- Rise of the Ronin is the new PS5 exclusive and its definitely a Team Ninja game for better or worse. I think it sets a solid foundation and proves that Team Ninja's gameplay mechanics can mesh well in an open world.

I think the combat is more fun in Rise of the Ronin, but you've gotta be fucking joking if you think it's "more realistic" lmao.
There are martial skills in Rise that allow you to literally teleport, make temporary shadow clones of yourself, etc. Not to mention even basic enemies can just tank several unblocked sword strikes, whereas Ghost at least has the "lethal mode" where enemies (and the player) can die in 1 or 2 hits. Neither game is all that realistic, but Ghost is definitely a lot closer to that than Rise is
They delivered very well imo. Incredibly fun game. 35 hours so far 👌
It delivered and then some. Over-delivered even. I am enjoying this game immensely. Perhaps the most of any game I've played. And for once I don't have to follow a RUclips walkthrough to navigate the game and get stuff. 15/10. Game of the Year.
The truth will come out and we’ll see the biggest u turn in gaming history. 15 hours or less is what I think the majority of reviewers did which is no where near enough since technically in order to actually increase skill, get weapons, open new relationships, get exquisite gear and armor. They never mention the extremely vast weapon skins, armor or stances/styles.

40 hours and finished the game. Absolutely loved it for its highs and lows. The upgrade from Woo Long to RoR is def noticeable. If they can get the open world stuff done right then in the next games we would be so lucky

I hesitated for a few days before purchasing the game because of the polarizing reviews.
The game is awesome!
I just wish it ran at a fluid and locked 60 FPS. Sometimes the frame rate drops and stuttering can be distracting and take away from the experience.
It does they didn’t publicize the patch since it dropped the same day Dragons Dogwater max 30fps patch dropped
15 hrs is not nearly enough time to review it in my opinion you should play more of the game, it’s awesome!
I’ve loved it so far played 20 something hours so far it’s a far more chill game but definitely enjoyable for me

Nioh 2 is still the best game ever
Unfortunately, nioh 2 was too restrictive in build design, it forced you to play a certain way depending on which attributes you decided to increase, at least in rise of the ronin I can use any weapon without having to respec every time, while I did prefer the art style in nioh 2 I think RotR has much better combat

I feel some of the parrying they made it way crazier than most enemies attack 100 times to your 3 and never run out of stamina
I find The parrying in this game is much easier than prior team ninja games, the enemies attacks are much more predictable because this is the first realistic team ninja action RPG and all the enemies are human, there are much less delayed attacks compared to nioh 2, SoP and wo long
@mathewhosier9739 maybe I'm use to the big flashy signs I been getting better at it but sometimes I feel the movement are erratic or the bosses just spam there big hit moves back to back
Is it possible to have damage numbers and overgear enemy encounters like nioh ? Wu long did it poorly , but it was fun to see how high an iai quickdraw could crit a frog from behind in nioh :)
You do have that option to see damage numbers. And with all of the different enemy encounters in the open world you can end up being more powerful when fighting certain enemies.
Yes also enable auto pick up so u loot faster
I gonna get hate for this but I like rise of the ronin more then ghost of Tsushima. I like the fact that you choose what type person you want your character to be in terms of choices or even appearance. your treated like any other ronin which leave more room for forging your play style
I don't really feel hate but to me it's more like Nioh 3.0 without demons.

Tsushima was overrated, yeah it's a good game with beautiful scenery and decent gameplay, but it can't compete on the level of RDR2 or TW3 or ER, so RotR can compete with GoT because both of them are generic open world games with decent gameplay, decent visuals, and a medium story & narrative.
@ammarhdeib honestly rise plays much better than any of the games you mentioned with a better open world than at least ER. But this is coming from someone whose played basically every fs game to 100%. The depth ain't there

@pixelatedthoughts I'm trash with parry so I'm just assassinating n sniping mostly n those are fun. Glider n chain assassinations are incredibly fun for me
I can't say if they delivered or not it's been years since I've played a team ninja game and I haven't played this one yet but have purchased it I just need to find time to play it. but this review earned a like and my subscription because u love people who are honest and tell the truth no matter the cost.
Nice video. I'm not a huge team ninja fan, more of a Fromsoft fan and I love this game. 40+ hours in now and I love the questing, combat and just the OCD map clearing is doing it for me also. I will go back at some point and play with new weapons and make new decisions. Also love the banging japanese chick simulator aspects. :)

The blood and gore finishers are pure Ninja Gaiden.
I love this game. Honestly team ninja did exactly what AC was missing. Fun traversing and challenging combat. The story isn’t as good as AC but I am happy with this game. I like it more than DD2

Lol that's ok, I like the fact that Team Ninja wanted Rise of the Ronin to be accessible.
The performance is within the 48fps VRR range, its a non issue ppl use as an excuse to bash the game
You want more threatening and rewarding beat the game and begin its NG+ “midnight mode” there’s a new gear and item rarity all the chests are refilled throughout the world and you can replay chapters for better rewards and finish bonds etc. all fugitives and public orders now have bosses and past ally’s form the main game in them and the difficulty is absolutely unhinged borderline unplayable.
100 hours in and I just want to say I love this game, no game beats it it's the best I have seen so far on PS5 🥴
Farming money and materials is extremely easy in this game, if you want to use specific gear then upgrading is not an issue

The main turn off for me and my little brother was the multiplayer, they have open world but only lock the multiplayer to the missions you get in the game and honestly it’s so disappointing cause I always wanted a Ghost of Tsushima coop but seeing how they played it safe by keeping on the missions is a missed opportunity, but comparing Team ninjas latest games multiplayer is far better than all souls games cause I feel like a coop not summoning someone to go so far
I'm fairly certain that Team Ninja will think about in the future. A co-op samurai game would be fantastic.
@@pixelatedthoughts indeed! The ghost of Tsushima coop was amazing but what killed it for me was the classes being armored lock ( not like that stopped me cause I milk that game) still very fun and amazing possibilities, I wonder why no one’s tried it with knight games
I personally enjoy nioh better. I love the stealth, but man they need to update their engine. You can play nioh 2 on ps5 and it looks almost better because nioh has incredible colors. The game plays well don't get me wrong but we have all done this 3 to 4 times now. They need to step it up on their next ip.
Umm, you didnt mention the huge upgrade to their foliage system that uses similar tech to GOT which essentially gives it some of the best most dense looking grass and foliage I've seen in a game, certainly superior to Nioh.

I completely disagree about the loot system, i love it, it reminds me of my favorite games like diablo 3, borderlands 3, outriders and of course every previous team ninja action RPG, random loot just works better than traditional equipment in action RPGs, theres something about traditional equipment that just bores me, you get the same weapons the same way everytime you play, but with random loot it add variety and makes your gear progression more unpredictable and more diverse, its just a good system, theres no such thing as too much loot in a RPG
This is a really dope and fair review about this game, everyone keeps bashing this game and to me in looks ridiculously fun. I may be biased because I’m a sucker for Japanese Samurai games, GOT, Sekiro, they all have their strengths that separate them from apart from each other. Looks like I’ll be definitely picking this one up too.

Loved this game but Team Ninja, please, please when you next make a large open world, REMOVE the markers, REMOVE the TOWERS, stop selling youself short and actually put some effort into making the world something you EXPLORE.
Give it secrets, make me look at the map the same way a FROMSOFT game does, please you NEED to understand that the biggest failure of games with large maps/worlds is that they don't know how to make you explore them, instead they teach you to ignore the map by developing a system that has you follow bloody markers, it destroys exploration, it incentivizes you to not "look" atthings the way a human being normally looks at things...
Team Ninja is a story of love and hate, I play "Nioh 1", I don't like it, I play "Nioh 2", and I can tell is one of THE GREATEST GAMES IN HISTORY, easy compete with any FromSoftware game and makes the supposed difficulty of those games look like child's play. Nioh 2 the masterpiece of Team Ninja to this day.
I play "Wo Long Fallen Dynasty", I totally hate it, with an artificial difficulty too unnecessary, a lot of troubles, bad decisions, and at the end of the day, this game really was a minor clone of the immense Nioh 2 (the only thing that I rescue was the first fight with Lu Bu, one of the best in any souls game)
"Rise of the Ronin", SUPERB, one of the greatest games of 2024, is way better that Wo Long, but not even close to being the shadow of Nioh 2. The combat and difficulty in "Twilight" from the middle of the game to end game, is extreme and things can even become masochistic, and it is clear that for many people it will be too much for them.
I who have played Nioh 2 for 4 years without stopping (alternating other parallel games along the way of course), ROTR Twilight, it is costing me, but I mean, if you can with Nioh 2, and its levels 21-30 from "Depths of the Underworld" (place that any Team Ninja follower knows, are ultra extreme and you can be one shoot you very easily there), then is possible the hardest combat here, and even enjoyable.
It will have its details here and there, but overall it's one of the BEST GAMES OF 2024 already and it's no surprise, I expected nothing less from it and it doesn't disappoint, totally delivers, for those who can only see the visuals and the LIE, TALL TALE of PS3 graphics bullshit, I feel sorry for them, they are not even gamers, go somewhere else, and let grownups play.

I also have a love hate relationship with Team Ninja. I still have nightmares from the first DLC from Nioh because those bosses were insane. I think ROTR has more than enough to keep me entertained. I'm enjoying every boss fight so far.

True mate, Twilight is the only option but fair play putting in an easy mode for the likes of IGN and Kotaku hactivists, they should be locked into twilight mode, also if it sells more and we get a sequel then the easy mode, can't remember what its called, Dawn maybe but I think players are doing themselves a disservice by going easy, not the way it is meant to be played imo, same with Deadspace, whats the point of playing if you can just walk through enemies, maybe its just people like us who like the harder games, you probably already played it but cannot recommend Lies of P and Armoured Core 6 more all the best from Ireland fellow gamer, just hoping for a Bloodbourne 2 or even a 60fps unlock for 1, again maybe it's just gamers like us, Ninja Gaiden and Nioh are classics and no one goes into a Team Ninja game expecting 'amazing graphics' just deep combat systems, take care brother, people saying this "looks like a PS3 game" are just people who will play a bag of 💩 just because it's pretty, I like nice graphics as I'm sure you do but gameplay is king, any recommendations mate? Oh, Pacific Drive is a great game, normally I don't like these grindy 'survival' games but this game has something, The Invincible is also a great game, not hard just different and in this day and age of constant woke sequels it's a breath of fresh air as is Outcast, AA devs bringing it this gen.
I've been playing on twilight as well and honestly it isn't that bad. Well except for the fugitive with the great sword who is asleep in Yokohama. I died so many times on him.

I think you NAILED this game as a whole. I platinum this game and had a BLAST and still playing it. For folks who want an even better challenge try MIDNIGHT MODE . Folks this is TEAM NINJA not FROMSOFTWARE or Naughty Dog. Sorry Ghost I like this better( STYLE POINTS and Flair for days )
People don't understand team ninja games because they're videogames. The nolifes want to have simulators of life, not videogames; for them it will never be good enough.
A single high quality character model costs $500 to produce for a solo dev; considering the amount of character models alone in this game all of them made from scratch (not like elden ring that reussed assets as much as possible) I'd say $70 for this game is a steal, as opposed to elden ring which was a scam at $70.
In team ninja games you pay for the combat system, which is unique to the game and will never be in any other game; unlike fromsoft's dodge and spam simulators, team ninja actually develops a completely unique combat system for every new IP they make.
You definitely didn’t play elden ring name a game with more bosses and enemy types i’ll wait I get that you like this game I do too but there is no need to cap about elden ring cause you definitely cant name another game with over a hundred bosses 🤦🏽♂️😭
