    Love these videos, thanks for sharing. I'm assembling one of the pango lefty flying V's right now. It's in the style of a 1958 V so there are some quirks which were different for mine than with yours, but this is the first time I've done anything like this so your videos have been a good approximate guide for me, I've been working slowly through the prep stages and will be moving on to painting hopefully tomorrow, hope mine comes out half as nice as yours. Looking forward to the finishing video to see it all put together and set up.

      Just take the prep process slow. That is my biggest issue, just not going slow enough during the finish prep phase.

      Thanks Todd. Been playing it about a week now and am really impressed with the kit overall. I have a total of $295 wrapped up in it and it is well worth that. Gonna be even better once I do fret level, crown, and polish and swap out all the electronics. So pleased to get past 500! Hope to climb to 1K sooner rather then later!

    When I was a kid I used to collect the walnuts as they fell off the trees and while shelling them my hands used to get super stained until I started using rubber gloves, I got around to thinking about making a dye with some of the husks, I will soak them for a week or so in some IPA and stain some scrap pieces of wood and see if it is any good

    "Not perfect"....Are you kidding me?????? It's freaking beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
    Getting ready to pull the trigger here but I have so many concerns as to the "order" of prepping the body, neck, and back-such as what exactly do you use and in what order? Also, the wiring-I would want to update the pickups-not electrically inclined. and tuners. Other than that-That is one fine looking "V"

    Hi Bill, stewmac compounds are quite expensive for all of these- is there any other polishing options on amazon that would be okay? I'm seeing lots of automotive options just unsure if there is anything specific needed for each step of making the clear coat shine and pop. Thanks!

    • @billsguitargarage
      @billsguitargarage  Год назад

      There are several different products out there you can use. A lot will depend on the type of finish you apply. This on had an automotive 2K clear on it so it will withstand a heavier polishing compound then say a nitro lacquer would be able to withstand.

    • @jacobkitzy6188
      @jacobkitzy6188 Год назад

      @@billsguitargarage I bought the same clear coat 2k finish as you- should most any compounds be fine? Do you recommend multiple application levels medium ,fine ,etc

    • @billsguitargarage
      @billsguitargarage  Год назад

      @@jacobkitzy6188 Most compounds should be fine. There was enough in the can for 3 coats. I did the first lite/medium coat then the 2nd and 3rd coats were a bit more heavy. It depends on how well it level sands. Mine was good with just medium and fine. Didn't really need a heavy polish.

    I was recently looking at these in lefty. I noticed they had 2 different V’s. Took me a while of looking back and forth, trying to notice what was different. Only thing I noticed was one looked like a short neck tenon and one looked long. Does anybody know if these are supposed to represent different models?

    • @billsguitargarage
      @billsguitargarage  Год назад

      There are a couple variants, the one I got has more of an LP layout, one of the others has the traditional V layout. There is also a bolt on neck version. I didn't pay any attention to tenon length on the set neck kits. I high doubt that they are trying to present kits from different eras.
