  • When I did the initial video for this ratchet driver, I neglected to show how it can work with various different extensions. I want to apologize for that. So this video highlights how you can use different multi tool extensions or regular extensions in this cool little ratchet driver.

Thanks for this video! I bought the ratchet today after watching the video yesterday...very happy with it...being able to use the bit extenders raises the ante for a more efficient use of this tool...

Excited to see your thoughts on the ICON set. It’s (imo) much more versatile that this tool.. I have both and I never use the Klein.

I sure wish the Icon set was readily available. It's not available online and my local HF is saying it won't be in stock until we'll onto the fall.

When I first bought the klein bit ratchet, the combination of spring clip, and magnetic retention was too strong, especially for the included low profile bits. After disassembling it to inspect the gear, the spring wasn't as strong anymore (guess it got stretched), but it became so much easier to remove the bits and still has a really strong retention. Great little ratchet.

I’ve often wondered about those Baby Klein ratchets . ATM , my mini Ratchet is the Wera . I can see where the finger ring might sometimes come in handy !

I have both the Klein tools bit driver here and the Icon adjustable head bit driver from harbor freight. Both are really good however for ease of use the Klein finger hole is a game changer. It also has a slight fidget factor as I like to spin it around my finger from time to time. I’ve heard of you over torque the Klein it will break, however haven’t had any issues with mine to this point.

I also took the bit extender from the Ozark Trail multiforce as it has a ball detent for added retention in the Klein ratchet, and can use the double sided bits from both leatherman and Wiha. Highly recommend this combo as a great edc ratchet set up.

FYI that flex head bit ratchet under the Icon brand from Harbor freight is made by a company called HI-FIVE in Taiwan.
They make all the bit ratchets marked reverse gear on the thumb wheel, flex head or otherwise.
Topeak, power torque, MAC, Blackhawk, FACOM, USAG, TOPTUL, DEEN, KS TOOL, WURTH, WERA, VIM, ICON, HUSKY, and the list goes on.
Even the one made to fit in the leatherman bit holder.
If your local Harbor freight has them in stock they're the best way to get the locking flex head version due to the price and lifetime warranty.
MAC sells just the ratchet for $60, and every other variant of the set if you can even get shold of these foreign brands in the US is priced between $75 -$95 depending on the brand place and time.
They're just not cheap , most of those sets do include sockets though.

    Thanks for sharing that ratchet.
I use the harbor freight Icon small kit bit.
The problem I got is my big hand. I use a different position grabbing the ratchet, my pinky is on the end of the handle and yhe thumb is pressing above the head to push the extension. In this position I can use one hand and doing a Faster job.
I have the eternal problem that putting pressure with yhe palm of my hand I move accidentally the direction tab. I haven't find a ratchet yet that still in place or have a different build. The icon helps a lot but I been moving accidentally the head swing bottom and it's annoying. My best is the prestacycle.
I need to try that klein but I had the feeling to move the outer ring, or maybe the top piece can separate to prevent movement. I need to try
I had a small pouch only with klein tools. My first tools ever, the journamen kit of lineman, cuttters and needle nose. More than 20yrs with me.
Ben check the Veto Pro pack

I just looked at them, very nice. I think I will end up purchasing one of those. Which one do you recommend to set up an electrical service bag?

    • @MIIIB
      @MIIIB 2 года назад

@@txtoolcrib if doing just a small pouch fwith basics tools and very easy movement take the MB3
If you need a tote bag with a bit of more space , having in floor, carrying with one hand and use with cord on shoulder, double side full open and quick access tool, take the TECH-MCT (my favorite).
If need a pack a bit larger than the MCT and you cna carry something on shoulders like a bag pa, the TECH PAC is nice. I have that one too and use for dedicated tools and in days to climb ladder, or simple need to walk quite a distance. You have a pac on shoulders with very good chest straps that help a lot to distribute the weight plus carrying the power tools bag or anything else.
I had too the contractor bag and it's nice.
What I like the most it's how heavy duty this bags are made, the best in market by far

    Hi mate,
Have you tried the duka RS1?
It's a modular aluminum 1/4" ratchet, I'm blown away by it, very very versatile, it's Chinese but the quality is OK.
And super affordable at around 20 usd.
One last thing that I like is that is rather light.

I hadn't considered how useful that finger ring would be, that looks awesome. Do you have any thoughts on how it would stack up to the Wera mini ratchet? That seems to be touted as the top of the line in this size range.

I would say test that tool to fail but considering how much you seem to enjoy it doubt you are very keen on purposely killing it for the sake of views.
