olivera isn't khabib the bum got ktfo by cerrone keep crying olivera a weak loser like aldo who getting ktfo by 135er
I'm pretty sure he means giving up while taking a beating. Getting locked in the triangle choke of Khabib and tapping right before he goes out, is not the same type of 'quitting'
It seems like an unpopular opinion right now, but I think Justin takes this one. He hits like an absolute tank, and Charles tends to get hit in the standup. In this interview, though, Justin is dead wrong if he thinks Charles is the same fighter as when he was losing. Charles is no Khabib, but he is an extremely dangerous opponent.
I agree everyone is writing off Justin because of his loss against Khabib. He’s a vicious striker with an insane work ethic and has been improving but people seem to forget that. I think Gaethje is right, Charles has changed but his old/true self remains deep within and can get dragged out of him if he gets severely compromised.

@@richardmorris7063 he doesn't necessarily have to fight mistake free, just defend takedowns, getting his back taken like Dustin, and avoid being baited to the ground striking, easier said then done but gaethje is one of the best wrestlers and getting him down against his will is supremely difficult I mean Chandler wrestles with Usman, and gaethje effortlessly stuffed Chandler's takedowns, and by judging Mike's and Olly's match gaethje is better all around then Mike in striking and wrestling and combine that with Oliveira's newfound cockiness in his striking Justin has a good shot at knocking him out as long as he doesn't get baited or backpacked like Porier, I'm gonna shoot my shot and say Gaethje round 4🎉
I agree with Gaejthe's assessment of Oliveira's pressure. The way Oliveira pressured Poirier was largely ineffective due to the fact that Oliveira has no head movement. Dustin just stood his ground and threw shots back, and Olivera was a punching bag... getting dropped and wobbled over and over. Oliveira can't fight that way against Gaejthe, there's just too much power coming back.
You do realize Dustin stopped Justin. Charles stopped Chandler and justin went the distance with Chandler. Like every way I see it Charles finishes Justin easy. The man sucks on the ground and he's fighting the guy with the record for subs.
@@thoughtsofalostoneofalosto2591 yea, about 5 years ago. That’s like saying “You know Conor once stopped Dustin.” Before their rematches. That’s old news. All fighters have been improving. Yea, and Donald Cowboy Cerrone knocked Charles out a few years ago too. Do you think he still could?
@@thoughtsofalostoneofalosto2591 I think you broke the world record for the longest MMA math equation ever. MMA math doesn't work however... to assess this fight we must look at Charles and Gaejthe's styles, not their opponents. In my opinion both guys are a nightmare match up for each other. Gaejthe's lack of Jiu Jitsu up against the nastiest submission artist in the UFC, and Oliveira's lack of head movement and chin vs pure power and destruction. I don't know who's going to win, but I'm 99% certain that one of them is getting finished; whether that's a sub for Oliveira or a KO for Gaejthe. I don't see this fight going to a decision.
Leg kicks are the deciding factor in this fight if justin wins, followed by either a uppercut or hook to hurt him. he has crazy speed on his uppercut and hooks.
You just can’t compare Khabib to anyone. Dude is the GOAT, never bled, never hurt, never tapped. No shame in losing to him. Do you have any other reference apart from Khabib?
Such an oblivious casual take. EVERYBODY ran from Khabib. Nobody could stop his takedowns, not a single one of his opponents. He literally ran through all of them and made it look easy.
You guys do know the more pain and suffering you endure the easier quitting becomes. Yes Charles is tougher than before but fighting Gaethje is a whole different world of pain. That being said Charles could jump his back and finish the fight in a few minutes. But Gaethje playing the mind game is not solely disrespect but very smart. Nothing haunts a man like quitting.
No one is underestimating anybody…Saturday night they meet in that cage to fight. It’s hard too praise a guy you’re ready to die fighting. Respect to both guys may the best man win.
C. Oliveira has evolved since those couple of fights that he "quit." J. Gaethje needs to hold up though, cause I remember him "quitting" versus Khabib. He was outmatched on the ground and Khabib took Gaethje's best shots standing. As soon as they hit the ground, Gaethje knew he was beat. The gap between Oliveira's BJJ and Gaethje's wrestling is as wide as Khabib's was vs him. May the better man win Saturday night.
I think Justin is spot on in this interview. Charles has quit (not locked in a submission like Justin v khabib). He has a good amount of confidence and excited to see how this one goes.
I see everybody in the comments talking about Gaethje disrespecting Charles, the biggest disrespect is the reporter comparing Khabib and Charles and saying that Charles might be even more dangerous, Khabib would ragdoll Charles and play with him…
I will 100% agree that Charles cannot absorb damage like Khabib nor is he at that level where he has the ability to dominate you for multiple rounds straight. However, I think Justin is contradicting himself when he says “Charles is a quitter because he quit many years ago” and then when talking about himself years ago he says “with age comes wisdom” before following it up with “this isn’t the same charles as the charles back then.” I admit in this sport absorbing so many strikes to the head can lead to fighters having half-assed thoughts like these, but cmon man you can’t go into a fight with this mindset and speak in this manner and believe it. Just look at how Chandler speaks about Tony, on the same card.
I think he is talking about 2 different things. With age comes wisdom is mostly fighter IQ. Not being so wreckless. When he is talking about Charles being different now as opposed to how he used to be, he's acknowledging his improvement but also saying that somewhere the old Charles is in there and he will bring him out. he might not have put it together well but this is how I understood it
@@PAG11105 yeah i saw elements of that too in the conversation, but when you do compliment a person for his improvement you have to compliment him for overcoming now the setbacks that used to make him quit in the past. some people learn and grow from their defeats and the way they quit to become relatively invincible. it’s a part of growing and improving imo.
@Darren Reddix there are some real humble fighters just because they fighting each other , there's no reason to make enemies outside the cage , martial arts is all about respect but people can't expect everyone to be humble ,these fighters are human who have their own perspective and preference,I think any trashtalk is okay as long as it didn't involve families or religion etc

To be fair to Justin, I've seen a lot of interviewers talked about how Charles finish Dustin who beat him and KO'd Chandler when he didn't during the whole build up for this fight. Maybe that's why he's not cool with the press and also Charles because the press keeps bringing it up and that messes with a fighter's ego.
If it goes to the ground, i’m very heavily leaning charles. I haven’t seen justin ever dominate on ground but that’s because his style of fighting is stand and bang. Justin’s ground game is almost unknown at this point besides his bout with khabib. charles can be put to sleep by justin on the feet without doubt. i’m leaning towards gaethje for this one because we have seen charles get hit and hurt and justin won’t let him recover.

Must be brain damage 😂
I feel like he's underestimating Charles. Gaethje couldn't finish Chandler while Oliveira did on the feet. Charles is very durable too as he weathered the storm from Chandler and Poirier to come back and finish them both. Gaethje has dynamite in both hands though and his kicks are powerful. I've got Charles winning but wouldn't be surprised if Justin busts him up on the feet.
I think Charles takes it either way. Ko or submission.
MMA math doesn't work. Justin finished tony while charles couldn't.
@@ST-jy9no also, Cowboy finished Olives, and Gaethje finished Cowboy
@Let’s B Honest bro wtf is up with you chill out its just a sport

@Cornpop no? If ur stuck in a submission ur gonna tap either way
I don't get how he says that with a straight face as if Oliveira's last 2 fights don't contradict that
@Cornpop no difference at all.
Also if you don't tap, and get put to sleep you get suspended for several months
Justin Gaethje is the most overrated lightweight ever.
What an ignorant statement. I want to see him put to sleep
but gaetje did tap against khabib but its a hard fight to call.
Justin gonna go to sleep
Charles might catch this dude in an arm bar. If he doesn’t tap, he’ll lose an arm.

Yeah man Gaethje sounds like a clown. Charlie gonna make him go to sleep
It's going to go down just like the Dustin Poirer fight. Dustin got submitted in two title fights. Once by Khabib and then by Olivera. The same will happen to Justin Gaethje.

Charles must take his back to win , Gaethje has good takedown defence ,even Chandler can't take him down easily
Its crazy to see how Khabib has been in everyones mind after he beat them. He lives in Conor’s head rent free. C. Oliveira has evolved since those couple of fights that he "quit." J. Gaethje needs to hold up though, cause I remember him "quitting" versus Khabib.
Charles said -" he gonna get The chance to prove hes better than me"
For the belt to come out of khabibs shadow, Charles has to win in which case charles would have beaten the last two people that khabib beat.
Justin is adamant on marching forward and I love watching an adamant Justin
AND NEW! Bring that belt back to Colorado!🤘🏆
Joe Lauzon said it best: “Justin Gaethje will set himself on fire, just to burn his opponent.”
😂
Where the hell did all this Gaethje hate come from ? Dude loss to the dude that nobody beat and now he’s not the highlight ? Let’s go Justin 💯
Brazil fans 😂
he's being smug, mma fans enjoy seeing humble fighters
Because charles is a nice guy and gaethje is uncharacteristically disrespectful and dismissive of him. It almost seems fake and forced trash talk
@@dkrappenschitz9513 Gaethje has been like that since he came to the ufc tho . He’s a cage fighter who’s violent but you want him to be humble and nice lol
The new UFC lightweight champion Justin gaethje this man is on a mission I would not be surprised he's a warrior.
Well he was calling Charles a quitter and saying he would break in the Dustin fight. That's just the business
"i tell everyone i meet..... that time does not slow down here on out" LOL
the cte is strong in this guy
olivera the one who got ktfo his whole career
You don’t have to project this hard
Gaetchje should fight porier after he loses to Charles
Or Dustin vs chandler
Charles beats him on the feet then Subs him
If it goes to the ground, i’m very heavily leaning charles.
I just wanna see Jiri fight again. he a real one.
BOBBY GREEN!
Next month!
He literally gives olives his Ups multiple times in the interview. What yall want him to say? Lmao he wasn't disrespectful at all just confident in himself and his plan
