Wow that's funny... We here in the US have Zote bars, a white or pink HUGE bar of washing soap, the white is for whites and I use it to wash my bras, lol! I actually use liquid soap, but also the bar soap to wash the under arm area to make sure I get the deodorant out... And it's literally $1 for the huge bar at Walmart! I love it!
My ex mother in law uses the pink one, but she shreds it with a cheese grater and adds it to her home made laundry powder.
But the bar itself is great, I actually first bought it to use on antique doilies that have light stains on them, it works amazing on those too and very gentile on antique linens. I've saved some gorgeous thread work antique pieces!

      Hey Em22,
Zote bars? not heard of that. Shredding with a cheese grater is a great idea, we will discuss! That is good because it gives the soap a chance to really get to work. like it!
Thanks so much for the comment Em!

Not a bad haul for $100 US, especially considering some very high dollar items in fancy cheeses, sandwich meats, beer, cream cookies etc.
A little tip for you. ANYTHING made by La Costena is fabulous from spaghetti sauce to jams and jellies. Don't hesitate to try any of their products which are less than half of labeled items from the USA for which you are paying for the label. I live in Guanajuato City, worked in hospitality in the USA for 40+years, and no one appreciates the freshness and high quality of what we have at our fingertips here more than I.

      Aura!
Firstly thank you so much for getting in touch and also thank you for this comment as you don't realise how much it means. When we recorded this, we thought long and hard about including the element with the Salad and the Whopper, as we fully expect comments such as "Can't believe you have gone all the way to Mexico and eat stuff like that" so we were braced for the backlash. Obviously when you record a video it is one moment in time and although we are eating Mexican food probably 80% of the time, we sometimes want something that reminds us of home. So for you to comment that you love the honesty in that part, it means you are one of us and you understand what we are doing here. So thank you very very much indeed. Hope you are subscribed and coming on this journey with us!

I moved to Queretaro, Mexico on 11/2/2021 from the USA. This is a beautiful, SAFE, and super clean city. I have a beautiful apartment with a fantastic view of all of the city, and my apartment includes all utilities, and internet, and maid service. I have a private driver to take me where I want to go. I did get a Telcel phone for I had a landline in the USA. My favorite place for groceries is La Comer, which is a 5 minutes car ride from my apartment, and I use the services in my neighborhood, which includes laundry and take outs. The people are super nice, and the police do not play with criminals. This place reminds me of Singapore, and I will be here for the rest of my life.
I do speak Spanish as a second language, having lived in Acapulco, but the earthquakes were the deal breakers for beautiful Acapulco.
    Stay blessed and safe everyone.

Really can relate to this. It becomes a day trip when we go shopping while we are on foreign holidays especially in USA it takes ages and always buy extra things and forget to get something we really need.
I was a mile of on estimating the cost I guessed at £45.00.
You know I don’t do the weekly shopping. Lol

I order groceries online from La Comer and local friends shop for me also. I do not eat pork or onions. My friends make non lard chicken tamales. I introduced them to old fashion grits.turkey bacon. Cheese eggs.and baked Mac and cheese from scratch Salmon croquettes. Red snapper, tuna, Louisiana hot sauce. Most USA products are ordered from Amazon and Mercado Libre. I use local friends address, since they said they cannot find my place in Corregidora.

My husband and I (along with our son most of the time) have rented many vacation homes through VRBO over the years. Sometimes the kitchens are well-equipped and we can easily cook a meal, more often than not, we would end up buying odds and ends that we would bring home with us. I'm curious to see how your experience with this issue will go because while nobody loves to eat out more than me, I realize that it would quickly get expensive. At home, I have all my gadgets and spices, etc and I think I would miss that. GoWithLess said they were traveling with a box of kitchen supplies in the States, but that wouldn't be very convenient abroad. I think you could easily dedicate a whole video to this topic. BTW, the stores there looked amazing!

    • @2GoRoam
      @2GoRoam  3 года назад +2

      Hi Mel,
It can be hit and miss can't it. I feel you, when we had our home we have every gadget and spice known to man.... Now we have to improvise. Interesting thing we are finding is that it's real cheap to eat out in Mexico so we haven't cooked a huge amount at home. With you on the comment from GoWithLess, I don't think they are travelling with any gadgets at the moment. We are seeing them later today so we'll be sure to ask them.
Thanks as ever for your kind support!

@@2GoRoam Thanks. The wife and I are planning a similar early retirement but including building a home in Merida Mexico. FYI i forgot to add on the price for the beer!

The alcohol always bumps up the total eh! 😄
Sounds amazing, and to have a dream home somewhere like Merida sounds wonderful. We have heard great things about Merida but we probably won't make it there on this trip to Mexico. Good luck with your plans.

Stuart, what can I say! Absolutely perfect! This reminds me of the times when we were on conference calls together and you always gave the perfect answer.... which now means that I realise all of those times you were spinning the truth! :-)

That was a pretty good guess. We did a shop today and it was about £35 as we are now more in the swing of what we need and not having to but basic essentials. Thanks so much for the comment, that was a real happy surprise to see your name pop up!

@@2GoRoam well for fun (and apparently because I have too much time on my hands) I ran your grocery order through the Walmart online shop here in Canada. The total came out to around $210 Canadian dollars (I had to estimate averages on some things).

      Hi Daniel!
Thank you so much for this! Really useful comment. On this video we actually spent a lot of time boosting and testing the voice overs and I was worried that if I did more it would be overpowering. But your comment helps a lot, watch out for the next voiceover, using your comment... we will fix this for sure!
      Really appreciate it.
