Gone to seed means you've let yourself go, neglected yourself. I imagine it comes from root crops. If you don't harvest/eat them in time they 'go to seed' and start sprouting loads of stalks, flowers and eventually seeds.
Gone to/put out to pasture is the idiom I'd expect
entirely correct. Ive found tho, alot of things that throw to seed actually make really good leafy greens. better than spinach or lettuce. if you like that sort of thing. its complely not a a cabbage or turnip or carrot any more, but tasty veg is tasty. not something you can buy from a shop, but its gotta be good for you...
@@arjovenzia I currently have more than 100 really nice fragrant white roses outside my front door. Nothing to do with me, just letting things grow on their own. It's a climbing rose and it's used a 16ft hedge and a bit of wall to get that big, but yeah it's a bunch of 16ft high climbing roses, and they're ones that are really fragrant too.

How can you think Bill playing any music on an instrument is awkward? It’s super enjoyable and wonderful and could watch it for hours. Not awkward at all even for a talk show
The song he played in the final clip was Candle in the Wind by Elton John, the guest on the left of screen is Bernie Taupin, who wrote the lyrics to that song and a whole bunch of other Elton John songs during a very long collaboration.
The thing with the goose was that he was parked near the Queens house at 3am wrestling with something in his trunk. They probably thought he had a bomb or a gun.

Dax is the name of the symbiont so it's pretty accurate. Jadzia & then Ezri, were its hosts. The Deep Space 9 series bible describes it as resembling " a short fat snake".

"Gone to seed" basically means the same thing as "past your prime."
There are 2 reasons food can make you sleepy. 1: You ate too much (xmas dinner). 2: You ate a lot of protein/meat. A Beef Stroganoff made with chunks of beef can take a couple days to fully process.
It could easily have been an explosive goose . You can never be too sure.
I always piss off insomniacs by saying " just stay awake until you drop your phone a couple of times....then go to bed" youll sleep but youll feel like shit the next day 😸😴

Music with comedy is what Bill Bailey does and also playing about with music, playing pop songs on traditional instruments etc. I don't think it was awkward. Additionally, he was playing a song which Elton John wrote to the lyricist of that song.

We have the same thing in our family, me, my brothers, my mother, my cousin, my father, none of us can eat after 6 pm because if we lie down the food will come back up and we might choke.
I get the very strong feeling that the goose story has had morre than a little embellishment down the years.

I use to be able to eat and lie down, but the last few years I will start coughing and it can end up with me puking my dinner up.
It's because it was just outside Buckingham Palace. If it was in the countryside...i doubt peeps would've cared that much lol. He's used this in his stand up and if memory serves, sadly, he said the goose didn't make it.

I won’t lie down for 2 hours after a meal, digestion experts say you shouldn’t go to bed full of food, it makes me feel sick and l fear getting acid reflux. You can actually eat an apple though around 30 minutes before you go to bed and that is supposed to stop digestive problems and shockingly it does work. 😂❤❤

Saw Bill in Belfast back in 2019, and he played lots of Irish trad style music. And I feel like he played mandola even then (I've played one myself but play its smaller cousin the mandolin more). But maybe it was the bouzouki, a Greek instrument that looks and sounds very similar. This music makes me feel glad to be Irish

I'm 100% with you on that. I just feel uncomfortable. I don't get how people can do it. That's why you don't eat before you go to bed. Naturally your body's busy digesting and it keeps you awake. 😂

He was near a Royal residence, basically he was stopped by the Secret Service. I'm not sure how long ago Bill's story was, but there have been quite a few security breaches at Royal residences over the years.
Something similar happened to my brother in law, not involving a Goose. He was delivering something to Hereford in the UK and took a wrong turn down a country road. It's now fairly common knowledge but maybe not so much so at the time, but the SAS (Special Forces) have a base and train near Hereford. Basically he drove down this lane and suddenly 4 armed soldiers just appeared in front of him with guns trained on him.

Yep, cannot lie down for at least 3 hours after eating. I sometimes fall asleep unintentionally on a chair after a meal, but never horizontally. Terrible reflux.

I had a similar experience to bill involving the police.
When I was a security officer at oxford university we had some terrorists threats. Some of the more prominent buildings could've been targets and the boat houses were on the list. So, about 2am my partner and I were walking along the footpath of the Thames to check out said boat houses and it was really quiet when suddenly a guy jumped out of the bushes. My reflexes kicked in and I punched the guy hard on the nose, knocking him to the ground. We were suddenly confronted by 3 policemen who realised that we were security officers and they burst out laughing.
I nearly shat myself.
Although I'd given the policeman a bloody nose he shook my hand and said that it was way to embarrassing to report.
On the next shift i went to my locker to find the name on the door had been changed to "J Chan".
And weeks of pranks followed.

The guy at the end "Bernie" is Bernie Taupin. He wrote most of Elton Johns music, either on his own or with Elton.
If you eat before sleep, lie on your left. Lying on your right side tends to cause valve issues and reflux.
With reference to the goose story, in the early nineties there was a mortar attack on Downing Street by the IRA. They parked up a short distance away and fired from inside a van. Given The Mall is just down from Buckingham Palace, the police in the area will be interested in any vehicles stopping, especially if someone is fiddling around in the boot of their car.

Euh... the goose thing happened in front of Buckingham Palace. That's where the British Monarch lives when they are in London. Of course there's gonna be security there that jumps at anything weird going on.
I used to be able to eat then go straight to bed but I tend to get acid reflux now. I can sleep on the couch after a hefty meal though. If you don’t get sleepy after a meal then its not a big meal. Has to be a LARGE meal to get you sleepy and full of carbs as well probably.

After the security guy said stand down, Bill and his wife took the goose to a nearby animal hospital. That is all we know, as they then went home, and Bill and the goose subsequently lost touch.

Sounds like you might have a reflux issue, if food comes back up when you lie down. It's likely that the lower sphincter that closes off your stomach from your esophagus doesn't close properly. This is not an uncommon thing, so no need to feel alone.
This can be surgically corrected. Not to frighten you, but it's something you should consider asking your doctor about, because untreated chronic reflux can potentially lead to esophageal cancer in the long run, and short term can cause a persistent cough.

You should watch a show called “TV heaven telly hell”, it’s a show that Sean Lock hosted & he gets his comedian friends on to talk about their favourite and least favourite TV shows. The episode with Bill is particularly brilliant because they’ve clearly given Bill a lot of alcohol and cannabis before filming, it’s fucking hilarious!
