Throwback Thursday NIB Hoover S1015 Hoover Portapower

- Another old video found in my archives featuring a new in the box American made Hoover Portapower from the early 80s. The video is overly long, probably by about 20 minutes, as I spend ages admiring, stroking, sniffing and uttering sweet nothings to this compact little vacuum. So only watch if you like long chatty videos that go off subject, or have your finger ready to skip through all the boring bits.

So great to find a new upload from you Roger! Thank you for this video! I may be wrong, but I think that this particular Hoover hose was called a "Tufflex" hose in North America. Later PortaPowers sported a metal tool holder on one side, and large wheels on the rear end so it could roll along like a larger canister cleaner.
Just been given one of these in very grubby condition but working. Lovely little hoover :) Thanks for the video Mr Hoover man !
My dad got our Portapower S1015 direct from Hoover who he worked . for. The one you have is the same as the one we had and had an identical hose and tools. It came out in the late 1970s. Your is July 1981.
I remember my Grandmonther having one, brings back a lot of happy memories

Me too! Just about to do inside my car with it after my wife dug it out to house clean yesterday. One of the best things I ever bought. So compact, easy to handle and SO poweful - the reason I bought it. USA-made, of course, not far-Eastern junk like most appliences today. "Built up to a standard and not down to a price" - feel about it. I am in my mid-70's and hope it lasts me out!
OOOPS! Face accidentaly showing @23.8, complete with beard! Just to to say that is a great vaccuum, one having served us well since the early 80's. Compact, reliable, powerful, easy to handle. What else can I say? Just cleaned my car our with it today, hence me discovering this video seeking a replacement brush. I see they are availavle, in fact, every part, albeit from the USA.
I would certainly pay £80, even more, if it finally gave up the ghost and I could find another. Btw, our narrow attachment (for down seat edges, etc) does have a 'pip' on it to keep it in place and does not have the decorative multi-groove down its side as your does. Happy vacuuming!

Hello from Canada I love your videos Roger im a big fan of yours this particular video was nostalgic forme as this verry model porta power was the first Hoover I encountered as a child and if I had found a new one I would have also taken a moment to smell it because that is as close to time travel as it gets a great video as always!

Wow, Roger... this model S1015 was the first Portapower we Yanks ever had, but the color scheme was different on ours (streaks of red and blue).

Hi...I have just obtained a S1126 Portapower like yours, but the filter in the "blow" end has completely disintegrated. You mentioned you used an aquarium filter to replace yours...when cut to size. Would you know the details of this filter so I can source one please ? Thanks ! Derek UK
Any will do, just make sure it’s not too thick. Just cut to size and use a bit of glue down the middle of the grill to secure the filter in place.
Hi..Thanks for the reply. But I have absolutely no idea what an aquarium filter IS ? I have never owned Tropical Fish or ever been inside an Aquarium shop ! So what do I ask for and have you any idea how much they cost please ? Thanks !
I have never been inside an aquarium shop either. you could always search the internet for universal vacuum filter and you’ll see plenty. Just cut them to fit.
