Feel like resistance 3 review isn't out yet because resistance 2 broke him mentally and he's trying to avoid any more resistance, little does he know resistance 3 is genuinely good
It's actually because spyro reignited came out so I'm working on that, lol
Hale is not refusing to take inhibitor treatment, he just doesn't have time to. He needs specific treatment due to the "pure" strain he was inoculated with during Project Abraham. But he's too busy saving the world to go to a treatment facility.
When ordered to go to a treatment facility Hale doesn't say anything to the effect of "I refuse treatment," he says he has to track the chimeran fleet, stop Daedalus, rescue Malikov, etc. In the Chicago mission you even take a detour to a treatment facility, only to find it empty. So Hale was actively seeking treatment in that instance.
The actual plot of Resistance 2 is the best in the series, but only if you are a fan invested in the lore. The way the plot was presented in game was awful and confusing, and the characters were all really boring.
Not that Resistance 2 is a good game, the whole series was a bunch of wasted material. The alt history scenario really captured my imagination as a kid though and I know way too much about the lore.
deadass same, that alternate history got my imagination going back then. Yo this gonna sound crazy but your name sounds familiar. I vaguely recall talking to someone on the resistance forums many years back called Erin. Yo are you Erin Peterson or got an older sis?
I hate how after Halo every fps limited how many weapons you could carry. Sure it's more "realistic", but not every game needs to be that. Some are better just being unrealistic and fun.
I whole heartidly agree. In fact because of this trend this I have come to resent Halo because in all honestly the two weapon limit is not fun, never was fun and never will be fun because it restricts you far too much and prevents the player from experimenting with all the different types of weapons. If there is one thing that I hate in a video game especially in first person shooters it's being limited especially with how many weapons or items you can carry.
Now I'm not necessarily against a limit to the amount of weapons or items you can carry in a game, I'm just against a limit that is so small like the two weapon limit. If you're going to make a game and there has to be limit to how many weapons or items you can carry then at the very least just set the limit to four or six weapons. This limit would be so much better because the player can actually experiment and have more fun with all the weapons.
Or you know what better yet, allow the player to adjust in the settings of the game for how many weapons or items and how much ammunition they can carry with them at once. That would would better and make everyone happy.
Unrealistic and fun...yep miss games like that ✌️
@Brian Boulter i think it worked so well in Halo because it forced you to constantly scavenge for weapons, meaning that you were almost always using different weapons, which helped negate the two weapon limit.
halo would be too easy without a weapon limit, games attempted to copy it without realising why it worked, halo works around a rock, paper, scissors style of gameplay where certain guns work against certain enemies, combined with the scrappy combat it forced the player to adapt to the situation and combat encounter and experiment with different types of guns
Well it's a good thing Doom 2016 & Eternal said "fuck that! Here, carry as many weapons as you want." And I'm glad more games are starting to do that again.
fair points against the campaign, for me it was an okay campaign. however its a shame online isn't available anymore cause it was the most enjoyable aspect of this game. 30 vs 30 player skirmish and the 8 play co-op side story missions were ton of fun for me back in the day
Multiplayer for this game was awsome
“The swarm boss”
*Vietnam like flashbacks*
I hated that missions in bryce canyon it sucked
I loved this game but i respect your opinion
Always sucks when a game you loved as a kid isn't nearly as good as you remember it being.
At least the multiplayer is good - 64 player matches were awesome for its time, especially on a ps3 exclusive.
I loved this game as a kid, but I loved most games as a kid. God i used to be so full of love
The fov in this game is like you have one eye on your forehead
It is insane how quick you die in this game, it feels like playing a COD game on veteran difficult. haha
Personally, the only real problem i had with this game was the cheap deaths.
This is one of those games, once youve played it through a few times, its more enjoyable.
You complain that the original is set in a single country, but praise the sequel... for being in a single country :S
Were you expecting something else?
A few things.
1. I didn't complain that the first one was in a single country. I complained that it was brown and grey, likely because it was based in the UK.
2. The second one isn't in a single country. Even if it was, a country spanning across one coast of NA to the other makes for many more environments than just the UK.
You travel out of the country to Iceland
JarekTheGamingDragon Yeah, that makes sense. The developers obviously had no choice but to have a brown and grey game because it was set in the U.K. If I had a penny for every ignorant American....
@@MI2Dragon86 What if I told you that one of the first places I traveled to was London? What if I told you that my region of North america, the pacific northwest, has literally the same exact weather? Dark, cloudy, and rainy 9 months of the year. Every time someone tries to pull the "ignorant american" card they are far more ignorant than the person they're trying to insult.
I always hated resistance due to the "abilities" you get from becoming part chimera: you can now pick up health packs.
That's it. You dont control any different than before when you're a regular human, you dont get super jumps, super fast sprint speed, or increased damage resistance. I always thought that was just kind of lame considering how special they make you out to be. Like why even have the whole thing happen with hale if it really doesnt even mean anything?
the series sucked in general. Resistance 3 was good, but one good game out of 5 isn't a good sign
@@kingofmonsters14 well, 2 out of 5. Resistance retribution was good back on the psp.
I remember loving resistance 1 even with its flaws so when I brought this game home and played it for a few hours I put it down and only after a year I picked it up again to finish it and that's the last I ever played it. My buddy loved the multiplayer but the single player left such a sour taste in my mouth I never gave it a chance
Dude I can't believe you didn't mention those horrible fucking mermaid things that fuck you up if you go in water
I haven't done serious research into this, but it seems like there was this time from 2006-2010 where the PS3 exclusive games were getting ridiculously good reviews from critics that didn't feel deserved. I noticed because I used to read gameinformer at the time (stop laughing) and had a 360, and so many of the xbox games would get reviews 1 or 2 full points lower. Maybe the games weren't as good, but like, what about this one? Gameinformer hyped this one and fellated it so hard.
This game was all over the place. They wanted to do something cool but couldn't pull it off.
Man I wont never forgot the christmas 2008 when I got this game and...I was really dissapointed. Despite Resistance Fall of Man errors I really enjoyed. This game was just a big symptom of the fall of fps (the era of cod clones) I felt the campaing was too linear, weapons too blant and more codish.
PlayStation makes great single player games but they can’t make a good first person/MP shooter to save their lives.
2 things I'm not complaining about are how creative the weapons are and multiplayer
The FOV is abysmal. That's a game killer right from the get go. It doesn't matter how good it may look (it hasn't dated well). The lack of peripheral view and environmental awareness ruins any immersion.
I have an interesting history with these games. I played them a long time ago when a ps3 was all I had and I felt they were really good because I didn’t have anything to judge them against.
Years later, after getting several xboxes and playing many many other FPS games I recently tried going back and replaying them. The first one I actually really enjoyed. I loved the weapon wheel and yeah it was primitive in some ways and some of the encounters were a little frustrating, but I thought the firefights and encounters were normally really well balanced. The second one... not so much. I’ve been really disappointed in the second one. Like you I felt it fixed the few complaints I had with the first but then made terrible choices in level design. They were clearly trying to go for set piece spectacle rather than twitch shooter like the last one, and I feel that was a terrible choice. The levels are railroady and linear often corridor in nature and the cheap deaths are ten times worse than the first, minimum.
I am actually still getting some enjoyment out of the story, but still disappointed that it doesn’t play as well as I remember.
It should also be noted that the first one’s campaign coop was very welcome and the second one’s coop spec ops mode was the whole reason to own it. My brother and I sunk hours upon hours into co-oping spec ops mode online.
I don’t really remember the third game. I played it the least but I don’t think that was because it was bad at all, and they did add full campaign coop back into it.
Thanks to your videos, i have absolutely no incentive to buy the first 2 Resistance games to round out my PS3 library. The 3rd one is the only good one (still havent popped the Vita game into my Vita yet)
Resistance 2 fucked me up when I was a kid. A lot of those scenes stayed in my head for a long time
Let’s not forget that the enemies completely ignore your teammates to fuck ur shit up and ONLY U alone and it’s fucking annoying. I’m not the only one right ???
Omg I remember this game getting good reviews so I bought it and I played it so much but I HATED every second of it! I just couldn't wrap my head around how the game was such trash but got all those positive reviews so I kept playing thinking I wasn't getting it and at some point it would all click. Spoiler alert, it never did.
I genuinely got pissed off with how cheeky those two tank enemies were in the last clip you used in this review.
Ch. 4's swarm boss was easy compared to crossing the water in Ch. 5. Those chimera only spawned when you jumped into the drink. You aren't kidding about the cheap deaths.
Honestly your FPS reviews are the best on RUclips dude strait up.
I didn’t mind Resistance 1. Sure it was a halo clone mixed with a bit of Medal of Honor but I thought it was fun.
Resistance 2 sucked... it sucked so much
Hello. :-)
I fucking loved it lol
Got to be honest, never had a PS to play these, but got a PSP when I was Euro travelling, and had Resistance on that, I found it good for what it was, and the constraints of the PSP (one analogue stick, hmm). It compensated well with the auto aim, and targeting system, but I think it was still very clunky.
Resistance 2 had some great memorable moments but holy cow was there a lot of BS parts too
This is crazy man!
Resistance 2 is one of my favorite games of all time! And yet I loved your video and everything you said was right and on point. Didn’t change my mind about it tho
I always thought Resistance was a bit overrated in the early years of the PS3, but they really got it right with the 3rd game.
The story is better, gameplay is more satisfying & it's just a superior experience to the previous titles in every way.
I wanna defend this game because I liked it a lot when I played it as a kid, but I also haven’t even played it since those times. It’s prob awful
campaign is kinda weak but multiplayer was the shit and i still stand by that
This game totally had paid reviews. I use to write for Gamnesia for a little bit, and they were talking about how to spot if a reviewer actually played a game.
Long story short, this checks all the marks.
Still it’s a good series of games, it’s just that Insomniac should have improved more on the development while doing over the game before release.
a fun note about this game atleast eu version to my knowledge if you change language on your ps3 all ingame voices in res 2 turns to language you change to so if you choose french or german the npc speak German or french depending what language you changed too
"Graphics don't make a game fun sometimes"-Grade A Under A
Didn't have an issue with this game. Other than the cheap death the game was fine and the online was really fun. But other than that can understand your problems with the game
That Swarm Boss is the reason why I put this game down for years
I remember liking this game. I also remember it kicking my ass. I still have the series. I should give it another go. Except for the 1st game. That game kicks your ass plus it looks like shit. One thing I do remember is, feeling like I was really in alien war. It gets so intense.
I actually like the first game, but resisstance 2 sucks major ass. It has everything That I ditest about modern shooters such as uneeded 2 weapon limits, regenerative health, scripted events that pad out the game, etc.
Resisstance 3 though was a big improvement over it and is actually the best in the series.
Who the fuck lowers the fov for sprint? It's universally known that bigger fov males you feel more like you are moving hella fast
Love this game
I share your pain, Jarek. I liked the first game for what it was, a PS3 launch title. As for the third game, indeed is a much better game, but it still has some flaws, one of the was a poor PS Move implementation. Unpatched it clunky as heck, patched works better but you don't aim with the sights anymore. Killzone 3 came out months before Resistance 3, and it implemented PS Move well. PS Move, like Nintendo's Wiimote, might not be as good as keyboard+mouse, but it's a lot better than a standard controller. It's also a shame that all these PS3 exclusive shooters didn't even bother to implement sixaxis motion controlls fully for aiming. A great example of gamepad with motion sensor implemented properly on a shooter is Splatoon for the Wii U, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild, also for Wii U and Switch, or even Killzone: Mercenary for PS Vita. There's no bloody excuse other than being a buch of lazy wankers.
I remember really wanting to like this game when it came out. I just couldn’t
lol the first 3mins of the video you just described the movie edge of tomorrow xD! The whole antagonist been around but not seen and the attack in the last area xD! Did Tom cruise copied part of the story from this game instead of the original manga?
My only problem with game is that you can only two weapons at a time and regeneradable health.
I loved this game back in 2008 but I was like 10 so, damn.
Frootmyloops you were to young to my criticisms. As you play more and more games, you start to taste different varieties thus you begin to ask for more thus you understand that the games you played were not that good.
I bought a PS3 just for exclusives, God of War, Killzone, and the Resistance games. I never complained much of the first game because I played it on Easy after watching the other review by Jarek. It's an average game. Until I played Resistance 2 on so-called "Normal" difficulty. I thought the developers listened to the problems of the first game. Oh boy, this review proved how stupid the QA and the designer of this game thought this was fun to play through. Makes you want to punch the developers at the time for who approved this.
I vaguely remember liking Resistance 2 at the time in some places, but more often than not the game just annoyed me for its tediousness and unfair difficulties at times. At least with something like Halo on legendary or Dark Souls, they’re super hard but manageable if you learn how to react to enemies because they’re still predictable. This game had none of those difficulty caveats or fairness measures.
For some reason you complaining about these games is not annoying at all, it all makes sense! 😂😂 badass vids
I don't understand how this game got such good reviews. I hated playing through it.
Hot dang, Much brutal ;p
Insomniac trying their hands at an fps makes sense to me since the Ratchet & Clank games where all about guns combat wise and I think you could even turn on an option to play some of them in first person. Plus they did make Disruptor on the PS1 back in the day, though idk if it was good or not.
I didn't finish this even at the time of its release even though I finished the first one that said you really ought to finish the trilogy as the 3rd game I hear they managed to get the shooting down right
I vaguely remember playing this in online co-op and wasn't there some form of 'leveling up'? If that's the case, I'm leaning towards the fact that the difficulty may have been geared specifically towards that way of playing. Still doesn't forgive all its sins, and I didn't really get into it all that much, but somethin' to consider - If people still played it online, I might revisit it, but I (think) I heard they shut the servers down long ago...
The multiplayer was amazing tho
I'm kinda surprised how well-reviewed this one is on Metacritic, same with the first.
If you wanna play an resistance game, play the third one
I loved this game
I decided to pick this series up since each game was like 0.99$ but WOW THIS GAME SUCKS. I beat it because I thought it was alright at first and got far enough in it that I decided I may as well finish it. I don't know why anyone would play this game when there's so many other masterpieces on the PS3
Resistance is Insomniac's worst franchise, if you ask me.
Man do i miss this game
The running animation made me nauseous by the end of the game. So much shaking...
my pros: more colors
it has bosses
again awesome weapons (sawblade
No Co-op? There was an eight player Co-op campaign.
@@TheSunderingSea actually I wanted the story in coop like in re1 & re3
@@TheSunderingSea actually I wanted the story in coop like in re1 & re3
This game was honestly a mess. It was never fun to play and it felt so clunky. Every CoD/Halo released around those years felt like a masterpiece next to this.
At least the third one is better, although it lifts the journey from hl2
The Resistance games are my childhood but I understand they're a bit shit as the mechanics have not aged well but I enjoyed nonetheless.
I played Res 2 for the very first time on my friend's PS3, he showed it to me and I had no idea what was supposedly so special about it. It looked generic and played generic. Now I know it's was just shit.
It wasn't that bad but i can agree on most of your critisisms
The Chemira should instead experiment on their own DNA and clone their own military instead.
Do you understand the game's story?
I do on half of the series. It’s just that the other half is unrealistic and lack in some other atmosphere and tastes.
my buddy loved this game but i dont see why
Resistance is an inferior FPS compared to Half Life, Doom, etc, just my 2 cents, at the time xbox360 surpassed the ps3 at the time because it done FPS better in general compared to Ps3, I don't hate either console BTW, I'm aPC Gamer
the arsenal transition from fear 1 to fear 2 was strange as in fear 1 you can hold 3 weapons, fear 3 it was 4 weapons, now that may not seem to be but in a game that sort of spreads the weapon variation out so thinly, that means if you are smart, you will always have a launcher for the mechs and yes hte handgun was useless but that game's ending pisses me off and 3 only dive bombed but I can tell the devs wanted to end it all
This and the first are even to me the first is better mechanically this one is better by virtue of length / pacing (it's shorter, so even the bad parts go faster). Third game is still the best in the series (not saying much)
This was a franchise I never understood the appeal of. The first game is a full mess, and this really isn't much different. I remember buying it after I got a PS3 because there were so few games of interest on the platform, and it just wasn't fun.
Where is that outro song from it sounds familiar but I cant remember where it's from and its bugging me
Trying to finish the campaign, and it's been a chore, not enjoying it overall. I have little patience for cheap deaths
The good thing, Resistance 3 is a good game. ^^
to be honest i never the resistance series in the first place.. i did played the demo but it actually bored the hell out of me.. soo bored that i ended up deleting the demo after few moments
Fall of Man was fine, but R2 is pretty bad. The best part of it was the 8 player co-op. Resistance 3 is the best in the series, by far.
R3 sucked. Fewer enemy types, no story resolution, no coop, small multiplayer
Thank God someone else agrees with me. This game sucks balls and I genuinely had little enjoyment beating it
Hilarious beginning lol
I’ve been waiting to play this game for years and I finally bought it yesterday and it felt like a gears of war copy but way to hard. The fights were annoying more than anything and the story didn’t make scene. I feel like the trailers were better than the game actually was. After seeing the trailers i thought this game would be a horror shooter like the first one but overall improved, But I didn’t get that. What I got was so disappointing. There were some times where i thought wow this is great as it delivered what I expected but most of the time it was annoying and boring.
Your complaints with resistance remind me alot of my gripes with Uncharted, honestly the worst big budget series I've ever played. Curious what you'd think about those awful games.
Also I remember having good memories playing resistance 2 way back when but that's mainly with the co-op
I recently replayed through all the Uncharted's (Bar the first, fucken cannot stand its shit gameplay) and I completely understand what you mean. Uncharted 2 hasn't aged well at all, the end-game enemies are ridiculously OP even in normal and the only verified strategy is to keep moving. Uncharted 3 definitely improved the gunplay and I liked the story a lot more, but it still just feels... off. Uncharted 4 was honestly my favourite purely for story and character reasons, gunplay felt solid if not underappreciated in the grand scope of it.
I liked the games the first time I played through them, I resented 1+2 on repeated playthroughs. 3 holds up ok but 4 starts to lose me the longer I play it, it just drags out, and out of the 4 unique stories it just feels like the least spectacular.
“Brutal review” that’s funny
I'm playing through it for the first time now after seeing really good reviews for it. It's pretty average at best
I always heard the game was good. Huh
Brutal???
U r up for a good treat in resistance 3 , that will make up for all your anger in the first two
I played this game in like 2012. Was very boring. This game was probably decent when it first came out. People had lower expectations for an FPS.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who think I get melted, you take way to much damage even on normal and die so easily like the first game,
Sony fanboys really were in denial of the buyers remorse they convinced themselves that two of the shittiest fps's ever made were great and fun to play games.
Yeah looking back I totally regret buying my ps3, both of which broke down so I can't even play my library on them any more, not that I'd want to.
When Resistance 1 came out, there were really hardly any games besides other mediocre stuff like Motorstorm so I remember playing these games with a subconscious feeling of frustration for investing in this glorified blu ray player.
The whole thing was such a mediocre experience that it put me off console gaming forever.
Okay on the wikipedia page, I see this game got mostly 8s or higher. How on earth did that happen when the game is this bad?
Ratchet and Clank 3 is a better first person shooter than this entire franchise
Ratchet and clank isn't a FPS
@@frozenvoltz6739 thatsthejoke.3gp
RaC 3 actually had a first person mode. Go back and look in the options, it’s there.
What bothers me about the series is the story it self which is set in a dystopian-ish world where the good old Soviet Union is non-existent, JFK is know where to be found and no cheats like in the ratchet and clank series including resistance. No offense to Insomniac, this series should have been set in the 1960s during the Cold War era and perhaps NATO won the Korean War where our fellow characters served before the Chemira invaded earth. Now that’s my idea for a series to start of in Resistance: Fall of Man.
If this game is hard try resistance 3 that shit was hell for 13 year old me :))))
