My buddy and I took my boys to mountain lake back in August... Beautiful site... We got a tip from the campers the .. if you go just to the left of the put in from the portage there is a path that goes right by the thunder box onto the camp site... Saves loading the canoe down the mudslide

Love your vids Kevin! A little tip from a tad younger dude with managing the eyebrows and ear hair (I hate them both). Clippers with no attachment and a comb for the brows and tweezers for the hearing components.

I didn't know that whip-poor-wills ate bugs like that, but I also didn't know how to spell whip-poor-wills either hahaha. That's really cool. Thoroughly enjoying your videos Kevin, now I have to pick up your books.

You guys are more brave then us. We avoid May and June like the plague to avoid the venerable family of simuliidae. I like the blue canoe!

Geez, so many bugs! It must be due to all the rain we've had.

Time to start lobbying for Health Canada to allow permethrin treated clothing and permethrin sprays [for humans] in Canada. I don't know about black flies, but permethrin does the job for mosquitos and ticks.

I have purchased a permethrin spray the last few seasons and I live in Ontario. Try looking at Army Surplus stores. I wont go on any trips without treating all our clothes especially with all the ticks here now.

Whippoorwills, a good reason to bring earplugs on a canoe trip.

Why don't you use Thermacell? It works well to keep the bugs away....

Wow, how much would you pay for a screen tent out there? Was just in Sioux Lookout area last week. 2 sunny days included black flies.

Those bugs remind me of my fishing trip two years ago...... we did three weeks of bugs like that in Northern Ontario in early June. We now go late August/September. I will add a link to the BlackFly song. And I’ve been to the power dams in this song and Wow they can be bad
