    This explains a lot. When I was a kid, my father used to hit me a lot and put me down. Explains why I’m still so fragile today as an adult.

    I think I have found out why I keep feeling faint, shaking, getting sweaty palms, and almost fainting, ringing in my ears, but feeling better after I have a bowel movement and years and years of anxiety and depression. I noticed this onset after I stop singing

    My vagus nerve is such a sneaky, annoying backstabber. Just a hint of some catastrophic scenario playing in my head, and it’s all ready to go, flipping all sorts of switches in my body.

  • @imjustjules

    Interesting.. do you have POTS or orthostatic hypotension? While I’m all for theories like Gabor Mate has that trauma causes chronic illness, I think doing nervous system support like you mentioned and getting support for medical conditions helps. Like I am going to be evaluated for dysautonomia but in the meantime sure I do gentle yoga, and I sing and hum too! I love cold beverages and ice packs when I’m overstimulated. But I also drink electrolyte beverages and upped my salt intake per my dietitian’s advice and so I think a combination of both aspects help.
    I bring this up because POTS and other forms of dysautonomia are often written off as anxiety.. and while I agree on a nervous system level they create similar symptoms, anxiety alone wouldn’t improve with
    Increased salt intake.. but POTS or OH might.. similar for compression socks etc.

      @@imjustjules , yes, I agree with everything you mentioned. I’m not too worried about it since I’ve somehow managed to cope my entire life. But yes, your suggestions of POTS and orthostatic hypotension are real possibilities that may be in the mix. 😊

      For me, it was worst when I was focused on it, trying to fix it, poking at it. When I got bored with it, it slowly went away. I don’t know... maybe it wasn’t totally wasted time... at least I got to know better what it was doing.

    Thanks for yet another excellent video. I’ve always found your talks really educational and VERY helpful. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but (personally) I don’t understand why you include “cut-aways”, (some obviously using human models), to emphasise what you already brilliantly explain. Personally I find them distracting and would much prefer if you yourself were “centre” and these rather corny additions were minimised.

    I have a question about OCD. Is it possible to plan something "consciously," while _subconsciously_ you don't actually plan to do it? For example, *_in the moment,_* you "consciously" plan to hit or spit on someone, but _subconsciously_ it is not your intention/chosen action? Let me use an example outside of the context of OCD, to illustrate and compare. *In the moment*_ someone falls or trips, I _consciously_ plan to see if they're okay and/or help them. _That_ type of *_in the moment_* and plan. Is OCD planning (what I just described) the same thing?

    Mam, I am suffering from OCD for quite some time. Then I was afraid of cancer, then I was afraid of schizophrenia and becoming bipolar. Then last night I felt as if when I saw my mother, I felt like a ghost. I was very scared seeing her face. So please tell me it's OCd intrusive thought and others condition 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

    • @PaigePradkoTherapy
      @PaigePradkoTherapy  Месяц назад +2

      I’m so sorry you are having to deal with this. It is common in people with OCD and health anxiety to fear developing medical and mental health conditions. The fear can exacerbate anxiety symptoms. When you felt “like a ghost” it sounds like you were experiencing an anxiety sensation. None of this is harmful or dangerous even though it is uncomfortable.
