To the thirty eight thousand people who have subscribed to this mans channel... hail, sisters and brothers, proof, that we are still alive, and that our faith will not go quietly into the night, and that we will show our Gods that they are not forgotten.
Snow, helicopter, birds...hahaha this video had me laughing in the beginning. Skadi said "me too!" As the birds are like "nooooo go away!" Lmao. Great video!
Freyja and I have always been kinda close. She was the first Norse diety I learned about, and when I converted to Heathenism and first prayed to her, it felt like she said "Its about time we spoke".
@Kindsey I'm relatively new as well so I'm not sure. I also don't know if the Scandinavian countries have blue jays? If I find out I'll try to let u know tho Edit: according to a couple sites I've looked at, blue jays are associated with Od, god of love and freya's husband. Gray jays (which I didn't know where a thing) are associated with Eir
HAIL THE GODS, HAIL THE FOLK! Thanks for sharing the knowledge about the old norse gods! ♥️ And the thing is that I cannot wait for the Freyja week, because she is my protector and highest goddess for me particularly ♥️
We had the exact same weather type here today in the Netherlands so I love seeing this video today :D I felt like Skadi wanted to pay us a quick visit again and also felt Freyr and Freyja
I lost it when you did a little salute to the plane >_< Great video it looks like you had to keep persisting with this one so I thank you for your work! I'm off to my outdoor alter today to give my first offering to Freya :)
Dude, if you’re out of Lexington, you’re an hour from me, I’d like to meet up, relatively new to the faith but watching your videos and listening to the podcast has definitely broadened my understanding and helped me in my faith a ton. Obviously I’ve done my own research through books and the internet, but I cannot stress how helpful you and those on the podcast have been. Many thanks brother

Ah Jacob my friend it appears your weather over there is just as unpredictable like a hormonal teenager as ours is here in the UK🤦🏿♀️😆 As a wiccan/pagan I've just celebrated my first Ostara two weeks ago understanding it was a sabbat (seasonal phase). I gained a much better appreciation towards the season of change than I ever have done when I used to follow the christian hear-say. By the way that craving is just brilliant. I love do love it when people take something mundane like a wooden post and turn it into art.👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I've often wondered why we celebrate Easter with eggs. It has always been my theory that it started as a Pagan tradition. My thought is that way back in the day, the "hunt" for wild eggs was born from necessity. It was also way to celebrate the Gods of spring as well as feast on the bounty of the land. I can picture the children of the Norse/Germanic tribes as they searched the river banks and woodland thicket for any eggs worthy of eating!
It snowed in Scotland today :) That's just a thing here though lol. There's a saying for it "Ne'er cast a clout till May's richt out" basically means don't get rid of your winter clothes until May is over :) This is my first Spring since following this path so I wasn't really sure? I did an offering for Freya, Idun and the Triple Goddess
The connection between Nordic Paganism & Christianity is so big that it feels like their stories were adapted from one another. Just like Odin wanting to feel like what it is to die as a mortal to the apple of immortality of Idunn, the stories connect with each other on another level.
The value of Jacob's content has not been for getting scholarly facts (go to Jackson Crawford's channel for that), but for getting a guide for beginners who, like I was, are overwhelmed with where to start with the day to day practice of paganism. Jacob helped me enormously in starting out. And even though I no longer consider myself a beginner, I still enjoy his content and his enthusiasm.
I honestly cant wait until winter and spring here.... its hot here in Australia and on top of that we are getting bombarded with bushfires and floods, and lockdowns. Skål from the other side of the pond you beautiful man!
Could seeing a crow regularly (occasionally two) be a sign from Odin? Not sure if its just a coincidence but Norse mythology caught my attention recently and I've been seeing this crow regularly for some time now and had somewhat of a weird experience with it yesterday, also just happened to stumble upon your channel the other day.
The last bit with your new shrine was fantastic, I think perhaps we all should take some time and effort to leave behind little shrines everywhere we go, should it feel right in the locations we choose. Maybe more will be nudged towards this path, or for those who are already on it, be pleasantly reminded they aren't alone.
Listening to the part where Freyja was still honored, even after Christianization reminded me of something I heard while I was doing ancestral work. What I was told is that my Swedish ancestors were Christians in the house and honored the old ways in the field. I have no way of proving that but what you said lends credence to it.
Loki was having a BLAST with you as you made this video :) Yeah that totem is totally Freyr. I would have had the same reaction as you...in fact...I am going to start carving small depictions of the gods, and I am going to put them on trails all over Milwaukee! If someone takes it home...that's fine :) But maybe other people in the know will see them and get excited, and I would be really happy about that!
@@csrencz6942 It's interesting really, our faith has laid dormant for years, and now many of our brothers and sisters are contacting and worshipping the gods. I wonder what they think to that. Soon we will be back where we were, and our knowledge will come back from the ashes.

Idunn is the first of the norse pantheon that I have set up an alter for. I have only had it for about eight weeks so I can't tell you honestly what working with her is like just yet.
When I consider that the translators of the bible chose to ignore the hebrew for passover ( pesach) and substitute Easter (the derivative of Ostara), it seems to lend weight to the Goddesses identification with the time of year! Wonderful exploration! Don't put yourself down. Our common journey is made that much fuller by your research and presentation! Peace and Love
Hi I have been watching your videos for a couple of days now and trying to establish my self as a new norse pagan but still don't know what I should all do.
One of the things I've found in my books on this subject is that the old Norse word for what Idunn gave to the Aesir was a general word "epli" that does not mean apple. Apples were introduced to Scandinavia in around the 1400s, so well after Christianity had taken over the lives of people there. What "epli" more accurately means is fruit or nut, so it's not likely that she had, in the original mythos, given this kind of fruit to the gods, as we think today. My belief is that Eve had an impact on how we think of Idunn today, so the association with apples almost seems natural to us, especially because they are so prolific.
