I literally love Annie so much. She’s the smartest and she always keeps it real including when she beat up Reiner she kept it real the whole time at only being 11-13 years old at the time and saw right through the whole plan
I love Annie. And she is a very smart and capable character. I definitely want her on my squad. That being said, I honestly think Armin, Zeke, Erwin, or Pieck are smarter characters. Armin just doesn't have Annie's confidence. She's very smart and I honestly wish we got more of her throughout the series.
To be fair, if she was at liberio eren would have never gotten the Warhammer, or Armin would have never gotten the collosal. She's easily the second heaviest hitting offense in the show other then Armin
Erwin is incredibly intelligent, very insightful, charismatic, has excellent judgment and a great battle mind. Armin has both Erwins intellect and insight (reading bertoldts vulnerability during season 2) with the addition of creativity. Annie has Erwins judgement and a sharpened battle mind with the addition of perspective. (The perspective coming up in a much more literal sense from some info brought up just before the climax. It may be mentioned next episode). Annie and Armin Together not only create a powerful duo (literally), but also a slightly more specialized version of Erwin's mind more fit for the world they find themselves in (aot post basement). I think the only thing they don't have is his charisma, unless you count being absolutely adorable and charming to be charismatic💕💕 It's a really nice connection that is very, VERY, deep between the lines.
@@thon5941 well, that’s ur opinion, and in there opinion annie is the best for them, not sure why u had the need to say that peick was the best for u but okay you do you
Annie is like Eren if he was a cynic, she knows that humanity is corrupt but she doesn't want to change or do something about it, while Eren believes that there's hope after all
If it weren’t for that small small conversation from her Father expressing he cares right before she left, I think Annie definitely would’ve betrayed Bert and Reiner, eventually
There would be less casualties as well, as seen in the raid on trost she never murdered civilians, also in the door of hope S4 ep 3 we saw that Annie requested Reiner to not attack next wall, I think they could have captured Eren more easily with less casualties, but Reiner is more emotionaly strong so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why didn't you go into her actions and decisions in the OVA where she gets to the bottom of a kidnapping and murder plot all before she heads out on the expedition to capture? That OVA alone could cement her as most capable character. The OVA's are cannon btw, since the Ilse's Notebook OVA is referenced multiple times in the main episodes.
In season 1 she fought: Erwin's plan, aka the demon commander Armin's smart mouth Suicidal maniac eren Mikasa Ackermann Midget Ackermann I would say she's a survival maniac.
Another thing to add on to the scene with her and Hitch after the rumbling is how she left a trail of footprints to set up the ambush. That was brilliant
I've always notice that the eldians from marley had a more pragmatic approach in the later chapters. It seems that they were able to pick up the diff sides of war much quicker than those from SC. Hange and the gang came off a little too hypocritical and self-righteous imo (and understandable bec that's just human nature for you) with yelena pointing that out. As much as i like armin, hange, and levi, the death of erwin really caused a rift within their system. With armin and hange, while brilliant, tends to fall short on politics giving way to the yeagerists to have the upper hand later on. I mean, their side really became a mess in s4. Annie had a more realistic approach to things even while blunt. But given the situation, it is much better to be direct no matter how hurtful it could be.
There’s possibility that Reiner would die since Marcel sacrifice himself to save him. He probably be blamed for loss of the Jaw and Porco would probably inherit the armor before Reiner 13 years is up.Imo Reiner take a tough W for doing what he did.
I honestly think Annie was in denial that she wouldn’t be in trouble for having already failed the mission. If Reiner were to be in trouble so would herself and Bertholdt.
The smartest character of AoT should be Sasha but sadly she's gone. She might seemed goofy all the time but whenever shit goes down she's always the first to react. She KS'ed both Jean and Connie when they were trainees, she shot a hook to Samuel's calf, saving him from falling, she knew what the Female Titan's scream resembled, she detected incoming Titans at the fort, she paid attention to Annie knowing that Annie always eats alone, she decided not to risk her last arrow to stab the Titan in the eye, she covered Mikasa by shooting the man's gun, she reminded Connie to put up the lights, she drawn the Cart closer so Jean could have a better shot. And most of all somehow she managed to steal a big ass chunk of meat from her superior officers. You might argue it's Armin, I love Armin but he can only react if he has time to think. Samuel, Mikasa, Kaya, Jean, Connie and himself would have died 10 times over if it was him.
well sasha has great intuition, reacts well to her own instincts. which is why "smartest" is hard to say. characters like erwin, armin, ect are better at goal oriented thinking, and being about to plan everal steps ahead.
It's so frustrating to see so many people restricting Annie's character to "the cold-blooded psychopath that savagely killed hundreds of scouts" because that doesn't even scratch the surface of how complex she really is. If Marco's death scene and the Lost Girls OVA proved anything, it's that in no way does she enjoy murder and 100% does NOT want to be doing the things she's being forced to do. She tried stopping the mission multiple times, and ever since season 1, her mindset has been "I want to get things over with so I can return to my father" who, by the way, has been nothing but cruel to her until too late, yet she still craves fatherly love--proving that despite her seemingly cold demeanor, she's not heartless at all. What's also aggravating is that she gets more hate than Reiner and Bertholdt, despite the two of them having committed far worse crimes than she has (I think the hate is rooted in misogyny + how she doesn't sugarcoat things + people's tendency to bring her down to lift up Mikasa, but that's a whole other conversation lol). ~ As for her comeback in season 4, I think she has adjusted into the intelligent/pragmatic role of the squad really well (along with Armin but he's struggling a bit rn, understandably so). That being said, I was a bit underwhelmed that we didn't see Annie have a mental breakdown upon waking up (I know that sounds terrible, but hear me out lol). I just feel like it would've been great for her character to see her lose her cool over having wasted 4 whole years of her (short) life, and it would've added a lot to the whole tragic aspect of this show if they didn't choose to have her hear all the Armin updates. I was expecting more of a freak-out on her part, but hopefully they still show her inner turmoil + reaction to big events that took place (ex: Bert's death) in future episodes. Something else I'd be interested to see is her dad getting killed before she even gets to reunite with him. As depressing as it sounds, I think it'd be interesting to see a complete 180 in her character & motivations--a dramatic shift from the Annie who makes realistic decisions based on facts, to an Annie who is overwhelmed by emotions and breaks down into the vulnerable girl she never got to be.
honestly i agree with u on the misogyny bit LOL for some reason everyone's first point when they're explaining why they hate annie is "she killed a lot of people," and it's those same exact people that cheer eren on as he kills marleyans CONTINUOUSLY. i don't think she should have been petrified over the four year span and all the events during those four years, as she explained to hitch she is very much up to speed on everything as she could hear hitch and armin talking that whole time, and armin was basically giving her a 9 o'clock news show every now and then lmao. side note tho, have u read the manga by any chance? i would guess no seeing as how u are still looking forward for what they might do with annie next, but then again there are also people that have read the manga yet are hoping that the anime takes a different turn
@@ahmed-bw5mb I don’t know she literally woke up and threatened to kill mikasa and the squad so she can see her father everyone that has attacked paradis has shown remorse I found what she said around the campfire unnecessary because everyone already knew they would have to kill the yeagerist and eventually fight eren
I dont need to watch the video, i cant even believe that it is even a question, ofc she's the smartest character in aot, i remember reading the manga and reading the camp fire scene, and the scene before attacking Floch when he was with the Azumabito, and many other things and just realizing that in S1 she was mentally where everyone is in S4 , like... the woman is smart af, she could see that everyone just wanted to survive, in a way of saying it, she was able to see, comprehend and empathize with both sides, Marley and Eldia and just knowing is the same thing here and there, and as you said in the video, she was given what she was given and tried to do the best with what she had, i mean, Annie knew that war was just a waste, yeah she killed a lot of people and was part of it, but she only killed if the mission was gonna be compromise not just cause, she actually values life, there's an scene in S1 where she's fighting Eren and she fell in a church and killed the people in there, she didnt like it, you can see that as soon as that happens she tries to leave to avoid more unnecesary deaths, bc is just not worth it, i mean, what does killing everyone had to do with her finishing her mission? nothing, she was just doing the mission and that's it, but if you tried to get in the way ofc she would kill you, the woman is really pragmatic, but aside from that, that's why she apologize with a corpse and why she saved Connie and didnt want to kill Marco, not only bc they kinda became her friends but bc they didn't specifically or intentionally had anything to do with what they were doing in Eldia, so... yeah, she's actually, for me one of the smartest characters, AND the smartest character form Marley, and at the same time, all that bc she wanted to see her father, it wasnt even about Marley anymore for her.
Well, Annie still fell for Armin's plan. I think if she had turned into a titan and grabbed Eren when she and Armin and Mikasa had not yet reached the dungeon and had just started making their way through the Stohess, Annie could have successfully escaped by climbing over the wall. Even if Eren had turned, she would have easily defeated him, and there would have been no need to waste time searching for him in the tunnel, simultaneously fighting off scouts and later falling into Hanji's trap. Of course, this can be attributed to Annie's personal feelings for Armin. Since it was Armin who pressed them to convince Annie to go with him, saying that "I believe that there are no completely "bad people", because everything depends on the point of view. But you will become a bad person for me if you refuse me." But still, it was clearly a mistake.
With this it comes the part where he talks about her feeling guilty about the deaths and what Reiner made her do with Marcos gear, saving Connie and calling them friends, bc she actually did apreciate them, Annie is the smartest character bc she said it herself she noticed since she was in Eldia that there werent devils just people, yes it was a mistake but at the same time she was the one doing everything on the mission so she had to fail in something since she just couldn't be aware of everything.
@@justlikedonnie Yes, but it seems to me that Annie still recognizes Armin as a smarter person than she is. For example, in the last episode that came out, she asks him what kind of plan he can come up with in this situation, and I don't think she asks with mockery.
I love this comment, I'm also half you don't fall for the "eren so stromg 🥺🥺" Bs everyone else does. I'm very happy I found the actual mature side of the community !
I wouldn't say smartest. Her disillusionment allows her to be a sort of reality check to the other characters. In that sense, she reminds me of other characters from other series like Archer in fate/stay night ubw. A pragmatic.
Whether you see paradise the villains or Marley. After seeing Annie twirl her survey corps member by their odm gear for fun and taking pleasure in it. And having that intoxicated smile before going underground to be caught I don’t see how she could feel guilt for killing Marco. She’s irredeemable in my eyes. She didn’t kill cuz she had to she enjoyed it.
1) The twirling of that scout was clearly a stylistic choice by the animators to dehumanize the female titan so that the viewers don't figure out her identity too quickly 2) That "intoxicated smile" she had when Armin exposed her was confirmed by Isayama to be her losing her sanity. She laughed bc she felt relieved that she didn't have to fake anything anymore 3) In the Lost Girls OVA, you see how much Marco's death still haunts her.
sigh, why can't we have something like this: Annie: "I'm not the smart girl on this planet... but I'm DEFINITELY the Horniest!!! ;)" *jumps on Armin LOL
Annie suffers from being not likeable so she wasn't the favorite to trust in a position of power + I'm not sure how much male-oriented thinking there is in AOT world. It's not uncommon that the most equipped person to be in a leadership role gets passed up because of a popularity contest in promotions.
if someone like mikasa was there instead of annie, mikasa would be liked more. It's not male oriented thinking, annie is just too heartless and has rarely expressed grief at the killings (except marco) she did (and we didn't get a chance to either since she never got any payback for her killings) reiner has been beaten up so many times, got ptsd and suicidal bertholdt died wailing and struggling, but annie ? She never once got the karma for the killings she did, literally every other character while have killed, have had to pay the price for it while she remains unaffected and the fact She's just neutral and doesn't really care. Humans like emphatic creatures not cold blooded ones
Even though she is one of the 9 titan shifters, her character has stood out less than anyone else and hasn't had any big moment for her in a make or break since capturing her but she was the antagonist back then.
Annie's moves also served Eren in a lot of ways. She taught Eren a lot. And the fact that she managed to hold her own against the whole survey corp, Levi's squad, the Attack Titan (keep in mind, it was probably the first time she ever fought another titan unless they specifically trained in titan form back in Marley). She had to operate on her own under a lot of stress, quickly managed to get out of the traps, create a diversion - kill members of the survey corps with the ODM gear and then transform a second time into her titan. She also nearly escaped in the second fight against Eren while being exhausted from her previous fight, and she beat up Eren big time again. Her plan to retreat back home after losing the Jaw was more wise as Marley could've prepared a new operation and perhaps send Zeke much earlier - instead Marley was left in the dark for years believing to have lost all the titans. The several years which have been lost through this and the wars they got into against the Middle East (mostly due to the fact that they were thought to have lost the titans, if I remember correctly?). It definitely helped Paradis actually fight back for real.
Mikasa's words: "or do you have feelings for her" in stohess, Rainer's words: "so, who will you choose", as well as the peculiar fighting style of Annie and Eren, made us believe in the Annie-Eren-Mikas love triangle.
Annie is a keeper. That's all i want to say. Honest, Bold and don't want to fool around. That's the ideal girl you would want if you also don't like beating around bushes.
1) Annie was 16 in season one. 2) she was completely conscious and reflectively thinking and analyzing for 4 years straight so yeah she’s definitely one of the more cerebral characters
I cant take Zeke as the smartest when he got manipulated by Eren in the paths even when he held MUCH more power than Eren, possessing the ability to summon chains at any moment as he did prior.

Yes Annie killed people but she never killed civilians. Reiner and Bertholdt was reponsible for the civilian casualties in Shinganshina while the civilians in Stohess district died due to Eren's rampage. LMAO! How does an analysis on the intellect of Annie somehow turn into a dunk session on Reiner 🤣🤣
Keith Shadis observation on her during the training sums her personality: talented, quick on feet but prefers to be a lone wolf than a team mate.

I think the only thing they don't have is his charisma, unless you count being absolutely adorable and charming to be charismatic💕💕
It's a really nice connection that is very, VERY, deep between the lines.
I’m not forgetting about the comment about Hitch having a deep throat-y voice I just can’t get it out of my head
THESE AREN'T THE DROIDS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR, NITRAM.
Ah, yes... Best Girl Annie.
I am sorry but I have to say I personally think Pieck is Best Girl
You're acting pretty suss, sempai.
@@thon5941 well, that’s ur opinion, and in there opinion annie is the best for them, not sure why u had the need to say that peick was the best for u but okay you do you
Annie is like Eren if he was a cynic, she knows that humanity is corrupt but she doesn't want to change or do something about it, while Eren believes that there's hope after all
Most likely, this is Armin's way of thinking.
If it weren’t for that small small conversation from her Father expressing he cares right before she left, I think Annie definitely would’ve betrayed Bert and Reiner, eventually
yeah if only he didint apologies, i feel like annie would have definitely killed reiner and berth during the “choke out” scene
if Annie had led the warriors they could've captured Eren easily
There would be less casualties as well, as seen in the raid on trost she never murdered civilians, also in the door of hope S4 ep 3 we saw that Annie requested Reiner to not attack next wall, I think they could have captured Eren more easily with less casualties, but Reiner is more emotionaly strong so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@coltondraws6566WHY?
Why didn't you go into her actions and decisions in the OVA where she gets to the bottom of a kidnapping and murder plot all before she heads out on the expedition to capture? That OVA alone could cement her as most capable character.
The OVA's are cannon btw, since the Ilse's Notebook OVA is referenced multiple times in the main episodes.
In season 1 she fought:
Erwin's plan, aka the demon commander
Armin's smart mouth
Suicidal maniac eren
Mikasa Ackermann
Midget Ackermann
I would say she's a survival maniac.
Plot armour, if Levi hadn’t injured himself she woulda got packed up
@@Illu-is1qbцель Леви - не убийство титана, а захват Эрена.
I wouldn’t say smartest but she’s definitely the most aware
may i add shes the only shifter who defeated all three ackermans even if she did run away she still beat them
how did she beat them she just ran away
not really? she got absolutely trashed by levi, ran from kenny, and has never even fought mikasa (on screen)
Not really. Levi practically chomped her up. Kenny caught up to her and got the upper hand. Mikasa and Annie are equal in combat fighting.
How'd she beat them?💀
That doesn't make sense
This just shows that intelligence isnt a real thing and covers multiple skills. Sasha was the most in tune with her senses and had great intuition.
and she also heard gabi board their ship 🥲🥲
well sasha has great intuition, reacts well to her own instincts. which is why "smartest" is hard to say. characters like erwin, armin, ect are better at goal oriented thinking, and being about to plan everal steps ahead.
she’s strong and he has skills and battle IQ but i don’t think she’s generally the “smartest character”
"Smartest" probably isn't the most accurate word but she had great intuition
~
As for her comeback in season 4, I think she has adjusted into the intelligent/pragmatic role of the squad really well (along with Armin but he's struggling a bit rn, understandably so).
Well said..! That gives me a new perspective to look at..i think I will check out the Lost Girls OVA now..
honestly i agree with u on the misogyny bit LOL for some reason everyone's first point when they're explaining why they hate annie is "she killed a lot of people," and it's those same exact people that cheer eren on as he kills marleyans CONTINUOUSLY.
i don't think she should have been petrified over the four year span and all the events during those four years, as she explained to hitch she is very much up to speed on everything as she could hear hitch and armin talking that whole time, and armin was basically giving her a 9 o'clock news show every now and then lmao.
side note tho, have u read the manga by any chance? i would guess no seeing as how u are still looking forward for what they might do with annie next, but then again there are also people that have read the manga yet are hoping that the anime takes a different turn
Thank you for this
@@ahmed-bw5mb I don’t know she literally woke up and threatened to kill mikasa and the squad so she can see her father everyone that has attacked paradis has shown remorse I found what she said around the campfire unnecessary because everyone already knew they would have to kill the yeagerist and eventually fight eren
Why was she smiling and playing with the bodies of the dead scouts then, she was definitely getting some kind of enjoyment out of it
Berthold is really "the thing" XD he had one of the most powerful and deadly titan and what he did ? nothing...
Finallyy someone gets iittt
Yeah, she understands 85% of the morale of the story at ep 1
Piek would go into this category as well
Man, you roasting Berutoruto just makes me want a video on him more.
1) The twirling of that scout was clearly a stylistic choice by the animators to dehumanize the female titan so that the viewers don't figure out her identity too quickly
2) That "intoxicated smile" she had when Armin exposed her was confirmed by Isayama to be her losing her sanity. She laughed bc she felt relieved that she didn't have to fake anything anymore
3) In the Lost Girls OVA, you see how much Marco's death still haunts her.
sigh, why can't we have something like this:
Annie: "I'm not the smart girl on this planet... but I'm DEFINITELY the Horniest!!! ;)" *jumps on Armin LOL
Imagine Annie Reiner and “the thing” together in a university group assignment 🗿
Every tine I think of Annie, I think of that song Smooth Criminal. I hope Annie's okays.
Annie Leonhardto Queen 👸
WITCH
Even though she is one of the 9 titan shifters, her character has stood out less than anyone else and hasn't had any big moment for her in a make or break since capturing her but she was the antagonist back then.
her ova ep was amazing as well, deserved a spot on this video
Bruh you better watch how you talk about my boy Bertholdt!
For real tho Annie is great and I agree with a lot of the top comments
“The thing.”

She's definetely one of the smartest titan shifter, her lack is teamwork.
This is why she's my favorite character ❤️
1) Annie was 16 in season one. 2) she was completely conscious and reflectively thinking and analyzing for 4 years straight so yeah she’s definitely one of the more cerebral characters
Smartest character definitely not, there are several far above her, she is just pragmatic.

The smartest character would either be Zeke or Hanji. No one is smarter than them (besides maybe Eren cause he can see the future).
I cant take Zeke as the smartest when he got manipulated by Eren in the paths even when he held MUCH more power than Eren, possessing the ability to summon chains at any moment as he did prior.
@@sharkguy2340 It takes time to make those chains and it's Ymir that made them under Zeke's command. They don't appear out of thin air in the paths.
@@slenderontheblocksotb4524 The anime portrayal showed the moment the twist occurred, Zeke's chains vanished and erens appeared. If during that time the chains were being built prior and just not shown, my bad.
@@sharkguy2340 Zeke purposefully made his chains weak as opposed to Eren's chains. Speaking of which, Ymir put those chains on Eren while he was being distracted by Zeke.

Annie is not the smartest . In the attack on titan handbook , Isayama himself said that Zeke is the smartest Aot character followed by hange at 2nd and armin at and pieck at 3rd. (not too sure about pieck). Its just that Annie is very level headed and calm just like levi or Erwin.
Smart isn't linear bro
is levi level headed tho? i feel like he is very instinctually and emotionally driven.
Damn you REALLY don't like Berthold 😂
I still think Hange and Zeke are a bit above Annie in terms of intelligence

Yes Annie killed people but she never killed civilians. Reiner and Bertholdt was reponsible for the civilian casualties in Shinganshina while the civilians in Stohess district died due to Eren's rampage. Annie's way of killing may be brutal but unlike the Collosal and Armored Titans, she killed soldiers as humanly as possible because that's her forte. She is trained to killed in human ways. Reiner and Bertholdt killed more soldiers and civilians combined.
