Ha!
Ain't no lie there.

Exactly! Finally somebody gets it!😎👊
As the owner of a couple .308's I appreciate this content. 👏☠️
Appreciate you checkin it out, my friend.😎👊
Nice Rifle. The disruption from the Gold Dot was really impressive. Damage to ballistics gel can be misleading but that was still impressive.
I'd imagine a 110 grain V-Max from a 308 rifle would be near explosive on impact.
Definitely makin some gut soup.
At one point the TSWG was developing a load I guess for counter terror usage that had a 155 Hornady BTHP for the SCAR-H. There were some representative drawings of the performance in gel and I believe it was pretty good. Probably what I would load a 7.62 gas gun for for general purpose 👍🏻
I been pushin the 110 v max test…find the vid in 8541tacticals archive of John talkin bout a 110gr tap round used in a headshot le situation and it not exiting….
@@charlesmullins3238 It’s cool because if you think about it, it’s basically the equivalent of two 55gr VMAXs hitting at the exact same time in the exact same place 😂
@@rifleshooterchannel208 i keep a couple 53gr v max factory rounds and 3 60gr tipped matchkings in my doublestar 16” carbine..got a d50 with 130gr federal hp layin here for my DD7.62…and 10 more different.308 rounds from a max and eldm to smk’s 75s,and 68s 180barnes..Norma..cor-lokt…m118lr..and have tested for 2yrs with all my targets saved and recently documenting every round I fire and it’s performance to look back on..can say how happy I am with my DD .308 and how accurate it is…
Me and my son each took a deer with the 150 grain 308 gold dots two years ago. I can say it’s a excellent deer round. I think any 308 would be good for self defense 💥🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice. Looks like some great rounds.
I'd imagine the GD in 150gr is about ideal for hunting or defense, tho it be cool if they had a 125 or 130 for defense, that be about perfect.
@@ToolsandTargets indeed, any chance of testing the GD 150's? thanks for your work friend :)
There’s no replacement for displacement! Agreed! Reviewers like to spend their time trying to convince the crowd that the .308 is past its prime… If there is a cartridge that’s as capable, as easy to load, and as predictable as a .308… I don’t know what it is.. it’s not magic, it hits all the
high notes and does it with authority… without excessive recoil. Inside 300, it’s as good as it gets for medium to large game and self defense applications.
A 308 is for different reasons than a 30-30 or a 5.56 carbine/pistol. I really appreciate the dedication in bringing us this data. Saves a ton of time.
Man stack em up two at a time. Gold dot is a wicked round. Personal defense, depends on how many and how far. But no one will argue it gets the job done.
Yessir😎👊
Ouch! I’d say they’d both leave a mark. Lol. That Gold Dot was impressive how well it stayed together. Two or four legged vermin wouldn’t stand a chance with either. Awesome video. Always good to see that beauty on camera. 👍🇺🇸
Love this thing!😎👊
Where I live, It's too densely populated to use a .308 in self-defense. But the video was still really a lot of fun to watch and I really appreciated it. Both rounds are impressive, but the Gold Dot is more impressive.
Thank you sir. Appreciate you checkin it out.😎👊
The light-for-caliber bullets, like 110 & 125 gr might serve well, and can have v. little risk of over-penetration.
This was something that I was unable to find any gel tests for, so I tested 3 of them myself.
I'd say "success" in knowing I can grab the .308 if that happens to be what is nearest if/when 4 jokers push through my front door.
That's the whole point of the *Critical Defense Rifle ammo.* As you can see, it doesn't overpenetrate in gel even compared to handgun rounds. And what you can't see here is that it just disintegrates against solid barriers like walls. It's perfectly safe to use in densely populated areas (if you'd consider something like .357 Magnum to be)
Even a FMJ in .308 is likely to suffice as anti-personnel rounds. Though either of these two bullets are going to further ensure it gets the job done. I lean slightly towards favoring the Critical Defense for normal size 2-legged predators. With the penetration that Gold Dot has, it could also work well on larger animals.
Absolutely. .308 means business either way.😎👍
Both are impressive rounds. I'd go with Gold Dot myself. In a defense situation, it probably wouldn't matter much with 308. Good test brother 👍🏻 🇺🇸
Thank you sir.😎👊
I’d say if the scar was my one and only, I’d use the Hornady for the house and gold dots for hunting. That being said, I think you could just as easily swap them interchangeably, I just wouldn’t want lead and copper in my venison.
Yeah, that would be a mess to clean out.
Well said
No no no, fully staggered mag, one, then the other, then the other…. Etc. full on “luck of the draw” mag 👍😁
Very well said.
Good stuff. I'd love to see a jelly test and chrono on a 64 grain Winchester silvertip 223. I had good luck with the round on deer this season but I still think itd be interesting to see.
Thank you sir. 😎👍
Been waiting for someone to do this comparison. I watch all your content. Straight to the point and no B.S. thanks man
Appreciate that.😎👊
Don't forget that Masaad Ayoob defended a guy who took a defensive shot at 100 yards. Perp was using a snubby 38 and the defender was using a 12 gauge.
He proved that with a little practice he could 3 of the jurors who had little to no gun experience on a man-sized target 50% of the time at 100 yards with a snubby.
Just remember not all self defense situations are the same.
😎👍
Such a perfect round = 308!!!
Agreed.😎👍
Awesome performance , the 308 hits hard. Nice to see another rifle jelly test. It’s probably overkill at normal self defense ranges. Thanks for sharing Tools!
You wouldn't have to worry about a follow-up shot, that's for sure.😆
Anything worth killin is worth overkillin
A ar10 with a 16" barrel sounds just fine to me for home defense. Just because the round is capable of reaching out to further distances doesn't mean its a bad choice for up close and personal. I say if someone breaks into your home, i don't want a fair fight. I want every advantage i can get! The federal 110gr varmint rounds in .308 with a huge hollow point cavity would be my choice. Plus, they come in 40rd boxes for around $45 so you can stack em deep and train with them. Thanks for the video 🇺🇸
Nice. Completely agree. I'm grabbin the biggest, baddest thing close by.
308 would only be difficult to justify for defense if your target is too far away to be a realistic threat, but this is true of any cartridge. I use 308 FMJ as part of my bear defense strategy because the barn is 100 yards from the house. I've only once seen a bear close to the barn. He was about 125 yard away but came no closer and left when he heard me. If one ever did attack my family or animals while I'm in the house, I believe the 308 will get the job done.
Yeah, I think it would handle the job.💥🐻💥
Outstanding demo, Tools! If I had a 7.62 X 51 I would favor alternating them puppies. 2 center of mass, 2 to the central processing center should stop any Zombies in your A.O. Thanks for this one, Sir!
Thank you, my friend.😎👊
I didn't know those rounds were available. I could see if you lived in a rural area with bears , hogs and even 2 legged critters ,they work well. Gelmiester strikes again !
💥🐻🐗🧟♂️💥
Great test. As far as a 308 for self defense I always say " Who ever shows up the firstest with the moistest wins" A 308 will make a guy with a 9mm back down fast!
Man! Those Gold Dot 168’s are like the Hammer of Thor! Every.single.time…. Amazing bullets… the 75 grain load in the 223 is awesome as well.. 🇺🇸
Thanks, very good information! When we have to grab the 308 we know not just a little pass through!
Yessir😎👍
Great to see some 308 testing. I wouldn't say do a bunch of testing, but maybe do a hunting 308 series.
I think that would be good.😎👍
Awesome test! I love the rifle tests cus they aren’t as common online. Probably quite a bit harder to clean out of the gel I’m sure.
Thank you sir. It's a little bit more to clean sometimes, but the main thing that keeps me from doing as many rifle tests is I can only do two per day in a set of blocks because of how much disruption it makes, but I can do at least 4 handgun tests in a day with the same set of blocks. That and having to walk back and forth takes more time. I'm definitely gonna start doing some more though now that the weather is getting warmer.
Here we go…never tried either of those so this is well appreciated….
Nothing like some good ol .308.😎👊
Good video brother, I'm a little surprised though that you didn't do a heavy clothing barrier for a "self defense " type of test round.
Thank you sir. That cloth would have been like putting a sheet of notebook paper in front of these.😆
I know I’m a bit late to the conversation, but I’ve had a lot of success with the Critical Defense .308 in my Ruger Gunsite Scout.
I have hunted deer with a 308 and it more than gets the job done, I would be a one and done shot that is for sure, if it was a SHTF case it may be just right, great test video thanks
Thank you sir. No doubt about it would do the trick.😎👍
In a SHTF case, I was thinking the same thing. 👍
Either one of those would do the job for sure. I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of either one of those.I love the rifle testing. Great video, as always, brother. 👏 👏 👏
Thank you sir.😎👊
Galil ace pistol or Remington 700 pork sword come to mind. Belt fed people would be tickled by these too. The upper end of penetration after all barriers are factored, physiological extremes, and other unexpected variances is right around 28" in some discussions, so that is in there. Penetration depth can double almost between 10% and 20%+ gel with simple barriers like cloth, plus distance, and that is typically without bone ect. You would be surprised, and that is how you cover two legged to the biggest beasts and situations. I believe government stopped testing like that early 80's and that was the determination.
😎👍
.308,is a great round.
Yessir. Capable of pretty much anything that needs to be done for most folks.
👍👍Thanks Tools……. A really well done test
Thank you sir.😎👊
Man that's a lotta hate for home defense
Mhmm
Gold Dot was designed for duty use -enhanced barrier penetration. The Critical Defense was designed for personal defense and reduced penetration. Two different jobs, two different solutions.
Was wondering about the gold dot rifle bullets. Seems to be up to par.
Pretty nice lookin stuff.😎👍
That was a great test and video! I believe I would choose the Gold Dot as well. I would use my SCAR for self-defense on my property if I had to, but I would only reach for it if someone invaded my home if it was my only firearm. The PWS muzzle brake on the SCAR generates such a loud and concussive blast I couldn't imagine firing it inside my house. It's so obnoxious that I wonder if it isn't the worst 30-caliber brake on the market. Those who know how bad it is start getting anxious when I whip it out at the range. Shooting muffs on top of foam earplugs still isn't enough for me to stand beside someone else shooting it. The best place to stand as a spectator is directly behind the shooter. I bought a Surefire 3-prong flash suppressor to replace the brake with, but I still need to install it. Then I can use my Warden blast can with it or a SOCOM762 RC2 suppressor if I ever get one. I still don't really want to be on that list yet, especially with how our current government and federal agencies have acted recently.
Yeah, it's definitely one of the most teeth rattling brakes I have on anything if you're beside it. The tank brake I put on my PSA AK is even worse. It makes the thing a laser beam, but it rattles your own teeth like you're standing right beside it.😆
I remember picking up that 308 gold dot when it was going for prolly 13 bucks a box. Mine is probably just as old. Stashed away.
I'd buy a truckload of it now at the good ol days prices.😣
Nice vid!! It would be interesting to see a 792x39mm, since it is suppose to be traveling about 2400 fps and it is also 30 cal! Nevermind 😅, should of known you did one, lol.
😎👊 I need to do some more still.
Great review T&T. I've been waiting for this one since you bought the Critical Defense ammo and it didn't disappoint!
Thank you sir. I really gotta do more rifle stuff. It's nice seeing that power get delivered downrange.
Something tells me that either one of these would have a very high percentage of one shot stoppages…….. Wonder if they can defeat the heavy clothing test. 😂
😆😆😆
Good head-to-head test, Tools. Both performed well...I would say, use it if that's all you have...
Thank you sir.😎👊
This video deserves a thumbs up just for the "clap em' from afar" line.
😎👊
The Gold Dot did it right. The reason you want a 308 is if you have enough land, and perps are coming your way, knock down power is hard to beat next to a 7.62x39. Everyone needs a reach out and touch 'em tool.
Yessir😎👍
Nah, try some 110 grain loadings. Those are good hunting rounds, though.
110gr rounds have ridiculous terminal effect and greatly diminished recoil. Exactly what you'd want for "self defense" with a battle rifle. They're loud tho, it seems like. Winchester used to offer them, and i know hornady used to load FPD line 308 with them or maybe 120s or something. Underweight for sure but damn. Effective.
Farm defense or camp defense or civil unrest or homeland protection both of these are outstanding in the 308. Gold Dot for hunting is great. Good results. Thanks a bundle. I am impressed.
Yessir. Great stuff.😎👍
Nice Rifle . Thanks for the test using the 308 ammo. I know how they perform on deer. . Good video.
Thank you sir.😎👍
Great comparison. I think if the bad guys see you have a Scar they will turn & run. 🏃💥 Both are great but the Gold Dot holds together better. Just remember to grab earplugs in case you need to hear questions from LEO afterwards. 🙉🙊
Yeah, the brake on this thing will get your attention.😆
@@ToolsandTargetsImagine touching off the 308 in the living room. " You're Going To Wake The Kids" 😂😂 Nasty wound channel from either round DOA
Gold dot for the win with the great .308. Nice one Tools!
Thank you sir.😎👊
That Gold Dot would be my choice. Judging from the results I would say it is bonded. Appreciate you Tools. 🇺🇸
It held together very nicely.😎👍
My understanding is that the Gold Dot rifle bullet is the same as the Federal Fusion.
👀😯
Interesting
Alright, that should do the job, who needs shotguns anyway 😂. Was looking forward to this test since the ammo haul vid.
I am a big GD fan, but for self defense I would give this one to the Hornady - just explosive.
💥💣💥
Good shooting Tools good test Good looking rifle thank's for the video.
Thank you sir. Have a great weekend!
3:20 that bug knew you wouldn’t shoot him if he climbed on the chronograph.
🤣🤣🤣
Any .308 round is powerful enough for self defense, doesn’t have to be fancy. Need good ventilation on both sides of injury
No doubt about it.😎👍
Another good test, Brian! .308 for self defense? Hell yes! Ok, my AR15 is lighter, faster and hits pretty hard up close but if I could get to my AR10 I wouldn't hesitate to use it! And no matter how far away an adversely might be, if they are shooting at me, I'm shooting back! Probably not the very first rifle I would pick up but depending on the circumstances... it could happen! And like you, I'd pick that Gold Dot, they are devastating bullets!
Cheers,
jc
Agreed. If I know bullets are gonna be comin at me form any distance, I'm sending some back.😎👍
The biggest deteriment of .308 for in home defense is the ungodly amount of concussive blast they put out, esp from a short barrel with a brake. My buddy has a PWS 216 with the same brake FN ships on the 17S, and I have an Aero Precision M5 with an 18 in Proof that has a VG6 Epsilon on the end of it, and they will both ring the steel columns at the range like a tuning fork, even without walls. Indoors, it would be like having a flashbang grenade go off two feet in front of your face every time you dropped the hammer. Just stupifying muzzle blast. The kind that rattles windows in panes and leaves you with tinnitus. I get that all guns are loud indoors, but short .308s are obnoxious.
add a short suppressor to the 308. I got a sandman K short suppressor for my Tavor 7 16inch 308 as my home defense gun, loaded with this same critical defense 155gr. it's actually not as bad as most people think.@@MTMILITIAMAN7.62
In the eyes of a jury, a high powered battle style rifle is an offensive weapon, whereas a handgun could easily be seen as a defensive weapon. A situation that a prosecuting attorney would use to full advantage. I would never use a powerful rifle for self defense. That's just me, I'm sure others will see it differently. But yeah, I think at 27 yards, the gold dot was the better projectile.
😎👊
It works as advertised, but it raises the question of why? 308 rifles are usually a) hunting rifles, usually bolt guns but not always, b) AR-10s, or c) SCARs/FN FAL/M1A etc. Mine is an M1A with a 16 inch barrel. I have a few guns, and the M1A would not be high on the order I would choose them for home defense. 308s, excluding super-expensive and very light ones, aren't known for their CQB prowess. So if I had to use my 308 for home defense, I would use those bullets, but that seems like a thin market. I assume most people with an AR-10 or a FAL etc also have an AR-15 (or 3) and would choose that platform for home defense.
I was thinking the same thing. I guess there are all kinds of "personal defense" situations, but it definitely made me raise an eyebrow when I saw it on the box.😆
Personal defense isn’t limited to people and since they make ar pistols in .308, it isn’t unrealistic to imagine someone having an arp slinged to them when walking through the woods where they may come across wild animals.
155 amax has nasty wounding ballistics in humans...it's the closest 308 bullet that almost mimics the wounding ballistics of double 0 buckshot 12 gauge. There have been studies done on this. my setup is a Tavor 7 suppressed with 155 amax...doesn't get much better than that with 20 round pmag clips/magazines.
haha, that was the best gel intro so far. "when ya need to clap 'em from afar, ya break out the scar"!!! Gonna have to do more tests with the scar just to use that line 😂
Couldn't help myself.😂
Either would be extremely lethal, even a standard .308 FMJ would be enough to take down most threats with one well placed shot
No doubt about it.😎👍
The additional fragmentation of the Hornady I think would be slightly more apt to stop an individual with fewer shots.
Big energy dump for sure. A ton of force would probably stop most anything in it's tracks.😎👍
Man I absolutely love that 308
Nothing has a better report Awesome
👊🏻
While we are on the topic, I am curious about a couple other Hornady loads. I have an 18 in AR10. It is quite down the list of things I would grab for bump in the night inside the house. The blast off the VG6 Epsilon would be dumbfounding. But I have shot a couple deer with Precision Hunter 178 gr ELD-X and wondered how it would compare to the Match 168 gr ELD-M if worst came to worst and I was forced to break out the three-oh-hate...
I have quite a bit of different .308 rounds. Might have those.
That was a good test. I think they would do good on an active shooter or a hostage situation.
😎👍
Thanks for this! My personal AR-10 is loaded with 155gr Hornaday Black .308s.
Nice. I think I might have some Hornady Black in either .308 or 5.56.
nice, great minds think alike.....mind is loaded w/ the same. wounding ballistics for that round at short distances is off the chart....almost as good as a 12 gauge shotgun.
Normally defensive shooting is close range however, I think we can make a case for longer (100+ yards) gel testing for 2 items. If you're a hunter you may want to see what perfomance is available at 50-100+ yards and for self defense if someone is shooting at you from 100+ yards away you may be returning fire.
The velocities are very low due to barrel length. It would be nice to see "short barrel" loads for rifle in 5.56, 7.62 X 51mm -308 just like we see in handgun ammo
That would be pretty interesting.
There's "personal" defense, and there's defending Freedom, and our Nation. It's good to be able to do either, when needed, regardless of range.
Yessir 😎👍
I say, when it comes to personal defense, what you have in hand is what you use. Someone might have only had the budget to buy one firearm and it may be a rifle. If I could only have one, I would choose 308 over many smaller ones. The question, at what distance is it no longer defense always depends on what the aggressor is doing. If you are taking fire from distance, you need to return fire from distance.
Someone waving a sword or spear from 100+ yards is not imminent danger. Closer, maybe.
Since budget was my initial concern, I would want the ammunition that had the most utility...the Gold Dot would fit that purpose much better, but so might Core-Lokt, Power Point, Power-Shok, American Whitetail, etc.
Nice testing, as usual.
Thank you sir.😎👍
I agree with you on that GoldDot. If you need it, you need it.
Yessir
Holy Jumpin Jelly, Those both hit with absolute authority, I'd say the Gold Dots nailed 1st place, Thanks for posting. 👍 🇺🇸
Definitely some devastating rounds.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets Definitely! Anxious for some more videos this weekend, Stay Safe and Thanks again 👊 🎯
Very cool. Ought to try 50gr 223 hornady v-max since your going down this trail. It’s explosive!
Might have some of that.😎👍
Ive been using my ar 308 rifle for home defense because it's the most reliable semiautomatic rifle i own. Up until very recently i haven't had a care in the world about over penetration because of where I live. Good to see Hornady test results. Still a bit more than I want now though.
Only have a diamond back 308 but man that hits
Hits like a truck!💥🚚💥
That SCAR is purdy!!!!
Love it.😎👍
I have been buying that exact GD ammo for my .308 for awhile. It's my go to stock up ammo and I grab 100rds a few times a year. I run GD LE in my 5.56 as well just because its always been reliable in performance. There is always new ammo choices and some are stellar but GD have been a known, proven performer for me so I stick with them. Great video!
Thank you sir. Love these Gold Dot rifle rounds.😎👊
The last thing you want to do is blast your chronograph with a 308 poly tip or SP :-/ I saw it happen at the range with an M-1 CMP. Hornady across the board is very consistent. Surprised to see Speer's velocities so wide.
I was going to invest in a Labradar doppler chrono but apparently they are impossible to get right now because of some component shortage.😣
I sure can't imagine why a .308 caliber rifle would need much sophistication in bullet construction to be a self defense load. And I agree, anything beyond 25 yards gets weird because of rare. But it could happen...
Yeah, pretty much any .308 round is gonna get that job done.
Lehigh makes the Controlled Chaos bullet to if like to have some of them to reload for either my 300 Winchester magnum or my 25-06 either
😎👍
Breaking out the big boys! You get hit with that and you’re a goner! It’s almost the same cartridge as my 8 mm Mauser. I dropped a whitetail at 156 yards. That’s a deadly round!
Yessir. One and done.
D@#$ good long distance performance and the Gold Dot was exceptional. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 😊.
Yessir. Good stuff 😎👊
My take on someone using .308 for personal defense is someone who just has their .308 hunting rifle. Like old Joe who lives out in the woods. He has a .308 single shot rifle he got for $180, and he uses for deer. It's all he really needs, and he doesn't have piles of extra money sitting around. But when some two legged critter comes creeping about, well, that's what he has to protect himself. A personal protection load might be the right thing for him.
Good point.😎👍
I think too many people put too much emphasis on wieght retention. If your getting the penetration and expansion that you want why even care what the final wieght is? Should not even matter if the whole round evaporates. That extra wieght just helps it over-penetrate, as shown here.
👍
Thanks for this video. I have both rounds currently.
Good stuff.😎👍
Excellent test T! Those blocks were bouncing!
Thank you sir. They were holdin on for dear life!
I have a few boxes of the gold dots that I have had for years … it looks like some great stuff…. But .308 gonna get the job done with either 😂
That's a fact!
Gold Dot had 5" more penetration than the Critical Defense making it more likely to over penetrate. The Gold Dot might make sense for both personal & bear protection, but I'd still choose a better penetrating round for bears.
💥🐻💥
Hornady round is the same as the TAP 155gr., anti-personal round determined to have the best wound profile. All GD's are bonded
😎👊
While .308 might not be optimal for defense compared to something else...if it happens to be the nearest thing to you when a few criminals decide to bust through your front door? - and you don't get to choose where you might be standing or sitting at that moment? For me, it's quite possible that the AR-10 could be the one that is a few feet away, so I def appreciate your gel-test!!!
As such, both of these bullets you tested are found a few deep into my magazine. At the top, though, are the lighter bullets - with very little chance of over penetration with a 110 gr VMAX or Varmageddon.
I had to do the gel test myself since I wasn't able to find any uploaded anywhere. I was pretty pleased with what I saw!
How do you figure 308 is not optimal for defense?
@@likeinflationkeepvotingdem1394 #1 (to me) is recoil...which spells slower follow-up shots if a miss or multiple threats.
#2 (as seen here) is over-penetration, with typical defensive rounds.
What I saw with varmint-rounds solves for this, though. Not to mention the block flies 1.5 feet into the air, which I haven't seen with rounds that penetrate so far. These two rounds here would be way better for not having to track a 900 lb. elk for 5 miles. But for dropping 200 lb. 2-legged threats - I'll take the 9" of penetration dumping 2500 ft-lbs all day.
Plus, the firearm's weight and also very often they have a magnified optic mounted and longer barrels.
They are generally better suited for longer distance, which typically comes at the expense of being suited for CQ.
If woken from sleep, I wouldn't want to be walking around the house with my 10 vs. the 15 or the LC.
@@ShastaBean Most of what you said is subjective or NOT true unless you're old school with an older AR. Just like the same people who say 9mm is better for defense than 45 & 10mm. I wouldn't go for a 308 for defense unless it's a big game animal or if I'm in a middle of a fire fight against several people but I still chose my AR-10 over an AR-15 any day but that's just me. For optimal defense I'm going with my 10mm or my 45 but everyone likes what they like. Thanks for the info though.
That GD would've been a perfect home defense weapon. Funny that a rifle round like this has less overpenetration than some revolver rounds. It shows you how important is to pick the right ammo. Even more important than a caliber. Great video sir 👍
That is kinda crazy when you think about it. Plus you get a ton of energy.😎👊
308 might be a little much for home defense 🤔 but it'll definitely get the job done. That gold dot is pretty impressive though. 👍
Yessir. It aint playin around.😎👊
These in .223 would be an awesome test ...great video tools
Thank you sir.😎👍
No problem buddy
Thanks for the test. I am a .308 fan. They both did great i would like to see a FMJ tested with them ,, I you get the chance. 💪
😎👍
Absolutely love .308... Good video Tools
Appreciate that, brother. Nasty stuff.😎👊
I think the Critical Defense is the way to go if you are worrying about harming the person behind the target. If you aren't worried about that then any .308 is going to do the job.
Both are plenty powerful for the purpose, but you can get 200 ft-lb more out of a 16‘ 308 Win. But given the intended target for the Critical Defense irrelevant - dead‘er is not a thing
Yeah, if 2000 wont do it, I'm throwing the SCAR at em and running as fast as I can.😆😆😆
@@ToolsandTargets and I was wondering why you would own one of the heaviest and sturdiest 308s - now I know. Secondary throw weapon 😁
@@nikos6220 It's definitely built well but it's actually very light for a .308. Much lighter than my 20" AR10 and lighter than a couple of my AR15's even.
@@ToolsandTargets True, just looked up the numbers, looks heavier. My MDRX is even lighter but feels massive as it‘s so short. Seriously cool gun, you should try one out if you haven’t already.
Man that thing hits like a freight train
Yes indeed.
Gold Dot is what I go with. I think the test validated that.
In and out as to be expected. Some don’t like separation / fragmentation. I personally love it. Other than the initial wound cavity it provides even greater wound. Hallmark of a great defensive round in my mind. I gather that the majority will disagree with me passionately. This is just my opinion,, whether alone or not.
Either one would be a bad day for the recipient for sure.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets , my man !
