I found one of these grinders in very good condition at a local Goodwill for only $9.99! Looks like they either hardly used it or kept it in really good shape. I also have a larger grinder but I like to use the little one cause it fits better on my table.
I've used my grinder a few times, and didn't like how the chips kinda fly up, so I made a guard from 1/2 inch pvc and an 8×10 inch piece of plexiglass. Absolutely love the performance of the grinder, quiet, easily stored, powerful, and a 5 year warranty.
Hi! Thank you for your videos. This is the grinder I’ve been using and I love it, it works great. I cut the sponge in half, it does not need to be this long.
Do not take grinder to the sink and pour water directly down on it for cleaning. I know it's small and light but you don't want water following down the shaft and getting into the motor...wipe it out.
If these are the same dc motors as what is in my rc stuff water wont hurt them. A good idea for any motor around water is to spray it with Corrosion-X every few months or if you think it got wet. I have ran dc motors fully submerged and it was part of the break in on the old brushed motors as it kept the old brushed motors from overheating as it kept the brushes cool until they formed to the shaft. Obviously you should not submerge anything plugged into a wall socket this was for battery powered set ups that did not have the AC to DC transformer inside them those getting wet would be very bad were it still plugged in. I would love to see inside one of these at the guts. I bet I could make my own grinder that would be nicer than anything I can buy. I need to see the internals and or motor specs first though.
Unfortunately the cheapest Inland grinder is now 180 before the discount.... so it's definitely not in my budget currently, so thankyou for reviewing an alternative
Having a problem where the pegs on the guard are simply too big to be attached to the grinder. Did you do any magic to get the grinder guard on, or did Gryphette possibly box a larger guard for a different model in or package?
This is the grinder I use and my biggest complaint is the weird sponge placement. I hate having the shimmy it in sideways. But its worked for all my projects.
I've been using this one for about 8 months and it's awesome. Definitely lived up to it's positive reviews. I have multiple grinding bits now in various grits and to change them out is SUPER easy! I'm really hard on my tools and equipment (mostly because of my ADHD), so for the abuse I've given it, it's absolutely amazing! Oh and I think you're supposed to leave the plastic cap on the top of the bit.. I think it's a safety feature. At least the instructions that came with my change out bits said to replace it when I changed it out. I will also say I wear gloves when I grind my glass and I feel like if I didn't have that plastic cap on there it would have grabbed my gloves and done quite a bit of damage. The top of the bits left exposed are really sharp like a knife (much different than the face of the bit) so be very careful if you leave it off.
Gryphon motors are of the most powerful in the industry. You absolutely want a fuse in any grinder to avoid motor damage that can occur for several reasons.
Hello❤️ could you give a review on a glass grinder i saw on web? Which is from china and it is so cheap (it doesn't have a brand name, and its 220v red and blue colored grinder) , i am curious if that can also be recommended🤔 i know it is from china and cheapest among other grinders, can't help my curiosity😅 hope you can help me discover on it❤️ and also another question, does all grinders can use other bits from another brand/manufacturer? Do they have the same sizes? And how much does ur bits last long? Sorry if i ask too many questions😅 I'm interested in stained glass art but it's SO PRICEY for a hobby hahahaha
Most grinders use the same size bits and they last a very long time. You might not need to change it for years, depending on how much you use it of course. A good grinder will cost at least $100+ and I don't know if I would trust one that is cheaper and not know how dependable it is. There aren't many grinders around so if you go cheap, it will probably be a gamble.
@@StainedGlassDIY love to know your thoughts, and surely will try to have branded grinders that are dependable, seems i need to earn before getting into a new hobby hahaha
I’ve been looking at grinders and was thinking The Grinder might be the best one. Is there any way you could review it please? This is the link to the grinder: www.delphiglass.com/grinders-accessories/glass-grinders/the-grinder
Seems like a real dum idea to design something that doesn’t have a removable tray to dump water out. It’s not gonna be that difficult to spill water on the cable. Plus it’s heavier to dump water out at all because you have to carry the whole machine with you. And I don’t think you can dump it down a drain. You’d have to dump it outside right? If that’s the case then if it’s a long trek for you to dump out the old water, then that’s more potential accidents. I guess having a bucket to dump the water out when you’re working nearby is an option. But even with that you can still spill water on it. I am far too clumsy to be trusted with it so maybe the baby gryphon should be trusted to people more coordinating then me😹
I have used this grinder for all of my projects during the last year! It has worked great!
I just bought this grinder thanks for the information great help
Just bought this a week ago, first grinder. Very happy with it.
Excellent choice!
I'm a beginner and just purchased this grinder. Thanks for the review.
I've been using the gryphette for a few months now and it's great. I had no idea what the fuse was for so thanks for that!

Lucky you!! I like the small size too.

Thank you! I figured it was a ridiculous length.
Can you use any type of sponge or do they make replacements?
@@sherrimayhew7089 Hi. You can cut any sponge to fit, the type that retains a lot of liquid would be best type of sponge.
@@irisbrouillard9728 thanks so much!
Very nice demo and explanations
Thanks for showing us this one. In my price range!

Fold the sponge in half and shove it behind the bit.
When I used mine for the first time it was chipping my glass no matter how wet the bit was. How can I get it to work better?

Sponge is weird and old tech. The Grinder has a brush but like $350 😭
Great video, thank you!
How much does this machine cost and are there any in Dubai?

Oops it's gone now. I'll be careful, thanks.
If they give you a spare fuse, it might be pointing to a weak motor.

Hope all was well just curious is you had any coupon codes for your website
Hi! No coupon codes at this time sorry.

But dude, you totally compared apples to oranges. The Gryphon Studio Grinder would have been more compable. Nice try though. 🤷♀️

I bought this grinder last month, then I forget to put water in.. it is broken after a few minutes. By the way it's great grinder :-)
