I've had mine from new for exactly a year. I bought it for it's fun value (I'm 64 and we already have a 'sensible car') so this is for my enjoyment whilst I'm still able to enjoy it. I really cannot fault mine, OK it's noisy, the suspension is stiff in sports mode and it is tiny but wow, what a ride, fast to put it mildly, breathtaking acceleration and very good brakes ( just as well because it certainly needs them !) and it sticks to the road on fast corners like glue (you can tell how well it corners just by glancing a the Geometer) Most certainly not a car to take on long drives with passengers, boot is tiny too bur if you want a serious fast micro supercar you won't find anything out there that's even close to the Abarth 595. I love mine.
"Pocket rocket" is the perfect description of this car! Had my comp for 3 years now and it still makes me smile like a lunatic. The second I heard its signature Monza growl I fell in love with it and bought it straight after the test drive. True its not exactly practical and its quite thirsty but its fun, turns heads and has very comfortable seats, as long as you're in the front. I'd say definitely get one as it works great as a daily runaround car. I saw those huge smiles when you put your foot down those come as standard with a comp! Great video JB!
Love mine, it’s not perfect but it’s Italian... that’s part of the love. Couple of things I’d add. Change the Pirelli tyres to Michelin PS4, the Pirelli are awful. Remap it, lower it with spacers and you’re good to go. Just such a fun little car to live with
The trim on Euro Abarths is so much nicer than here in the US. In fact, all 500 models sell slowly here, which is kind of sad because it is such a wonderful car. I enjoy my 2017 model, and you will enjoy yours. Well done.
I have had my 500 for about 2 years and im happy with it, its a great commuter car for work and college, and takes all kinds of weather like a champ, it even started when it was out for 3 days in the -27F (-32.8C for y'all EU folk)weather I had in Illinois. Although its not an 595(we don't get those in America anyways) , let alone even having a turbo but it is my favorite car I've onwned, my next will be an Abarth. Although they aren't perfect, they are preferably better than minis. Mainly because they are actually bigger than a mini.
In the past 25 years I've owned a lot of powerfull Italian cars with 5 cylinders (Fiat Coupé Turbo), 6 cylinders (Alfa 147 GTA) and even V8 (Ferrari 355 Spider, Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT and Maserati Grancabrio MC). All incredible cars but since we moved to the northern lake area of Italy, none of these cars would really suit me on the winding mountain roads. Therefore, I bought my self a 595C Competizione with performance package (with mechanical slip diff). As you've already pointed out, there are some amazing looking aspects like the steering wheel, the sabelt seats in alcantara, leather and carbon and the leaver in aluminium, in fact all the items you touch. All the other parts are really crap, with even the 500-badge on the dashboard panel. For me this was just an opportunity to get these others parts at the same quality level. So all plastics, both on the inside and the outside, have been replaced / covered with carbon fiber, leather and alcantara. The result you can see on my video : @. Afterwards, I changed the wheels (OZ Ultraleggera 18 inch in the same colour as the car) and added some colour on the outside (stickers and paint). Soon I will bring out a new video with the final result. All in all, this car is incredible fun to drive, with very limited consumption (between 7 and 9 liters each 100 km), limited road tax and limited service costs. And ... very important : now I don't have to worry any more when entering a narrow street or car park !!!
@@davidjeffcote6609 you can see the first results on my video ruclips.net/video/w4Uu9Q_Zqi8/видео.html. Soon, if covid permits, I will bring out a video with the final result
Even if it was offered in the states, it would barely sell. The American car market is going big in the crossover and pick-up truck segment. Which is really a depressing fact...
I don't have an Abarth, but with the n/a (I believe that's in the standard renegade) I get about 38 Mpg on a good tank. the turbos average about 35-33 mpg
I'm 6"4 and fit with about an inch headroom in an abarth that doesn't have the sunroof or the convertible. The sabelt seats give extra headroom too, they do also sell lowering brackets for the seats but find the seat adjusted all the way down is ok
@@James-kb5mx they can but I can feel their knees pressing against the back of the chair, I done a 4 hour drive on a bumpy motorway with a full car and it was okay. I'd say just go to your nearest dealer and sit in a few with the different specs. It's not a family car at all, but will get 4 people from A to B in reasonable comfort
Brilliant fun. I’ve just sold mine’s after 3 years. More fun than my Golf R estate before it. I’ve had a competizione back in 2014 from new and despite the driving position, its better than the Up Gti.
never saw anything about them stoping sales, the dealer my me has been selling them like hot cakes. Fiat are literaly everywhere now in Illinois. ill check the form to see of that's true and let you know
I've had one and sold it really not good, the quality is shocking the ride is too harsh every pothole crashes the hell out of the car, out in the country lanes I feel my Mini Coupe Cooper S John works is far superior the steering is quicker the suspension is way better the Handling is far superior. The Abarth needs at least 200bhp now but with the poor quality of the suspension and the steering I can see why they haven't done that Fiat need to step up..there's so many new hot hatches that are coming now Fiat really need to up their game
To all abarth fan boys and girls, when slagging off another car please remember that the build quality of abarths are worse than every other manufacturer, the rear brakes stick on and fiat will charge £900 to fix, the cam belt needs to be done at 40k and the tax on many more powerful, better driving cars is cheaper than this. It's a good car, but it's not amazing... Sorry guys
I would love to be given one for free I would happily take but would never spend a penny to get one of these, just not reliable enough it’s a fiat 500 at the end of the day and it’s a girls car 🤦🏻♂️
