    I love watching dave work on different guitars because he's a no nonsense or bullshit kinda guy and says what he thinks. Most of all though his videos are very informative and the repetitive nature of the work that he does is proof that guitars are relatively simple machines but require experience and a real knowledge of how everything works together to get one to play just right. Even though they're a relatively simple concept there are alot of variables. I've learned alot watching you dave, I've watched for like almost 5 years now and I never get bored...I'd actually ship you one of my guitars from Vancouver just to have you work on it and hopefully see it on a video!...and some folks might not know this about the man but alot of the work he does, especially for young and struggling musicians, he does as a favor to them because as he said in one video he remembers what it was like to be young and broke....you're a good man dave...

    I played fretless in college, we had a jazz workshop (NY) got to meet and play with some real heavyweights! Then I got offered a job in a rock band and had to SING HARMONY!! Goodbye fretless! Now I'm retired, no more band, just jammin'. Hello fretless again! I just love the nuance of tone. And Dave, I concur, Bill Lawrence pickups are 'da kind!!

    The Pow Pharaoh fingerboard looks alright with the three color sunburst. Kinda reddish, but that's ok. I'm thinking of getting a Player Jazz fretless, which would look a lot like this. I'd have to replace the white pick guard that comes on it with a tortoise shell, like this one.

  • @jonviol
    @jonviol 5 лет назад

    Yes ,but there is some genuine physics here ,or is it geometry ? A fret creates a clean 'break' angle so nothing hampers the free vibes downrange to the bridge . Just finger stopping lessens that to almost nothing so damping /rubbing the string down range from the stop is a reality . I adjust Double Basses which have gone muddy --all due to insufficient break angle from the finger stop and zero neck relief . Same for Precision/Jazz jobbies . Try it . Peace
    Yes and I do work hard -only watching silliness on UTUBE during tea breaks . Jonny

    Hello. Did you put a thin object between the neck and body to compansate the string height diffrence that caused by fret height? Or did you just assembled the neck straight on body?

    • @profile2047

  • @Ndlanding

    Why adjust the bridge before filing down the nut slots? Did you just forget? Oh, those nut-height doo-dahs look useful, but what if it's a rounded fingerboard? Do they tie-over and stay bent?

    I’m sorry I haven’t finished watching the video so maybe Dave mentioned; and maybe this is a stupid question, but why would someone buy a neck without frets instead of removing the existing frets out of the current neck and filling the holes in with resin?

    • @bassboye8959
      @bassboye8959 3 года назад

      I bought 2 squire basses, a jazz & a precision with intent of doing the jaco route. Yanking the frets & epoxy fill.
      Guitarist friends talked me out of it citing it'd mess with the truss rod. Glad I didn't and lucked into a fretless the month covid hit.
      I just learned how to shim the neck from Dave, so I can get the action lower.
      I've been playing well for 30 yrs. Thought I'd ace it. It's a bitch to learn, even with the fret marks & dots LOL. Really struggling with it.

  • @bpreece1
